Hei, i trying very long time to instal rom on kinde, today i was lucky and i used TWRP 2.3.3.0 and install jelly beer 4.33 and i was working
after that i update TWRP to 2.6.3.1 and tray to install CyanogenMod and its filed, and then i get stuck on twrp can not instal any rom.
When i try i just get information : Assert failed :getprop...., E: error executing updater binary in zip '/data/media/sideload.zip'
I was searching every where but i cant find nothing about that...
Sorry for my english
Help someone : )
Edit:
I was trying to downgrade twrp from 2.6.6.1 to 2.3.3.0(becouse it work best for me) but i dont know how i was trying but imposible. I dont have os instaled, and cannot istall anything somebody help ? ;D
Sounds like a bad zip file I'm guessing, the updater binary is what runs the updated script to flash the ROM. I would either try redownloading the rom and verifying its md5sum, and/or "adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/" something like this instead of side load and then browsing for it with install in twrp. I could be wrong though, twrp errors ardent my biggest area of expertise, for all I know the getprop could be failing because the ROM is meant for another device, I just don't know.

Thanks man, i will try on the weekend i get you know how its going ;D

Hi, so I'm trying to make this quick so that i can install CM10 tonight...
so I rooted my phone tonight, did everything right and stuff, but I went to go download the CM10 nightly build for my phone which is the Rogers (Canadian version). So I download the d2att version, did a backup, wiped everything and I tried installing it using CWM-Based recovery v5.5.0.4. But when I tried install it gave me status 7 aborted. I installed cwm using odin3 v1.85, what am I doing wrong, am I trying to install the wrong version? Sorry if this is a noob question but I'm new to this stuff :/
thanks for any help
Can anyone explain to me how I can update CWM? I downloaded the latest img from their website, but idk how to install it...I'm really confused...and I really need help :crying:
Go look at QBKing77 videos on YouTube or QBKing77.com he has the best videos in my opinion and installing CM10 and CWM. I am on CM10.1 without any problems.
hmm, did you use the v5 recovery? Did it work, because the version i had was cwm 5.5 and I couldn't update because of system 7 error, which is because the CWM version was too old.
If possible, could you link me the one you used?
Ok..so now I installed TWRP and I tried flashing CM10 it still didnt work and gave me status 7 error and it says:
assert failed: getpro ("ro.product.device")
E: Error in /sdcard/cm- 10.....d2att.zip
Is this because with goomanager i installed it for the d2can version and now I can't install the d2att even though thats the only version i can use? goomanager only lets me get d2can...and when I try to install the never cwm recover img using android terminal it keeps giving me No such file or directory.
Can anybody help me with this...

have you tried flashing another ROM, like an-aosp or aokp-based one? If you followed their instructions, it may help you determine whether it was a bad download or something s more specific to your device. just throwing this one out there....

I just flashed AOKP and everything worked great! Thanks for that little suggestion! Custom ROMs are now my favorite!

If you want to flash a CM ROM you will need to be on the most current d2att recovery for either CWR or TWRP. If you were getting a status 7 error, I'm going to assume that you have a d2can phone.. make sure you have a d2att recovery and you'll be able to flash anything. ROM Manager will let you install CWR or Goo Manager will let you install TWRP (which is what I use).

I tried using TWRP but when I installed it through GooManager it installed the d2can version so I couldn't install CM10. Unless there is a way to manually select which TWRP version to install through GooManager, then I'm more or less stuck on CWM.
edit: Just got TWRP for d2att installed so now I can flash whatever I want, man TWRP seems a lot better than CWM!
I rooted my kindle fire using kfu 9.8. As of this moment when I install roms they do not boot up and they stay at the boot logo. I dont know if it has to do with TWRP or the roms, but I have tried 2 cm10 roms and one AOSP 4.2.2 rom. I will tell you exactly what I did.
1. Rooted with kfu
2. went straight to recovery, flashed the aosp rom + google apps
3. Booted up and it stayed at the boot screen
4. Tried another rom, put it onto the device through usb mounting with twrp
5. Still stuck at boot logo
6. Tried the last rom but still stuck!!
After that I tried to flash back to stock using this
(doesnt let me post a link if requested I will pm)
But twrp gave an error and it did not install, it said somewhere an error doesnt matter and you would boot up fine but I didnt
Between installing all Roms I wiped cache, dalvik, and factory reset.
Thanks in advnce!
EDIT
Used this to try to bring to stock
theunlockr DOT com/2012/10/29/how-to-unroot-the-amazon-kindle-fire
Used these roms (all on xda)
/showthread.php?t=2100963
/showthread.php?t=2041694
cant find the third rom
EDIT
I have no problem using adb or fastboot so feel free to try and fix my problem with those.

PLEASE HELP! Kindle Fire 1st Gen. I've looked everywhere for answers
Okay, This is the first time Ive ever posted anything on this site. Normally I just search for answers and people usually have already solved the problem so I just go off what other people post. But now I cannot seem to find any fix I rooted my Kindle Fire 1st Generation. I was running TWRP 2.2.2. and a Hellfire ROM. I went on vacation and left my Kindle at home. When I got back, most of my apps weren't working properly and my keyboard was glitching so I tried to update my ROM. It was unsuccessful. So I thought maybe if I upgraded my TWRP Recovery to the latest version It would fix the problem... I was wrong. Whenever I try to flash any ROM I get an error like this... (E:Error executing updater binary) I have searched for answers for about a month now and nothing seems to work. I dont know what to do and I feel like crying. Can someone please help me? Please?

I'm currently running TWRP v2.6.0.0
And I'm trying to flash ANY android version.
So far I have tried flashing the latest HellFire, Kit Kat, and Jellybean Stock Roms, All have been unsuccessful.
All I want is to be able to use my kindle without wanting to smash it to pieces, lol. I'm tired of getting booted off the internet every 2 minutes and my apps to force closing on me.

Thanks! Okay so TWRP update was successful. Then I followed the link for ADB and fastboot. I installed them to PC. Now, just to be clear.. Was I supposed to do that with the USB connected to my device? or was that just for my PC? I just dont want to mess anything up.
Hi,
I can't flash this ROM onto my N5100: [ROM][N5100]Official CM 10.2[JLS36I][11/18/13]
I have twrp 2.6.0 installed and everytime I try to install the zip it says error executing updater binary in zip and it fails.
Also tried this with other recovery, but always getting the same error.
I must be doing something fundamentally wrong, can anyone help me out?
Thanks for any hints.
Try the version of TWRP that I made here or one of civatos CWM recovery.
Cool, thanks, worked like a charm. :good:

Hello everyone
a while ago i got a 13mb update for my GT-I9192, but i couldnt find any way to get the update to work, even tried deleting the update.zip so that i would download again, i recently tried to manually flash the update.zip from the external SD but i get the "can't open sdcard update.zip bad Install aborted" mesage, when i try to flash it the normal way i get the same error but displaying the "status 7" mesage, im also a mac user so i can use Odin to do it, so i was wondering if anyone could help me with this.
PD: i know about the existance of Heimdall but is way to complicated to me, and i just want to flash an update.zip
Thanks :good:

If it's an OTA from Samsung don't think you can just flash from recovery. Definitely not from a custom recovery. Have you tried "flash fire" from Chainfire? I've flashed whole stock roms and kernels with this on the S4 Mini with stock OS and stock kernel and just root.

Hello! I am new to the site so please be serious! Ok, so here's the problem: I rooted my Galaxy Nexus from Verizon to install CyanogenMod 11, Once I got the rom onto my phone I entered recovery using TWRP Recovery, then I tried to install the rom. After that it failed and I can't remember why, but I was being stupid and clicked the format sd card button and bricked my device. Now I'm trying to flash the rom again through ADB and Windows sends the .zip file to the phone, then while trying to install it gives the error of "E: Error executing updater binary in zip" and I cannot figure out a way to fix it. I need help as soon as possible and it would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
