How can I put a Tab 3, 7 inch into download mode if the home button isnt working? All other buttins work as normal. I believe it may have something to do with the wrong firmware version.
Cant reset using adb as it isnt rooted.
Tried all manner of button combinations?
Any idea, or is it goosed?
Use kies and update your frimware or you can do a factory reset in settings

Can you pull the battery and restart in download mode? Hold power, the home button and volume up to try and get into download mode. You should then be able to flash with Odin.

Thats the thing, im not able to go in download mode neither.
I had touch recovery installed on phone. I then proceeded to install cwm based recovery because that is what author of the rom said. After I was done installing CWM on phone, I then started installing the custom rom along with the gapps that came with it. Now my phone doesn't boot into the custom rom at all. I just see the Samsung boot logo, then the screen goes black. I am able to boot into recovery mode though. I see there are guides. They mention to hold both the up and down volume button, but nothing happens. Am I missing something here. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same issue where I installed the CWM based recovery and was able to install the ROM successfully without any problems. Couple of days later I decided to go into recovery mode to take a backup before I flash a newer nightly. I was not able to get into the recovery mode at all and it just goes to the Samsung logo and stays there. Can't boot the phone either!! It's just weird that the Vol up + Down combos or the Vol Up + Power combos do not work either.
What are the other options that I should try?

Try putting the phone in DL mode, get ur USB wore and connect it to PC, now with ur phone off hold vol+vols while plugging in the USB wire, u should get a screen with a warning of some kind, follow directions and press continue, now ur in DL mode, use Odin to flash twrp 2.6.0.4 from techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules now u should have a fully functional recovery capable of flashing 4.3 roms without any hassle, soft bricks are an easy fix with this phone ..

Thanks a ton... I used your exact method to get back TWRP recovery back onto the phone. Also followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195283 to get the ODIN, Drivers, steps, etc in order to get the phone to boot back into my ROM.
Hope it helps the OP or someone else with similar issues.

I have the same problem, but despite reinstalling the drivers and using kies and more than one version of odin, I can't get odin to recognize my device in download mode, the com port never turns yellow and windows won't assign a com port. Anyone know a solution to that?

Try different com ports on PC and make sure ur using the factory usn wire, Odin is funny like that, oh and if u have lies installed on the PC Odin will not recognize the phone, Odin and lies don't play well together, remove any and all traces of it or use a PC that doesn't have it install because as long as its there u won't get a connection

It's not a matter of trying different com ports, I can't get the PC or Odin to recognize the phone in download mode despite uninstalling kies, installing the latest drivers twice, 3 different OEM cables, multiple usb ports, nothing. when I plug it in, Windows doesn't make any sound like with other usb devices, nor does it try and search for drivers. Are there any other options short of JTAG repair?

Try a diff PC then because if u can get it into download mode it doesn't need JTAG, idk why ur PC isn't setting it but if u can get into download mode u should be able use odin, I'd DL mode works it's only a soft brick, JTAG would be a waste

I think infamous superwipe fouled it up to where it's not recognized as a usb device, my ps3 no longer read it as a device either. Know of a way to reverse that ?

That's strange because as long as u can get into DL mode Odin should work, all JTAG does is force the phone into DL mode so u can flash the firmware, but since u can access DL mode JTAG won't help u, and if it was hardbricked it would show up in window as qcom-dsload or something like that, the ps3 maybe won't recognize it because there is no recovery installed but I would try a new computer, search drivers for t989 and install that driver and use Odin 1.85, if none of that works then idk man but it should work...

Hi.
I need some help to root my galaxy tab 3, everytime I try to do it Odin gets stuck in setting connection u.u
I have tried everything: killing all kies process, booting to download mode using key combinations and using adb, turning on and off the autoreboot option, changing the usb port, trying other odin versions, uninstalling kies, reinstalling kies. But nothing works.
Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.

Yes I did but forgot to mention it. Do I have to reinstall kies? I still got the drivers installed.
Another question: Is it possible to root the tab using the official recovery menu?

Nope is not. Install cwm its easy and then root it.
Also having trouble with Odin/Tab3
I'm following instructions at theunlockr.com to root Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, using Odin307/TWRP_T31x_r3.tar
I installed Kies (for the drivers), enabled USB debugging, plugged in my device - no issue finding/installing drivers.
If I open Odin while the tablet is connected and at the home screen, I get a blue "0: [COM3]". When I reboot into Odin mode (power, vol down, home), I get nothing. I've tried all sorts of combinations of when I open Odin, connect the cord, and boot the device into Odin mode - no luck.
Any ideas?
Recently rooted/ROMed a GSIII also using Odin (different version) with no issues.

Yes, flash CWM (using ODIN); then flash the root.zip (using CWM) located at the bottom of the first post in the CWM thread.

If possile, get it repaired. I guess you are rooted.
Download quickboot from playstore. It provides the option to reboot to recovery or download mode.
Once that is done, you can install anything.
Warning: getting the button repaired is very important. If installation fails, you won't be able to flash anything. And "repair" would be the only option.
Press thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

Frankly, you have two options.
1. Get your mobile repaired. Or,
2. Stay away from any ROM modification.
Without "download mode" or "recovery mode" no modification is possible.
Cynogenmod installer is quite risky.

Tablet T-830 was stuck in a roboot loop. Factory reset wouldnt fix the problem. Was able to flash it with a combination file but now it's stuck in a factory binary mode. I'm just trying do get the tablet back to stock settings. I keep trying different files to flash. Would like Android 9 Pie. Any pointers in the right directions would be appreciated. Thanks

Ther is no way you can be definitely stuck.
You need to get in DL mode and with Odin flash any samsung stock 9.1 BL, AP, CSC. What I do is turn off the tablet (pres and hold few seconds power, vol+, vol-) , open Odin connect the cable in the computer usb press and hol vol+ and vol-, connect at the same time the usb cable at the tabletdont release volume button until DL mode is on on the tablet. That take sometimes few try. After that I load the 3 files in Odin
If that doesnt work change computer and dont forget to install samsung drivers before connecting the device.
