Was just wondering if they defy can and will work on US Cellular's network?
No, bc US Cellular is CDMA network, while Defy uses GSM. I actually switched over from US Cellular after 6 years to T-Mobile, cause i was tired of their boring phones.
Dang. Thanks. My dad is hard on phones and us cellular is one of two carriers that he gets service with. Hopefully someone makes another phone like the Defy.

I'm considering purchasing the Defy. (completely in love with the idea of a waterproof phone)
I live in US and have AT&T. Seen topics about the T-Mobile version working on AT&T's 3G bands.
I plan on purchasing one from eBay and my question is, should I get the american "T-Mobile" version or should I get a European version. Which one has more/better roms available? Does the European version work on AT&T 3G? I'm a fan of the all black UK version as well. Are there any other hardware differences besides color of the phone?
Thanks alot! Hope to be visiting these defy forums more often!
Ok, if you buy the American (T-Mo?) you should be able to use it on AT&T 3G through the 850 freq, and of course, on T-Mo.
http://androidforums.com/t/217819-t-mo-motorola-defy-working-t-3g-850-band-only.html
You will also be able to use it on the most common international freq, 2100. Looked at the Euro spec phone on the Moto site and they do not appear to be able to work on any USA 3G.
The USA T-Mo branded phone seems to be far less likely to developed the "failed earpiece", if that is even still an issue with current production.
Also, there is a thread with people complaining that the all black phone is structurally "cheaper". Maybe it's an appearance thing. Of course, the T-mo branded phone comes with wifi calling which you cannot use on AT&T... but should you ever switch...
Awesome! Thank you very much for the information.

Remember, I'm only passing on info on the 850 band but have never tried myself.
Posted this in the TMobile release thread but hasn't gotten any responses (might be the wrong place for such a question). Someone on another place I frequent posted this and I'm wondering if it's something one should be concerned about or if the bands missing are pretty much useless and won't make a difference to me? If it will be an issue for me, I will return the phone and wait for the official AT&T one to be released.
Thanks!
It will work in tmobile, yes. But won't you be losing some bands cricket/att use? I use cricket too and was trying to get the international model for this reason. With the tmobile version your missing some of the 3g and LTE bands that att uses.
H810 AT&T
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
UMTS 850/1900/2100
LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 17, 29, Roaming 1, 3, 7, and CA
H811 T-Mobile USA
UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100)
LTE: Band: 2, 4, 7, 12, 17;

It won't make a difference.
Thanks for asking this question as I am bout to do the same. Just want to be sure that I will be OK w the T-Mobile phone on AT&T. I live in NY and will be using the phone mostly in the USA. If anyone has done this, your feedback would be appreciated!

Looking at your list, if you use a T-Mobile G4 on AT&T you will not get LTE bands 5 or 29, or GSM 850/900/1800.

It's in the general sub-forum. Here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/t-mobile-version-available-t3119636

I know but my question is will this degrade performance or affect my ability to use data and voice, etc.? I don't understand anything about bands.

AT&T uses bands 2/4/5/17/29/30 for LTE and 850/1900 for GSM. If you use a T-Mobile G4 on AT&T, going by your first post, you will not get LTE bands 5 or 29 or 850 for GSM.
This means is you will not be able to take advantage of AT&T's 850MHz LTE or 700MHz lower D/E LTE spectrum, or 850MHz GSM. AT&T's main bands are 5 and 17, so in some areas you will get reduced LTE performance, especially indoors and when far from the tower. You may run into markets that you only get 2G/3G in as well if they are using only bands 5 and/or 29.
In short, it will work, but it's not ideal.

The B/I/U text is the answer I was looking for. I appreciate it.
I'm going to rock it for a few days until the AT&T phone comes out and return the T-Mobile one since I have 14 days to do so.

Depending on your market, you may be perfectly fine, since you have the T-Mobile version I'd wait and see how happy you are with the service. The AT&T G4 costs a lot more.
Well, it just came. So I'll test it out with my Cricket SIM and see how it goes. But I'm leaning towards swapping it out.
Update, probably last one.
1) Put my Cricket SIM into the new LG G4.
2) Got a message saying phone was locked to network. Call support to get it unlocked.
3) Called support and they said because I don't have a T-Mobile account, they cannot unlock it. I'd need to go through a 3rd party to do that. BUT, if I do that, I can no longer return the phone.
I'm not going to bother with 3rd Parties and will just get an AT&T phone which will allow me to use my Cricket SIM without issue, plus have all of the missing bands. So, I am starting the return process on my T-Mobile LG G4, unless someone wants to buy it from me?
thanks for reporting all this. I'm on att but am out of contract, deciding if i upgrade to the att g4 or switch to tmo and upgrade there.
still not decided but I'm definitely not going to run the tmo on att, because my signal at home is 1 bar of lte if I'm lucky. the only hold back is obviously the bootloader. I've never had a stock phone for more than a day, eeesh.

No problem. That's why we're all here.
Same here. Now that I'm going to be waiting till June 5th for the G4 (AT&T release date), I'm hoping some progress is made in the next week for unlocking the bootloader. Must have root (for XPosed and a bunch of other apps).

I did the att preorder last week. I'm kind of hoping since I'll get it later that there will be root and stuff by the time I get it too lol.

It comes out on June 13 at best buy. Over a week after att stores. So that's a week after it releases. Not before

I spoke to the guy at my local AT&T store who said they aren't doing an official pre-order but that he'll put me on the list to reserve one and I'll come get it when it arrives.
Man, I'm so indecisive lol. This is by far the 'craziest' a phone has gotten me since smart phones were invented.
I scrapped my plan of getting an AT&T H810 (which would work perfectly with my Cricket SIM) and decided to spend a tad bit more ($60 or so) and get a fully unlocked H815 model that has all the AT&T bands + others. Ordered it on EBay, should be here by the 4th which is actually a day earlier than the AT&T release (which is June 5th).

Not sure. I'll try the links for the promo's when I get the device...and find out.
I have recently moved from India to the US, and after like one week, I broke my device slipping on the ice. I tried to find a Poco phone here but was not able to find it anywhere. I will consider buying online little bit consider will it support US based carrier or not ?
This...
Yes. I use Rogers with mine which is similar to both here in Canada. I've used T-Mobile and att+t phones from the u.s. that have worked.
A couple of bands are missing so in remote areas in is harder to get a signal but this is also the case with phones with the missing bands.
Hope this helps
