When i put a finger tapping the left side of the loudspeaker the sounds dont came ou, but if i place my finger in the rigth part of it the sounds came out normal, what makes me think, is my with a problem or he just use half of it???
did you people face the same situation, or should i go to the garantie?
Rigth now thx you all,

my iphone 5s is like that too. even though there are two distinct speaker grills, one is for the mic (that picks up your speech) and the other is for the speaker. i am thinking that per your comment, the z1 functions the same way.

Hi all,
I have had my DHD for about 2 weeks now and I have just noticed that if I set it down on a hard surface it does make a bit of a plastic-y rattling sound. If I shake the phone it also rattles, but hardly near as much, it is barely audible. Is this something to be concerned about? If it's not going to affect the phone in the long run I would rather just keep it with the rattle but I would like to be sure before doing so. So is this going to cause problems in the long run or is it just a benign niggle?
Thanks in advance
They all do this, and I know what you mean. Nothing to be worried about, I've heard most handheld devices do this, let alone just this phone. The shaking when you put the phone down on the table i most likely just the phone shaking very quickly as you put it down, just because the camera protrudes.

Mine used to, But after dropping it on concrete a few times it doesn't lol
It would be nice if that were it but I get the same noise from tapping on the back, I think it could be something inside the camera that's a bit loose when not being used, it seems to work fine though,so I guess its not a huge issue, just a slight annoywnce.
How are you tapping it? Basically, there is a tiny rattle there, but it isn't prominent. I'd say it's the camera too, but definitely a non-issue.

It's just a tap below the camera with the flat of my finger, it is quite noticeable but only in a very quiet room. I guess I've got two years on the warranty anyway I'll try not to worry
Does anyone know what the hole is for on the top right corner on the back of the GN? Images below. You can also search for cases on Ebay and it is on all of them.
Noise-cancellation mic.

I don't see a mic hole on any of those pictures. And if you look at the second picture, it almost looks like a camera.
No GN I've seen so far has a mic in that location and that would be a pretty bad location for it.

Oh, yeah, a camera, that's it... No clue what that big ole thing an inch away is, but that tiny hole that you didn't even see - yeah that's a camera...
And please do tell why that would be a horrible location for a mic?

I never said it was a camera. I said whatever is behind that hole in the second picture just looks like one, alright? Cool.
And if you are on speaker phone and you place your phone down the noise cancelling mic is obstructed. Not that hard to realize honestly. Also, many people put their index finger on the top right of the phone when they hold it to their ear.

If you put the phone down in the way you describe you would also be obstructing the speaker... Most people set the phone with the speaker up for that.
I cannot fathom holding my phone in a way that obstructs that mic, however, even if i did, I would still have a regular phone call...

What's odd about it?
If it is a noise cancellation mic then its in the perfect position so I would back that theory. Up against the ear it would pick up surrounding sounds to minimize external sounds, in speakerphone operation (screen face down) it would act the same way and as the phone is quite long very few people would put their finger over the top of the phone to obstruct it.
Mark.
I think its the speaker.

Its probably the barometer. I'm surprised I am the first person to say it.

You don't need a dedicated hole for the barometer. Any whole anywhere would do.

The barometer doesn't need a hole. It can just be inside the phone. It doesn't need a specific port to measure pressure. The pressure in the phone is the same as outside the phone, and there are plenty of ports on the phone already (the inside obviously isn't air tight).

LOL. That would be awesome, but the hole is way too small for the lanyard though
and it would need 2 holes for that
And its at the wrong end of the phone lol.
Mark.
just for reference, on the SGS2
the mic is at the bottom, and the noise cancellation mic is at the top, pretty close to where the opening of the GN case is showing
so i wouldn't be surprised if there's really a NC Mic in that location
after all it's just a pin hole, i don't think those pics are high quality enough to show it
So, I might of been quite tired and not concentrated when this happened...
But, I was removing my SIM when I realised that I was actually inserting the SIM opening tool into the tiny hole in the top left not the top right. Does anyone know what this hole is exactly for?
I was thinking it was either a microphone (wrong end of phone?) or some sort of water damage detection hole?
Either way it definitely didn't open my SIM slot

I believe it is another mic for stereo video and background noise cancelling when phoning

i personally think its a mic for calls to help when on loud speaker
that would be the secondary microphone for noise cancellation
Thanks for your help guys, I just hope me prodding it with the HTC Sim tool has not broken it haha...
I too wasn't concentrating in the store when they were giving me the sim, i'm pretty sure it's a reset button as the phone restarted when I poked a paperclip in the wrong hole.
I did exactly the same thing yesterday. Wasn't concentrating properly. I pushed it in pretty hard too. Have you noticed any problems since in call quality or video sound?

Noticed that many say the hole is for a microphone. After searching I cannot find that mentioned by HTC anywhere.
However beneath that hole is a push button switch.
I don't what it is for and am willing to try, however recently my phone decided to become a brick, so after that is fixed...... :good:
little hole
its is a mic i damaged my bottom one so i opened my hox to repair and its the very same as the mic i replaced

My First thought too !
And I'm sure at some point most of us have done it. :fingers-crossed:
Wondering if others have noticed that the speaker grills on the sides of the new note 10.1 are loose- ie if you tip it on the sides can you tap the speaker grills and they kinda move back and forth? Not a big issue, just wondering if it was just my device or if they are all like this? Appreciate the feedback.

Mine is like that too, but it doesn't bother me. I didn't notice it until I read it somewhere else on the forums.
Mine do not seem to move at all so its not all of them.

Mine is like that too. Not a big issue for me either.
One of my Notes does that, I took a small piece of tape and used it on both edges and they don't move anymore. It helps my ocd lol.

yea thats like mine, only moves if i touch it
I have the same issue with one of the speakers, and both the power and volume buttons. There is enough of a loose fit, that any touch results in a metal clanking type noise. Rather disappointed at the build quality. My first Galaxy Tab (two years and running) has never had any of these build quality issues.

I recommend you do something because my speaker is nice and tight when I touch it

mine only clacks if i tap it. but my tap is louder than the click and i generally don't spend my time tapping my tablet.
My tablet does not have this problem. Well ... it did not have any loose speaker grills last night. However, today the right grill is now loose. I have been treating this thing very carefully as I do not have a case for it yet. So nothing traumatic happened to it that would cause the grill to become loose.
I have two 32 GB tablets and the speakers are not loose.
Mine actually felt I don't know where and I cannot find it.
I wanted to fix that, so I contacted Samsung support. I'll skip the disappointing conversation with the support person, but at the end my best option according to the tech support is to go to samsungparts.com and buy it there.
I put all the info there, but I cannot find the specific one that actually is required. Has anyone replace this part? If so, which part should I buy?
Thanks
