Hello guys. My phone is Samsung Galaxy Nexus i9250 with CM 11 official nightlies. For more than 6 months I know that someone that I know is reading my SMS but I don't know how. Every month when I receive a receipt for my mobile plan via SMS, he is contacting me on facebook(usually) and he tells me: "Hello buddy, do you know that you need to pay your mobile carier XXXXX", where XXXX is the exact amount that I received via SMS a couple of hours earlier. This is realy anoying because I receive confidential information as well as my personal chat. I know that I can go to the police and even sew him but I at least have some decency because he used to be a good friend of mine.
One thing that I can't explain to myself is that I used to use ParanoidAndroid, roughly 3-4 months ago and even tho I changed my Android OS to CM11 with all the neceserry factory and data resets, he still have access to my SMS. He never had access to my phone since the first time he told me what amount I need to pay to my carier.
I would greatly appreciate your help guys. Thanks.
If you've done a full wipe when switching roms, he isn't getting it from your phone. Most likely he knows your credentials to log into whatever carrier you have and is either looking there or has set it up to SMS his number too when you are billed.
Btw, police aren't going to be able to do anything other than contact him and ask him to stop. Without proof he's broken a law, they are pretty limited on what they can do (if you live in the US anyway).
If his location (Sofia) is correct, he is probably in Bulgaria.
Regardless, the first thing I would do is update your account information with your mobile carrier. Change your username, password, and email address if able.

Like the title says I was having some issues not being able to send email or texts or to make calls, how ever I was able to receive them all. Believing I was having an issue with my phone I did a hard reset hoping that would fix it.
Long story short... it wasn't my phone it was vodaphone
Since the hard reset I can make and receive calls and send and receive texts, but I cant get on the net or get or send email. I'm getting the following error:
"Your internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in connections."
Is there a guide on how to do this? I'm pretty cell phone tech ignorant.
I'm running Kavanas 6.1 rom
Thanks in advance.

GRSM (I think that's the right way to say it).
I'm following Roloracers instructions right now.
It seems to be working, but I'll know more once I remember my Gmail password..
no. i meant, when you flashed 6.1 for the first time, you had to have set up your internet for it to work.
now you say you reset the phone and your internet stopped working. WHY NOT JUST FOLLOW THE SAME STEPS YOU DID WHEN YOU DID THE INITIAL FLASH?
I guess what im asking is, did you forget how to set up your connection from the first time you did it until now? i just dont see the point of this thread.
Ah I understand now.
When I flashed it the first time I think (but not sure) the phone prompted me for connection info. It was a few months ago and I just don't remember.
Following Roloracer's instructions I was able to get on the net, but I'm having email issues. Gmail doesn't seem to want to recognize my log-in / password.
first make sure that you have the proper keyboard layout installed. if you do, try you username as your full email address. also verify that you can access gmail from a pc...just make sure that it is the phone. what error are you getting?
So, since I flashed to a new ROM I have be getting a copious amount (about 40 a day) of texts from a 9114 number.
I'm assuming this has something to do with Sprint trying to send information to one of it's Stock Apps, because while using the Sprint Lovers ROM for a few days I didn't receive them at all.
Anybody know how to fix this problem, perhaps which stock Sprint Apps I need to install?
Also, I'm using CM7.
That is really strange
is that just recent?
where you located at?
You shouldn't have to install any apps. I don't know of anything that communicates over text message. If possible, backup your stuff and do a fresh install of cm7 because that shouldn't be happening.
Make sure you haven't accidentally signed up from one of those scam apps for a service that charges you a dollar a text message. What are the contents of the messages?

Here's what I found on Sprint Users regarding the 9114 text messages:
Hate to bring this back from the dead but I actually know why this is happening. It's a problem with Sprint Mobile email application that comes with most phones. It's actually quite helpful since it will allow you to get push email (ie instant email or blackberry like email) straight to your phone. The problem is if you uninstall the program or stop using the program without resetting your email information on the server, it will keep sending the email (push) notification in the form of the 9114 text message gibberish. I have the Touch and found out through trial an error and noticing that the texts come at the same time I kept getting emails.
A more decisive fix instead of just blocking the text message sender is by using the Sprint email program and re-enter your infomation for your previous email account. If you don't remember just start sending emails to your various email accounts (allow a few minutes between each) and wait to see if you get a text from 9114. When you find out which email it is, you should register with that same account again.
Once you have done that select re-register under the menu. Don't enter anything after that. It will clear your info off the server and now you can uninstall the email program AND you will stop getting the texts.
So in short, don't blame the gmail or yahoo, it's not their fault. The program is really to blame although it's a symptom of push email which is nice to have for free.
Thanks for the assistance guys, but I've since moved over to Sprint Lovers and it has stopped, very confusing. It appears whenever I use any ROMs that don't have the Stock Sprint Apps I receive the text message. Which is a really agitating problem considering I much enjoy AOSP roms in comparison...
I don't see anything that looks like Sprint Mail here...I was hoping once I switched over I simply just had to finagle that app and I coud move on 9114 free...hmmmm...
I'm sure they are referring to the stock "Email" app; probably isn't named "Sprint Mail". I think they are saying delete your email accounts in your Sense rom, flash your AOSP ROM, and then set up your email accounts again. I haven't experienced this 9114 issue and I've went from Sense to AOSP.....kinda strange.

I haven't used the stock e-mail app though, I pretty much rooted and went to a different ROM the first day I got the phone. (I was coming from an Inspire 4G...which I miss terribly </3 )
Could it possibly have something to do with the Sprint Zone? Perhaps a "Welcome to Sprint, please set up your..." type of situation?

You got me stumped......I'm on an AOSP ROM with no Sprint apps installed and have never received a 9114 text. Weird, very weird.
I'm wondering if it could be caused by the person who had the phone number before I did...if so...I feel like I'm proverbially SOL.
I would really love to rock the new Deck ROM too

Try the Deck 1.0 (2.3.3).....very stable.
I'm hoping someone can help me out...
Late last week I changed my ROM to HenseMod7 (for VM) - to give it a try and because some of the other ROMs I had been trying were giving me issues with MMS, calls and other things. All was good - or so I thought.
A day or two after I made the change - I started getting text messages from 999-999-9999. These text messages are all gibberish - letters, symbols and numbers mixed together. They always come two messages together and about 12 hours apart (so about 4 per day). I delete them as soon as I see they are in my list.
I saved the contact to my phone and blocked it as a caller.
I went onto the VM website and logged into my account and blocked the "number" for text messages - but since I know it isn't a "real" number - you've probably guessed it - I'm still getting these messages.
Might this be something related to the ROM somehow? I mention that only because all the other ROMs I've tried since I rooted my phone have not had this particular issue. This is the first time I've gone back to a Sense-styled ROM (made particularly for VM) and it's the only time I've gotten these spam texts.
I hesitate calling VM about this issue if it could/might be related to the ROM since I know they are less than helpful when you root your phone.
Any thoughts, ideas, input or help would be so very much appreciated.
Thanks all!

Hi,
Your problem is very strange and honestly, I tried HenseMod and I didn't get this error. It is although true that this ROM has some problems with text messages as I couldn't send a long message (the ROM could not split the long message into several small messages of 160 characters).
I can see only two solutions : either you change of ROM (there are maaanny good ROMs for the Wildfire S) either you reinstall your ROM, verifying you have the good version for your phone model (marvel, marvelc, etc.). Maybe you can also update your radio if you can do it and know how to do it, but I guess it wouldn't be really helpful in that case.
Do you think these messages come from a real person ? Maybe there are some network problems, or maybe the ROM cannot read the message from a particular network / phone, I don't know.
Good luck

just another option it could be a service network message that is not coming through properly. in the uk when you activate your sim card in a new phone uk carriers send you a text message that contains the network settings to get online. if your access point is not already configured
it could be getting scrambled somehow. if you can you could try to contact your phone carrier. go into a hop if possible and ask them if they have kept any logs of sending you service messages. if so maybe try to cross reference them and see?
Thank you both Izzy and Heavy_Metal_Man for your thoughts on this.
Since I first posted the question, I have changed ROMs and the problem has stopped. This is the curious thing. I have been trying different ROMs on my phone since I first rooted it last winter and only with HenseMod have I had this kind of annoyance.
In searching the internet on this - I have found posts by other Virgin Mobile users about this same issue. At one point someone mentioned that it was some kind of message from "Telus" (which is a Canadian provider - but I live in the US - and quite a distance from Canada). Most of those posts were from non-US users.
I do receive updates from VM without issue - so I don't think it's that.
I have a Marvel C phone if that adds anything to the equation.
Thanks again for your input. Anyone else have thoughts?

So the problem really comes from the ROM and it isn't really strange because HenseMod is known to have some SMS bugs
My first thoughts were some kind of loopback error related to cell broadcasts and/or emergency message notifications. If you consider the times you mentioned, have some imagination, and throw in some cross-talk pollution it might even jive with what h_m_m (heavy_metal_man) was saying (in terms of it repeating); however, when I looked at the ROM, it's strictly GB/CM7 and those features weren't incorporated until ICS. So I'm gonna say that h_m_m has the most plausible reason. Thank goodness you found another ROM that works and can move on and leave the problem to those who want to keep trying to figure it out.
Ive had another thought about it. What base version is the Rom made from? If it's based from a carrier specific Rom and then "De-carrierized" it may have been conflicts left in the networking configuration that made the cdma/gsm believe it was in another country and needed roaming data settings. In any event I'm glad your sorted pal

Thank you!
Thank you all for your thoughts and comments on this matter. I truly appreciate it!
As I previously mentioned, once I changed the ROM - the annoying texts stopped. So perhaps (as others have mentioned) it may be a quirk of the ROM itself.
I do like trying different ROMs - makes me feel like I've got a new phone for a brief time, while I still have my little Wildfire S. Its a fun "exercise" for me. Wish some more developers would build for the MarvelC though.
Thank you all again!
So I recently ported from Sprint to Verizon and now to ATT within a little over a month. After just completing the port to AT&T I am getting strange email notifications about a voicemail I missed which seems to be for totally different people.
No notifications are showing on my phone and when I check my phone it is saying I have none. However almost daily now I am getting email alerts and the voice message attached of a email to someone else.
When I hoover over the message on gmail it shows up as @smsvoice.sprint.com all coming from 724 area code. This didn't happen with the month I spent on Verizon, just a day or so after getting my number ported from Verizon to ATT and getting the phone up and going.
Phone is a LG G4, bone stock.
The software used to play the messages showing through email is called Smith Micro Software.
Would like to figure out why I'm getting these. If anyone has experienced this or knows what it is I would greatly appreciate it.
Hello,
To better assist you, your thread will be moved to your device Q&A forum linked below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help
The experts there may be able to help. Good luck.
It's more likely connected to the operator, rather than the phone.
I searched here and google and saw only a few hits on google, but there wasn't much information. I recommended a Robin when they were on super-sale a few months ago to a friend. She is a teacher and says that several parents who text her aren't getting through, although she can text them on her Robin using T-Mo SIM. She said that the T-Mo guy said he wasn't familiar with the Robin and told her to get a new phone
I told her that it sounded impossible since all text, voice and data is universal and that a phone should not be able to discriminate what carrier the text originated from.
I had her DL Android Messenger and try that as her text app and she said "it didn't work" although I didn't press her what exactly didn't work w. the app because we were emailing each other. Also had her restart. I asked her if she knew if these VZN/ATT people were on iPhones (maybe the people were trying to text her on iMessage (or whatever the iOS text app is called?) but she wasn't sure. She also has access to a Verizon flip phone that her brother has and she says that indeed texts from his phone don't go through to her phone.
She's going to let me look at the phone this weekend and I plan on checking if there are any filtering or settings that might be causing her not to get texts from VZN or ATT phones and then clearing the text app's (not sure what the default text app is on the Robin) data. She says that she can get texts from T-Mo and she will be bringing the brother's VZN phone for me to test. I will report back what / if anything that I find in this thread.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions what might be causing this / have ever heard of such a thing?
TIA
