[Q] Rooted with .434 firmware (4.1.2), Upgraded via OTA, Now Unsure on Root Status?

Hello,
I recently got myself an Xperia ZL C6502 with unloackable bootloader. It came loaded with the .434 firmware (Android Version 4.1.2.), and so I rooted using this method here: ROOT MANY ANDROID v31 by Bin4ry. (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460&highlight=434)
Then I updated via OTA to the .244 firmware (4.2.2) thinking that root would hold through the OTA update. I ran a factory reset afterward, hearing that is good for performance.
The strange thing is, now that I've updated, I'm unsure on root status.
For starters, AVG says I am operating in higher permission mode, aka root is enabled. However, Titanium Backup can't get root access permissions, and when I try to manually update the binary of Superuser 3.1.1 (it's the most current version but I tried anyway), it told me root access failed.
Even stranger is that when I load up Flashtool (latest version as of this date of posting) it tells me Root Access Allowed.
Can anybody help shed some light on this issue I'm having? Apps that require root aren't given permission, Superuser doesn't seem to detect the fact that my device is rooted, yet AVG and Flashtool are telling me that it is.
Thanks in advance.
Any ideas?

This may not be the answer you want to hear but if I was you, I would flash a clean 244 build with Flashtool and then root. No more mysteries about whether or not root is there or not ... or if it's a broken root.
You will have a fully rooted latest build of 4.2.2.
Its really easy, only takes 15 min.

Thanks for your reply
Yes I had considered that, but I was wondering if I had encountered some kind of show-stopping bug or what-not. Ultimately, doing a clean flash is a last resort, but definitely an option. If anybody else has any idea why this might be, or has encountered this issue before, please do respond!

[Q] Note 2 unroot problems.

Hello guys, I am a newbie over here, so please do not hate for any misunderstanding on my part. I recently got a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100, and rooted it a while back. Now, I did not find use for the root, so I unrooted it via SuperSu, which may be the root of the problem, I do not know. So, when I unrooted it, I tried to update my phone via the OTA update section on the device, where the 'Checking for software updates..' popup would not go, even after waiting for quite a while. When I downloaded a few root checker apps, they did not work as well. I am confused whether my device is rooted, or not. And if I want to completely bring it to the state where it was, when I brought it, what do I have to do?
Again, I do not understand how Android rooting works, fully, and it was quite stupid of me to root. Please help!
Thanks for you time, guys.
Your flash counter isn't at 0 I think or your system status isn't official.
To revert back to an official state use this guide by Dr.Ketan => check your counter if 0 and flash a Stock firmware should solve your issue.
If your counter isn't at 0 you'll need to install root permissions to be able to use Triangle Away.

[Q] Used Odin3 to root, cant open SuperSU want to go back safely to dry again

Hi,
This is a great site.
I am doing this cause I deleted some photos by accident and want to use one single program that needs the phone to be rooted. Because there is no mass storage connectivity you know how it goes.
I used Odin3 to install "CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5" to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with Android 4.3.
Odin says "PASS!". When I try to start the SuperSU (version 2.01, was installed by Odin and CANT BE UPDATED in the play store, not even removed only opened form play store. This was the most common fix that people are giving to this situation, but it does not work for me because there is no update possibility) Because KNOX says unauthorized attempt to access not accessible areas. SuperSU does not prompt the possibility to terminate KNOX like some people are advising to do, even tough the 2.01 version of SuperSU should be able to do this. Even the RootChecker says that my phone is not rooted.
So my assumption is that the Root has not worked on my phone even tough Odin says so. So I want to try some other approach to root this phone. I just would like to know should I do some check for what Odin HAS changed in my phone and to try to change them back so I can for example try Kingos root safely.
So the questions are:
Does some one have a possible fix to my problem without me having to re root?
How can and what should I check before trying another root?
If I have to go back with stuff that Odin did, without it doing the root properly how can I do that?
And one a bit different question:
If I factory reset my phone it will install the 4.1 I thin on it, has no KNOX, will it write that on the part that is empty and might include that data of my deleted pictures or does it write it on the area that has the previous data of the Android system?
Thanks for advance if there is any advises.
Partial answer:
I followed basicly this instruction,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991
just needed to find the correct TWRP for my phone and used the older 1.65 SuperSU, there is something wrong with the 2.01 and it compatibility with my phone.
This video also helped cause the information was similar to the one in the link.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQAkLgXjnCo
Installed the DiskDigger and got most of the photos, so now I need to find out how to convert it from root version to version so I can upgrade my phone.
Everything is really easy with Odin. If the packet that I installed with it first that does't istall the custom recovery system would have had some other KNOX combatible version of SuperSU I think it would have worked. No I just needed to use the KNOX remover to remove it from my phone.
Thanks for the form all the answers where her and it just took me some time.

[Q] Help Please? Rom but no root? Newly purchased on swappa

Newly purchased at&t note II from swappa. All is well, phone in great shape... But seller believes the device to be rooted, but I can't seem to verify that. In settings it states running ezKat rom.... But superuser says no binary. But an app from playstore requested superuser access? Im confused. Downloaded terminal emulator shows $, not #.
Is it possible to have custom rom but not be rooted? Thanks!
Flash supersu via recovery and you should be good...
http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/
Once booted....superuser may request a binary update...
If it does...just install it under the "normal" option...
Happy flashing....g
Thanks.... But...
Unfortunately, it didn't work. I flashed. Tried root checker. No root. Reflashed. Nope. The original owner sent me the file he flashed, that didn't work either. Im guessing at this point I should start from scratch? Full factory reset? . Ive never reset a phone that wasnt stock before? . The phone has twrp installed? Showing ezKat in the about phone section? At a loss... Dont want to brick it, I don't need a paperweight. Just want root
Any advice for me?
And THANK YOU!! I. Can't seem to find the thanks function here...
Yeh...
I'd probably go back and start fresh with an Odin back to stock 4.1.1...
Then root again...g

Help with not being able to flash recovery

Hello everyone
I rooted with kingo root I checked to make sure I have root access which I do. I have titanium back up pro, busy box and SU. I tried to use rom manager and I get and error that I can't flash the recovery.
I did some reading and saw that people liked twrp so I downloaded that and I'm getting the same result.
Not sure if I didn't something wrong or what.
Knox had been shut off so that shouldn't be the issue.
I just want a newer version software so I don't feel so outdated lol
Please any and all help would be great.
