Tasker Help Needed - Nexus 7 (2013) Themes and Apps

I need to make a task that opens a specific app, clicks a button then chooses an option and then closes the app. I KNOW this must be possible. I just don't know how to go about. And please don't tell me that if my app isn't supported in 3rd Party then give up. I DONT believe it...

You'll have to go into developer settings and enable pointer locations and find the locations . Then go to tasker and enable it. I'll find the video. Look up Tasker Tuesday's on YouTube

hey thanks wow!
I found tasker Tuesday but what video is it? ☺ BTW, thanks for the little bit of feedback you gave me. I knew there was a way now we just need to find the YouTube video!
PS: how do I enable that in tasker settings?

-Open App
-Run Shell Command "input tap X Y" (I run with root, not sure if its necessary)
-Kill App
You may need some waits in between those to make sure the app is finished opening before the tap occurs. I use this to automatically run my Bing Rewards Automator everyday to get points on both my phone and tablet.
PS - Under the phones settings, you will need to enable a pointer location setting to determine exactly where that X and Y coordinate are located on you phone.

Example
Here is a quick screenshot of how I open Bing Rewards Automator, click where I want (30 auto searches), give it time to complete those searches (trial and error), kill the app, return my wifi to off if it was off before I started the task (maybe not necessary for your portion of the task).

[APP] LocationAware v0.3, PCBuddy {14th April 2010}

Location Aware is an automatic volume profile switcher.
This application works out of the data received from GSM signals.(NO CDMA)
so almost all windows mobile devices can use it.I developed it on my elf and it seems it is working
Requires GSM network, Windows Mobile , .Net CF 3.5
1. Battery Friendly, No active background process.
2. No GPS needed.
3. User configurable interval to check for location.
4. Can save settings automatically v0.3
Well it works like this: (May change per version)
1. Install it.
2. Open the Location Aware(from programs)
3. When ever you start the app it will vibrate the device 2 times and then asks "Add this Location".
4. Click OK and it prompts to save the volume level for this location and save.
5. Adjust the volume level as you desire from the Slider on right hand side of screen.
6. Then goto Menu and Save Location Mode, this should save the setting for this location(Prompt will be displayed).
7. Now you can let the application run itself every X mins to check for new location and prompt you whenever a new location is found.
8. To set the interval time goto Menu -> "Stopped" this should open up a panel to enter the interval time, fill it and click set. "Stopped" should be changed to "Running". Now you can Exit.
9. If prompt is not dismissed or OKayed within 1 min(Automode). It dismisses itself and will prompt again if new location is found after next X mins.
10. The limit for interval is 2-60 mins, that means the app will run itself after every X mins and check for location, if a new location is found it vibrates
and then asks you to save this location or not, in case you dont respond to it, it will close itself after 1 min.
and in case the location was already saved it will automatically apply the volume profile.
Basically as you keep on using it the database keeps on growing and in parallel profile settings gets more customized.
PS: You may notice that the taskbar volume indicator is not changed, but that is normal. The volume setting is still applied as per your choice this issue is fixed in v0.3
V0.2
1. No alert popup will be displayed to inform select n save the location.
2. Save the location mode directly by clicking the volume level image.
v0.3
1. Reflect the volume level changes in the taskbar volume icon
2. New mode added "AutoSave", enabling it makes the app save new location automatically with the last volume preference, whenever a new location is found.
PS. AutoSave mode works in Scheduled mode, if you have set the app to run after a scheduled interval with autosave mode enabled and it detects a new location it will prompt a message-box, if you don't give it a response i.e ignore it, it will add the location automatically after 1 min and will dismiss itself.
for users of previous versions:
It will use the already existing database of location settings, just install it over the previous version.
PCBuddy
This app is used to plot all the collected points by the location aware app on google maps.
Unzip the files and then copy the locations.db file from your device to the same folder on your system. Once the file has been copied Run CreateMap.exe this should generate a html file in the same folder. Run that and see for yourself
Please replace the dll in PCBuddy with the one in 64Bit.zip in case you are using a 64Bit Windows
Suggested setting:
For the first time I suggest to keep the interval at around 5 mins so that it can grab almost all the desired locations. once you feel it is having settings for your daily use u may turn the interval to a higher(suggested 15 mins) so that it can apply the volume settings for the known locations.

Great idea !
By using GSM signal to get your position you avoid to use the gps which take more time to get position + a little battery consumption.
We certainly can find a lot of functions linked to this automatic profile/location system
I will try your app

Great Concept!!!!
Just saw your P.S. that the volume icon will not change accordingly...but it works as intended. (Please Fix) Is there a radius on the set locations? I work across the street from our main mall, is why I ask.
I love this concept as I saw the other O.S. had a similar app. (Sweet Dreams)

understood your concerns about the radius thing but thaz not in myhands as that thing is dependent on lot of factors like, your disance from tower, signal strength etc. But still you may experiment if you get new location alert in case you are at your office.

Re mohitsapru,
i tested your app on my HD, it worked well
I have one suggestion to ease the way we can use it, an option like 'Save the actual sound profile automatically when a new unknown position is found'
Then we can move without thinking about it but it will be good as an enabled/disabled option.
Good job !

Does this app able to detect the change of location if the device switched off(suspended) by power button?
For example:
1. Save volume setting at location A and location B
2. At location A, press power button to turn off the device
3. Move the device from location A to location B
4. Will the volume be changed automatically (without turning on the device) at location B?

I have run it on my Samsung I900 Omnia and i think it works perfect.
But here some ideas:
It would be great if you can add 2 or more cells to 1 location (Because i have here to cells at home, and if I use UMTS 3G i had another one)
If you write the cell id a little bit greater.
And expert mode were you add name for cells (i see this wish earlier here, too), and can add more things.

Tasker/Locale NFC Plugin

I just purchased this plugin to use with Tasker:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/....&purchaseButton=9yzEcX63VIYisA_oRMh13HqYUXs=
Seems to work ok, but ever time it scans my NFC tag it pops up a dialogue asking if I want to "Activate NFC condition" or "New tag collected". I just want it to kick off the action in Tasker without any dialogue. Anyone have experience with this plugin, or should I use something else?
Nevermind... got it working with NFC ReTAG FREE. Works great! Don't mess with the app I posted a link to above, it's a pain to use.
Glad you like NFC ReTag ;-)

Hi kimboinatl!
I'm the developer of the NFC plugin for Locale. The reason why this chooser pops-up is because there are multiple apps on your phone that can handle the NFC-tag that was scanned.
This can be solved by either disabling the other apps that the NFC scan action can choose from or you can create a unique tag following this guide.
I'm glad that you have been able to solve your needs with NFC ReTAG.
May I ask what it is that makes it a pain to use ? The feedback is greatly appreciated so that I might make it more pain free for other users.
Kind Regards

Hey m3llon,
I think the the problem was getting rid of the popup. Typically when there are multiple apps that can be launched from an action my phone gives me the option to select a default, but I couldn't do it in this case. I spent a while trying to figure out how to disable the popup, or if there was another app that was causing this, and had no luck, so I ended up uninstalling it. If there was a way to specify what the default action was I probably would have kept the plugin. Sorry if my feedback sounded a bit harsh, I was just grumpy after not being able to get it to work the way I wanted it to. Thanks for checking in with me about it, I appreciate the work you have put into it.

Just in case anyone else has issues with the popup, I find that using non-formatted tags doesn't produce a popup. Once the tag is formatted, or if you buy them preformatted, it doesn't look like it can be UNformatted though (wiped, yes.. but not unformatted)
When I first got my GS3 and started scanning everything possible, I found that some tags would produce the popup discussed (despite having no other nfc apps installed), and others wouldn't.. I ended up realising that unformatted tags don't produce the popup.
I ended up using the Tasker/Locale NFC Plugin as I didn't want something else running all the time when I had Tasker for that - and since the plugin uses the serial number (or what I assume is a serial number - it's different on each tag) rather than what's written on the tag itself, there's no need to format it - Same would apply with NFC ReTAG.
So as long as any tags are unformatted, you should be good to go.
So I bought the plugin and wrote the bad://access/developer URL to one of my tags. I scan it and Locale reacts accordingly.
But then what? Locale is in that situation forever.

Yes, you will have to scan another tag to exit the situation.
For using Tasker with NFC Tags I like Tasker URL Launcher the best. Once installed you simply write a short URL that ends with the name of your Tasker Task to a tag then anytime you tap that tag it intiates that Tasker Task.
I did at one time have issues with those pop-ups (new tag collected) and through much searching found that I needed to disable a system app on my Galaxy S3 called "Tags". It wasn't there on ICS, but was after the update to Jelly Bean so not sure if it's something Android added into JB and not sure why they would or what it's purpose is, but disabling it fixed the annoying pop-up issue and has had no affect on reading/writing tags with various apps.

They can be unformatted. Using NFC TagWriter by NXP (which I LOVE), you choose Tools > Clean. This resets the tag to factory default (unformatted). NXP manufactures the Xperia tags, they make nice products.

Thanks for that.. That definitely wasn't the case when I wrote the post as I'd tried with numerous apps (including NFC Tagwriter, which is also my go to app for writing) and using the Clear option left the tag wiped, but did not leave it in the same state as prior to formatting.
Also, the developer of the app implemented a direct url that could be written to the tags so that only this app is launched - so the need for unformatted tags (when using this app at least) is somewhat moot.
I have this app and I must say it makes building tasks extremely tedious.
If you want to scan the same tag twice, you have to put an action in your task to disable the first task after the first one is done and then put a disable of the task you are running in the second task.
Also, both need to run as exit tasks.
It would have helped if the dev used some better logic and came up with exit tasks on repetitive scan

You can also use the app StartNFC Expert to "unformat" a tag. It's a great simple app for formatting/unformatting and testing tags and seeing what types they are etc.
It's extremely disappointing they the developer has completely abandoned this plugin.
Solution
Hello !
A solution I found to avoid this popup :
- Scan a tag (popup appears)
- Long press on the unwanted app
- Choose disable
- Enjoy the plugin
You can also go to your apps list and search "tags" and disable it
Hopefully pent does something with NFC in the next version of Tasker so we can be rid of this unsupported plugin.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Hoping someone is still using this plugin and can answer my question...
Do I have to have two tags if I want an on / off tasks? For example, I have hue lights and I would like to turn off the bedroom light on / off with the same NFC tag but not sure if that is possible
No.. Just use the check box for repetitive scan
Ignore: Haha I accidentally posted in the wrong thread.

Tasker + Google Assistant?

Is it possible to have voice commands handled by google assistant routed to tasker?
Support exists for IFTTT, where I can create custom voice inputs from Google Assistant, and have any of the registered services IFTTT supports - handle it. Which is awesome! But IFTTT is so limiting in what it can do, and was wondering if we could get Tasker to handle it instead...or find a way for IFTTT to call a Tasker Task? If not Tasker, support for "Automate"?
Its possible using IFTTT as the middleman: http://forum.joaoapps.com/index.php?resources/use-google-assistant-for-autovoice-commands.207/
Wow, that's unnecessarily complex! There's a web request being made outside for the command to pass thru for Tasker to eventually handle it! I guess it makes sense to wait for native integration with assistant API when made available.
I think AutoVoice may have some modules for Tasker + voice integration.
I was going to look into it at some point in the future.
Utter was pretty bad assed but afaik, the developer abandoned it before he got all the bugs worked out.
It did do some pretty cool stuff though.
---------- Post added at 11:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:34 AM ----------
Semi on topic... I am so annoyed that Secure Settings for Tasker was abandoned.
EDIT: Secure Settings works properly with newer SuperSU that is now available.
Any update on this? Now that Google has exposed assistant apis

Check out ifttt on android. You can create your own phrase/sentence that google assistant will pick up and pass over to your own application to handle. This is really powerful if you can get tasker to handle stuff for you. Right now, Google assistant integrates with ifttt and you could get ifttt to let any of the "services" made for ifttt handle that request. Right now tasker isn't one of them and ifttt has a limited range of things you can do with it.

Cool I just downloaded ifttt... Does that travel cross devices... For instance if I set up the assistant on my phone to do something would it also work with my google home
I've been reading up on this and it's working pretty good. I'm using this to use voice commands to trigger my Yatse android remote to pause/resume playback.
Would be great if they find another way to trigger Tasker apart from having to use Join, for which I only have a 30 day trial and I'm not sure i'm going to use Join apart for this functionality and it's a bit steep for full version for only that.
Auto voice says Google now/assistant integration on my device. I tried to test it but the only auto voice task I currently have properly setup is something assistant appears to natively support (maybe Google now does to now, but not when I created the task).
I used to have a bunch of stuff setup for controlling my Harmony hub but I started re-writing it into one task using if/variables and haven't finished it.
Auto voice would definitely be the best way to go if you're looking to do things with tasked.
Edit:I just had a closer look at auto voice, it say assistant while be support when API is public but gave a work around.

Yah it states in that article that once the Assistant API is made public, much of the process will be "baked into Autovoice."
Currently the cumbersome method is the workaround by the developer. The functionality is pretty much a linking of voice commands to Tasker actions.
Eventually this may be exactly what you want. Assistant API is coming eventually which will allow apps like Autovoice to do more and integrate or bridge "assistant" with "tasker".
Somehow I expect Google to leave the "native integration" bare bones as with Ambient Display, letting apps like Ambi-Turner do more, as well as different device and ROM manufacturers customizing and baking different features into stock.
Anyway, thanks for this thread. I appreciate learning about Autovoice.

You sure can. It’s ugly because the API isn’t out but it’s incredibly easy to do!
Create an IFTTT applet that sends you a text that matches a Tasker profile.
The example below toggles between two known WiFi networks. If you’re connected to 123 then you’ll be moved to 987, if you were on 987 then you’ll move to 123
To activate:
Say: "Ok Google"
After the beep, say: "Switch network", "Change network", or "Alternate network"
IFTTT
Trigger: Google Assistant
Phrase 1: “Switch Network”
Phrase 2: “Change Network”
Phrase 3: “Alternate Network”
Response: “Ok, switching to the alternate Wi-Fi network”
Action = Send SMS
Number: “555-555-5555”
Message: “ifttt change wifi network”
Tasker
Profile: Event = Received Text
Sender: “optional name”
Message: “ifttt change wifi network”
Task 1: WIFI Connect
Configuration: “123network”
Timeout: “optional number”
If: %WIFII ~ *”987network” *
Task 2: WIFI Connect
Configuration: “987network”
Timeout: “optional number”
If: %WIFII ~ *”123network” *
Note:
Anything inside “ “ is just dummy data, you’d change to suite your needs
The variable %WIFII holds information about the connected WiFi network
You can omit the sender name and in some circumstances, it may be desirable.
Example: automatically sharing your location, turn volume on to help find a misplaced phone

Download Tasker app factory. Create your Task. Export your Task as an app. Go to Google Assistant Settings -> Shortcuts and Set it up. For example 1. Turn off the Screen 2. Screen off and in the field which decide what Google Assistant really do you just put the command "run nameofyourapp"
Thats it
In Most Launcher you can just hide your new app so you can make a lot of them without spamming you app list

Double tap to explore

I own a galaxy watch 46 mm (not the active or the active 2) and since a couple of weeks I get an annoying message on the screen.
Every once in a while it shows 'Double tap to explore', underneath the text there is a hand with an upward pointing outstretched finger.
I have to push the home and the back buttons a few times before the actual homescreen is shown.
Up to now I haven't found how to disable this.
Some days ago I upgraded to the latest DSL1 version of the firmware but the behaviour remains the same.
I went into settings and disabled as many notifications as I could but I haven't seen something about this message.
Does anybody know what this is and how to disable it?
If you reset your watch and are about to re-link it to your phone, you can enter a menu in which you can activate the double tap. I've activated it once to see what it does. It got deactivated after a hatd reset, so that's what I would suggest.
How to hard reset your watch is shown e.g. here: https://youtu.be/-_v4t5OK2ZY

A hard reset is of course an option, the double-tap to explore must be a feature that was introduced after I bought the watch.
Can this option be found somewhere in the settings?
If possible I like to disable it without resetting, I don't like reinstalling, it is not as bad as it can be with Windows but it still is a reinstallation.

Well, I could not wait and did a hard reset.
When starting I did not see the menu you are talking about.
I had a look at the setting you pointed at, it was already off but I still get the double tap notification
Did another hard reset.
At boot time you can go to an accessibility menu, over thee you can find Advanced settings and then the two finger triple tap.
This is something you can find later on in the settings too but it does not enable or disable the 'double tap to explore' notification.
It should be something else,

Do you use watchfacemaker?
I think the notification is one of the many bugs from the watchface manager (great features but it is buggy as hell)
Try to use any of the new watchfaces added by the team exclusively for galaxy users leave them for some seconds and then try to change them again to your desired face.
I saw they announced the gift faces in the notes of the last version. Perhaps they added this promotional intrusion.
For me, it seemed to work.
Good luck!

Well I use watchmaker (package name = slide.WatchFrenzy).
On play I can find WatchMaker Watch Faces and Watch Face -WatchMaker Premium for Android Wear OS.
I think you are talking about the second one, I have the first one.
Anyway I'll try another one of the Samsung watchfaces and see if the problem disappears, I will ask the creator of the app if this message comes from his app,
I include a printscreen from the app I'm using,

Please note that there is Android app and Watch app. I think the error is being caused by the watch app and has got nothing to do with the Android app.
Android app has not updated for a while (so no issues in play store), but Watch app received update a few days ago 5.7.8 (so you have to check Galaxy Store, watch section).
(regarding watch app - be sure you are using new version (https://galaxystore.samsung.com/det...session_id=W_66c489edab40112abcb925da3c25c1ae) not legacy (https://galaxystore.samsung.com/geardetail/slide.watchFrenzy).
Good luck!

So far I did not change watchface or contact the developer.
But I installed the latest version of Galaxy Wear 5.7.9 and the last few days I do not get that reminder anymore.
Wait and see if I have to take action.

New Way to Bypass LG - Google Factory Reset Protetion on VARIOUS Devices!!

New Way to Bypass LG - Google Factory Reset Protection on VARIOUS Devices!
Ignore the poor grammar, typos etc.. Bits and pieces from notes.
--needed--
bluetooth (needed)
data cable (needed)
computer (needed)
Factory reset phone, forward through setup wizard and turn on wifi then... --->
enable service menu with tool - so youll need to select the modem port then on the app goto "open port lg" then after this goto option "open hidden menu" now you are in the hidden menu. --->
goto - on hidden menu .. field test -> gps test -> gnss test or gns pos test -> now youll see a warning screen hit ok. youll now be in location within settings ---->
turn on -> google location history at bottom click it -> top right 3 dots click then view/manage which brings you out to maps.. now hit back button and you will be in maps now.
-
online way - online way into the removal process
offline way - offline way around and into the removal process
-online way -> Hit top left 3 bars and then start driving and set destinations to KFC for example, start driving then press the mic at top right and say "settings"
[Online] In settings goto Apps -> disable and force stop if you want, google play services, both setup wizards, google account manager, and google services framework and also clear data for each also if you want
Next reboot, and when phone opens up to setup wizard use your bluetooth and say open google or just press it and on the google screen when it pops up search for example gmail then scroll down through the results until you see a big gmail icon and 3 dots to the left.. hit these and share.. it might also look like a share icon instead then share to msgs ... put in a random number and some txt, attach your location by hitting the paperclip. make sure to send it (doesnt actuially go through unless youve active service card in..)
Click on the location link and click connect and it will open up maps, start a route, start driving then push the microphone and say open settings. When settings opens up goto Security and enable unknwon sources.. press bluetooth again and say open google or toggle back to the google search screen (bluetooth is your best bet as UI will crash sometimes and put you back at the setup wizard)
When google opens click on the G at top left then search for example "frp video youtube" for example.. scroll down results until you see a youtube site link and click on it. This *should* open up youtube once it opens up top right click and goto about and this will open chrome ..now search in google this http://google.com
download these: (your typical stuff for example "vnrom_frp, gam_6.0, apex launcher (or any other launcher... id suggeat older versions as newer can reset your order and land you back at the setup wizard) .
[Offline] Hit 3 left lines at top and then go down to offline areas and youll see offline areas settings then click on settings under "to save your cellular data while using google maps" click top right 3 dots and click show tab view now all the settings sections are back
Turn on bluetooth and pair ear piece incase you mess up and need to get back to zomewhere
Follow through as you would online version.
Let me know if you find the AT commands!
Credits for app attached in next post goto those Yemen Fellas who have so far been able to bypass anything in front of them LG/Samsung Carrier - Sprint!! Tracfone --> FRP/Unlock
Credits also to XDA user @CXZa as if it weren't for him i probably would not have looked deeper into AT commands (still have barely scratched the surface).
almost forgot... here is the app to use in the steps leading into the OS for factory reset bypass.
Tap this and that.. These are kind of fun - sometimes. Sometimes quite complicated.
This one is for LG m250f 2017. Should work for mine too, m250n.
(Two seconds wasted...)
Not long ago I accidentally removed my Google account when testing vold triggers.
Simply by doing
setprop vold.decrypt trigger_shutdown_framework
and
setprop vold.decrypt trigger_restart_min_framework
did the trick. Other accounts are kept and no resets, etc... only but is that you have to have a root access...
The min framework was totally empty of icons, didn't ask for the pin.
I don't how the trick works on other devices. It was a LG...
To restart normally after it.
setprop vold.decrypt trigger_reset_main
setprop vold.decrypt trigger_restart_framework
Thanks. I will take a look. Almost seems like everything I am doing is too much. These LG devices are a tad bit more difficult in areas i guess you could say.
also.. hope you ignored all the other b#ll**** I had in the removal guide ha.. simply my personal notes.

There isn't any good or bad, nor better in these, IMO. As long as some method works it has done its job perfectly.
Yeah, many times LG is in a league of its own, in many ways...
