[Q] controlling ouya in CWM - Ouya Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When booting into CWM, I have no control over the ouya. There is only one button on the top, and that works as the enter key, but I have not figured out how to scroll. Anyone know how to scroll or control in cwm?

USB keyboard is the only way

A simple computer mouse works too but it has to be plugged in before you reboot into recovery

Power button not working but powers on when plugged in

Hey all. I have been having problems with my Samsung Epic 4g. The power button doesn't work anymore and I thought maybe if I purchased a jig, I could put it into recovery mode and reset it using that. It only allows me to put it into download mode. Is there any way that I could get into recovery mode without a physical button?
If you are rooted download quick boot from the play store. It has a boot to recovery option.

Its not rooted and doesn't power on of course any alternatives?
Use odin and flash cwm5 and use it to reset it or use odin to reset the whole phone.
Although it sounds more like a hardware issue, try taking it to a sprint store

He can't . No power button means no download mode. And if usb debugging isn't on then adb won't help either.

He says in his first post that his usb jig only allows him to be put into download mode and from there he can do whatever

You could try holding down your power button and frantically plugging in and pulling out your USB cable.
It should eventually power on.

Ah, the jig...yes you are correct. So download mode is an option holding the 1 key when popping in the jig.
Once its all rooted you can remap the power button to the camera button. I dunno what free apps can do this but I know widget locker can do it. It works fairly well at the expense of some ram and of course your camera button however this won't work to turn it on only when its already on.

OP: If you know your English is bad (assuming English is not your native tongue) then you should at least become familiar with Google Translate
Turn off the phone, go into recovery by pressing and holdimg the power and both volume rockers, then do a factory reset. That should fix your problem

All i want is a Lock Screen but not a pattern nor a pin. On my old SGS2 i just would pick a pic for the Lock Screen Wallpaper and all i had to do was slide the picture and it would unlock it. I cant seem to find the settings at all. And before my old phone i would press my power button it will ask to turn off airplane mode this one just will turn it off if I even press the power button. It was not rooted my old phone
I was typing the above on my phone. Sorry

Well then you will have learn to cope with your issue. Resetting or re-flashing is about the only thing you can do to fix the problem. It was probably due to a bad flash.

OK I see. Umm you could try fixing permissions via cwm. Do you have any other lock screen applications or have you had?

Nope never a lock screen app at all. On neither i guess i might just root this ***** lol cause is getting on my nerves and look for a better rom cause this stock rom sucks
Like I said the only solution I can think of is doing a reset. When I received my 2nd SGS2 thru the warranty it had this same issue. It had no lockscreen and no power menu. When I press and hold the power button it would just turn off the phone. The factory reset was the only thing that fixed it.

But i mine is not rooted so how can i access it ?
To perform a hard reset using the hardware keys, follow these steps:
1) Back up all necessary data that is on the internal memory.
2) Turn off the device.
3) Press and hold both Volume Up and Volume Down keys at the same time.
4) Press the Power key only until the phone vibrates once, then release only the Power key.
5) Continue to hold the Volume up and Volume Down keys until the Android System Recovery screen appears.
6) Press the Volume Down key to highlight Wipe Factory Data.
7) Press the Home key to select.
8) Press the Volume Down key to highlight Yes - Delete all user data.
9) Press the Home key to select.
10) Press the Home key to reboot.
This worked like a charm !!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20506622&postcount=2

Problem with CMW and clearing data/cache

Whenever I try to clear these, the cwm logo is blown up on the screen and is the only thing that appears. Any suggestions?

[Q] Safe Mode Troubleshooting

HI, I have been having a Terrible lag issue with my SGH-497 (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1). I can Swype or tap something and it take almost 5-8 second for it respond. I want to troubleshoot the reason behind this. I have successfully started it in Safe mode (starting it and holding down the volume down button). Here, everything seems to work perfectly. On a computer, I can usually figure out what the culprit is, but on the droid, I can't. How do I figure out what app is causing my issue? If I go to the task manager on droid, and clear the RAM, it would close about 40 apps... too many to try one by one...lol
Thanks in advance!
Just a quick tip: you can reboot into safe mode by holding down the power button until the power off prompt pops up. Then long press power off.

Well if you go to the real task manager app can't you see exactly what's using all the ram?

Yeah, I went into safemode. In the task manager there are 0 (zero) apps running. When I clear the RAM, 20 apps close..... but no clue what they are. My tablet also responds much better in safemode.... that's what I'm trying to figure out what is causing the lag...
