Modem once flash is "permanent" unless you flashed a different modem. Flahing ROM, restoring ROM ect. does not affect the modem.

I just flashed to this rom from stock rooted 4.2.2 last night and I am having the data loss on wake issue described here, I am on the MDL baseband and have twice done the procedure as outlined to supposed success but upon checking I'm still on MDL?
Still having Issues with Mobile Signal
I have flashed the MK2 modem successfully but ever since doing so my mobile signal is TERRIBLE! I live in a major city and have never had issues with signal until now. I just went back in and confirmed the MK2 modem did install as it says: "M919UVUEMK2" under base band version. Any ideas on what I could try to fix this?
Thanks,
Drew
Worked third try, everything seems good so far now.
Tried searching the forum and couldnt find anything on this topic.
On my T-Mobile S3, I get this issue when I try to call somebody, it just comes back with "Call Ended" and I can't call anybody. This problems just comes back up few times in a day and at times I am perfectly fine for a couple of days.
The only way to resolve this is by rebooting the phone or my going into the Airplane mode and coming back to normal.
Currently running the Stockmod rom by DocHoliday77 with UVUEMJC Modem.
I am tried reinstalling the rom again by doing a complete factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik etc, but the problem is still there.
Googled it and seems like the same problem is happening with AT&T and other carriers.
Not sure if any of you guys are noticing the same issue and if you have any fix for it.
Please advise.
I get the same thing on my T-Mobile Galaxy S3, (Non-LTE) running stock unrooted OTA 4.3. Baseband version T999UVUEMJC.
Its a known problem with 4.3 on s3 sadly.. The only thing I can advise is to try going back to 4.1.2 or 4.1.1 by flashing a custom ROM and see if that helps while a fix is pushed by the carriers
Edit: although you will trip the warranty counter if you updated to official 4.3 or 4.3 ota update

OP, If you have just flashed Doc's Rom without actually updating the bootloader, then try another modem. If you have updated bootloader, then you are out of luck. In the latter case, you may try the UVUEMJ4 modem Doc posted.

I have tried using the UVUEMJ4 modem that Doc posted and its the same problem with that modem too.
Have you applied the Stock OTA Update ? If not, then try one of the other modems from Doc's other thread. If you had updated to Stock 4.3 then you will have to take up with T-Mo.

You need either MJC or MJ4 modem to have service in 4.3.. You can try changing modems but I doubt it'll work.. This is a bug in 4.3 for s3, T-Mobile needs to fix it

Sorry for confusion, I am running doc's stock mod 4.3
Seems like my best bet is to downgrade to 4.1.2, do u agree ?
Downgrade the Modem not the Rom. Only downgrade the Rom if you still have signal issues after modem downgrade.
i'm trying to get my Gear to function properly (or atleast get notifications to work).
A little confused where to start... I'm hoping a stock ROM with root will work.
Can someone point me to a HOW TO to install a stock rooted rom for my m919?
Right now I have the Infamous GE 4.4.2 ROM on my s4.

Go to http://SamMobile.com and download the 4.3 Tmobile M919 USA stock official rom.
Odin flash the stock rom and be sure to do a full wipe before flashing.
Always make a nandroid backup in recovery before flashing anything.
Good luck!

Or you could download a CWM-flashable stock/rooted ROM from the Android Development section and flash that. Which ones are stock/rooted? Read the OP. The information will be there. Be sure to update your modem as well.

Take in count that by flashing the MK2 stock tar you will end up with the knox bootloader. If you trip the knox flag you will not be entitled to warranty work. If that does not matter to you, then go ahead and flash ;b
Your best bet to prevent this is to get a stock rom cwm flashable that does not include the bootloader.
thanks everyone.
just so i'm clear (i already soft bricked my phone), you all suggest getting the cwm stock rom and update my modem first?

I had the same thing happen to me. The only way to fix it is to flash the full MK2 firmware in Odin. I used this file
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=9872
It will trip your Knox counter. Good luck.
I don't really understand what you are saying. What did you do? Were you on 4.2 and flashed the mk2 modem or bootloader? Can you state your android version and baseband? If you only flashed the mk2 modem then you can revert by flashing the mdl modem. If you flashed the mk2 bootloader and modem then you can't go back to MDL and have tripped Knox. You can get your sound and everything back by flashing the official mk2 firmware. I need more info so I can help.

Wipe dalvik and cache if you're back on stock. If you're rooted then try a different kernel. You can also edit your build.prop from: ro.securestorage.support=true to ro.securestorage.support=false. Good luck!

Hi guys,
I have two T-mobile galaxy s4 M919, one is on MDL firmware and the other is on MK2 firmware.
Here is a few question I really need your wisdom and suggestion.
1. For the MDL firmware, I have simunlocked and rooted it. Also installed TWRP.
Now I am loooking to install the Omega kitkat rom v30. In its installation instruction it requires as following:
Flash the new bootloder and modems with odin
Bootloader -> BL_I9505XXUFNAD_481100_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
If you already have the new Kit Kat bootloader there is no need to flash it again.
Modems XXUFNC9 -> I9505XXUFNC9_GSM_LTE_Modems.tar
My questions are :
1). Do I need to update my t-mobile bootloader? ( I know should use t-mobile ones). I know if updated could not go back.
2). I thinks I need to install a kitkat modem, which one should I use? Or I should just flash the KT-SGS4 - MJ5 kernel ?
3). If I just want to flash the Insane rom, do I also need to flash bootloader and flash NB4 modem?
Now is questions for the other phone.
2. For the phone with MK2 firnware s4 ( this is another Phone!), I have been following this guide to sim unlock it :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2654058
I am downloding files now. just want to make sure
1) do I need to odin back to 4.3 after my phone is unlocke with old MDL system.
2) if I want to install 4.4 roms, what should I do ?
Thank you for any of your suggestion or ideas.

OK. For the MDL phone you should only update your modem unless you want Knox. I see that the files you have chosen are for th I9505. You should never flash international Bootloader or modem or you will brick the phone. So just flash the nb4 modem and flash a KitKat ROM so you can keep your warranty.
Now for the 4.3 phone. All you have to do is root it and flash the nb4 modem or you can flash the full firmware. Either way will work for you since you already have Knox it doesn't really matter.

Correct. You can try the mk2 modem first if you like and then try nb4. You can switch them as you like depending on their performance. Its totally up to you. I would just hate to see you waste your warranty. Not everybody is as lucky as you and I my friend. We both have the stock MDL Bootloader. That's something to brag about now days!!
