Going back to stock with Flashboot fails for weird reasons - Sony Xperia M

Hello,
First post here because I need help. Lately, I've been using my Xperia M (C1095) with CM11 Beta 1 and everything was fine. Like, really fine, no problem whatsoever coming from the ROM. But then, for no apparent reason, my phone refused to reboot today. Well, maybe playing with Xposed was the cause, but that would be weird considering it rebooted just fine after I was done with it. It just kept stuck on the Sony logo, but I could still access CWM. ADB is working fine, Fastboot is working fine, and I can mount everything in CWM. No hardbrick here.
After a couple of attempts to flash CM11 again (I ended up with a Status 7, some symlinks failed all the time), I decided to redo things from scratch by flashing the stock 4.1.2 ftf file for my device with Flashtool. Everything went fine, until... this.

Yeaaaah. So I thought maybe it came from my PC (I'm running Windows 8.1), so I tried to use another one. Then another one. All of them ended up getting the same error. I was surprised, because Flashtool used to work fine with my Xperia M.
I also tried with another ftf file, and the same result kept popping up.
The good thing is, I still have access to CWM, so is there something I can do with it?
EDIT : Little update here, my phone is actually still in the same state as before. I thought we had repaired it... well, nope.
The main thing is, my device can boot into Android (CyanogenMod 11), but it's apparently hard locked in read only mode. If you uninstall an app then reboot it, the app will be back. If you touch anything in /system, for example uninstalling/reinstalling BusyBox, no changes at all after reboot. That also explains why you can't wipe the device through CWM or ADB or even Flashtool. And even if I wanted to brick it, I couldn't.
So yeah. In a way, my phone is Schrödinger's cat. Completly unusable due to its weird behaviour and unexpected reboots, but alsol completly alive.
If anybody is skilled enough to find a solution other than destroying the phone discretly and trying to send it back to Sony, that would be great - although I'm not expecting much.

UPDATE: A dear friend of mine did quite a... lot of things... in adb shell and actually managed to solve the issue. Apparently, it was a conflict between Flashtool's operations, CM11, and Xposed. The latter caused issues with the /system partition, causing all sorts of annoyances. But now, everything's back to normal, so, yeah... guess I'll leave this here. If you happen to have my problem, sorry, I haven't got much of a solution for you.

Update: when I try to restore /system with a Nandroid backup, the phone ends up rebooting. So maybe it comes from there. Also, my eMMC chip is definitely working, so it's not a hardware issue (?).
Update 2: after another attempt, I even got a clear "error while restoring /system!" message, but I think it comes from the backup.
Update 3: something weird happened. After I left the phone idle on the Sony screen for a while, it rebooted. Apparently my backup was restored, but it crashed (?) a few seconds later.
Update 4: Okay, so it *does* take an insane amount of time to CM11 to boot up, which is definitely a bug. Also, whenever I use the physical buttons, the ROM crash. CM issue or not, that is yet to find out. But what is bothering me here is the fact that Flashtool definitely won't let me go back to stock ROM, and I don't think there is another way. I really need help on that part.
Update 5: So apparently I can use "format system" in CWM. So we have that.

Have you tried to wipe with different version of cwm?
Maybe from another custom kernel?
-
Sound like this problem is common between users.
I won't unlock my bootloader!

The thing is, you just can't change CWM or even try to flash another kernel. Changes are not registered by the device. I even tried to HotBoot a kernel via Flashtool, no success. The problem must lie in some sort of read/write permission gone wrong, but how to fix that, I wonder...
Don't worry for your device though, it only happened to me because I messed too much with mine (installed CM11, then Xposed, and I guess the two of them didn't go along that well), but yeah that teached me a good lesson.

if u think bcoz of xposed...then in cwm go and flash zip in sdcard0/0/xposed disabler.zip
xposed running fine on all kitkat...maybe u installed a module that creates the problem..

Yeah, I know exactly which module may be causing the trouble. And I already tried to flash that zip, with absolutely no success because of the read/write bug.

Can I tell you something, even I had same problem,if scroll down q&a section you will get my qstn.
Here is what I did.just change cable, download ftf again if you have another computer, use that. I think problem will go.

Already tried that too, with five different computers and all the cables I could get my hands on. The problem is not that easy to solve, trust me.
Unfortunately I can't change the title of this thread, because it really isn't that much of a Flashtool issue, it's more a Xposed/broken write permissions thing.

Out of curiosity, what module is causing the issues? I'm sure the dev would be really interested on the bug

The only modules I'm using are Lockscreen Wallpapers and Tinted Status Bar. I uninstalled Status Bar before the device became what is it now, but I think it was the cause of all this chaos.
By the way, I retried using Xposed Disabler, no changes at all. A few times I managed to bring up the "you need to wipe your device because of system errors" from CyanogenMod, but everytime I try to go further it ends up crashing. Most of the time it just doesn't do anything.

Exact same problem
I have the exact same problem. Expect this happened to me yesterday. I was using memory swap from the forums for almost a week. I was running FXP 18. Any suggestions on what to do?
I have tried flashing other recoveries. Nothing works. Why? any explanations?

Hi,
Have you found a solution to this?

To anyone facing the problem. Please run this command in your shell and post the output here. Alternatively you can pm, but it contains no personal information. It dumps the CSD register.
Code:
cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:0001/csd
The 4th to last character is the one of interest.

Xperia Play R800i probably bricked

Hello guys!
I have been 'playing' around with my bro's xperia play phone, and it is (what I think) now bricked.
First of all it had android 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 on it & it's a R800i bought in Denmark.
Here's what I did:
1 - Downloaded & installed "sony pc companion".
2 - Plugged in the phone & got the drivers
3 - Downloaded & extracted "DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su"
4- Put the phone in USB debug thing & allow unknown sources
5 - Ran "DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su" from the file "runme.bat"
6 - It got rooted succesfully
7 - Downloaded and installed "CWM_Installer-v5.apk" [LINK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840]
8 - Replaced the recovery.tar file with the one posted in #557 [LINK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840&page=56]
The file is located in system/bin or something.
9 - Installed CWM through the application
10 - Downloaded the rom "XperiaPlay Ice Cream Pureness.ver.2.1" and placed the .zip into a folder (created myself) called ROM.
(DL: http://www.4shared.com/zip/QNPYzoYm/XperiaPlay_Ice_Cream_Purenessv.html
THREAD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822118)
11 - Rebooted into recovery mode through the application (CWM_Installer-v5.apk).
12 - Did this:
1.Factory reset in cwm
2.wipe cache partition
3.wipe dalvik cache
4.Format /system (in mounts and storage)
5.Format /cache
6.Format /Data
7.Install XperiaPlay Ice Cream Pureness.ver.1.zip
8.Reboot now and you are done !

12 - It rebooted and showed the samsung logo, but then just went black with a slight brightness..
Can't do anything with it now.. I tried removing the battery then placing it in again. The only thing that happened was that I could turn it on again, get a quick vibration with the samsung logo. But then the black screen again..
Hope anyone can help me fix this, as I really don't want to return the phone to my bro as bricked & ****.
ALSO: I'm new at this forum (& really anything to do with rooting/flashing/roms), so please if I have done anything wrong inform me! I would gladly post more info if you need it - but I don't know if I'm missing anything.
Your phone is not bricked. Try to find Sony Update Service software somewhere on the internet (Its no longer on the Sony website). You will promped to switch off your phone, hold the back key when you are ready to reinstall the stock software. Just follow the procedures properly and you should be fine.

Try using Sony PC Companion, if that does not work try to flash one of the R800i files from this link using the flash tool, again in the same method as I told you about the Sony Update Service.

For future references, how would you recommend me rooting this mobile? And installing the CWM thingy.
Hope you can link me to a guide or something - I seem only to find outdated/fake guides.

Would you happen to have a custom kernel? Which Sony Ericsson logo is it, the non-moving one or the animated one?
Now, you wouldn't have happened to install a CyanogenMod, Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean rom, would you? I know you don't remember which rom you installed, just trying to spark a memory. Anyway, if you did so, then all you need to do is flash a compatible kernel. You see, if the Sony Ericsson logo you are seeing is the non-moving one, then you have the stock kernel, the one that's incompatible with the aforementioned roms.
If you don't want to get involved with this kernel business, then I've provided a Flashtool guide, so you can at least get your phone to a working, albeit factory reset, state:
First, install Flashtool.
Go here and find what you think your stock firmware was, download it.
Place the .ftf file in your Flashtool/firmwares directory.
Open Flashtool (as administrator if necessary) and click on the lightning bolt in the Flashtool window. Highlight Flashmode and select OK. A new window shall pop-up.
Select your downloaded firmware. I should read "R800i" in the first box and "4.0.2.A.0.XX" (with the "XX" being the number of the version you downloaded) in the second, the contents of the third box varies, so disregard it. There are many options for what to keep/replace during flashing, but I'd recommend leaving them as they are. Select OK. The window will now close and a new window will pop-up shortly after.
This window will detail the proceeding steps: With your turned-off phone (make sure its battery is intact), hold the back key (the leftmost one) while inserting the usb from your computer to your phone, continue holding the key until the window closes, DO NOT REMOVE THE USB.
The Flashtool window will now begin streaming various lines detailing its progress, all you need to look for is the line detailing a successful flash which with then tell you to disconnect your phone, now you can remove the USB.
Go ahead and close the remaining Flashtool window, your phone should now be back to default, factory reset, everything except your phone's bootloader and SIM unlocked statuses, they should be how you left them before.
thanks!

Okay, having not used stock in a long time, I've reverted my rom and kernel! Upon doing so, I noticed little wrong. Though I do remember an annoying prompt when I opened the browser, it'd say "Please insert SIM card" and "downloading settings" would pop-up following it.
Aside from that, I can't recreate the problem you're having. Could you go into more detail?

Well... That's something I have never seen before...
Searched the Q&A and troubleshooting section, and I'd found a thread detailing such an error upon switching firmware. No offence but perhaps I didn't give you enough detail on which firmware to download, and for that I apologise.
Would you happen to know what branding your phone is, and post what it is and which firmware you installed (you can find said information in that third box I told you to ignore in Flashtool)? AT&T, Verizon, unbranded/no SIM/unlocked? I ask this as you may have installed incompatible firmware.
As an example, my phone was unbranded and came with no SIM, the pre-installed installed firmware (and the only one that I find to be fully compatible) was the R800i 4.0.2.A.0.42 UK Generic. In the context of stock roms, I find that it's best not to stray.
Anyway, you've probably already figured out what to do: find the intended firmware and flash it, using the instructions above. I'd recommend gathering some more outside help, changing the thread's title to reflect the current conundrum should be a good starting point.
will do

Searched the Q&A and troubleshooting section, and I'd found a thread detailing such an error upon switching firmware. No offence but perhaps I didn't give you enough detail on which firmware to download, and for that I apologise.

Oh, sorry about that. I'd only ever experienced an APN problem when one of the roms I had installed had a broken settings app.
Anyway, it's nice to see that you've fixed your phone yourself, congrats!

[TUTORIAL] Transfer F180L (20s) to E975 (EUR10h/other) - working signal

Hi,
I was working on "reincarnation" of F180L (20s) to E975 (actually EUR10h) for the last few days and I didn't find one 100% usable topic.
I had either Korean symbols/language and working signal or my language (CZE, ENG) and no signal - so I decided to have "Czech language with working signal".
I got the phone to working state yesterday, after reading about tens of topics and downloading about 7 GB of ROMs/basebands etc. and about 3 days of trying, combining, flashing, drinking a lot ... water only etc.
I put many topics into this one and I will hope it will helps to someone else.
Phone infomation (original):
F180L with 20s FW
HowTo "reincarnate":
1) Get KDZ file you would like to use - Stock Firmwares:
Link: LG Optimus G [E975] Roms/Kernels/Mods & Tools/Root (Daily Update) or Google
2) Get this package:
Link: F180LtoE975 (FlashTool and Root APK)
I RECOMMEND TO INSTALL THESE FILES/DOING FLASH ON THE COMPUTER WITH WIN XP OR IN WIN XP MODE (UNDER WIN7/8) (I had still PROGRAM NOT RESPONDING in WIN7 64bit - even in compatibility mode)
3) Install all files (3) from "F180LtoE975/KDZ_SW/KDZ Flasher.zip" archive - B2CApp, LGUnitedMobileDriver and MSXML and extract dir "FlashTool.1.0.54"
4) Switch off the phone - connect to USB
5) Turn the mobile on in DOWNLOAD MODE - phone is off and connected to USB - you see battery icon - now HOLD BOTH VOLUME BUTTONS (+/-) and POWER BUTTON (it takes about 3 seconds, then release - I tried to time it well many times, so be patient )
6) Look in the DEVICE MANAGER (in XPMode you have to connect the phone through upper bar first) and there should be "LG something" in MODEMS (if you don't see it then there is probably problem with drivers/connection - try to check points 1-5 again)
7) Now you have:
- downloaded your KDZ
- installed drivers and extracted folder "FlashTool"
- connected phone and DOWNLOAD MODE on it's screen
- "LG something" in DEVICE MANAGER-MODEMS
8) WIN7: in "FlashTool" folder set Compatibility Mode for both EXE files to WinXP SP3 first:
WinXP/WinXP Mode: just run as writen below :
- now run "WindowsEnabler" and click on icon in tray - you have to see ON icon in tray
- next run "UpTestEX" and set flash to (check image "01" for sure):
!DON'T BE RECKLESS AND CHECK YOUR SETTINGS BEFORE CLICKING ANY BUTTON!
----- TYPE: 3GQCT
----- PHONE MODE: CS_EMERGENCY
----- SELECT KDZ FILE: <CHOOSE YOUR KDZ>
----- NORMAL WEB UPGRADE TEST
----- UPGRADE START
- CHOOSE: DIFFERENT COUNTRY and language <WHICH ONE YOU WANT>
9) Wait and pray :
- phone should restart itself near the end (about 95%) - !IF YOU ARE FLASHING THE PHONE IN WINDOWS XP MODE THEN YOU HAVE TO CONNECT PHONE AGAIN THROUGH THE UPPER BAR IN WINXPM!
- you should se something like "FLASH COMPLETE/SUCCESSFULL" and "FINISH"
- it took about 25 minutes to me to complete whole process
- I recommend to do a HARD RESET of the phone after flashing
----- HOLD VOLUME DOWN (-) AND HOME KEY - THEN PRESS AND HOLD POWER BUTTON
----- release the buttons when you see LG logo (or try different timing/holding/releasing power button)
----- with POWER BUTTON confirm (twice) the reset
10) After boot your "reincarnated" F180L to E975 comes the part what took me 97% ot time to successfull "reincarnation" - get the signal (now you have iPod
- in the phone enable UNKNOWN SOURCES (in SETTINGS-SECURITY) and USB DEBUGGING (in SETTINGS-DEVELOPER OPTIONS)
- connect the phone to USB - choose MTP and wait for the phone to connect (you should see him in "MY COMPUTER" as a device E975)
- from archive "F180LtoE975" (downloaded at point 2) extact folder "ROOT_OK" and copy "FramaRoot-1.6.1.apk" to SDCARD
- through file manager in the phone run that "FRAMAROOT.APK" file and ROOT your phone - only GANDALF works for me fine
- restart the phone and find and there should be added SUPERUSER in apps (if it's not then install some SuperUser app from Google Play (I am using this one)
- for sure you can install RootChecker
- next install CMW/TWRP- FreeGee works very well
11) Now you should have:
- phone with FW you choose (for example E975 EUR10h - check in SETTINGS-ABOUT PHONE)
- ROOT checked and working
- wrong baseband = no signal
12) Download this file:
Link: F180LtoE975_BB
13) Extract folder "BaseBandF180L_OK" (there was no problem in WIN7 with this procedure) and then:
- connect the phone to USB in MTL MODE and copy "BASEBAND.IMG" to SDCARD ROOT
- check "DEVICE MANAGER-ADB INTERFACE-LG "something"" (it should be OK - only if hou have installed drivers in WinXPMode and you are connecting the phone in WIN7 then you have to install those 3 files from point 2 and 3 above)
- so if you see ADB Interface for LG, you copied the IMG file to SDCARD and your phones ROOT is OK then ...
- just run "FLASH_BASEBAND.BAT" and wait for restart
- now you should be asked for PIN (if you use it ) and you should get a signal
Phone infomation (reincarnated):
E945 with EUR10h/<YOUR CHOICE> FW with F180L baseband + OK SIGNAL + ROOT + CWM/TWRP
Hope it is works ... thanks to all who made topics which I read a which helped me a lot.
Thanks for even a small donation ... if there will be any ... there will be more experiments.
Sorry for your trouble and long thread, but it took 10 mins max to do it. Don't know what guides you all are reading all over the internet.
Instead of all this, simplest is
1. Flash kdz 10x less than 1GB
2. wipe the phone
3. Root the phone
4. Use freegee to unlock and get cwm/twrp
5. Flash modem for f180
All this in 10 mins

I'm facing the same problem too. My phone went dead few days ago. Suspected on the battery problem. My wife accidently drop my phone at 1mtr height and suddenly my phone went dead.
At first i suspect softbrick. So i try to flash f180l kdz but failed due to error. After reading in thread i notice dat u cannot flash any kdz more than 1gb. So i downloaded hongkong kdz and succesfully flash my phone. But my phone still cannot switch on.
So wat i do is, i open the case and remove battery and put it back. After dat magically i can open it but no signal. So i root and then freegee and afterwards flash f180l modem.
Finally its working like charm now.

Its true as you wrote...
It looks easy and I found these steps too but:
- many KDZ links didnt work
- I wasnt sure to use freegee (and didnt try, cause there is chance of hard brick) - only CWM/TWRP without freegee and that "killed phone"
- I downloaded about 9 basebands/modems for F180 and only one has worked
- thats why I wrote it so detailed - and with own links and in the one topic
If anyone could please verify edge usability on his/her rom for f180, there seems to be a special kdz / baseband which unlocks international edge on korean(f180) device. I am in dare need of edge since my gprs network signal die out, where as edge signal prevails on my other device using same sim. Or if theres some other way to unlock edge i would be thankful

You need to unlock bootloader for recovery.
There is a very good post here about how to extract your modem iv done that to use the latest if you don't want to use Houston's.
You see everything you need already in here, no need to go out and search and get into trouble.

it seemed hardbricking is non existent anymore when flashing roms.
my phone is now an LS970 after flashing the miui rom..which is great.

Just flashing modem doesn't do anything to imei. It's the other partitions that do those things.

Never happened to me on my several phone's in 4 5 years.
It always the issue when the baseband.img is accompanied by few other files. Or if you flashed the baseband on wrong partition.

Problem flashing Indian KDZ image
Hi has any one been able to download and flash the Indian KDZ file E97510E_00.KDZ
which is provided here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320817
I have downloaded the file 5-6 times but i am getting error while the Flasher unpacks the file.
I have been able to flash European KDZ on my Phone but not the indian one.
Anyone faced similar problem or has any solution would be very helpful.
Thanks for this detailed guide! I am a n00b to Android and found it perfect. Agree with OP that many links/files in other posts are dead and it's confusing. Good to have it all in one place. Thanks :good:

2 noobies questions
1) if I have cyanogen, is there anything I have to do before installing this stock version?
2) after converting the phone, can I use roms for lg e975 for this phone?

Strange OPPO Find7 Soft Brick

Hey guys.
I'm new to this forum... and am posting this as I no longer know what to do, and need some guidance.
First I'll say that I've looked ALL OVER this forum and others, but couldn't solve my problem.
...So I subscribed in the hopes that someone will be able to more properly guide me.
------------------------------------------
So, first thing's fisrt - the story from the beginning:::
My device is an OPPO Find7 (QHD Version)
I've been using Cyanogenmod 11 for many months and without any problems.
Few days ago I installed the first nightly update of CM12 - and phone went into boot loop.
I had to restore to the ColorOS backup that was saved on my phone... Reinstalled CM11 and all is good.
Later I again updated to CM12 - and again was forced to revert back to Backup and then to CM11 due to bugs (phone wouldn't wake up after being locked, etc)
Anyway, There were three nightly build of CM12 to that point, and the last one was working in a relatively stable manner,
exept two bugs.
1. Contact names didn't appear when mamkiing to receiving a call - even though they were saved on the phone.
But this bug can be overlooked.
2. This one was more cirtical - - For some reason the phone said that I have no more free
space (even though I had 20+GB), thus preventing me from installing or updating
anything.
I figured that, perhaps, becuase of all the re-installs that I've done - my system memory got clogged.
So I decided, with more haste than thought, to perform a full wipe...SDcard and all, which consequently also removed
my ColorOS backup and everything, basically.
-----------------------------------------
The currrent outcome of what I did:::
Phone has no OS installed on it, and PC doesn't llow my to put files in there.
I can currently boot in three different states:
1. Normal boot with power button - - - OPPO logo appears - followed by a black
screen PC recognizes that I've connected a device, tries to install MTP Device and
evetually fails.
2. Power Button + Vol Up - - - Fastboot screen.
3. Power button+Vol-Down - - - Boots into the Gummified Team Win Recovery 2.7.1.0
In here, several things need to be mentioned.
- In the "Mount" section, I can choose which Partitions to mount to unmount, but
don't actually have the "Mount" button inside... So I can't mount.
- ADB Sideload doesn't work. When activating - it says "Starting ADB Sideload
Feature and just goes on forever, until I cancel it - and it says that it failed.
--------------------------------------------------
What I tried doing:::
Tried to use the Recovery Installer for OPPO, which is the exe that is available on the internet, that comes with drivers and all - and open command line with various options.
Tried installing the stock Color OS recovery, but when booting into it I still get the teamwin recovery
I am unsure how to proceed.
Is there a way to fix my phone?
I have my CM11 working version and gapps ready - just need to place it in the phone somehow.
Any help?

Do you have an OTG Usb drive. If so, you can use it with Nameless TWRP. Copy the Installation files into the USB drive and plug the usb drive into the phone. Now boot into Nameless recovery. It will show USBOTG. You can install the CM11 from USBOTG.
Flash Nameless recovery using Fastboot.
Download Nameless Recovery from HERE.

This link explains how to restore our find 7 to factory settings:
oppoforums.com/threads/guida-riportare-il-find-7-7a-nello-stato-dacquisto-con-il-firmware-sahara.24561
if phone doesn't start try it i've use it several times and it works fine
I might just be reposting what dracula6mt was talking about, but there's an English post with full brick recovery here: http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/guide-how-to-recover-your-bricked-find-7-7a.23067/. I've used it before and it works perfectly. Just make sure you follow it exactly as written!
Bug
same bug report
for retrive your data just open the gummy twrp recovery, go on mount --> sd card and internal memory... in this way when you connect the phone to pc you will be able to see what's inside and try to rescue your data. in the same way you can send files to it.
I suggest you to get back your files, reboot the phone in fastboot mode (hold power and volume +) and just flash a recovery, it depends about what you want to install:
twrp for custom roms https://dl.twrp.me/find7/
colorOS stock recovery http://community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=17397&extra=
you have to install fastboot on your pc and do from a command prompt:
fastboot devices
this will check if your phone is connected
fastboot flash recovery nameoftherecoveryfile.img
that will flash the recovery, only check the name of the .img file you want to install
be carreful, twrp has only a version for both find7s (QHD) and find7a while colorOS recovery 1.0 is different, unified for both models in 1.2 if i remember right...
after that you just have to put on your external storage the rom you want to use, wipe all except the external sd card, and flash...

Taken from my article ( for those who can read ) :
Please Stop asking for password without reading the article completely till the end, THIS TOOL WONT WORK UNLESS YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY SERVICE ROM ! Try sharing your phone model first and also try to share the service ( QPST ) Rom if you have it so more people can use it, THANK YOU.

Hahaha,if so why, don't you post a link here, on mega or something, instead of all this " mail me" crap??? That would be a honest thing too do, instead....
And no, it's not common too sort in who and which, you want to help out, at least not here on XDA, we help every body, with no exceptions.
I say again, give us this file freely or I report you too forum admins.
My x9076 is bricked because of me making a lvm error, but I'd rather have it semi Working, with messed up partitions, like now, than pay our beg some guy like you for something that not working any way.
Last chance give this freely or get locked out from xda
EDIT: believe me, this turk psyko, has NOTHING not known already, regarding unbricking devices, there´s hundreds of posts here and on oppo forum about people having storage issues etc, not one ever mentioned anything about any other tools than those oppo them selves gave us, there is NO other working ways not known as this cracy dude claims, he´s just running a scam and wants 20$ for nothing - OS_MAN is a fraud dude all over.
EDIT 2: Silence from sir os_man tells the truth....

When asking for help in a free space and for free, sometimes some manners can really make a huge difference. I think you fail to understand that even though you have a problem and someone might have a solution, that someone has no obligation whatsoever to share their time and the fruit of their research with you, especially so when threatened.
Hmm, considering the files and how-to's for unbricking a Find7 are freely available from Oppo forums (and here, I believe), I'm pretty suspicious of anyone doing ANYTHING other than giving them away freely. The files I downloaded and have used, a few times now, were free and had no passwords on zip/rar archives.
As for 'fruits of research', this guy wasn't the guy who put up the how-to's or did the initial research on it so, in my books, he doesn't get the credit, be it kudos OR cash money.
Some folks seem to literally want something for nothing. No harm in asking for donations, sure, but don't be at all surprised if I tell you to go f*** yourself. That's not how this game works, we all stand on each other's shoulders.

Advice needed - dead Z5 premium Dual E6883

Hi
So I woke up this morning early for some reason and saw that my charging phone was off (no dimmed clock) and the notification light was a constant red.
Obviously I tried several reboots and safe boots but no joy. Installed the latest Xperia companion on my laptop but when I connect the phone its not recognised, unless I try the option to repair then the notification light flashes between red and green before staying green and then a popup message appears on Xperia companion stating that the phone is locked with instructions on how to unlock it (if it were working), etc. After about thirty seconds or so it reverts back to the constant red light so I assume that the connection to the software times out.
I have tried a long 6/8 hour charge but that hasn't helped (something to try that I read somewhere).
The only constant is when I power up the phone the notification light flashes slowly five times red, then the red light stays on constantly until I hard reset again.
I have not been able to find out anywhere what this five slow blink error notification means so was hoping someone could tell me.
The only thing that had happened before this event was that for the past few weeks every now and then it would reboot itself several times randomly so I deleted apps to free up internal space.
Any factual pointers would be very helpful.
Many thanks
Sounds like it is soft bricked. I assume that you are totally stock (not rooted, no recovery). If this is true, I think the easiest thing to do is to 1) download Flashtool; 2) through Xperifirm (integrated into latest version of Flashtool), download a factory .ftf file for your unit (single sim vs dual sim); 3) ensure all needed drivers are installed on your computer; and 4) flash the new factory ROM.
Further, to be better prepared if this should ever happen again, download the flash the rooted .ftf file from the most popular post in this section ([FTF][Android 7.1.1][ROOT][R/W][32.4.A.1.54] E68xx + Patched Kernels (Google Drive). Then you'll be rooted and have a TWRP recovery that can be used to much more easily cope with bricked situations. Good luck!

Many thanks for your reply wicozani! It's very much appreciated! I actually thought it was something along the lines that you mentioned as I had a feeling that the issue occurred because an app updated and the internal memory filled up to the pint where the phone can no longer operate. (I have too many apps installed).
You are correct in assuming that my phone is completely stock as I've never bothered with any modifying, etc.
Funnily enough, during my research the most useful advice I've seen was a YouTube explanation/guide and they used Xperifirm so I've had a look at the website to familiarise myself.
One question, what drivers should be be looking for, where would I install them on my pc and at what point would they be used in the flashing process - I've not seen this mentioned at all anywhere before?
And thanks for the tip for future proofing - I've already had a look at that post to try to make sense of it.
Many thanks.

I used that link to root my Z5P for the first time last year. One must follow the directions exactly. Then, you'll be on a base ROM that you can easily flash Joel's LOS 14.1 ROM over the top. It is awesome to have my 5-year phone now featuring an Android Security Patch Level of April 5, 2020! Both Xposed Installer and Substratum are working like a charm. If you want to install Magisk, be sure to uncheck "zip-verified file" (or something like that), and it will install fine. I had several instances of failing to install Magisk until i wised up and unchecked the zip-verified signature box. Good luck!
