Took my phone for a replacement and the manager mentioned that an update is coming next week. Wait and see I guess.

One is needed. There have been 2 updates to the international version already.
It's to fix the wifi calling bug. I heard the same thing from a tmo rep as well. Apparently that's all it fixes. But you never know.
Will see what gets fixed and what gets broken.

So I guess those who rooted, and tripped the Knox flag to make the phone custom will have to ODIN it instead of OTA. Stupid rules.

I don't think the Knox flag has anything to do with the OTAs. In the de la vega root method thread, they already confirmed that you can't OTA even when the knox is at 0x0. However, if you install xposed framework and module to make it say original then the phone will actually search for OTA. I'm thinking it might be the SU app, the phone scans for SU before it looks for updates but that's just my guess for now.

Can you share your exact setup? I installed both Xposed and Wanam, set status to remove custom, and my status of "custom" went away, but when I check for update I still get the "Your device has been modified, and cannot receive updates." message. I am running a custom recovery (CWM), and do have SU installed. Other than that, and being rooted, my phone is stock as it came from the store.

+1. Even with wanam it still says "Modified". I think it's something I did though, because it worked when I first rooted and installed wanam. Maybe I deleted an app in system/app?

So do I, with Wanam and Isis root bypass installed, but I'm showing the modified device message. Also just realized that since it's stock, Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper won't work.

Does it trip Knox?
Strange. I have I9192DDU1BML1. Kingo method and acro68 method of rooting did not trip my knox flag. I installed CWM recovery. I also flashed custom kernels. Silvumik and c0bain kernels. It is again 0x0. I'm happy of course. But how did it happen. Any clues.

AFAIK Kingo's get their rooting method from Saferoot, which does not trip knox at all. However flashing over Kernel suppose to trip the knox. Well, should just consider lucky and be happy
Omce you trip the l knox from flashing over your kernel is there anyway to fix that because I cannot flash anything. I get a verizon warning about unauthorized software and that I need to bring the phone in

I just recently picked up a T-Mobile unlocked Note 3. It's still stock on 4.3 and I'm trying to find out what is the best way to root without tripping the KNOX counter.
Also, will flashing any recovery trigger the KNOX counter?
Basically, what will and won't trigger it.
Thanks in advance.

All I could find is
"If you are running MJ4, MJ7, MK1, MK2 or higher you can still root, but you will trip KNOX!"
But it also doesn't say that it won't trip Knox on others. It also doesn't state if there's a way to flash a recovery or rom without tripping Knox.

You can root MI7 with RDLV and not trip Knox. Custom recoveries WILL trip Knox. Custom kernels WILL trip Knox. Custom roms WILL trip Knox unless you use safestrap.

It shouldn't, but no guarantee obviously. Just root with RDLV and install safestrap. It uses stock kernel and injects itself between the boot loader and the stock ROM.

I believe you can only use TW based Roms, since they use the stock kernel. Search for the safestrap thread for more about it. Good luck!

Oh, before I forget.. Don't ota to 4.4.2 if you want to keep root. If you do, there are no known root methods that won't trip Knox as of yet.

Edit: so even though the thread says it's specifically for the SM-N9005 it's compatible with the T-Mobile SM-N900T? Just don't want to brick my phone with the wrong thing lol

Been trying to figure out but mixed messages.
I know if I upgrade my at&t n3 phone to kk, I am screwed. So I rooted and froze the at&t upgrade till they fix things. Kk downloaded to my 2014 tablet but I keep saying no to the upgrade.
If I let it upgrade will it lock the bootloader or prevent later rooting?
Thanks.

I rooted my SM-P600 after upgrading to KK through kies, I used the custom recovery flash method without any problems.

If you root, you will trip Knox no matter how it's done. No getting around it.
[ How do you plan on getting KK without upgrading? ]
Now I'm confused.
Wait... Is you N10 LTE or WIfi Only? If you accept the OTA on the N10, YOU WILL NOT TRIP KNOX. If you ROOT YOU WILL TRIP KNOX.
You can have the upgrade to KK without rooting. Just Keis or OTA.
I was meaning rooting then a 3rd party ROM or upgrading Ota, root.
