Are custom roms compatible with the I257m? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Being Canadian not getting the international phone can any one tell me if the international Roms will work with the Canadian s4 mini? I know it's very similar to the us model but that one has a locked
Bootloader if I am not mistaken.and the Canadian model is not locked.
I know the 6.3 mega has compatibility between Canadian and international models, (and very similar hardware to the s4mini) so I was hoping if someone had tried the s4mini international Roms on their I257m and had any luck.

gt i9000m Vibrant in usa

looking at getting a gt i9000m vibrant (not captivate) from canada unlocked to use in the usa on at&t.. now that unlocked ones are avail. on ebay.
can someone tell me do i need to flash a special modem to continue to get 850mhz 3g (that is why i am buying to replace stock euro i9000)...
or can i just flash the normal jm5 and jm6 with the jm3 included modem?
thanks
No any international fw will work.
All fw has all bands if the hardware is there it simply enables it.
Hope this information helps
thanks i thought so since on the f/w site there were no specific f/w's for this model.. as there are for captivate.. but wanted to make sure.

Please stop lumping locked and unlocked bootloader phones together

There are several device forums that contain phone models from various carriers where some have locked bootloaders and others dont, such as the SGH-I337 AT&T Samsung S4 forum, is also the home of the SGH-I337M Canadian S4 from bell, rogers, virgin, fido, telus.
The AT&T phone is bootloader locked, there is no way to unlock, only the loki hack.
The Canadian M version is not bootloader locked.
Not only are they in the same device forum but there is no sub-forum to differentiate either.
Many larger rom developers like the CM team have said in the past that they will not officially support locked bootloader devices, and as such, usually look right past the canadian S4, as it is in the same forum as the locked AT&T model. The S4 is not the only device this has been done to.
I`m not suggesting that it get its own forum, but it would be better placed with the T-Mobile S4 SGH-M919, another unlocked s4 device forum. the only difference is in the modem which isnt flashed or included in any roms for samsung S4s, and kernel. The Canadian S4 could use any t-mobile rom if there were some kernel development happening. this is not happening at the usual level in the AT&T forums because the devs are making kernels for loki hack, or not at all.
Lumping locked and unlocked bootloader devices into the same forum hinders development, by confusing models.
Some food for thought

[Q] Can i add Canadian stock rom in international N7100 possibly asian network ?

Hello I have this note 2 N7100 international model. Is it possible can i put Note 2 stock rom for any Canadian network like rogers, bell or telus canada ? i could be some asian network but i am not sure about the network .

Do these ROMs work on the T-Mobile Variant?

May be a dumb question but since I see a different section for the T-Mobile variant, aren't they both the same unlocked version? So all ROMs from this section should work on the T-Mobile version right?
Anyone with T-Mobile on here flashing ROMs?
Most roms should be work t-mobile.I think only cdma phones will have issues.Im on at&t m8 and on t-mobile network.

S10+ Korean version 975N much cheaper, any thoughts?

Hi guys,
Here is my dilemma: I live in Vietnam and I can get the Korean S10+ 512GB for about $770 (vs. $990 for the international version).
The phone is SKT branded, but I guess there will be a way to flash the unbranded Korea firmware. Can anyone confirm it's possible?
Also, the Korean version can only take 1 SIM but if it is like the previous Galaxy S, the hardware should be there, it's purely a firmware limitation. How hard is it to install the international version firmware (F/DS) on the Korean version? If possible, will I still get OTA? Will I need to unlock the bootloader?
Thanks for your help!

I don't know that you could install the international firmware on the Korean device. I know the Canadian models (W) can flash the US (U/U1) versions. Id just get some confirmation before trying it as to not brick the device.
