Well if you have a rooted phone, you could install clean master FREE. and there under the section pre-installed apps you have the whole apps that are installed. And near them it advises you to keep them or not... so most of the time you can uninstall apps that you don't use, like email and stuff.. cuz i believe you use gmail...
you scroll through the list and see which you use and which you don't

Since you can't sort apps with the stock sense launcher, I'm wondering for a list of which apps are absolute safe to uninstall (Stocks, More info, Twitter, Setup etc.).
This is cause I'm of sick of having to scroll through a long list of useless things to find what I want.
I tried uninstalling these apps but ran into FC issues.
I tried searching the forum for something similar and found nothing, does noone else find this anoying?
Thanks all!

the truth is that i do not manage to understand for what you look...
If that i know that we can´t classify the app of the launcher by files thing that is soo troublesome ...
Then.. Do you want a list of the apk that come for default in an official ruu?
Which of these apps can I safely remove because I don't want them and are only cluttering my app drawer.
The issue is that some of them are apperently needed and cause "Force Close" issue when removed.
Thanks

there are things.. like peep.apk that you can´t uninstall from the aplications admin. of android because are original apk´s of official ruu,, but you can try to uninstall using "rom-cleaner"
another think you can´t uninstall only one think of google maps.apk.. or uninstall completly or you are going to have problems later if you uninstall one by one...
there´s no problem if you uninstall youtube.apk, LOL

I've got root, so I can uninstall everything directly from phone.
I'm looking for something more like a list of things possible to uninstall without issues (for example uninstalling all this causes the market to not work properly and i've heard that uninstalling twitter causes a FC issue).
Yes, I know that I can uninstall Youtube , I just tried to clarify what I want
Where is x system app?
If you are running the stock ROM that comes with the phone (rooted or not), then the disappearance of system apps is a bug with the stock firmware that comes with this phone.
Why is it gone?
Sometimes when you remove apps from the "menu/applications/manage applications" menu in settings, a plethora of system apps are deleted. You probably just noticed the one that caused you to make a thread about it. If you go back into the manage applications menu, you will probably see that many other systems apps are greyed out, including calculator, google services framework, and others. It is unknown why this happens when removing apps from that menu, it is just an annoying bug.
How do I fix it?
Well, there are two solutions. One, very simple, is a factory reset, and everything will be fixed. However, you will lose all your apps and data if you aren't rooted. The other solution, the way I chose to go after this happened to me 3 times, is to root and load any other custom ROM, I chose Incredible 2 HD.
I hope this thread helps answer people's questions. I have been seeing a lot of posts on this lately and wanted to provide a complete answer for people all in one place.
Your title says, this is a FAQ, so WHY? start a thread in the general forum??

Anyway to make it faster? Kernels don't seem to work for me :/ Any help would be great.
Root it and uninstall all the SE stuff you don't use.
A good way to know what to uninstall is to take a look at the "running apps", cached or uncached. (This is because you don't want it caching apps you never use!)
Congrats on flashing the rom. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549042, I posted them a while ago.

You get all or Nothing.
Use Titanium backup or another app for something like this.

Haha .. yeah that is last thing i know... ...
I will try to find it out.. or will mail google for answers.. or change.. :cyclops::laugh:
I know a solution but not sure whether any better alternative exists. Let me explain what I do after flashing a ROM.
1. Select Backup & Restore option during initial setup so that syncing begins from google server.
2. As soon as we arrive at the Home screen we find that the Play Store has started downloading apps. (Now we want this process to be selective isn't it!! as we already have many apps in our backup and we don't want to waste our precious band width!!
3. Open play store and go to my apps.
4. In this page almost all the apps which are yet to be downloaded or downloading will be listed.
5. Click Stop ALL.
6. Now Select the app which you don't want to download and by clicking on settings button/three dots button untick Auto-update. (See the screenshot)
7. Repeat the process.
8. Once you are done. Click on Update all and choose Skip for those Apps.
I have the VM HTC Desire 816. I recently learned how to root and successfully did it. I used Titanium Backup to start uninstalling the apps that were forced to me. However as I start un-installing apps, the phone would automatically restart and auto-install the apps I removed. So why? I had a feeling apps like Mobile ID or My Account checked my phone's apps and would do the whole auto thing to get my phone back to 'normal' but even removing those apps is a fruitless attempt.
Edit: I would like thread removed. I just flashed another ROM and would not care to hear the solution to my initial problem.
Ok but I'd like to know how to debloat my stock Rom. If anybody has clues to this.
Reason is that I updated my rom to lollipop, and my memory is full. I have something like 40 apps installed and no room left to update the last apps.
Can someone help ?
I'd like to know how to do this as well. With some of the new stuff they added like kid mode, I don't know if it's just as easy as uninstalling the apps like usual.
Sent from my HTC Desire 816 using XDA Free mobile app
Up !
Any info about this, or a list of safely removable apps ?
