[Q] (Q)UDP Flooding, packet sending, etc - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello,
I'm using anflood and net swiss tools to spam udp packets to my network, but they never actually reach the network. I do not see them in the logs of my router, nor the "warnings" that it gives when under attack. I am using CM 11 on a sgh i747m (canadian) and im wondering if its a firmware/hardware issue. Because it runs just fine on my lg o3d (older model) which is strange. because i thought it was the router security but turns out the phone is not sending any packets whatsoever.
i found a similar thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=721066 but it was never answered

VPN Tunnel though DD-WRT Router

Has anyone successfully setup a VPN between their E4GT and their DD-WRT Router? Previously my HTC Hero worked flawlessly with CM6 ROM, however I cannot get my stock E4GT phone to connect.
I had it working with my Evo & Cm7 but I didnt try it yet with my epic (I know that doesnt help)
anyone else try? I havent be successful yet with my setup. Its complaining about firewall issues - I'm wondering if it is on the sprint side?
This morning i decided to call sprint up on this issue after reading this post (http://androidforums.com/droid-support-troubleshooting/165907-vpn-issue.html#post1865066) about Verizon. Well i was on the phone for over 1 hour and asked to talk to a manager. Thats when the phone all the sudden was disconnected - amazing.
In any case, i wish others on here would try to connect their phone to a VPN. It appears that it is something on Sprints side that is restricting the connection. The lady on the phone told me to contact the manufacturer of the phone. I told her that there is nothing the manufacturer can do about network issues.
I know that this is a sprint issue, but help from others to confirm this would sure help. If anyone has a VPN they can test this with I would appreciated it.
I assume you've disabled Sprint's proxies already right? I wrote a guide on this in the General forum.
I believe I tried without the proxies and had the same issues. This is where you use the msl and set the ips to all zeros as well as the ports?

Tested out the vpn by tethering my phone to a friends Verizon phone over wifi and I was able to connect. Sprint must be blocking vpn ports.

Are you sure you disabled Sprint proxies? This is a known issue caused by Sprint proxies, as I suggested above, and in your response you only state you believed you had done so.

Are you referring to the Custom PRL? I would really like to know cause I want to do VPN and would try anything out.
Yes i have tried to removed the proxies with this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283229). The same results show up, complaining about a firewall issue. I know this has something to do with either the phone or the network blocking this connection.
Has anybody solved this issue. I am trying to connect using pptp and am getting the same error complaining about firewall. I used to have an EVO 4G and was able to connect before.
any luck with the EPIC? Considering this as well... Thx!

[Q] Tethering: Can Sprint detect tethering to an android tablet?

Please, be gentle, since this is my first thread ever.
I was reading up on this information at AndroidPolice.com regarding Sprint blocking tethering apps from the Market.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...locking-tethering-apps-in-the-android-market/
In Art Russ's G+, some people were commenting about the ability of Sprint reading NAT Headers to find out whether you're tethering or not
https://plus.google.com/111991876596496628445/posts
I'm not actively using tethering, in fact I haven't even rooted the E4GT yet, but I did have my former Evo3D rooted to tether to my Asus Transformer.
Now my wife has CM7 on her HP Touchpad, and I still have my Asus Transformer. I'd like to be able to tether to them if we're on a trip somewhere away from the house, but I don't like having "big brother" knowing that I'm doing so.
Summarizing, can they detect tethering, more specifically, to Android (Honeycomb/2.3 version CM7 uses on Touchpad) tablets? figured maybe if the machine tethered was running android it would end up being the same or similar "header" (or whatever is called/checked) and wouldn't matter, but I could be way far off.
Please, let me know. Also, please, no bashing; in case this was answered previously. I took the time to search but didn't find this specific case commented after the "iPhone effect". If you find this has been answered elsewhere, please provide me with a link to that discussion so I can read up on it.
Thank you, and best regards.
I don't know about Sprint (I haven't heard of any instances myself) but AT&T has been sending notices to people about automatically changing their accounts to a more expensive tethering plan for awhile now. With AT&T it doesn't seem to matter what you tether to, they catch you. There's posts in either the Atrix forums or Inspire forums on Xda about it, I forget which.
Edit: The thread is in the Atrix general forum, there's over 400 posts.

i tether to my laptop and asus transformer like crazy and have never had any probs with sprint as of yet. the sprint techs and employees at my local store all have rooted phones with wifi tether as well so they prob would be first to stop when they know that sprint is gonna start cracking down.
can you explain how

Just wondering if you can explain how your tethering please? Everything I've tried tells me its not available with my carrier which is sprint.
I don't need this feature to often, but i do need it.

Download Foxfi to your phone, its off the market so do a Google search for it and then get PDAnet Tablet app for your tablet or PDAnet for your desktop or laptop. They all work flawlessly for tethering...
Ive been running custom roms on my E4GT that come with a hacked version of Sprints Hotspot and i tether my tablet,laptop,etc...and ive been doing it for about 7 months or so and ive never had any problems or issues from Sprint. I also do the same thing with my Evo 4G thats runnin MikG 3.11 rom, that also has Sprints Hotspot hacked for free use. However i have heard of a few ppl recieving letters from sprint bcuz they were using a hacked Sprint hotspot,or wifi tether app,for free, but they only recieved those letters bcuz they were using around 40GB,or more, data a month. One excuse to use would be that u stream Netflix to ur LCD/LED tv via ur devices micro hdmi output to the hdmi input on ur tv. just my 2 cents.

Can sprint detect tethering? Almost certainly yes, by any number of ways - NAT info, web browser user agent string, types of traffic.
Are they actively seeking out users tethering at the current time? Not that we know of.
I've been (very infrequently) tethering on Sprint since Windows Mobile 6.x, and had no trouble. Think of it like your neighbor's open WiFi - using it sparingly and infrequently, and no one will notice or mind. But if you start torrenting/downloading like crazy, eventually someone's going to smack you. (all of us?)

There are apps that mask that type of information at the present moment. This question is asked every couple of months. I suggest you google search and look up the hundreds of threads about this and see if anyone has gotten themselves in any trouble. Remember the ones who tether and not like the user above said not the ones who use torrents...
If you do find 1 just 1 please post back here I would like to meet them....

PPTP vpn won't connect

I can't seem to connect to my work's pptp vpn with my E4GT. It says "Connecting..." then "Unsuccessful".
If it matters, I'm on Calkulin's_E4GT_2_ROM_v1.2.
Using my PC I can connect to it, just not from my phone. Any suggestions?

Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23936182&postcount=6
I've never had pptp problems with android. l2tp seems to have only been fixed recently for me with gb roms (could be my vpn servers were at fault.)
I'm having the same exact issue OP. Just signed up for a VPN service, I'm able to config my Windows machine to use the connection just fine.. On my phone I'm getting "Connecting..." then "Unsuccessful" when I try to connect. I'm also running Caulk's ROM.. same version.
I've had no luck connecting to my ddwrt over pptp since getting this phone. My crappy HTC hero used to work but not this phone. From what I could find online it has to due with the dynamic IP that sprint is given my epic. I've read that if you get a static IP from sprint that it somehow doesn't have a firewall blocking these connections, however it is not free. I have not tried this yet.

I have a lg optimus one and depending on my rom depends on if my pptp vpn connects. I was going nuts trying to troubleshoot it and then i set it up on my computer to test there and was able to connect without an issue.
If i use CM 9.2.2 (ics rom) i can connect without a problem.
if i use a custom rom based on 9.2 the vpn does not connect. whats funny is they are both ICS rom's.

[Q] [noob] Unlocked LS970 Bluetooth tethering

So I have done days worth of searching and have not found a fix for what I am looking to for.
I have unlocked my LGOG LS970 in hops I would be able to use the blutooth tethering as Sprint has it on lock down. I was not to my surprise. My old Evo never had an issue after I rooted it. I have downloaded many many apps that say they enable the tether with no luck. I am trying to share my internet connection with my Parrot Asteroid. The only apps I have found require you to download the adjacent program to the device as well as the phone, so in this case I am not able to do that.
Is there a ROM or program that will allow me to share my internet connection with my deck via Bluetooth?
I tried the hotspot apps to for WiFi and it would not work either.
Thank you for any help.
I haven't had any problems with mine. What rom are you using? Are you rooted? Do you have experience with android?
And just do you know, give us a bit of information about your phone, but don't bloat the thread. Give us info, read through it, trim it up, post.

So I have an LG LS970 on Sprint.
I used this method to unlock and root the phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050582
I am running the factory ROM, and have not upgraded to another as of yet, perhaps that is my issue. My Blue tooth tether worked for one day after I first rooted and then stopped. From reading around is that Sprint is a little tricky and you have to use a proxy to bounce your IP off of to get away from the extra charges. I can use bluetooth but not for data sharing.
I am now using a proxy server but still no luck on the tether.
I have some experience with Android but from a user standpoint. The only other phone I rooted was my Evo a few years ago and CyanogenMod made that effortless..
I hope this helps
Thank you!

[Q] Cyanogenmod and Tethering

Has anyone been able to get the 'WiFi tether for Root Users' or TrevE Mod working in Cyanogenmod 10.1.2 or any AOSP ROM on the SGH-T999? I ask because I haven't. I reached my 500mb cap for this billing cycle and want to maybe prevent that from happening in the future, or at least get it working.

What you are attempting to do is not possible? They should be able to measure the amount of data that goes through your phone, because it can be done on their end, so there would be nothing for you to exploit. My understanding of the tethering hacks were that they allowed you to tether if you didn't have the tethering provision on your account (whether you did not pay for it, or are unlimited, and they don't give you the option). I've seen the hacks that claim to be able to bypass the data caps, but unsure why it would be implemented in such a way that anyone could exploit it.

Well of course they can watch my data use, but whether or not I'm tethering with that data is another thing. I was able to use about a gig and a half last billing cycle on their unlimited plan, by just using TrevE mod (no vpn app) on Touchwiz based roms and only about 300mb showed in the tmo my account app.
I was under the impression from what I've read that apps like TrevE mod can give you more access untell they put the kibosh on you, and if you go though a VPN you can use it all you want cause all of the network traffic is going though the VPN app not Windows and Chrome etc. which they look for.
I'm mainly wondering if that app 'WiFi Tether For Root Users/TrevE mod' has worked at all in AOSP, even 4.1.x.
I think T-Mobile has improved their detection and now know when you're using those apps or mods. Lately everyone seems to be reporting that they do not work.
As to whether or not you could use em in cm, I doubt it. If you didn't see it say so in the op and it wasn't reported working by others posting in the thread, it's safe to say it doesn't.
Did you search and read through the thread?

I haven't seen tethering or hotspot mentioned at all in any T999 AOSP op i've looked at which is discouraging. For CM10.1 people seem to only talk about the the included tether.
As for 'WiFi Tether for Root Users' its so widely used any thread I look at is device specific most of the time, and/or for that devices stock rom. But there are so many settings in there though I thought maybe someone got it working.
If they did they would have posted it in the mods thread if anywhere. But if it can't be done you could almost certainly find that info in the same thread.

I am running CM10, rooted on a SGH-T999. Following the forums I downloaded Hotspot Shield as the post stated it was the only shield (VPN or otherwise) that would work with TreveE-Mod Wifi-Tether. Sadly, I found that using Hotspot Shield really slowed down my connection to a crawl and also caused problems using tether to stream Netflix, Hulu+. etc. I did find another VPN app that worked (Hideninja VPN) but it also slowed me down tremendously and caused issues with nationwide streaming copyright protections on Netflix, etc. as well. I do pay the $30 for T-Mob's unlimited albeit shackled internet package.
I have a newer Dell laptop running WIN8 and have not tested this on any other version of Windows but:
My SGH-T999, CM10 and TreveE-Mod all work together flawlessly to give me a T-Mob upsell to WiFi hotspot message in my browser whether I change the User Agent or not. :crying::crying::crying:
Then I installed UltraSurf VPN on my laptop and my tethered speeds are AWESOME!! WITHOUT having to change my User Agent settings.
No need for Hotspot Shield or HideNinja.... no VPN setup on my phone, just UltraSurf on my puter and the tortoise has turned into a hare!
