[Q] Dual Boot Kindle OS / Android

Hello,
Long time lurker here as I first found this forum when I rooted my HP Touchpad to run Android. I have a Kindle Fire 1st Gen and would like dual boot. Here is the order I would like:
1. Normal Boot = Kindle Stock OS
2. Alt Boot = Android 4.2.2
I understand that dual boot is possible and that currently the normal boot currently boots into the Android OS by default. I read here that this order can be changed by modifying the source code of FireFireFire however I am unsure how to do this. I am comfortable using hex editors and modifying Linux and Windows scripts but I am not a coder. I am also comfortable using TWRP and flashing ROMS as I have done this with the Kindle and my HP Touchpad. Could anyone here point me in the right direction to help me get the Kindle Fire to boot in this order?

Well I finally figured it out. If anyone else is interested I have attached a write up of the steps I took to do this.
NOTE: I am posting this to people who have some level of knowledge on flashing alternate ROMS and rooting their device. I take no responsibility if you brick your device. These steps worked for me but your outcome could be different:
KF Utility is version 0.9.9 now, think you can update your guide?

can anyone clarify that it is indeed possible to dual boot a Kindle Fire HD 7 between the kindle OS and a regular android rom ? I'm coming across conflicting info and having trouble finding a starting point i guess. Is Kindle Fire OS Modaco a stock kindle OS with all Parental features? Thanks

[Q] kindle fire 1st generation hangs at google nexus animation

Hi,
I installed Android Jelly Bean using the Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.6, sometime back. It was working fine until one fine morning, when the Kindle failed to boot up. The white-and-blue Kindle Fire logo came up, followed by the Google Nexus animation (this was only on one half of the screen, the other half was blank).
So I rebooted into TWRP recovery mode successfully and tried to reinstall the ROM for 4.2.2, however again the Kindle hung up at the animation screen. I tried to use the Kindle Fire Utility, but the kindle appeared offline in it.
I even installed Soupkit on my Ubuntu laptop and tried to connect my kindle to it. It still showed the kindle as offline.
I really liked the Jelly Bean feel on my kindle and now I am missing it.
I hope someone is able to help me out of this.
Thanking in advance,
Aditya Pratap V.
Which 4.2.2 Rom did you install?

Hello, I am new to this thread. My Kindle Fire HD 7' is stuck on a boot loop. I was on another forum, about installing custom ROM, and I followed every step, and I rooted, but, when I rebooted, the Kindle started going into a boot loop. I would really appreciate it if someone could please help out, I just got this Kindle a few days ago.
Thank You.

Not sure if Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is rooted

I have a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" Current Version: 14.3.1.0_user_310079820
I tried to root my kindle a few weeks back and got a bit confused. I can't tell If I have rooted my kindle succesfully.
Installed ADB (Windows states that driver is already installed)
Try to update device drivers, select kindle but no device drivers are avaliable to install.
I'm just really confused. I just want to learn how to root a kindle, install a custom ROM then be able to restore it to stock if I don't like it.
Can any one tell me if I have rooted my device or not?

Apple devices like iPhone's are jailbroke not android devices.
Most of the advantages of jailbraking are already available by default even on a Fire Tablet.
