Hey everyone, I've soft-bricked my Samsung Galaxy S 3 i747m (Rogers, currently unlocked on a Bell network). I want to flash back to the Bell stock rom if I could. I know how to get in to download mode and use Odin to flash a rom, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to be overwriting the existing rom and settings. Is there something I don't know about the Galaxy S 3 747 to get it to take a new rom? Any help is much appreciated!
Sure you got the right version?
Make sure the rom you downloaded is the bell's stock and not att or Roger
And make sure you run Odin as admin

I have a stock, but rooted, AT&T Galaxy S3 4.1.1 -I747UCDLK3- with ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1 and would like to upgrade to 4.3. After reading the posts regarding updating I'm a littler confused. I was wondering 1) can the the bootloader be updated with CWM or does it have to be Odin? 2) Is there a specific order that the updtaes need to be done in (For example does the bootloader have to be updated before the ROM. 3) any tips would be appriciated
Any particular reason you want to update the bootloader? Is it to install custom ROMs or modem?
I'm running a 4.1.2 bootloader on an i747m with a kit kat ROM.

Every thing I've read so far says the bootloader has to be updated. I was hoping to keep the stock AT&T ROM and just root it to remove the bloatware. only upgrading for Gear compatibility.
Just upgrade bootloader to mj2, baseband to mjb. You'll be fine long as it's a AT&T i747.

Looking to root my SGH-I747 but I don't know if it's an at*T or t-mobile. Is there a way to tell? I'm buying it from ebay and it just says unlocked.
Look at the label located under the battery for the exact model.
The i747 is a non-AWS AT&T model.
oh okay cool thanks
I've been doing some research on rooting and romming the s3. If it's running 4.1 I dont have to worry about bootloaders and can install and roms without worry, but if Im running 4.3 then I can't mess with the boot loader right?
The stock 4.3 AT&T bootloader cannot be downgraded and, once you are on the 4.3 bootloader, you cannot use Odin to flash a stock ROM and recovery. You can install custom ROMs with a 4.3 bootloader, it's just that it can be difficult to get the phone working if you run into problems.
On a non-4.3 bootloader, you can use Odin. If you want to run a custom ROM that is not based on a Samsung ROM, you should be fine with a 4.1.2 bootloader and radio.
Cool thanks for clearing that up it makes a lot more sense now. Hope I get a 4.1 then the phones still in the mail.
i have a galaxy s3 i747 which was running on 4.3..i installed a dirty unicorns 4.4.2custom rom and unlocked the bootloader with ez unlock...,i managed to get 4.4.2 debrick file..phone came on but but had no baseband and imei..installed ucufne4 bootloaders and and stock 4.4.2 rom..now it only boots with sdcard debrick image..once sd is removed it wont boot..need help fixing this

Which 4.4.2 ROM did you flash?
BTW, the bootloader on the s3 i747 has never been locked.
i unlocked it with ez unlock by mistake., but it never came back on after restart...but managed to get it powering on with the sd card debrick image 4.4.2..i had dirty unicorn 4.4.2 rom installed..now im on stock 4.4.2 ucufne4 with imei and baseband restored...so how do i relock bootloader so it can boot without sd?..i think the the bootloader is unlocked..not too sure.
You cannot "re-lock" the bootloader as the bootloader was never locked to begin with.
Are you able to the phone into download mode? How did you install the ne4 bootloader and modem?
i was able to boot phone as normal in download mode or recovery..i flashed the ucufne4 modem which restored my baseband and imei..then i downloaded the stock 4.4.2 rooted odex which i flashed in recovery and returned to stock from dirty unicorns rom..but the phone jus wont boot without the sd debrick 4.4.2 image..without the sd its like a hard brick
Did you flash the ne4 bootloader?
bootloader or modem?..i did flash ne4 modem..dont kno wat seems to be preventing it from booting normally.
Depending on the ROM you flashed, it may not have included the bootloader.
so which rom should i flash to fix this...currently on stock rom 4.4.2 right now
Can you run a terminal command to get the bootloader? You can also download the Samsung Phone Info app from the Play store and it will give you lots of info about your phone.
when i type in getprop ro.bootloader...it says i747ucufne4 in terminal command
Seems to me you need the ne4 modem AND bootloader. I'm on ne4 and I flash all 4.4.4 and 5.0.x Roms. Maybe try from scratch and a cm11 ROM to begin with, that's a 4.4.4 ROM.....The newest modem and bootloader is NJ1 if all else fails do some research on the newer firmware

Sounds like you have the right bootloader and modem on your phone but there is no rom.
I suggest booting into download mode, flash philz custom recovery for the d2lte, flash the latest release of cm11, try to boot your phone without sd card.
i have installed the latest cm11 nightly build d2lte for i747...with ucufne4 modem..but phone still dosent boot without debrick sdcard...its like the phone is missing a file for booting...once the sdcard is in with debrick image it will boot..it probably reads from the sd instead of the board..still trying to figure out why this is happening..
finally i got it working...i installed d2att_I747UCUFNE4_bootloader_modem_4.4.2_7-29-14 zip and reinstalled cm11 and restarted phone..and it restarted with out sdcard..every thing is working fine now..gonna install dirty unicorns rom later..thank for the help and support guys.. really appreciate it
Wich files did you use it

Hello felipe here and I am in dire need of help. I currently got my hands on a Samsung note 2 (I317M) which I wanted to unlock as it was with Rogers and I wanted it to work with Mobilicity (Both carriers from Canada) but in doing so I downgraded to Android 4.1.1 and wish to to get 4.4 KitKat as it has a variety of apps that I used before.
I want to software update my phone but I have modified it and I have thought about getting another firmware and was wondering if the phone would still be unlocked. I am not sure. (Came here because I know XDA is filled with people that know more than I do about Android rooting and such)
Any advice would be immensely appreciated. Sorry I f I sounded too naive also
Just flash the latest 4.4.2 stock rom from sammobile.com. Once the phone is network unlocked, it will remain unlocked after flashing custom and stock ROMs.
I recommend creating a back up of the EFS folder in case the folder become corrupt during a flash process.
