Hello all.
So here is my problem -
A few months ago I decided to update to 4.3 from 4.1.2.
I updated manually with Odin to one of the leaked versions that got out.
A couple of months ago I decided to downgrade back to 4.1.2 and wait for the OTA 4.3 that was about to come.
When I manually downgraded to 4.1.2 I had that notorious 0049XX IMEI issue which I couldn't fix, and therefore didn't have calls\sms.
I went to a local phone repair lab and they fixed the IMEI issue. I have no idea what they did, but now my phone is on stock 4.1.2
And the IMEI is back to normal again.
My question is -
I'm tired of waiting my operator to release a 4.3 update (not happening anytime soon).
I want to update manually to UK\Germany\France 4.3. Will I loose my IMEI again ?
Someone told me that a device that had an IMEI issue fixed won't be able to upgrade\downgrade versions
Ever again because it will wipe the IMEI again, Can someone confirm that ?
Someone ?

I updated to JB yesterday with the OTA on T-mobile. I am rooted and used OTA root keeper to restore root. I went to change my build.prop file to change the display density. What I didn't do was use the new build.prop from JB. So I softbricked my phone. I restored to UVALH2 and was going to get the OTA's to go back to JB. When I click on "Software Update" it says I am up to date. I noticed that my baseband is still JB's.
The question here is, does software update go off of what is listed for the Baseband or the Build Number?

Haven't made too many posts where I need to update afterwards. I decided to reflash UVLH2 modem. Once back in phone I went to about device and tried to do the SW update. It prompted me for download.
So, from what I can tell here, OTA are based upon your radio version, to answer my own question. Good day!
Glad you got it figured out. All of that is covered in the Official Jelly Bean thread.
This one is closed. If anyone uses search (ya right jk) and this thread comes up, just go to the above thread.
Hello.
About a month ago I flashed to the new leaked 4.3. yesterday I decided that I wanna go back to 4.1.2
To be able to have OTA updates and warrenty. I flashed back to 4.1.2 and got no service and the 0499xx IMEI issue.
After spending hours over the net trying to resolve this without luck, I gave up and went to a local lab.
They fixed the IMEI issue and I now have network again (phone is now on 4.1.2), but my serial number turned to "00000000000".
Also when I attempt to check for firmware updates, it gives me the "Your device has been modified" message.
Two questions -
1) If I reflash it to the official Samsung 4.1.2, will it fix the issue ?
2) If not then what can be the fix ?
Thanks in advance,
Michael.
Two days ago i bought Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 (international). It had android 4.1.2 but i saw there is available update. After update to official android 4.3 my phone lost signal and started showing me "Not registered on network". 1 day passed since i am searching how to fix this thing. Tried custom rom (4.4.2) and still the same. I went back to official 4.3 for UK O2 , successfully rooted it, passed knox, installed busybox, installed ARIZA Patch. Still the same. Tried to flash MJ5 bootloader via ODIN but it shows me FAIL. And after every FAIL my phone is bricked so i am flashing all over again official ROM. I have NO backups of my EFS (in my search i saw that i need some EFS to repair this thing). I got no issue with WI-FI but only with network. If i revert back to stock android 4.1.2 will i be able to call somebody? If the answer is "YES", would somebody tell me how? I saw in some threads that with new 4.3 ROM note 2 got knox locked bootloader which is impossible to be downgraded. Please, give me guide step by step what to do to repair my phone by myself. Thank you in advance.
I would suggest you to take an efs backup on 4.1. Then flash 4.3 and if you aren't getting network try restoring your efs backup. That might solve your problem.
I upgraded my Note 2 from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 (Official French Rom downloaded from sammobile) yesterday and facing Not Registered on Network Error when I try to make call. My phone is already modified before I buy. This originally came from UAE and modified in Pakistan. I faced same problem when I upgrade to 4.3 which I could not resolve myself after trying so hard. I got it fixed by moving back to 4.1.2 with help of a technician (spent money).
Now again, I tried this latest firmware out of my curiosity. But same problem again? Please help me what to do?

You have a modem problem. Flash the modem that I uploaded. This is the solution.

Please just use search and read/reply to one of the topics that already exists about this issue. We do not need yet another just to re-iterate same things.
