[Q] Note 2 ...4.1.2 NANDROID Backup. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Pls i have an international Gt-N7100 its not mine actually. I Updated it to 4.3 without knowing it has a new bootloader and unfortunately it doesnt work on egypt's Mobile networks yet and i am stuck cannot go back to the 4.1.2....but many people said that they could get it back by A nandroid backup unfortunately also i havent taken any backup ...so can any one upload the nandroid backup of the 4.1.2 because i am stuck and got into trouble and i read an article abt a program looks like cmd usef for softwares but didnt understand it so pls help ??

Nandroid backup is not a general backup, it's individuals rom backup on his/her device through CWM. One's backup doesn't work for other. You better see dr.ketan's threads on Android Development section. There are other threads also regarding this. Here are some names you can send PM, these guys are so helpful

First android phone, Note 2, first root

Hey there, this is my first android phone and well,,, I do not fully understand the meaning of root. I do want to delete some of my stock apps and what not so i rooted my device from a tutorial, but I don't know where to go from here. I looked at a lot of forums on roms and backup and what not, but I just do not understand any of these technicalities, but really want too.
Can someone tell me how to delete and my stock apps and how to customize my phone?
Thank you!
Download and install the paid version of titanium backup, you can use this app to freeze all the app that you want to delete and backup all current apps. Then you can download and install a custom launcher from the market.
Check out the custom ROMS in the development thread. Always make a Nandroid backup before customizing anything and backup your efs folder in case you loose your IMEI number somewhere in the flashing process.

I'll purchase the titanium back up.

Nandroid backup using CWM recovery

Ok I use Nandroid recovery to restore my phones instead or a backup app simply because (1) I'm a cheap bastage and (2) nandroid works from one phone to another as long as I root it, and I have a question. How do I delete a nandroid backup? I have three on the phone right now and I want to delete them and make a new one.
If its on the sd card somewhere, PLEASE be as specific with the file path as possible because I'm as literate about these things as a dead frog.
Al that I am sure of is rooting my Epic is easy as long as I watch qbkikng videos and whoever made cwm recovery is a friggin genius
Nandroid backups only work with the same model phone. I.e. you have a nandroid backup before flashing on an Epic, the flashing bricks it so you get a new Epic, you can restore the backup as long as you're rooted. Also the file path using CWM recovery is /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup

Thanks, I know it only works with the same model phone, that makes sense to me I got my second replacement Epic in 6 days yesterday and had to root it to make it work the first one wouldn't connect to the network so it was defective according to Spring and this one basically was a good as a dead cat before root, now it runs like a champ but Titanium backup dumped 70% of my apps, so luckily for me I remembered make a nandroid backup only thing is now that everything is updated, I want to make a NEW backup just in case.
I see you already got your answer, but please next time post questions in Q&A section not development, Thanks!
Kenny, mind moving this when you get a sec?!?!

Backing up qcn through QPST for T889 TMOBILE

Ok so I followed the basic steps to create a backup of my qcn and produced a ~250kb file... not sure if this is adequate (size seems small?) but my phone seems to still be working fine so I guess ill share this experience and hope everone can expand or follow my lead to create a safe and secure thread to back up efs/modem/nv/imei
This OP will be updated as processes and verification of reliability stabilize.. not sure if there is already a thread for this but once I can confirm the process I used is adequate than proper thanks will be given and links will be provided....
Still need to confirm each and every step I used is accurate for backing up and restoring EFS/NV/Modem/imei so please be patient as this thread expands to hopefully prepare everyone to not fear the possible borked or mis-flash... I ultimately hope this thread can help everyone prepare a back up of their original stock files so there is no more mistakes without proper backups... if you have backed up any of these files and had success restoring than please feel free to share your solutions

You should also use the Androidmizer app to back up the EFS partition. The size with that app the EFS Backup comes out to be like 20mb or so. Look in the Themes and Apps section.
I've heard that backing up your phone on twirp can back up your esf folder

[Q] ClockworkMod recovery temp [NO ROOT, NO FLASH]

Hi all,
Just a question about recovery.
I want to use Clockworkmod (or an other recovery) but i can't flash or root my phone.
I have a Samsung galaxy note 1 and i use "cwm6-recovery-n7100-121014.zip" , I love it because i can use it with my sd card and i don't flash or root my device. ยจ
I just boot on the recovery stock and make a "update from Sd card"
Is there a solution which already exists for my Galaxy note 2 to have the CWM without root or flash??
This request is for my job, and if a developer want to work with me for find a solution, you can send me a private message...
You can't do it on note2.
Unless Samsung listen this and pm you to share their sign key.
As at presently note2 doesn't allow test sign.

Of course.... Bad news for my jobs.
I must use Ultimate Backup Tool for Backup/restore my device... But without root, the backup is not safe and total.
In any case, thank you for your quick response...
Try carbon app sync and backup
best for non rooted device.

I want to make an Nandroid backup full. With config system, screen, app, wifi...
Before your response, i hoped that i can use CWM..But it's not possible for me.. snif
But any special reason for not rooting

I must configure 500 NOTE 2 et 400 S3 with the same config... It's for my jobs.. i can't root the phone
I configure 400 Galaxy NOTE 1 with CWM on a SD card without flash or root...
Just try carbon
Make backup of one (on pc) then restore on other devices. I think it can restore setting (configuration) and applications too, just os will remain same.

I test carbon and it's a very good app, but this app does not backup System param (like energy saving mode ON, config...)
This params are simple but multiply by 800 devices... to much jobs for my little hand.
i think, they have lot of solution for me but not the perfect solution like CWM..
Thanks for your time.
(i can't donate you with paypal...paypal say, you're account can't receive money...)
Giving you idea, I have never tested myself but if you want to work on it.
Get 1 device root, extract data partition from it and make tar file from it. You may flash that tar to other device.
This is my assumption only and you need to further work on it.
Your preferences should save in data only, param is just for bootanimation AFAIK, b'coz you are loosing setting while factory reset, which simply wipe data partition.

It's good idea but when you flash the other devices, the warranty is avoid? And if you have any trouble ith the device, samsung can see that you have flash the phone no?
only flashing custom recovery/kernel can be detected by samsung
VERY GOOD NEWS for me !!!
I'll try to work on it now.
Thank you very much for your advice.
No result for me because, I'm not strong enough in android development.

Efs folder backup?

Hi, I stupidly went back to stock and lost my imei number without making a efs backup, when I used aroma it asked if I wanted to make an efs backup and I said yes.
Would that backup help me in returning fully to stock rom? If so, where would that backup be stored in my phone?
Hope someone can help
Thanks a lot

I must add that I didnt back up on the stock rom, I was already on a custom rom, if that helps.
Many thanks

The backup you made will be no good cause it will contain the efs of the new rom you installed.. you can check though. The efs backup will be on your sd card..
Sdcard/EFS
In efs theres folders inc imei wifi bluetooth etc

Do I have to be rooted to see that folder? As its not in my sd card, the only way I can see that folder is in root explorer but im not rooted at the moment.
Can I ask one more question? If I were to put stock rom back on my phone and use newer modem, my imei and network will come back, would I be able to get ota updates? Because when ive tried to search for an update, it would just hang on searching.

Yes. Copy them to your pc under efs backup aswell for safe keeping. There are guides on here of how to restore your efs with 4.1.2 roms but you will need root.
As you have efs backup I found this for you. Make sure you read and understand before doing anything..

That zip file in the link is a app. Download install.. if you backed up the efs on the stock rom before flashing the new rom it will work..
The only other thing to do is flash this modem via cwm recovery.
It says it fixes the problem

I still have a back up from efs pro? can I use that to restore my efs? if so how??
please help, im screwed
You've backed up the new modified efs folder which is only compatible with the new firmwares. You can restore from that backup, in fact you need to, but there is no going back to old firmware now. You can achieve stock if you download and flash a stock rom of version DME6 or newer, but you can never use anything older again.

How would I go about restoring that backup from efs pro? As when I am trying to select it in the restore section of efs pro it can not be seen in drop down box?
It is in tar format, there is a pit file with it but I guess as I wiped everything out of my actual efs folder through root explorer it might not work.
Also I have a pop up on my screen with loads of different information like an error pop up? I cant screen shot it other wise I would show u
