Ok so I got a HTC Windows Phone 8S running Windows Phone 8 Amber and I'm the HTC 8S is a nice phone, but I justt find its too limited.
I have trouble with the storage and want to run more games.
No matter how many apps I deinstall, the game Six Guns always says not enough storage.
One year ago I was using the HTC HD2 with android flashed on it and I'm just wondering whether the same thing can be done to the HTC 8S?
Any android roms or developings for the HTC 8S?
Thanks
Use this fix.

Your HTC 8S running on Windows Phone 8 GDR2, because Lumia Amber is a Firmware of Nokia and only Nokia...
Not of Android ROM on HTC 8S.

what do you guys think?
jazz
Perso I got a Touch HD and I'm waiting for my Desire.
So, of course, I think it's a good idea buddy ;-)
I’m one of the many long faces, today i didn’t receive my desire
The HD is not bad device but is little bit sloWwwwwWWw
Yes I’m changing it for HTC Desire.
Yea I have ordered a desire, coming from a HD. HD is a beautiful device, but lags quite a bit. Only way to use it smoothly is running wm6.1 with m2.1, which just sucks anway lol.
If only a new version of the hd came out with snapdragon, android etc. Would be nice. Still feel the HD is one of the sexiest devices....

That's a HD2 more than a HD.
I had my HD for around a year, it died on me due to constantly flashing, hard resets and WinMo in general.
I would be going towards WinMo ever again ... unless WP7 is leagues ahead and even then I prefer the Android freel (I own a Zune HD).
I think the Desire is going to be miles better in so many ways. Such as:
REAL FLIPPING KEYS! I hated the fact the HD didn't "catch" my touches sometimes.
Better camera, the HD camera was slow and a pain.
Android > WM 6 or 6.5
Faster ... that's a given ...
Sense; the real Sense UI!
That's just a summary list off the top of my head.
Same here, i'm moving from Touch HD to Desire and can't wait for it.
Even thou last sense ui version extracted from touch pro 2 is smooth and light, on touch hd animations and the overall usage of the phone is still a bit slow for my tastes.
I sold my HTC Touch HD few weeks ago because this phone, now I use one old Nokia E51 and I'm waiting HTC Desire to become available in on-line markets I have pre-ordered it about a 2-3 weeks ago,
I think that change is worthed:
Faster device,
As beautiful as HD,
Android is better,
Better screen,
Hardware buttons (this is better for me).
Personally I would move from any Windows Mobile device, Android is far superior in every way. Put it this way, I have a Hero and I am upgrading to a Desire.......
So, as the title suggests i would like to know how many of you are thinking of buying the new Desire S.
I have a DHD now but i don't like it as much as i liked th Desire so i'm thinking of buying the S one.
Hope it will be as fun as the old classic Desire...
No
Desire was the best mobile phone last year at that time, Desire S is only avarage today. I will replace Desire with probably Galaxy S2.
Desire S is just a replacement, not an upgrade so I am not going to waste money on just a little more space and a little better stuff. Dual or even quad will be my next phone in a years time.
I'm just hoping HTC will bring out an NFC phone in time for my next upgrade, otherwise I don't know which manufacturer I might have to turn to. I still want an android but don't want to give up Sense.
HTC Desire S is a nice phone but not an upgrade to Desire , it's just for older phone owners.
I don't think I will ever buy a Samsung. Unless they keep monoploizing the amoled supply.

No. It only have 256 mb of ram more, some internal and newer snapdragon. I don't know why HTC doesn't have any dual core cpu.
And I prefer trackball + physical buttons, not the capacitive ones.
Motorola Atrix looks intresting, but probably it will be hard to hack.
I will wait probably to 2012, Desire is now perfect for me.

I think that trackpad is awesome on the Desire and should be kept on ALL HTC phones. I don't like how they have gotten around the problem by adding arrows to the keyboard. It just uses up screen space which sucks. WTB trackpad please
No, definetly not.
I love my Desire, best phone I've ever had. There's too little differences between the phones that would make a difference in choice.

which i think doesnt really matter, since you have as2d+, data2ext and all that stuff.
i love my desire
I am not ready to change yet. My Desire still dos everything that I ask of it (and more) and whilst the low memory affects me more than I would like for now there is nothing out there to tempt me.
But I think it is fair to say that my next phone won't automatically be another HTC.
One thing I have learnt with the Desire it that Android is Android and the current software setup I have and screen layout cold be achieved on ANY Android device.
So the whole HTC Sense thing (which on my previous Winmo HTC phones was essential) adds little value for me on Android.
So a naked Nexus type device would be tempting keeping me bang up to date but with full control but not just yet.
Nope just got my desire and not ready to change but to be honest i see the s as the way the original desire should have been ie more Space . Hopefully when it's time for me to upgrade there will be something worth saying i upgraded to out but if it's one of these honestly i think i would just end up flogging it on ebay lol
No go for me either.
I'm very satisfied with my old Desire (tweaked it a lot though).
I'm getting the LG Optimus 2x soon to play with.
But I'm keeping both phones.

I wanted to ask you why do you like the classic htc desire (bravo) more than the desire hd? I have the classic desire with a amoled screen and I actually want to sell it and buy me a DHD but now you are saying that the desire classic is better I don't know what to do anymore so can you tell me why it is better to stick with the classic one? thnx in advance
Absolutely not. I had to go through so much trouble just to get some free memory while Samsung and others are delivering 16 Gb of internal memory. I think HTC is cheap and is missing the point. Of course I have rooted and ext2 but still...

If you look at the HTC Desire specs and the Desire S specs there's not much which is different. Just some memory added and a front facing camera.
We know the Desire S comes with Gingerbread but the normal Desire will be getting it soon too.
Desire has been around for around 1 Year and till today it is one of the top phones.Me,personally wouldn't go for the Desire S but it's personal choice at the end of the day.
I've heard good things about the Galaxy S 2,being the thinnest smartphone with a Dual Core Processor .
There needs to be something revolutionary introduced on the phone market for me to switch from my Desire
No way am I getting Desire S. I don't think HTC intended to entice the Desire users with Desire S. I have a funny feeling HTC has an upgrade-worthy phone but decided not to show it at the convention.

Since the phone beats it in ram and camera and other stuff and i;ve seen how smooth everything is in desire hd much better than htc hd2. But of course htc hd2 can run windows phone 7 and now also mango the latest version.. So im not so sure for now.
Are there anymore pluses towards the htc desire hd that i have not mentioned?
If you want to change between systems and try all updates, stay at the HD2. It´s the only device, which is able to run WP7, WM 6.5 and Android, also other systems. If you want to have a modern android device, which can be rooted, buy the DHD. If you don´t wanna root this time, buy the Sensation, because it has the fastest HTC CPU.
I´ve sold my HD2 in the spring and bought at 1st the Samsung Omnia 7, then the HD7 and at last the DHD. With the DHD i´m satisfied, but sometimes a little tear is rolling for the HD2. The best is, to buy DHD and have the HD2 too. The HD2 was the device, which i owned for the longest time, since i use PPC´s and smartphones.
Money=problem

Yes, well the best costs a lot of money And I cannot afford the best, so I think I'm going to trade my htc hd2 in for a htc desire hd!
Thanks for all the answers!
I have both, and frankly, DHD much better in my opinion
Hi guys and girls
I lost access to my old XDA account but I decided to make a new one so here I am.
I used to be very active in the HTC Wildfire section but my contract with Three ran out so it's time for upgrading my device and I have chosen to go with a Virgin Mobile contract that includes the HTC One V Device.
So what I am basically asking is after viewing some reviews for myself I would like to know the following...
1) Is the HTC One V a smooth, fast and reliable device with it's stock ROM?
2) Is the device up to standards for example is it as good as you thought it would be?
3) Do you personally think that the HTC One V is better than the HTC Wildfire and if so why?
Also I have seen some videos on YouTube and some people were saying that the device has a battery that cannot be detached and others were showing the device with a detachable battery so are there two different versions of the same phone? :S
Thanks guys

1) Yes mine is very quick even with the stock rom. I've since rooted it and installed CM9 but that was not because of performance/reliability problems stock but rather because I wanted more options available to me
2) Mine is so much better than I thought. It just works. Of course I came from an Optimus V so it's definitely a big improvement.
3) Everything I've heard says this thing beats the Wildfire out of the water!
I should note that the One V (among other phones) is 20% off at virginmobileusa.com right now. I paid full boat for mine now I wish I had waited a few weeks! Oh well no complaints.
Mine does NOT have a detachable battery but if you hold the power button down for ten seconds it forces it to power off.
Yes,
I recently moved from a desire,.
The Desire is very similar in specs to the One V, but:
* much brighter screen
* no messing with data2sd, or other scripts. Given the nand size of the V I reinstalled all the same 92 apps as my desire, room for way more. And way faster and smoother as everything is on the nand. I believe this will apply to you as well coming from the wildfire.
*having the latest and greatest is awesome. (ics and sense 4.0) On my desire I had all the "smooth rosie" tweaks I could find to flatten 3d effects etc. Speed was more important to me. Because of this I do NOT mind that we are missing 3d effects that the S and X have.
Make the move Dude, you'll Love this phone if you liked the wildfire.

I just got it last friday and I love it.
Better than My nexus S and that lame zte avail.
I understand you are not first to an android phone. So to answer your 3rd question first - Wildfire is NOT a competition for One V (in all regards). And question 2, yes it is better than what I thought it would be. and finally to question 1. It will surely depend on what you intend to do with the phone. If you are looking to buy an everyday phone, One V will be a good option (I am on stock ROM)
Im currently using HTC Desire HD. I like the 8s design. And WP8 looks beutifull for me. Would you recommend to buy it for me? Go from Android to Windows Phone 8?

The positive review of Lumia 920 make us become interested in WP 8 , and I have seen many articles about the WP 8, the present interface is really friendly and different from Android. HTC 8S is a great WP 8 phone, too, but keep in mind, there are not many apps in Windows store.

How is the software support from ms? Can i expect future updates?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
I made similar change recently. I changed the Samsung Galaxy S for the HTC 8S. To be honest - great change. Everything works, but... There are several issues reported due to limited storage and missing navigation (at least in Slovakia). I like this device. I do not play any games, so these storage issues are not relevant for me. With regards to the limited number of applications in Store. In my opinion - if you want, you will find relevant alternatives. For the future - no reason to change back to Android, at least on phone devices.
Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk HD
It's a good phone, just be sure that it has enough memory for you...
There is enough space for the most important apps and maybe 2-3 simple games...
If you need offline navigation only Here Drive from Nokia is possible right now.. because it uses the internal WP maps... But it's not now available in all countries...
I'm using it as my second phone and left my laggy android behind...
So you say to stay with DHD?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda app-developers app
DHD is indeed great device. In my opinion - if you keen to change device for newer one, HTC 8S is good choice. If you want better performance and want to move to Windows Phone platform, take a look at HTC 8X or Nokia Lumia 920.
