Do you have a case on the device. I had the same problem and I took the case off and know everything works again.

Had same problem, that what it was. My case had magnets in it I am thinking that they were causing all the trouble.
Had the same problem here. Discovering that it was the magnets in the case was a pure fluke. I'm glad to see that you've resolved your issue too.

I don't know how this happened because my G2 is only a month old & looks like it's brand new but the screen stopped working and there are vertical lines up & down it. T-Mobile has sent a new phone on it's way, but I don't want to send the old one back before factory resetting because it still has personal info, etc. So, basically I need the keystrokes for a factory reset.
Here's what I have so far:
1. Hold "vol down + power" to turn on phone.
2. ??????
3. Factory reset
Again, I just need the keystrokes here.
Thanks so much!
2. wait about 5-10 seconds, then press volume down twice, then press power.
Thanks so much! Unfortunately I won't be able to confirm. Too bad they don't have hdmi output so I could verify, but such is life.
Same Problem
Just wanted to post that I left my brand new g2 in my coat pocket a few nights ago and when I grabbed it out a couple hours later the SAME THING HAD HAPPENED.
Lines up and down screen. I could not figure out how to reset it. I went to TMobile and exchanged it for a MT4G, which I am really liking so far.
Anyone else experiencing this problem???
Yes, it was very odd to not have my screen working. I didn't get it wet or traumatize it in any way.
When I called T-mobile to request a replacement, they had me pull the battery & verify a white dot underneath was still white. I suppose that's the modern day canary in the coalmine to verify I didn't break warranty terms.
i saw this problem the other day, not sure what is causing it but the phone i saw it on was a "authorized" reseller for tmo and was going out of business

ddms in the android sdk.
use ctrl + s if you have ddms up and running and it'll give you a screenshot
About a month ago my phone randomly started rebooting out of nowhere. It was in my pocket and rebooted a few times and stayed on for a while. It kept getting worse and worse to the point where it would not even boot up. I updated the phone using Kies and it worked for a few hours, but then it went back to doing the same thing. The warranty already expired and I replaced the screen on the summer, so it doesn't have the sticker behind the battery.
Today I installed the original software using Odin and it turned on and booted and seemed to work fine for around 2 minutes, but then it restarted and kept rebooting again. I have also noticed that the menu at the beggining when you press Vol + and - and the power button is not the same one as factory. Please help me out here with any possible solutions and let me know if you need more details. Thanks.
What does the recovery say when you press the volume keys and power button? Have you rooted it since you Odin'd back to stock?
Sounds similar to others who have had the power button go bad on them, search the general section and you can read up on that issue. Since you were able to replace the screen it shouldn't be a problem for you to replace the button actuator too!

Yeah I researched and tested the phone and the power button seems to be the issue. When I put the battery in the phone, it automatically turns on, so I guess it needs to be replaced. I will look into replacing it. Thanks. If you know how to do it, please help me out.
I'm having this issue too but i cleaned the power button with a straw(Capri sun)..i just made it pointy and cleaned around....been working fine for a whole day. I avoid pressing it so i use volume to wake phone up. I hope it helps, i was all crazy about my phone like 2 days ago because i didn't know what was the problem. If anything PM me.

Quite a few members here have used that service so yes it's safe. I wasn't happy with the amount of time it took, but it's a good service otherwise.
Troubleshooting Advice
Have similar issues with sensitivity and powering off. Are there steps to take to make sure it is not failure of any other type?
Hi all,
I have a galaxy note 2, bought in November 2012, I rooted it a few months ago.
Yesterday it was fine, battery was fully charged and it was in my pocket.
It was not doing anything out of the ordinary but when I went to check the time I noticed it was off and I couldn't get it to switch back on at all I tried removing the battery, putting it on charge and still nothing. I tried recovery mode too - nothing.
The only thing that happens when i try switch it on is the little red light from the proximity sensor flashes for a split second.
Has anyone heard of this before?? I've searched and cant seem to find anything like this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
try to flash Stock firmware via Odin....
Unfortunately this is the main symptom of Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS). There is no known way to fix it by yourself.
Contact samsung service center ASAP.
Can you answer these questions.
Which firmware was installed on your device?
Have you updated your device to the latest update?
Till you updated it, have you done a factory reset with the old firmware?

Exactly what was happening to me. Had the Notification LED blinking, wanted to check, couldn't manage to turn on the screen. Tried rebooting, but can't even see the boot-logo. Battery pulled - nothing. USB port not working when connecting to a PC.
I had MIUI on it with an increased counter, since here in Switzerland it isn't a big deal when you mod your device.
I hope they will ignore the fact of the increased binary flash counter...
Hello,
So, I have had my M8 since around May and it's been perfectly fine up until July/August when I have two problems;
1. The first is that occasionally a black bar pops up on the phone and says hold the volume up and power button for 10 seconds to restart. I don't know why this keeps happening.
2. Secondly, when I'm using apps like Whatsapp and swyping on the keyboard, it'll just stop typing/go into the contacts profile/do other things with the phone when all I want to do is type.
Any ideas as to why? I asked HTC Support and they just said to clear the cache. I did that but to no avail.
Thanks,
Crazysah
using stock rom ? you can always try factory reset
Yes, am using stock. Always have been. Tried a soft reset and ever a hard reset.
It's this sort of thing: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/howto/465048.html - but it comes up occasionally and automatically in my case.
Nobody knows why this happens?

I was going to say maybe its a malfunction of the power button. But actually, if you hold the power button, the Phone Options (Power off, Airplane mode, Restart) dialogue appears first, and the Reset countdown appears a few seconds after that.
If this isn't happening for you, I suspect a software error or some sort.

No, I know what recovery is, but how would that help exactly. I mean, I've already done factory reset, cleared cache, done all that customer support has told me to do besides give the phone in for repairs.

Sorry, my answer was a direct response to @PoweredTek 's reply
I really don't know the exact nature of your issue.
The black bar where and when?
Maybe a screen shot would help.
I would truly like to help you solve your problem.
Now that I realize the user who`s comments I was responding to (lol), please disregard my earlier reply.
I'm sure we can find a solution for you.

Like you know when you change the volume on your phone a black bar pops up? A bar like that pops up and says the phone will restart in ten seconds and then I just press the volume up button and it dissapears.
Like when you press the volume up + power button together, the bar that pops up? That comes automatically and often. I have no idea why.

Also, are you running a custom kernel perhaps?

Hello, I'm looking for help with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite SM-T110.
The problem I am having is it is stuck on the screen that flashes on when you first power on the tablet, so it's the screen that says samsung galaxy tab 3 lite SM-T110. It isn't on solid, it just keeps flashing over and over again. I can not turn the power off. I tried holding the power button for a full minute and got nothing.
I have tried to get to recovery mode by holding power, volume up and home but all I get is a screen with a little android laying down saying no command.
I know next to nothing about tablets so I am really at a loss here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know exactly what happened, it's my kids tablet. The battery was dead so I charged it and when I took it off the charger I noticed this problem. There is a pretty good chance it was dropped but of course no one is admitting that.
The only thing I can do with it is go into download mode. If I try to get into recovery mode it just shows a little android guy on his back and says no command. The start up screen flashes continuously until the battery goes dead. I can't turn it off at all.

Hi I am having the same problem. Nothing that I know of has been done to mine. It's my mom's actually and I know it has been running slow. All I get is the flashing screen and little android guy saying no command. Tried the home power and volume up and that's when I get the little A guy with no command message. What can I do since I don't get anything else.
