Recently, I unlocked and enabled AWS my Note 2 i317m through the ways posted on this website.
By doing all those, i got rid of the sim warning sign and detected Wind signal.(Like T-mobile since both use aws1700/2100 band)
But somehow, I get the data, (displayed that its 4g but probably 3g+) but not the phone signal and a warning sign that says - unable to use the selected network (WIND).
Is there something wrong with my sim or with my phone software/hardware?
Help please.. Im a noob

Hey everyone- not new to the community but i need some help in figuring out what exactly needs to be done for me to get service in Toronto.
I have tmobile and i refuse to pay the roaming charges they have for Canada- I plan to use a telus or rogers prepaid sim. Which one should i choose and why? i am only there for the weekend too so dont need a bunch of minutes or anything.
Also- i have put in a request to get my phone unlocked through tmobile. Once i have it unlocked- do i just pop in either a Telus or Rogers SIM and be on my way? or is there more to it such as flashing a specific radio??
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Can't help you regarding which operator to pick . I can however tell you that once you receive the network unlock code , simply pop in the SIM card and move on. That's all there is to it.
yup it's that easy
just punch in the unlock code and you are done
you can use any network you want, since our phone is Pentaband, it will work with any operator with a SIM card in Canada
might want to turn of auto DATA sync as it will eat up your pre-paid in record time
data charges are ridiculous on pre-paid cards, so use manual sync for only the stuff you need to find/get
Thanks for the reply guys- I received the unlock code from Tmobile today and applied it using an ATT sim card.
So i dont have to flash any modems/radios? saw something in another thread about that or is that strictly to gain 3g/4g speeds on those carriers?

not true, i've been using the Tmo version of the phone since day one, without changing any radio and i get top speed
I have a stock/generic LT28i from Asia. Totally unlocked and all. I'm in the US off and on, so I got a post-paid AT&T plan with data. 3G works great on my HTC One X (European version, meaning no LTE). I popped the SIM in my LT28i and 3G works, but not LTE. If I try to change the network mode to LTE/WCDMA/GSM, it instantly switches back to WCDMA/GSM. If I put my 3 Sweden SIM in the phone, I can set it to LTE/WCDMA/GSM and see [LTE] AT&T in the network search list. So it seems like there's some switch in the software that's forcing LTE off for my AT&T SIM. Any idea what's going on and how I can fix it? I was having issues with my phone bootlooping so I did a full reflash of the generic 6.1.E.2.29.
Is that account setup for LTE with AT&T?

You may need an AT&T 4G LTE compatible SIM card. I had the iPhone 4 with the mini sim and when I got my Xperia ion they told me I needed a new LTE SIM despite the fact that my then current SIM would have fit the in the ion (and they look the same, except my old SIM had the 3G logo on it).
Maybe you current sim is att 3G.
Same thing happened to me a few times. Kept switching to wcdma preferred. Try clearing cache, dalvik and reboot. Eventually I did get it to stick. Also when this happened to me Rogers network was having an lte outage, so that might have had something to do with it. But persistence did pay off in the end.
And yes you obviously do need an lte sim and the lte apn's for whatever network you're on.
Is your APN set correctly?

Probably figured it out, and never bothered to post something to mark this thread as resolved. Now people that search and find this thread will never know the solution.

Ah sorry, I actually gave up and put the SIM in my One X (HSPA-only version) instead. 3G was good enough for my needs. Maybe on my next trip to America I'll put more effort into it.
having the same issue
I'm having the same issue, built I'm on net10, which is supposed to support lte speeds, but i don't get higher than 3g for their att compatible service.
Also, unable to root after phone overheated and did original gb att to gb lt28i, to ics.. the rootme or e4root neither one would work. I've got backups, but they're under titanium backup and cwm, of which neither can i access without root. Is there an .ftf firmware prerooted on ics that doesn't require anything but flashtool to install and add cwm, since I'm sure I'm not the only person with such an issue. If I've overlooked it, direct me to the page where it is, all I've found so far is stock roms, and deodexed, which i can't use.. Also, my boot loader is locked.. I've checked all threads about root and ion, and noon have been helpful with my recent issues..any downloads needed to rectify this and not the usual I've already done that loop back to the same popular pages would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: sorry, i didn't see how old this thread was...and to the above, i'm not sure if what it wrote applies to your network...but most likely you need to look into APN settings required by your carrier...
Got my zl today excited then let down by problems with internet, so i insert sim and it picks up tmobile and auto download settings then when it start downloading google play apps it hangs. I go to chrome loop up a page get "error 502 bad request the server could not resolve your request", i have full bars and H+ but wont connect. I also notice that when i insert the sim i can just pull it out with out pressing down on it. Any help...
UPDATE: Got it working just need to tweak the APN settings, for future tmobile user the automatic download setting are not correct here is the link for Tmobile settings http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1979

T-Mobile
I know the ZL (6506) is capable of working with T-Mobile's new LTE network, but my question concerns the IMEI number and your account with T-Mobile. On AT&T, your account has to have an IMEI number that is known and recognized by AT&T so as to enable LTE connectivity. Is this also the case with T-Mobile??

The info or where you got your info is incorrect. you DONT have to have a IMEI number that is known to AT&T to have LTE. I have changed phones prob 20 times since I got my first LTE phone and NEVER had to change it again.
You can be on the LTE data plan and everything work fine on a old dumb edge phone then put the sim card back in an LTE device and it still work fine...
LTE worked fine on a Canda Note 2 and One X
Same here. TMo does not care. I just started using my ZL teo days ago, before that was Nexus 4. Just took the SIM from the N4 and inserted in the ZL. All works!

Hey people, I'm seriously considering picking up a Sony Xperia ZL C6502 Black. I'm aware that it doesnt support LTE on either network, but the price is insanely lowwww! My question is, does anyone know what kind of speeds I can expect to see on TMO and ATT respectively? I'm currently using an ATT Gnote 2 on ST/ATT and I have a Nexus 4 as a backup which I use on the TMO $30/"unlimited" data plan. I only point this out to indicate that I don't get LTE speeds now, which sorta makes it a "You can't miss what you never had" type of deal. I roughly get about 14-17mbs down on either device. Is there any chance I'd enjoy the same with the 6502 on either of these plans??? Any help/insight or even opinions, would be greatly appreciated.
The speeds to expect will be the same as you have now.......

i just received my ZL C6502 today and noticed that the data connection does not work at all. i followed the APN settings on the t-mobile link you gave and still no dice (it does show full bars and H+ as you mentioned and when i switch the SIM to my old G2X its on full HSPA+ speed). i left the house and it was running ok suddenly and streamed netflix, etc. but when i went home it lost the connection again. I'm suspecting that this phone does not really work on t-mo's 1700 AWS even though the box says so and that i only got online outside the house because that area is on the 1900mhz refarm. is there any difference to t-mo's AWS 1700 and regular HSPA 1700mhz?! any insight or help is appreciated!!
I have a 6506 on TMo so I am limited in help. However, someone in my office has a 6502 on TMo and it is working fine. He had trouble until he manually set it. Same case as mine.
Perhaps you have a defective unit? Try removing and reinserting the SIM card. Perhaps a factory reset.
I had mine for almost a month and has been flawless in LTE when in DC and HSPA in Dallas.

The 6502 is the same as 6506 but without lte it should work I don't have 1900 coverage and I'm always on hspa and there's no lte were I'm at either. U need to make sure the apn is set exactly there should not be any values under proxy and port also under apn type have it blank that was the issue with mine those three things had values and was messing up internet. Also there's three different apn you have use. 1. Fast.tmobile.com (Lte), 2. Epc.tmobile.com, 3. Internet2.voicestream.com. Give it a try.

thanks for the help guys. ive gathered all that info earlier and did try the three APNs different combinations / proxy - no proxy, etc to no avail. i'm leaning on faulty hardware or messed up radio. i'll just sleep over it but so far its been disappointing :crying: great phone though...
As a quick update I did literally sleep over it and I'm happily up and running with hspa.. I literally left the phone alone overnight lol. Rooted the fone and all I need is to figure out how to get to recovery to put CWM since pressing vol up at boot is not working and flashboot isnt going either (that's for another post). Moody bastard this ZL is.. Anyway Thanks again!

I have a 6506 on TMo without any issues. I live in LA without TMo LTE, but speeds have been as high as 18Mbps in West LA. I only have the issues of bad coverage at my house, but that's just TMo and not the phone.

That's the thing you had an LTE phone AT&T had in their system when your account was provisioned for LTE so you never had a problem after that. For those people that have the ZL as their first LTE phone on AT&T they will have to first get the account setup for LTE using a phone AT&T recognizes on their network.
So basically put the SIM in an AT&T LTE phone, have AT&T provision it for LTE then once that's done you can put it in any other LTE phone and it will work fine

I have a ATT sgh-i747 4.4.2 KitKat unlocked and I use for Carrier Claro PR the connection to 4G lost in a few minutes from start up I can not do a call or use internet only wifi, I put apn from Claro PR LTE but nothing, I go to ServiceMode and in band selection are in Automatic I change to GSM all and works but in edge network for internet too slow but I can do any call, then I change to WCDMA all but not work I use WCDMA 850mhz only this works 4G, I use LTE all but only internet connection, what I can do to have all connection works including LTE. Thanks, if someone can help me will be apreciate.
Did it ever work properly on that carrier. If so, when did this start, and did you do anything to the device (flashing, modding, etc) just before it started?

HI Doc thanks for respond, I bought this phone used and phone have version 4.3 with PhilipTouch Recovery but system not have root or SuperSU then I flash stock recovery to use the update.cfg rename it to.zip and now are 4.4.2 stock rom official but in 4.3 same issue with network, I copy from my fathers phone att s3 NVfiles with QPST and I flashed to mine and put again my imei but nothing, what do you really think what happened in you're experience?
Im not really sure, but since you bought it used you should check to make sure the imei isnt blacklisted.
Does your fathers S3 work on the same network? Try swapping SIM cards. Test your card in his device and your device with his card.

My fathers phone is from ATT network, but I put my imei from my broken phone Galaxy s3 and is not black listed and is from Claro PR Network but let me see if my father give me again his phone because he don't want any body touch it and i dont know if is unlocked, I had to beg, and it was a miracle that gave me the phone to extract from his phone the nvfiles last time, you know if I can try something else DocHoliday??? Thanks.:good:
If you changed the original IMEI that's exactly why you are experiencing problems.
Anything but the original one assigned to the device will most likely cause problems. Even if its from another device that's the same model.

So I bought this phone the other day from a kid, and I saw it was pulling LTE with a Nano Sim from ATT - so I figured great, I threw in an Mirco SD card with unlimited data from ATT - it's only showing HSPA+ 6/4 up down which I can live with. I redid all the apn settings to make sure I'd be able to use it for text/calling etc. Reason I decided to get this phone was because I wanted to root it and then hotspot on it. I don't know why att has to be a douche bag about hot spotting. I'm okay if they gave some basic cap (even with the unlimited plan), but alias I am unable to get LTE speeds no matter how I goof around with the phones apn settings. I don't know how he got LTE speeds on the phone. However the LTE symbol popped up it wasn't rooted at the time.
Now next question: I have twrp installed and I've flashed/wiped/reset the crap out of this phone goofing around with some of the settings. Deleting all the Verizon stuff, but Now I'm kinda wondering if I am at a stand still. I understand after reading a bit that Verizon and ATT using different bands, so I understand I may be capped because of that. But I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that when he popped in that little sim card it showed LTE and It was in fact an ATT sim.
So now on to why I made this post - I'm wanting to flash an att 910a firmware to the phone. I understand it's risky - but if I have TWRP in stalled won't I be able to get myself out of a boot loop? OR will it render the phone unable to log into twrp? I've read people using the 910t firmware on a 910v phone. I know there is kernels bits and bytes that may render the phone useless? I'm hoping by flashing the ATT firmware on there it'll allow me to get LTE speeds.
Also, when flashing the 910a is there a kernel that's preferred?

So... Google FTW - I now Have realized after reading that ATT has very ignorant customer server reps. After posting this I was thinking I wonder if that KID got LTE because he had a nano sim or because he has an IMEI that is LTE compatiable that is registered to ATT... So I decided to pull my sim out of my note 5 make it touch all the contacts in the sim card slot and booted the phone. Registered as 4g (not hspa+) and ran a speed test and I got 55/15 not to mention it instantly connected to the att network. So I need to call att and give them either the imei to this phone or give them a dummy one. Cause it is obviously compatiable enough to get LTE type speeds... But not with the new sim card they gave me (bit of info: I had a samsung tab a tablet with unlimited data and didn't know the sim isn't swappable to phones, so I had to have a new sim programmed in it's place so I could use phone/text etc with the note 4 910v).
You know sometimes when you're talking to a rep that doesn't understand technology.
