İ also wonder this question so much

I haven't tried the exynos version but only the snapdragon and I can confirm also that version has some lags but I think they are acceptable.
I hope with some official update it will be better.
Or maybe with a no-bloatware rom.

Hi.
You should search around the forum for snapdragon vs exynos threads, tons of them. this question has been asked a few times (or at least similar versions of the question)
Long story short, not much difference in the lag between the two models. ( I've actually tried both had LTW version for about a month ++, currently running the wifi only version, due to it being the only one I could get with 32 Gb , + the price and I didn't really need LTE)

If you mean the lockscreen lag its there. 2-3 seconds delay. No fix yet.
About the homescreen lag is there but if you use nova launcher you will get rid of it.
Sent from my SM-P605 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I have the SD800 version on MJ9 firmware. Homescreen lag was still present with the Touchwiz launcher. Nova Launcher is butter smooth.
The wake-up delay for the lockscreen is sporadic. Sometimes it starts up instantly, other times it takes a second or two.

i have the LTE with Snapdragon and it's very good but the most lags are the result from Android 4.3 it sucks!! I had the same problems on the S3 i9300 now i am on this device on Android 4.4 first with CM11 and now with Omnirom and i can tell you no lags anymore. 4.4 is faster with no stuck and lags. Can't wait to see the performance from 4.4 on the Note 10.1 2014 the lags will be past

[Q] About to make the swap from S3

Hi Guys,
As per my signitaure yes I am using an international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
Now I have been down with samsung since the first galaxy so I am a bit tired already of the same features..
, I know its a violation to mention other devices in this section
But coming friday, I will be swapping my phone with an quad core HTC One X but I have read this one dreadful article,
Wifi-Bug!!
Now, I was viewing a lot of reviews and now is more confused but I really wan't to have the first hand ideas from HOX users themselves..
So how does it compare to the S3 in terms of;
-Gaming,(I play Gameloft games like MC3,MC4, Wild Blood, NOVA 3, interested in Tegrazone games hence the interest to switch)
-Camera
-CM 10.1 Stability? (it sucks on the S3 btw)
-Staying on stock ROM 4.1.1+root is worthwhile for the timebeing? I am now becoming lazy of flashing roms LOL
-Build quality? Does the white one stain easily?
-Wifi Stability? (read that article regarding wifi issues with this particular handset)
Please please help me out guys with such dilemma before friday, thanks in advance!!
anyone could help a bretheren in thy dilemma?

Gaming is awesome! Even my Nexus 7 can't play as good as One X.
Camera is very good, but on CM it's worse than on Sense.
CM 10.1 is stable, working fine if you've got 1.12 H-BOOT or lower.
I'm stuck at ViperX, best ROM for this phone.
Build quality is way better than samsung, though I have the grey one. The screen scratches pretty easy if you've got sand in your pockets.
Wi-fi is fixed in newer models, if you'll get one from the store, then you'll be safe I think. Wi-Fi is much better on Sense.

Whoah thanks much!
I pretty much game only in my smartphones, I thought Nexus 7 was the same tegra 3 platform? oh well.
I read somewehre thath lowlight pictures are good with the HOX
CM10.1 needs parts like different kernels, etc? not a one time flash?
ViperX rom is based on 4.2.2?
Yeah that's one factor that attracted me to the one x its the build, would it get stained with jeans? Yeah I am in the Mid East, we have lotsa sand here.
Oh this phone was like used for about 6 months, still has wifi issues? signal drops or cuts off? in stock Rom you mean?
1. Quite good. Gets a little warm though and battery life will definitely be a problem.
2. Nice quality on Sense ROMs, but on AOSP, not so good.
3. Beta-3. Extremely stable whatsoever.
4. If you like stock. Most people don't.
5. Solid, if you get a device from a newer batch. Some of the earlier models had weird gaps, wifi problems etc.
6. Never had any issues.
Keep in mind, we don't have S-OFF so you need to flash kernels and recoveries using fastboot commands which is a pain in the ass.
If I was you, I would never exchange SIII to a hox though.
Guys anymore points I need to consider?

Nexus 7 has 1300 MHz, One X got 1500 MHz.
You don't need any special kernels with CM10.
ViperX is based on latest Sense build, Android 4.1.1 and Sense 4.5/4+.
I don't have any Wi-Fi issues after 8 months of usage, but the screen on my Desire Z looks better than the one on One X.
Also, there's a *thanks* button, so you don't need to write the whole word

1. that wouldn't be much of a problem, do you have gameloft games installed? I read somewhere it is laggy for HOX, true?
2. that's nice to know
3. Beta 3 you mean CM10.1 based on 4.2,2? wow if very stable!
4. Lazy to flash but yeah I am capable of doing so.
5. I wish this will be part of the newer batch.
6. Issues on? How about that 3 button menu icon that appears in apps, can it be disabled?
7. How are the headsets which is supplied? is it symmetrically wired of maybe the right earbud has shorter wiring than the left (that kind of headsets I don't like)
I thought there was already an S-off released for the HOX, I'm sure I have read it somehere here.
Was thinking of the HTC one X even before having an S3

hox scales the cpu depending on how many cores its using, 1.5 = 1 core, 1.3 = 2 cores, 1.2 = 4 cores anyway
hox has better camera, faster in benchmarks and looks better outside and n screen
s3 has removable battery, sd slot, 50 GB dropbox and that nice eye tracking app.

1. Nope not at the moment.
3. Yes, it is 4.2.2 and haven't found any problems or bugs.
6. WiFi issues. The on screen menu button menu can be disabled if you have a stock ROM higher or equal to android 4.0.4. All of the custom ROMs have the button disabled by default.
7. It's symmetrical.
S-OFF was released for the North American variant of One X, not our phone unfortunately.
Wanna swap phones with me?
I have this 2 devices. One x white and gs3 white.....
I prefer the gs3 over one x..
Why?
Better GPS, camera is really better than hox. Video Call over 3g, better runing games without lag. The wifi connection is better and sound have a big diference, makes hox looks soo poor

[Q] Downside to 4G LTE?

Noob here who has decided on Samsung note 10.1 for my first tablet ... but which one? Looking for fastest performance and longevity. Does the added mobility of 4G degrade performance during WiFi operation? ... are there disadvantages other than related costs?
tx in advance!
I will advice the 4G version because it have the Snap800 like processor and have the 4G that is better and faster like 3G.
Finally, the Snap800 will have more support from dev then the 3G with the Exynos by Sammy
The trade-off will be reduced battery life most likely if traveling in weak LTE areas.
I'm leaning towards SD800, especially after what I saw in the picture
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
Thank you for your replies. Looks like only the 4G version has the faster SnapDragon800. Ok that's settled.
Between32 and64, will the 64 remain faster as the memory folk
fills up or is it all the same in respect to performance?
Tx for answering my dumb questions!

I wouldn't say that the sd is faster just yet, there are no real benchmarks out there just yet for the new octo core 5420, based on the few cryptic leaks they seem to think that the new octo might be a tiny bit faster. Im not going to jump to any conclusions just yet, I would preffer the sd800 on my device if only for the cyanogenmod support
Will you be able to use this device as a phone? As in does it have a dialer that you can use with a regular SIM like the old one?
I'm getting the one with the Snapdragon processor in it.
Sammy promised that they will include HMP (Heterogeneous Multi Processing) in their 5xxx processors . Ie; they will make s4,note3 and note 10.1 to real octa core processors through a software upgrade (say kernel upgrade)...so guess , which will have higher performance , sd or exynos? ? ? ?
And also exynos version will have wolfson audio DAC in it , so exynos defeats sd in audio performance

I would welcome an LTE model on Verizon except it will be limited to 16GB of storage and I just won't accept that. You need 32GB or higher internal storage for apps not medial content that is what the microsd is for.

Whoa..that's completely unacceptable (I'm Verizon). Agree on 32 min. Where can I find spex on Verizon's version?
The spec sheet Mashari_F posted helps differentiate among variants but I'm still not clear.
I'll likely have to wait until later in Nov. for my own good ... see how users are feeling about SD VS. OCTA and see what Verizon puts out vs. Wifi.
Tx!
16GB should be fine, I have tons of apps and games installed on my 16GB old note 10
and still have 4-5GB left, if you are planning on installing huge games like nova 3 (I think it takes up 2.2GB) then you might want to consider the 32GB instead
if you root and have a nice size microsd handy, you really wont have to worry about it
So, if you want the best CPU, you have to buy the version with a cell radio in it? That's kinda dorky, since I can just tether to my phone. But I guess if I want the best CPU I gotta buy the 4G (that I won't use).

Yes, sure.
Because Snap800 support LTE.
And Snap800 version will be better then Exynos
See the S4, the S600 have more support that Exynos Octa...
We dont know which is more powerful yet, this is the new octa core, not the old one
Wait for benchmarks from the new one to see

lol, benchmarks...
I won't see bench, because they don't have a lot of sense.
Snap800 will be supportated because devs know the architecture and they always have the source code...
Isn't the same for the Exynos...
It's like S3 for the Cyano
So, ATM, Snap > Exynos

Samsung released the kernel source for the Exynos version a few days ago (sammobile.com/2013/09/20/samsung-releases-kernel-source-for-galaxy-note-10-1-2014-edition). I'm not very familiar with all the lingo, so please enlighten me: Is this not (all) the source code that devs need to do their thing?
Can someone explain why someone buys an expensive note 10.1 only to install cyanogenmod and lose all the exclusive features? (Spen, multiwindow, ir blaster, and some other things)
Just buy a nexus 10 or wait for the new one if you are going to do that

The big problem there isn't the source code, this was an older problem, but the structure of the partition and the core.
If a dev will build a kernel, the source are here.
But, trust me, snap have a source code more easy, it's quadcore, and we know all about this.

Info before buying note 10.1 2014

Hi everybody!
For many years I've been looking for a decent tablet with advanced stylus features to use at work. I am a researcher so I need something to take notes while I'm working and a way to read and take notes on scientific books and papers.
It seems the Gnote 10.1 2014 could fit my needs, but I'd like to ask a couple of questions before buying it.
1) Are there any actual difference between the exynos and the snapdragon versions, apart from the problems regarding Samsung not releasing exynos sources in future?
2) Is there any reason why the development of custom roms is still practically absent?
3) Is the international version regionally locked?
4) How can be compared the experience with the S-pen when using custom roms? I'm planning to use mainly of apps which are not directly related to samsung (papyrus, lecturenotes, repligo reader) so in future it could be interesting to flash a custom rom on the tablet. Will the S-Pen keep working properly?
5) Is there any reason why you would discourage me from buying it?
Thank you all guys!

I will try to answer many questions.
1) Sure there is a difference between the exynos and snapdragon. The snapdragon (2.3) is faster than the exynos version which is 1.9. Also the snapdragon supports 4G while the exynos supports 3G. There is sometimes lag when using the tab (exynos) while there is no reported lag with the snapdragon version.
2) The development of custom roms is poor for this device, but there are some custom roms for the p-605 (4G-Snapdragon version), while there is few for the exynos version. I don`t know why!!!
3) I don`t know.
4) S-Pen is working perfectly with custom rom and/or root. I`m using many applications dedicated for the S-Pen after rooting my device (p-601/3G/exynos) like S-pen Gesture, GMD Gesture, Stylus Pen Beta,....etc.
5) You can take a look at the new devices Note 12.2 Pro, it comes with Kitkat 4.4, Magazine UX, and improved performance than the Note 2014 edition.

There is no difference between the exynos and snapdragon.....I used both of them and the exynos has better graphics but the snapdragon has better frame rate. .......also the exynos better in using battery while the snapdragon charges faster....
By the way.......the lag is software problem so it is on both of them

So you can confirm me that the tablet suffers of performance lags?
I was asking regarding the exynos vs snap because, as an earlier SGSIII user, I'm pretty aware of the development difficulties arising from the decision of Samsung to not release sources for the exynos platform. Hence, I wouldn't like to buy a tablet which won't be supported properly by the community due to commercial strategies.

That's a bit strong. You'll see random millisecond stutters in transitions and in opening and closing apps. There's an indexing service that supports S Finder that periodically refreshes itself and can take a while on devices that have a lot of PDFs and/or handwritten notes. When there's not a lot going on in the background there's little or no lag. At least on my device.

[Q] Note 10.0 2014 Visible Digitizer Matrix

Hello everyone. I have been reading forums on this website for a long time and I must say there is tons of useful information over here. So thought I should become a member too.
Recently I Bought Note 10.1 2014 Edition LTE version. I was expecting it to be much better that its really is. The display is nice but there is lag on this Tablet. It stutters during web browsing. I have a note 3 also which is much smoother although it has 1.9 Ghz Exynos processor as compared to 2.3 Ghz on this tablet. Anyways I have read on net that may be its because it has double the amount of pixels on display as compared to note 3 therefore it has some amount of lag.
Ok my main question to you guys who already own this tablet. In reflection of light I can see the Digitizer Matrix all along the display. its a bit annoying looks like faint sctraches on the screen. I have used many android devices but never experienced anything like it before. while looking as it directly with no light reflection it is not visible at all but even in faintest light reflection is starts to become visible even with the display on
So is it normal or a defect?
Help would be highly appreciated.

Have you used a device with an inductive display before? It puts out an electromagnetic signal which detects the presence of the pen. That's why the display looks different. I've been using mine since November and have never noticed the grid in everyday use. As for lag it pretty much went away with the 4.4 update. If you're already on 4.4 and the display grid is going to bother you return the device while you still can.

I am still on 4.3 coz 4.4 is not available in my region yet. Lets hope once the update is made available in my region, lag will reduce.
The gaming performance however, is better than on note 3.

4.4 is rolling out painfully slow. What region are you in and what model number N10.1-14 do you have? Chances are you can safely download and install a compatible region's ROM without changing the status of your device or tripping KNOX.

You can download the HK 4.4 ROM here.
http://samsung-updates.com/details/30043/Galaxy_Note_10.1_2014_LTE/SM-P605/TGY/P605ZSUCNF1.html
Many people on the forum are using ROMs from other (but compatible) regions because 4.4 hasn't been rolled out to their specific region yet. I'm using a Panamanian ROM on a SM-P601 from Trinidad. They work fine. There can be some oddity (I still have lock screen widgets which I shouldn't and don't have Daynote when I should) but everything else works as designed.
If you've never installed a non-standard ROM on your device do a Google search on "Odin." It'll link you to s/w you need to download and provide you with instructions. I can answer any questions you might have. There's little risk and it doesn't affect your device's status (it stays "official") or KNOX. For me, 4.4 was like getting a new tablet.
Yes I am sure 4.4 solves many issues. I will try the above instructions today. thanks a lot and best regards.

Hi due to political instability in my country, my office is off nowadays and I finally got some time to update my software.
I installed P605XXUCNF2 version which is from NEE region. At first I was not sure but then the lag and stutter in my tablet forced me to go for it.
Downloaded from this link

Like you said Barry its literally like having a new tablet. The lag is gone and overall it has become really smooth.
Thank you for your advice without which I would never have found the solution.
God bless you bro.

[/B]
So is it normal or a defect?
Help would be highly appreciated.

i just thought i'd pitch in, theres a setting in chrome you can change to eliminate that lag - it just doesnt allocate enough ram for the resolution its rendered at by default.
Wow another thread about lag..I have had this tab since Dec 2013 ..Never had lag, no issues ever... I have a life, so I don't sit and stare at the tablet all day and pick at it. It's Android . And Sammy it will have some issues...There are quick easy fixes for the mysterious lag people are complaining about. This is the best tab out for this year..The Tab S is the same tab minus the pen..it only has a better screen ..but that could be debated as well.

The amoled display will considerably increase battery life and will have better contrast. Its a huge improvement.
Other specs of tab s is same as note 10.1 as far as I know.

Snapdragon and Exynos

guys, i was looking for a new device and came to note 4, but isee there 2 versions Snapdragon and Exynos
these benchmarks are old and since we are like nearly a year further since release in my country witch should i get of the 2
most ppl voted for the Exynos ver on this forum but i dont go read like 200+ posts,
what i want to do wit hthe device
gaming,
watching anime 10bit h264 / h265 mkv/flac
custom firmware something like archidroid witch i used on s3
help me out abit , the on paper reviews dont say everything its more about true phone power, stability, laggless, ofc speed to
as far as ive seen reviews , snapdragon is best in gpu depending stuff while Exynos does the multi process/task stuff but those revies are from 2014 dunno if anything has changed with the firmwares and so
Either one is okay. Depends on your carrier I would assume.
carries is kpn, but they are simlock free , kpn 4g with speed of 225Mbit for data, but that wasnt my question , i wanted to know witch is beter for feature , Snapdragon or Exynos both have cons and ups
snapdragon
more energy save
faster gpu
cons
slower load time eventhough it is 2.7ghz quad core
Exynos
faster multitask
faster loading aps
cons
faster battery drain
slower gpu
so i want ot make the right choice
Be careful my bro got the s6 with exynos, we rooted it and went looking for new roms but only found 2 and there isn't likely to be more because of the exynos

Sprint only offers the snapdragon version.
I would try the main Note 4 forum.

i see, thx for the warning but s6 is difrent from note right ?, the s6 is problematic bcus the edge ?
from what i have readed most ppl on xda voted for exynos on the poll yet no customs , i realy liked the customs like archidroid, it was fast , smooth, easy to use and install/setup and i was hoping there is one for the note 4 to but for me its a kind of difficult choice , so snapdragon has more custom roms faster gpu but its slower in performance and not 64bit ready, and the exynos is faster , slower gpu and less custom roms
the note4 is a difficult choice for me atm it seems

it was not directed at this version only, im from eu and i dont know what version i will get so im asking users how and what so i dont take the wrong turn, the version here probaly would be an internantional version like the s3 i had and i dont know what version the note 4 will be that i get, also have no clue how to spot what version is in box
While I am no expert on the difference between domestic and international phones for the US, from what I understand you will want to stick with exynos. The snapdragons are specific to the networks in the US. Will and do they work internationally? Yes. However, I believe you will run into issues with data with snapdragon phones internationally. I may be wrong on this so anyone can feel free to correct me but from what I understand, a note 4 with exynos will be better suited to the carriers internationally.
This is a US carrier section so many of us are not up on this info since we fairly rarely run into this. The general section for the note 4 will have more of an international following I believe.

I understand it wasn't directed at this varient alone. But you won't get many responses to a request for comparisons when almost no one has an exynos here. That's why I provided a link to the forums where there are many people from both sides available to ask.

If they do, it isn't through Sprint.

i know i am partial to the snapdragon versions in all cases, the snapdragons include the available hardware for the fm radios, and even if the fm radio app is not included, u can use nextradio or even the spirit fm radio app from here at xda... and the snapdragons have always been easier to root/unlock booloader, etc., if u ask me... and the snapdragons just seem cooler to me, in a vibe sort of way...
