Hi there, im new there and i've a problem.
I've a sm-t210 galaxy tab 7inc, and i had a original rom that was really slow. I've installed TWRP 2.6.3.0, then i rooted it, all working good, and then i tried to install rockettab rom like in the instructions (full wipe and flashed the rom) all without any error but when I rebooted it didn't worked, it hanged on "samsung galaxy tab 3", i retried all that 2/3 timed and the same problem... At that time i decided to try crash rom and i've installed that and it worked, then I decided that i want a bootanimation and I tried to install one manually (moving bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ and/or /data/local/, i tried the 3 ways and tried with changed permissions ) then I tried with the Rom Tollbox Pro lots of times and nothing, I always see the samsung logo -.-, it changes the font and all the stuff, i verifyed the settings and the bootanimations are enabled, supersu is working good so i don't know the problem -.- . Another problem was that the crash rom doesn't have the portuguese language and as my family uses the tablet and don't understand english i tried with lots of programs and I can't install the language permanenty so I restored my backup again to the original room but rooted and now I want to install a bootanimation and tryed all that I tried on the Crash rom but I always see the samsung logo -.- anyone can help me fixing this problem with the bootanimation?
I'm Portuguese so I'm sorry about bad English.
P.s.: I noted that when I was on the crash rom the model changed to sm-t210R, that's normal?

The solution for your bootproblem is flash the alternativ kernel from the rockettab lite thread.
You will find it at the post #2
List of alternative kernelsRocketTab2.1_MOD_T210R_MK1_Kernel.zip*(latest T210R MK1 kernel, works on T210 as well,*RECOMMENDED*for all T210R users and users with an old bootloader, who experience a blank screen while booting)

Okeydokey. I installed a custom ROM ( VillainRom3.0 ) last night, and it has messed up a few things :/. Most apps randomly blank out and crash instantly - wifi doesn't work, phone freezes.
I'm rather new, and most of this stuff does confuse me; anyone able to post simple step by step of how to get a suitable kernal for VillainRom3.0 ?
EDIT: It also removed CWM and Superuser from the App menu :/

I was running villain rom with the standard chainfire kernel that most start with and that was stable - I must say though I wasn't too impressed with it - recently installed Westcrip's Resurrection ICS remix and boy am I happy I did! - if you want villain though just search for a compatible rom using the last letters from your baseband version - that normally does the trick! Good luck
I've found an old backup laying around, and got to installing that, so VillainRom is no longer on their. I'm back to a rooted firmware and that's it.
BUT: Now my computer ( nor any other ) recognises when It's pluggedin via USB :/.
I have this issue flashing some newer roms lately, not sure what it is.
To get back to a stock rom/rooted rom use the methods listed under the dev section of your phone that are the initial root direction using odin or something similar.

Hi,
I tried to root (first time) my S3 using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
My S3 is the international version: GT-I9300.
I followed all the steps, except for one bit. In the prompts, I could not find the exact version of my S3. The guide said to use the closest one so I did. My build is JRO03C UBDLJ1 but I used number 9 (see guide photo 2). All went well until my phone won't reboot anymore. Odin and the root application says that everything is fine, except my S3 is stuck at the boot screen (Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 with black screen). I can still get into Download or Recovery modes. How do I fix this?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
My thoughts
If you backed up your phone software I would return it to it's original setup first and make sure everything is ok with boot up etc
There may be an issue with the software that you have downloaded (wrong version or just not compiled properly) ....so try another rom or another version of the rom that you are trying to install
I have had this happen (stuck on boot) and another rom has fixed it
I use clockworkmod to install, restore and backup (not everyone likes this but so far I have had no worries)
Hope this helps

Well intially, I was just trying to root. Didn't intend to install any ROM. Since it was pretty much a brand new phone (no personal data), I thought there was no need to backup. So no, I don't have a backup unfortunately

Also, Check out the International Galaxy Thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1563
This one (post was in unless kenny moved) is for the US version.
OK I managed to get this thing back working finally. What I did was flash it back to a stock ROM. I couldn't find my original version but close enough, except this version, 4.1.1 doesn't seem to be available (but thats not a big deal).
Now I'm too scared to try root it again lol...
And thanks for all the suggestions!!!
My Answer
Hi onevivip
Before I started installing roms ,I did as much research as possible ....read forum sites etc ...looking at the pros and cons of installing the software
I also read if there are any bugs etc in the rom that may cause any problems ...I save the info to my computer so I can refer to it later if I need to
If you do your homework first this will eliminate a lot of problems ......also check what to do if you think you have bricked your phone
Hope this helps
Hello All,
First time post and as an offering, I will say 'thanks' to anyone that responds in a positive manner to my post (trying to win some friends)
Here's my issue, I have an Arc S LT18i.
Unlocked bootloader and rooted.
Whenever I flash anything custom the touch screen fails to respond, i've flashed LupusV7, slim bean 3.1 and 3.2 (with arc fusion 3.6 and 4.5) and Super Jelly Bean. All seemingly start without any issues and the physical buttons work no problem. BUT the screen refuses to work in anyway at all!!
I have made sure I wiped the system, cache and delvak (sp?)
Any help greatly appreciated, I am a NOOB but underneath it all I'm just trying to make the most of this wonderful Arc S...
Anything you want to know, please ask away...
Please help.
Namaste
Ricky:fingers-crossed:

Hello and thank you for the reply...
I flashed stock ICS .587 (world india) from this site talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239
Does that count as stock ICS .587?
And then followed the rest of the instructions, the exact same thing happens... buttons work but the touch screen does not!?
Any other ideas please? Or does anyone else have a suggestion?
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to me.

Hello, thanks for the reply...
According to the Slim Bean page, I can use ANY kernel with that rom. But also, if I just have the Lupusv7 Kernel on there, the touch screen doesn't work within that, so not a ROM/Kernel conflict I belive.
I've also tried other Kernel/ROM combinations, same thing keeps on happening. Touchscreen works 100% with a SE restore, stock ROM.
Any other ideas please??

It's best to use the recommended kernel as stated on the ROM thread. Try another kernel and see how things go.

Hello,
As previously mentioned, the reccomended kernel is Lupusv7, When i flash this Kernel into recovery mode, all looks well but as it has a touch screen interface this still doesn't work!
I'm presuming that it cannot be a conflict as it's happen before I instll the new ROM etc... the touch screen doesn't even work within the GUI of the Lupusv7 kernel.
I can get multiple ROMS to load with different kernels but so far, none have booted with the touch screen working!!
I am very much a noob but have read loads of articles on how this should be done, unless i'm missing something very obvious which isn't stated then I dont see anyone else having this issue.
Any clues people? :good:
Thanks, Ricky

Hello Someguyfromhell,
I haven't used AROMA, the guides i've been reading haven't mentioned this!?
This is the process I went through:
flashed stock ICS ROM
flashed kernel
wipe data/cache/davlik
flashed rom
rebooted, ROM loads up and the touch screen doesn't work.
Any help you can give me on AROMA, links etc?
I'm looking right now, but a 'leg up' would be great.
Thanks for the reply.
Ricky
here what to do
- Make sure you had installed Official 4.0.4 ftf pack
- When flashing official ftf pack remember to exclude / tick these things:
1. simlock.ta (Exclude TA)
2. Kernel.sin (Exclude kernel)
3. FOTA (Exclude FOTA)
After flash successful, power on your phone and let it start completely
- Now you can start to install any ROM
1.Flash the Recommended Kernel: Vengeance , KTG Anzu , RUSH
2. Place ROM on SD card
3. Power off the phone and boot into CWM
3. Backup and restore > choose Backup
4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5. Mounts and storage > Format /system
6. Advanced > Wipe battery stats
7. Install zip from SD card > Choose the rom
8. if rom uses aroma Follow on screen instructions on AROMA, remember to choose "Unlocked bootloader" and also the correct kernel modules and of course the correct phone model
9. After complete installation tick "Reboot" and let the phone restart
10. Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy ur phone !

Then did you install the device-specific patch?
ok man, you've got the same problem like me
First thing, all roms that make your touch screen doesn't work will based on cm (e.g. cm10, slim, any jb).
and ALL STOCK roms will get no problem.
There's lot of people here got this problem and still has no clue why this problem occure to ours, so sad story.
Someone says that the touch screen firmware sould be updated to the lastest version, but i don't know how.
One solution that i found is, remove the battery to turn off then turn it on to reboot again and again. If you lucky enough, the touch screen will work like a miracle!
and the success rate is also <50% ( based on my experience only)

on all the ROM guides, I have never seen a part where it says i should install a device specific patch, do you have a link to where these may be?
Or even a ROM with guide where it says this? I'm very happy to follow that to get this working. I have no preference to CM10, Slim Bean, Racing Bean etc... as of yet i've not been able to use any of them.
Thanks for the continued response.

This solution is the one that i think it can move some files which related to touch screen.

However, as i mentioned above; you can get ALL jb rom working :fingers-crossed:
But depends on your luck. Just turn it off when the touch screen didn't response, then turn it on again (and again) untill it work.
I hoped that the new linux kernel will solve this...

I have same issue have tried many stock based roms and kernels no problem but any CM based rom I have no touchscreen.
You can reboot and about 1 in 5 times it will work
Maybe it only affects certain versions of the phone. I even tried re-locking bootloader and doing official sony update then tried CM again I tried 7.1,9 and 10
same problem.

So, here is where I am. Using advice from previous replies I have managed to install Xperia Ultimate HD and this is working off of the Lupus kernel without any issues. I'm still unable to get ANY Jelly Bean roms working...

Reflash the rom and get it working properly, then if or when you decide to delete apps instead
of deleting them, rename the app extender from .APK to AP_ just in case something does not
work properly so you will have a backup next time.
Then instead of deleting or renaming many apps all at once, do only 1 or 2 at a time then check
the phone out for a couple days to be sure that everything is working properly.
Many of the samsung touchwiz apps depend on more than just a simple apk that's why S voice
stopped working for you.
If you are on the original stock rom you will need to Odin flash it unless you are interested in
flashing a custom pre-rooted rom using cwm or twrp recovery.
If you decide to flash a custom rom, give the Wicked v7 a try, it's a excellent full feature custom
rom which is already debloated so you would not need to delete or rename any files.
Good luck!

just read your post and want to say thank you, i have the same problem and many posts suggest chaton / other apps caused this (although i installed them again from play store) , only 1 has been working for me , but when i reboot it return to give the message the OP has described.
(any idea why , i'm curious samsung does some kind of validation on root on restart ??)
so i consider maybe reflashing the stock rom but maybe another - but i really don't have any experience with this and i'm afraid to brick it.
so long story short (with lots of questions) why to take v7 and not 10
thanks again

Unfortunately there is no Wicked rom for the i9500 international Galaxy S4.
But there will be a custom Wicked rom for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 later on today here in xda for the Tmobile people.
If you want to flash an excellent full featured custom rom for your i9500 give Omega v14.1 custom rom a try.
Here is the link for the Omega custom rom for the i9500 Galaxy S4 phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232887
thanks for the info.
maybe you can explain why after restart the s voice is not working but if i reinstall it - it works just fine .(i described above)
i'm very curious to know why
thanks again
Hello! This is my first post on xda as I have usually been able to find a resolution in one of the already asked questions but I might have just played with my note 2 not knowing what I was really doing a little bit too much.
So I'll try and say everything I've done to make it easier to help me.
I bought the phone and I was happy using GoLauncher and stuff but then stumbled upon rooting and custom roms and being able to get new rom releases that aren't out on the N7100 yet.
So this was all good and well flashing ProBam, Cyanongen Mod, Cerberus, Dr Ketans Rom... and when I had finished having my fun.. I flashed a stock rom and went back to using that, however, the other night I flashed Philz Touch 5 and tried to flash a custom rom that I had downloaded previously. ( Well I tried to flash about 5) These were Echoe rom, Hurricaine rom, Dr Ketans rom, Official stock rom and I can't remember the other.
However, all of these roms came up with the '(Bad) Installation aborted' message on cwm, so now through whatever I've done (i think i flashed original root "CFAutoRoot" through odin' I don't have cwm anymore but i CAN access the system menu, download mode and as far as getting on to the actual phone goes, it get's stuck on the 'SAMSUNG GALAXY Note II GT-N7100' screen, and I read a thread (poet) saying that you may have to wait 20 minutes and not be impatient, so I left the phone for 7 hours (to no luck). I am really stressing out and I cannot find a fix to this!
I am currently trying to extract AP_N7100XXUEM16_CP_N7100XXEM16_CSC_N7100XAEM16_BY_WVAZ_DINK.zip with password 'wagnervaz' and it just keeps getting stuck whilst extracting so...
anyhoo I REALLY NEED HELP
I've tried so much and please don't tell me to 'wipe cache, factory reset/wipe data' cause that just doesn't work I've done it about 1 million times and I honestly don't even know what state my phone is in right now, it probably looks like the containment field from beyond two souls inside.
I hope to hear from one of you very clever guys soon, and thank you so much in advance!:good:
