Boot into PhilZ Touch recovery, select PhilZ Settings - Re-root System - back and then reboot. Install SuperSU from Play Store, run it and then update su binary, done!

Can someone give me the link to go from 4.3.1 to 4.4??

I'm running Dirty Unicorn 4.3.1 and MK4 and want to root to 4.4 kit kat and load some new roms.
I have tried just wiping and flashing, but I get no data unless i'm on wifi.
Is there a step by step to get the update?? I also read about some knox crap also. Don't know what that is.
Please advise.......
Thanks in advance

Well if you read most of the 4.4 rom threads you will see you need to use cwm recovery or philz recovery. Since you are using twrp you wont get data to work without going through a few hoops.

I did download rom manager and Philz. I just wasn't sure how to get them to override TWRP. Do I just flash Philz??
Thanks so much for chiming in. I've been rooted for several years, but this update flew right by me.
Keep talking......
Yeah just flash it through ROM manager then reboot into recovery. If it is not philz recovery (although it should be) then you can just flash it in recovery.

I downloaded rom manager, but it doesn't seem to override TWRP. I also tried to flash Philz (which I preferred), but I could only try to flash it with TWRP, and of course, it failed.
Do I need to freeze TWRP in Titanium backup ???
Please re-download Philz and verify md5 then flash in twrp. After flashing in twrp reboot the recovery within twrp and boom! you have Philz!

Like you, I could not get TWRP to leave my device (no matter what I tried). Only thing that finally worked was this flasher utility to get CWM:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools
Granted I didn't try to Odin PhilZ or CWM but that was about the only thing left I hadn't tried.
I had twrp for a recovery. When I installed DU 4.4.2, I downloaded cwm 6.0.4.3 because I guess twrp and 4.4 roms don't play nice. I actually downloaded the cwm recovery, saved it on my external sd, and booted into twrp recovery, flashed the recovery file for cwm, and it rebooted. I boot back into recovery with cwm on board, and then downloaded whatever 4.4 roms and gapps package that was necessary. It works fine for me.

Cannot Root. Need help!

I installed the KK ROM wit the TOT method and then rooted the phone and installed the CWM recovery as an apk. Now when I go into SU, it says I am not rooted. I tried 2 methods to root but unsuccessful. It boots into CWM recovery and then nothing. Do I need to reinstall the OS with the TOT method again? Any ideas?

This method works perfectly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51480568&postcount=1
After root, use this to get the correct recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52945705&postcount=1
Once the phone boots into the UI, use Freegee to install the latest recovery.

flash the hacked twrp. that gets me out of cwm bootloop.
Same problem here phone was rooted and then installed CWM and for some reason lost root. Its not a CWM bootloop.
When the root step requires "Apply Update from ADB" I cannot because CWM doesn't have that option.

I got bad news bro. I had to re TOT the phone and start from scratch. There is a CWM 6.0.4.4 floating around causing this issue. The phone loses root but it constantly boots into CWM when trying to root.
ROOT achieved, now need recovery!
OK, so I had to re TOT and get the phone back to factory state with 4.4. Then I was able to root successfully and now I am wondering how and which recovery to use. Could someone please post a link to Philz recovery and can I flash it with the same root toll with ADB sideload? THanks.
Ok I figured out how to get root back on my phone! Yay!
Run the same F240 root tool as usual, it will reboot phone into CWM recovery but you can't choose "apply update from ADB" so instead pick INSTALL ZIP, then choose INSTALL ZIP FROM SIDELOAD. Press any key on computer to load root files then at next step in CWM choose GO BACK, then choose REBOOT SYSTEM NOW. At next step in CWM will ask "Rom may flash stock recovery on boot. F1 This can not be undone." here I choose NO. Phone will reboot and root is restored. I think before I was scared and chose YES on this step and that's what lost my root.
Root Check Basic and SuperSU both show I am rooted and back to okay.

I used that CWM 6.0.4.4 recovery to install a custom recovery only. Once it flashes the recovery, reboot the phone. Answer No to the disclaimer in recovery and let the phone boot into kitkat. Then I used Freegee to install it's latest version of CWM. Ignore the warning if you get one in Freegee. It will install the newer recovery.

You'll loose root if you answer "Yes" to the disclaimer CWM throws when you try to reboot. Just answer "No" and you won't loose root.

Can you be bit more specific on how did you download the 6.0.4.7 from freegee. As i see only install option available only in freegee but not download so that it can be installed from 6.0.4.4..

When I opened Freegee, it presented the option to install 6.0.4.7. It wasn't a stand alone version but part of Freegee.

Hi guys, thanks for that, i can confirm this solution works on P601 running kitkat
- installed TWRP 2.6.3.3 tar via Odin (heard the 2.7 could bug on this device)
- boot in TWRP and install UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94 that i previously stored in my ext xd card
- straight after boot, updated super SU app via playstore
- open super SU app, accept binary update via twrp, let it do his job
- after automatic reboot, open superSU app, click no at question "do you want to disable Knox"
- reboot, do the same step but answer "yes"
Enjoy

device is unrooted after cm12.1 ROM installation

Hello guys
I havea problem after CyanogenMod 12.1 installation on i9082
Everything works fine but
I can't have root access, it seems that the device got unrooted after the ROM
I have tried to enable developer options
And I checked root access in the setting to Apps and ADB
but I still get unrooted messages when I try to open an application that requires root
Also I tried to flash supersu from CM recovery but the installation stops in the middle
I tried several different versions of supersu but still the same problem.

Install Twrp or other custom recovery, dissable update cm recovery first in dev option, then install supersu.

What do you mean? Did you installed twrp manager app? Not that app, you need to flash Twrp/cwm.zip file through cm recovery. Or find the cwm/twrp.tar file and flash by Odin.

check it under Grand Android Development thread, there are twrp and cwm in zip file, can be flash through recovery. Same thread with cm12.1 that you flashed.
Flash superuser zip.
Your Rom is Pre-Rooted But you need to flash latest Superuser.zip to gain Root accesses .

Try type this in dialer *#1234#* or *#*#1234#*#*. If any of 5hose doesn't work, visit supersu thread.
OK I tried these lines but nothing happened can you give me link to supersu thread?
cm12 has root disabled by default. Activate it from developer options.
Or you can flash supersu

Ok thanks, sorry to bother you, but should I flash the ROM again via Aroma or I should just flash SuperSu?
Just flash SuperSU. That should do it
Flashed SuperSU and got stuck in a bootloop, did a clean flash again and it worked, thanks a lot!
And now this, f*ck, maybe it could be because I restored backed up data partition, will try to do a clean flash and let you know.
I had this issue yesterday and fixed it today.
try deleting the su binary in twrp.
goto: /data/system/xbin
delete su
flash your SuperSU.zip again.
worked for me, because i had an systemless supersu installed, but an old su file in xbin.
