Hi, I recently bought a tmobile note 3 from a guy in craigslist and worked perfectly until about a week a go. The microphone stopped working, when in a call people can't hear me unless I switch to speaker. I bought the new charging port / microphone, installed it and the problem persist. I took it to a cell phone repair shop and they also change the same board with no luck. Now the store tech told me the previous owner change the whole screen assembly with one from att and had to slightly modified it /grind it in order to fit. Also the sticker behind the battery is gone since they replaced the screen assembly. I called samsung and they said my phone is under warranty and they send me a label to ship it for repair. My question is do you think the warranty will apply? The phone has no water damage. Thanks
Rooted? If so you is ****ed

Anyone?
i believe that warranty will be voided simpley because the device has been cracked open. add the fact that the screen has been replaced with a different version and labels are missing it screams warranty denied.
it sounds like you'll need to get it fixed somewhere else. might be the case where Samsung will offer to fix it for you but you'll be responsible for all repair charges
The device has been physically modified, doubt it would be covered under warranty.

No.
Well I recently did a warranty exchange because my phone stopped charging. I got the replacement and sent back the defective one. The phone was rooted, with wicked rom installed, and knox at 0x1. Got a message last week that they received it.

It's been physically modified/tampered with.
You can send it to them but they will charge full price for the replacement after evaluation. They are very specific about condition. Water indicators, dis-assembly, physical damage, etc. WILL be grounds for warranty dismissal and full charge for replacement handset.
Nah my phone doesn't have a scratch or anything around it no damage no water damage to s4 just rooted my mine was 0x30 or something...
Would you know the price for screen repair not digitizer

Will i have to flash back to stock before i take my phone in to get my charger port fixed?

I would recommend it because if the sales rep sees its rooted they can deny insurance. You probably will just get a new phone anyway so you would have to root it again.
You are both wrong. If you are going through insurance, just call Asurion. No need to take it into the store, as Sprint doesn't deal with insurance, they will just give you the number for Asurion.
And rooting doesn't void your insurance, it voids the warranty. Two different things.
If he takes the item to the sprint store, they will give him a whole new phone. I have done it before as long as you have insurance. I also I believe its been covered on the forums before that sprint could deny if its rooted.
Well actually the charger port would be covered under warranty wouldnt it br, because its a defect with the phone itself.

I got my replacement today from Sprint. Went in originally with my phone being rooted. It failed two of four connectivity tests(not sure what it is called, I forgot, but they think the antenna is bad), got my phone ordered no problem.

It depends. I believe if the charger port contacts are still intact to the main board, it will be replaced under warranty. If the contacts are broken off, then it needs to be an insurance claim. Or maybe it's the other way around, I'm not sure which way it is.

Asurion is the insurance company. If you pay Sprint 8 bucks a month for TEP, then you are covered under Asurion. If you ever break/lose/shatter screen on your phone, you would call Asurion and pay the deductible to get a replacement. Taking it to a sprint store it useless, as they don't deal with insurance claims, and they will just tell you to call Asurion.
my phone still charges but I have to play with the cord and the only charger that will work is the one that came with my phone, no other ones like the lg chargers or even the one from my moment will work.I even tried one from my buddys evo and it wouldn't work. Weird. I've read that it's a common problem with the Evo so if anything this would be the place for all my answers. Thanks guys.
Just recently purchased a galaxy s2 and rooted it. Went through process of flashing a rom ([email protected]!!%[email protected]%@) was actually in the i900 forums. So now that I have a brick first one ever, who has done what with theirs?
Sent my brick in to for warranty repair to samsung, received on thursday 1/19. Currently in the "repair status". Will it be repaired without charge? From reading other forums with same sitatuation I have read that it will most likely be repaired under warranty. Any input is helpful! thanks

was it exchanged through tmobile or samsung?
Tmobile does the exchange for you as a service to their customers. The actual warranty is through Samsung. To answer your question should you have it exchanged No because flashing the ROM voids the warranty however will they? Probably.
well, only send it in if the phone doesn't turn on at all, if it turns on to even a boot screen or anything I wouldn't recommend warranty exchange. it was done through Tmobile over the phone .

Bought it off Craigslist , plus I'm not with tmobile. It doesn't power up or anything , not to worried about it just curious to as what others have done
okay, called samsung customer service today to get an update on the phone!
It has been repaired !!UNDER WARRANTY!! current status is its waiting for a shipping label to be printed. Should receive the phone by thursday or friday most likely. Not 100% sure as to what they "repaired" customer service rep somewhat vague on what was done. So hopefully more info once it arrives in the next few days!
my IMEI is under warranty but i bought it off craigslist. do they require proof of purchase?
how did you initiate a warranty repair? i would like to send mine in.
are the numbers below what i should use? or is there a better way to do this.
SAMSUNG
Phone Number: (201) 229-4000
Technical Support: (800) 726-7864 [1-800-SAMSUNG] [PRESS 2]
Heeeeeeey same thing happened to me. Trust me on this. I did the same thing: flashed a MIUI Rom for an i900. Bricked it and I was like "say whaaaaaaaaa?". So I called Samsung, told them I had turned the phone off, pulled out the battery, inserted my SD Card/SIM Card (whichever you prefer), and turned it back on but nothing. Ten they'll ask you to plug it in with and without the battery and just go along with it. Tell them nothing is responsive and blah blah blah. IF THEY ASK IF ITS ROOTED SAY NO!!!! They can't check it because the ROM counter got reset. They replaced my motherboard. Sure it'll take about two weeks but it'll be back.
Here is a screenie with proof. http://i44.tinypic.com/2rpw40x.png
So yeah just call em. If you need anything, feel free to PM me .
Think mine was same as yours, should arrive thursday or friday.
I love my EVO 4G, but recently it has started to detect an occasional phantom touch in the top of the screen (maybe 2/5 the way down from the top, in a band the size/position of the volume down button). When I run Touch Test (by moonblink) I can clearly see a second, occasionally third, point of contact active in that zone. Needless to say, this is impacting my ability to use the device.
Do I need a new screen digitizer (like this) or do I need some other part. The device is from the original launch, so its well past warranty consideration.
i have used those to replace broken screens and they worked fine.
I'm looking for a reliable vendor to buy a digitizer also. I've been scouring Amazon and the reviews seems kind of mixed.
That makes two of us, idk if I have to replace both or just the screen?
I use to work for Sprint as a technician and a sales rep. If u have the t.e.p. insurance you can have them get you a refurbished phone or replace the screen. You must goto a sprint store with repair center. Only down fall is you might get a phone that's not rooted or they will tell you no. But since its not a physical damage, insurance should cover it. Worth a shot.

I actually ordered three off of Amazon last Thursday. They arrived Monday and I installed one on my phone today. Tested the screen for dead spots and everything seems ok so far. It to me about 2 hours bcuz I was being extra careful. I have to do my daughters also and I can probably do it in under an hour.

brother i think its an acident so it means you have void your warranty..
but there is a hope you can go to your nearest service centre and repair it as it will cost you half the amount compared to the 3rd party store.
because they give concession to their customers..

You cant claim warranty in this case as it is a case of accident,
the warranty is only covered when there is a software issue apart from any physical damage...
it means now, that when they will come to know that you have dropped it in water or water spilled accidentally on your device then your warranty is void and you will have to pay for any repair.
But before going to the service center make sure your device is notROOTED or else they will refuse to operate your device..
AS I SAID THEY WILL CHARGE YOU HALF THE AMOUNT COST OUTSIDE SERVICE CENTER SO MY ADVICE IS TO GO TO SERVICE CENTER AND GET IT REPAIRED
ALL THE BEST

I haven't given it for repair.I enquired and they say both screen and board got damaged and repairing would cost around 2000 bucks!
Hi, I'm new here. A few weeks ago my s6 fell out of my pocket and both of the screens completely shattered, now I got enough money to send it in. I rooted the phone with the pingpong root and I was just wondering if they'll still repair the phone? It said it doesn't trip Knox so like an idiot I rooted it thinking I'd never break the phone cause it's never happened to me.
You should be able to unroot once you go to download mode. Once you use Odin and unroot there would be no trace and you'd get back to official.

T-Mobile will still know it was rooted, doesn't matter if you returned it back to complete stock, if knox was tripped it will show it in the history and they will not warranty the phone. Your situation is different though, your phone has physical damage not covered under the warranty so reporting a claim is different, Assurant will process the claim since it's damaged and provide a replacement, mine was $175 when the phone was stolen.

Not necessarily. Reading the OP, he used PingPongRoot, which on 5.0.2, did not trip the Knox counter. If the OP froze the correct apps and/or denied them root access, theoretically T-Mobile won't know - granted he's able to restore the phone back to factory defaults (completely), using Odin or SmartSwitch.
But, in terms of dropping the phone and shattering screen/glass, you are correct in that this sort of damage is not covered by anny warranty - only forms of insurance. There'll likely be a deductible.
And, well, if it's an insurance claim, the root/no-root point is moot. Yes, rooting phone voids warranty, but so does dropping it.

So even if its rooted and i have insurance they'll fix it cause the problem wasn't caused by rooting?
