Hey guys any of you use pandora? If so do you use the widget? I had plenty of android devices prior to the g2 (eris, droid 1, cliq, nexus one, hd2 on android) and all of them had the widget to put on one of the home screens. With the g2 however I cannot find it!? I did send an email to the dev but I wanted to see if any of you can see the widget.
Thanks for your help.

It's because you have Pandora installed to your SD card. For the widget to appear you have to have it installed on the phone. You can't just move it to the phone from the SD card. You need to uninstall it then reinstall it so it installs onto the phone for the ability to see the widget.
That did the trick thanks!

I realize that this is a completely useless response, but the Panodra widget shows up on my G2 in the exact same manner as it did on my G1. Long press, widgets and scroll down and hit the Pandora icon and there it is..... Wish I could help more, but that's all I got.
EDIT.... good God I'm slow.... and now it's making me wait 5 minutes to add this edit....
My Pandora sounded like crap so I un-installed it. I like Slacker better anyways...lol
I agree Pandora does sound like crap especially compared to last.fm but last.fm won't play an entire song without skipping to the next! What's the deal with that?
Seems you guys pandora sounds bad but I play it through earbuds and I can't complain. Maybe I'm deaf.

Pandora sounding bad is an issue with Android 2.2 Froyo and the AAC+ audio.. will hopefully be fixed in a future OTA.
Info here:
http://blog.pandora.com/faq/contents/10002.html
Also make sure you go to pandora preferences and set the audio quality to high. Its on low by default.
I started a thread like this on the other Sub-Forum for the G2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8596795#post8596795
I e-mailed both HTC and Pandora and all they do is point fingers at each other.
I really hope a fix is in the works. I'm gonna email HTC again and let them now what the Pandora rep told me by e-mail.

Slacker is way better than Pandora. Just saying. Try it!
What's your single most favourite feature of the Galaxy Nexus or Ice Cream Sandwich?
Mine has to be Face Unlock. It works brilliantly and it doesn't seem to be fooled by pictures of me which is great!
I only have one issue with it being that sometimes I get a message stating "Couldn't find your face" but then when I turn the screen off and back on Face Unlock immediately unlocks the phone after identifying me. Has anyone else had this minor issue?
Hardware acceleration. Finally. And the bigger screen without a humongous phone attached to it.

I just wanted to add that I have noticed this EXACT behavior. It does not happen all the time, but often enough to notice. The lighting is good and my face is clear, but I get "Couldn't find your face" message. Without moving the phone or changing the angle I just turn the screen off and then back on... and it instantly unlocks.
I can't be certain, but I think it has something to do with the phone being dormant for a while... when I come back to the phone I see this issue, but if I am using it often then it does not happen as much. I'm wondering if it has to do with a memory issue or something. Perhaps the Face Unlock feature is not actively in memory and it takes some time... and then just times out the first time.
There's a subtle feature that I read about in the user guide for the GNex, and it's one that I really like - When you are connected to a WiFI network, ICS will monitor your signal and reliability. If the network you are on is very unreliable or has a very poor signal, the phone will disconnect from it in order to use your 3G/4G signal instead.
When I leave work, this used to be a problem, as my HTC Incredible would hang on to the poor WiFi signal from the building, and I'd have to turn WiFi off in order to do anything network related. Now, the phone disconnects from the WiFi long before I even have to think about there being a problem.

Having a settings shortcut in the notification bar.
Runner up would be the goofy effects in the camera. Great way to pass time.
Screen and design.
Being able to swipe away notifications individually, as sometimes I like to keep reminders in the notification bar if I'm running late on a task, but don't need other stuff like the market update notifier.

I love the whole swipe to delete in general. I love the usability of ICS. Everything is so crisp fast and intuitive.
Scrolling. That's it. Being able to scroll, flick, etc. without having to guess what the phone is actually doing after an input is paramount. That was my biggest issue with gingerbread and I'm glad they've tweaked it in ICS.
i also like the animation from vertical to horizontal and vice versa, very matrix like

+1 this.
However I love the redesigned core apps. Messaging, People, Dialer, etc. These look clean, perform so efficiently, and make using 3rd party apps a stupid thing to do.
Oh! And the ability to increase font size universally in the settings. My grandpa is jealous of this.

Everything else is more or less the same. I like the settings quick shortcut in the drop down menu also. Feels good in hand too.

I like the improvements to the browser, Gmail, and Email apps.

Hi first thread sorry if its bad, im not sure if possible but im looking for a way to get cyanogenmod but i dont want to lose the features like smart stay, pop up play, sbeam, nfc, or the motions features. I use nova launcher and dont really care for touchwiz. I used cyanogenmod on my evo for years and got the galaxy s3, i want cyanogenmod back but i dont want to lose those features. Is there another rom that is basically the same but has the features? or is there a way to add the features to cyanogen through a kernel or add on? I could live without some of the features but that was partly why i got the gs3 instead of the evo lte. I would appreciate any help, app replacments, or even just a rom recommendation thats runs like cyanogen(battery life, speed, smoothness, possibly ctr animation, customization, google now) but has the gs3 features.

Hate to say it but its one or the other. There are smart stay apps in the store as well as pop up players, nfc is in CM and you'll lose all the motion features.

There's an app called Super Video that is actually more powerful than the popup player with stock.
Some of the motion tasks may be possible with an app like Tasker.
okay so i found the smart stay app and the video app and tasker, is there a way to get android beam i believe its called to run instead of sbeam?

Just remember that Android Beam (at least the version for this phone) is less powerful than S-Beam. You can't send things like MP3s or photos, only links, contact cards, etc.

On a similar note, by losing the motion settings on the CM 10.1 nightly 28th June 2013 on Galaxy S3 International,
I am unable to calibrate the gyroscope etc and hence my Navigation (google) is suffering. Can that be fixed?
Also I am having issues in sending contacts via sms. My family members have old phones which only accept sms no VCF etc. No net. Its painful copying each and every contact detail into a text jumping back and forth.
If not, can you please guide me to a suggestions/complaints section for CM devs so that they may help me out?
You're in the wrong device forum, this is for Sprint only.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.
I'm running Vanilla Rootbox 4.0 ROM, but this has bugged me with other ROMs for quite some time. I guess when 4.1 or 4.2 came out, Android started making audio controls on lockscreen available. That's wonderful for people that want them, but I HATE them. I've searched off and on for months to find out how to turn them off and all I ever find is people saying how glad they are to have them. No one seems to want to disable them completely, as I do. Can anyone please help me? I want the lock screen to look exactly the same no matter what apps are running on my phone.
What music player are you using (I'm assuming stock?) I honestly haven't seen a way on how to remove the stock controls except by using another music player. I use PowerAmp and I never get the lockscreen controls.
Hope it helps

ANYTHING that plays sound does it. The stock music player, Pandora, Slacker Radio. Heck, even Mort Player (audiobooks) shows the controls when it's running.

Hmmm that's odd.
And you've looked thru all the settings in both apps and ROM settings right?
It might be hidden in there somewhere.
I'm on AoCP and I never get the controls

Boy I sure would be happy if it were that simple and I was just blind, but I'm not seeing it anywhere. Closest thing I can see is in the AOKP settings (Rootbox is an AOKP and CM hybrid) for the lockscreen where it lists an option to control music volume with the volume keys from the lockscreen. This setting doesn't affect the widget though.
Thanks for the suggestions though!
I've been reading a bit about AoCP and I may just have to give it a run. I hate wiping my device and spending a whole day setting everything back up, but this issue is really irritating me and it seems like lots of people are very happy with AoCP.

Just use Tinanium Backup to make a flash able zip of all your apps or use the app alone to back up apps and data so that next time you flash it just takes you 3 minutes to set up everything

I've tried that and had it fail horribly on me in the past. The only time I've been able to restore backups made with TB has been when restoring to the same version ROM. A couple times I made a backup, flashed a completely different ROM, went to restore and was unable to. So I just don't even trust it anymore when it comes to flashing ROMs.
Question though since you're obviously knowledgeable about AoCP and I'm too much of a n00b to post in the AoCP thread. The thread says:
AoCP_I747_CP5.6 -dev host link
This is 3.4 kernel base and it is very stable
AoCP_I747_5.6-kernel -dev host link
Just so I'm clear here, do I need to install the top link AND THEN install the kernel link as well? I haven't messed with any ROMs where a separate kernel download was given, so I just want to be sure I don't cause more issues for myself.
Just download the ROM and gapps (which you should have if you've ran any 4.2.2 ROMs )
No extra steps or anything
5.6 should be the release right now.
There is more goodies coming really soon
But the dev.host link should be it

Thanks jayRokk. I got AoCP installed without issue. Not a bad ROM, though I prefer Rootbox better. Too many extras I've gotten used to, I guess. The bigger issue, however, is that I had the same issue with AoCP. The stock music app did not show any controls on the lock screen, but everything else did. I did a complete wipe before flashing and cleared davlik both before and after flashing, so I'm positive it's not some weird setting I have somewhere that's managed to carry over from ROM to ROM.

Widget locker disables the notification bar when locked.... you do have to buy it though... I tried it and does work.

I don't want to disable the notification bar thou. I don't even want to disable all lock screen widgets just the music controls. I love dashclock. That's what I want of my default lock screen. If the music controls could even be moved to a second lock screen like the camera that would be awesome. I guess I should say I'm on CM. I have no idea how touchwiz handles these things.

Exactly this. While I certainly appreciate the responses from everyone trying to help, the idea of spending $3.00 on a 3rd party app just to fix what, IMO, is a pretty major oversight (just give me a setting in a menu to enable/disable it) is a very hard pill to swallow. I currently use Lockscreen Policy to disable the camera and all secondary widget screens. I've emailed the developer to see if they could add the ability to disable the music controls as well, but haven't heard anything back. ALL I want on my lock screen is time, date, battery and next alarm, which the stock locker and dashclock give me. If only I could disable the $%^#@ audio controls!
My galaxy nexus from verizon was just upgraded from and I ahve a HUGE extended battery on it and love to use it for Audible and Music. Even GPS if needed. Is there a rom that will make it no longer a phone and just what I need it for? Even if its an old version of android that could mean it would be faster.. Thanks for any help.

1. Questions doesn't belong to general section
2. Just use android on it and google play music or whatever musc application as THERE IS NO music playback operation system for nexus.....
