Kindle Fire 2 THE END - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Hey, i wanna say thank you to all of you. This was not the biggest dev community on XDA but magical things happened and happen(e.g. Android 4.4) here. But now it's time to look forward to new things. I recently got problems with my wifi connection and now i sold my kindle fire 2.
Stay awesome... :highfive:

[Q] Don't kill me for this question please!

I don't own this phone, but I'm considering it. I have not read through the forums at all. With that said, here's my question: Is anyone working on cyanogenmod 7 for this phone? If so, links? If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it
I don't think CM7 will be available for this phone anytime. hopefully there well be a version of CM9 in a few months based off of ICS. I could be wrong though
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
It'll prob be a couple months, the ICS source code being available sooner than expected helps, and I believe one of the devs on the CM team just got an epic touch to work on, but these things take time. I'd say its gonna be a few months.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
CM-AOSP-MIUI are all being worked on. Right now it seems ICS has all the attention, there is close to a 2k bounty for a stable ICS rom, ICS=AOSP=CM, there you have it

lol there's one in every crowd. The phone is an incredible piece of hardware, no doubt. If I had my choice though I would have gone with the International or ATT version. Not to downplay any of our dedicated and super talented devs but there are simply far more devs working on the other versions. More dev support means more toys and tweaks to play with.
I KILL YOU!!!!! sent from my fav puppet Achmed :-D lol sry i had too
but I did see a rather large post of a dev from CM getting the phone, I wouldn't expect anything till the new year, maybe by Christmas if lucky.

I love xda thank you so much guys !

I've been here for a short while, best way to to show love is to hit the donate button, and just saying thank you also works.

Food For thought! Rom's Rom's Rom's

Starting Off, I just wanted to thank everyone again for getting me the T989, I love this Phone & I love everyone at xda for it as well!!!
Now, I can't help but laugh because when I first got this device I seen a ton of posts *****ing about the Rom selection...
We now have:
ICS CM9 Alpha
ICS TW
GB TW
GB CM7
MIUI/CM7 GB ( Coming today )
The Dev, has really picked up as of lately on this device & I can't be more happier than I am now
This thread is mostly pointless, but still I wanted to say thanks to everyone again!
Thank you!!!
~Eugene
I must say, y'all need to thank your skyrocket brothers, for without them you would have nothing
Lock for being pointless.
JK! I must say development has picked up and I've seen much less flame fests and useless posts than I used to.
You have been a huge contributor and without your help we wouldn't have half those roms! Thank you!
I gotta say Eugene, I'm pregnant. Don't you dare deny our son his parent! I forgive you.

Though I thank them, it is a bit of a stretch to say we would have nothing. If anything, we just wouldn't have ICS yet.
Very true!
Pretty happy with this device's development now
Good stuff,
Eugene, you're welcome to hop on the wagon with the rest of the team for CM9. I know you have some stuff rattling around up in your head about some issues we have on our tracker
I'm gonna be mad at you if MIUI ruins my finals week.
But really, it's awesome we have so many great devs on this device
without eugene, we would only have touchwiz roms.
hats off to him

Yeah the development is coming along nicely now. All the people who jumped ship for the nexus will be regretting it, very soon. This phone is the best phone I've had hands down, even the stock rom was quite usable. (Which in my experience, is rare.) I also love the fact that everyone is working together now, it's great, everybody wins.
Its nice to see some all these great roms. The hard part is choosing one.

Eh. While I'll miss Eugene's (along with other dev's) ROMs I'm not regretting the switch so far, especially once the next android update/version comes around
Thank you four breathing life into our community. The money we spent getting you a phone was MORE than worth it.

Ubuntu for tablets

This may be a stupid question which has a simple answer (no). But I thought I'd ask anyway.
When the ubuntu for tablets comes out on Thursday, will it be possible for Kindle Fire 2 users to flash it just like how cyanogenmod is flashed (TWRP) or the method described here? - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install
I'm guessing not, but worth a try.
Feel free to use this for discussion.
Edit: Turns out Ubuntu mobile is utilising some of cyanogenmod's code - https://plus.google.com/u/0/115049428938715274412/posts/cYtVT2pb9ZT
Well of course we would need to get the kernel integrated into it but yeah i think we could get it to work. I think it'd be amazing

I think the dual boot might be an issue as you would run out of space on the device. Must agree that Ubuntu tablet looks very cool and makes JB look slightly dated =-O

Looks like it will be possible after all. I'm quite excited to see what happens, please post updates here if you hear of any. I'd like to trial this ASAP.
Actually, I came to this forum after taking a long break from modding specifically to see if anyone had taken a look at the tablet version of Ubuntu along with the Ubuntu phone code released a few days ago. I'm in the process of setting up a machine as my modding environment right now so I can poke around a bit with both as soon as I manage to locate a copy of the tablet os.

Holy crap. This is VERY possible. Canonical uses CM10 as their base for Android, so in theory any dual core device capable of running CM10 can run Ubuntu Touch Preview without much trouble. Tomorrow night, I'll give it a try and see if I can build it using their instructions and your CM-based rom (which is what I am already running on my KF2 anyway)

Nice, can't wait to see the results. Don't even care if it's sluggish and nothing works, still pure awesomeness.
Not to be rude....but this IS the development section, and you asked a question
I legitimately believed that you were posting "Ubuntu for tablets" and not a question about it.
I'm not mad at you, like any other wrong post I wouldn't comment on, this just REALLY got my hopes up then I was just like "oh, I guess I'll wait then "
Can't wait to see it soon thought hopefully. Looks like it will be fairly easy to do.

I actually did notice the box 'are you asking a question' but I felt it sort of needed to be posted here anyways since people who'd normally frequent this part of the forums may not venture into the Q&A section and I wanted their input.

Axiom

Where is the most awesome rom axiom.? I searched everywhere but cant find the fastest smoothest rom available at this moment. I read somewhere it has to do with competition which has the, most downloads and got banned because axiom is the best! This cant be happening on xda??? I know this wil not stay long here because what i heard there are moderators around who create own roms and when there is a rom better then their they block it? Come on guys, is this what we want with xda ? Let everybody decide for,his own which rom to choose!!
Hope in the future every dev is welcome here

Not you specifically but the fanboys are included in this. Some people feel the need to push their favorite rom on people and if they disagree they get bashed like it's some religious cult. It's strange to me. Everyone (myself included sometimes) needs to step back and realize it's a phone. It's the internet, people are going to be douchey. If you can't handle that and ignore it maybe it's not the place for you. If so, move along quietly.

I too am happy that the community is here for us to use their work been around a while I learned that some are allowed here and others aren't it's not a free society by any means and moderation sometime is politics in disguise-still the best forum to display your work to the masses though
Idk what happened for sure but, if even half of the rumor is correct, someone needs an ass beating for being a douchebag.
Now ill probably get banned for saying that but, oh well...

AH Hell it is what it is now there is one less thread for us all to gather in and enjoy together something new and exciting back to those that proclaim to be the best evers that Xda will allow us to view, the powerbrokers have spoken so be it-for me I enjoy mostly the builds to flash and the people who do it for fun and those who help others along the way
I was there. DT changed the OP with an insulting title against xda and xda rules.
