If you wipe system its not there anymore, i did not get a bricked tab from doing that
so no it will not brick the tab only wipe everything on it, it will boot in to bootloop after you do that
so flash a Rom and the your new firmware wil but up

It would be dangerous if cm11 bootload because wipe system would delete recovery and in this case the phone would damaged
because after flashing any rom i have to flash recovery again which mean that wipe system would delete recovery

My friend, Recovery is not stored on System. Only the rom and it's base files are on System partition.
The Safe Method to install CM 11 is:
Flash Clockworkmod Recovery using Nokia X Toolkit.
Then boot into recovery.
Make Backup by going into Backup And Restore --> Backup.
Wipe System.
Wipe Data.
Wipe Cache.
Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Flash ROM.
Flash G-Apps.
Reboot.
The recovery will still be there after you flashed the ROM.

Your welcome. You can hit Thanks on the post next time.
So I wanted to go to Lollipop and I happened to flash the twrp recovery for new layout(as i was getting boot loop when flashing the rom with cwm recovery)
The things i tried until now.
1. Installed twrp and formatted it to get the new layout. Wiped everything, system, cache, data, dalvik cache
2. It was supporting MTP so i transferred the roms to the device being in recovery. Installed CM 12 + gapps for lollipop.
3. Rebooted to bootloader again. flashed boot.img, and did fastboot erase cache.
4. Rebooted again and stuck at CM boot logo.
I wiped the cache, dalvik cache(actually did a factory reset in the twrp recovery) and tried installing Resurrection Remix. Again flashed the relevant boot.img too. But the same result..
Did i destroy my phone?

Yes I can enter recovery. But again I just cant get any lollipop ROM's working. I dont know whether i have to restore to kitkat(i really dont want too..
I dont get it.. Wipe dalvik cache, cache, data and then disable mtp and then enable mtp.. I mean at the end what does this do?
And in the meanwhile did you mean HTC Sync Manager for device manager. FYI I use a mac(if this helps to get into the problem). And i had flashed kitkat roms from the same without a hiccup but lollipop is failing

its hard to explain with recovery you can mount ur sdcard and put another room and install ,the easy way its to start from the begin and install clear CM12 and you will get out from bootloop that help me i was in bootloop like 3920489208420984920 times hahaha

Have you solve the bootloop issue? I am having the same problem on my International One X
thanks
Probably both of you encountered the same problem as me.
If you are S-on, you have to flash rom and kernel separately. Also, if you try to revert any changes with twrp you have to flash kernel you were using during creation of backup, and then restore backup.
In other words: your current kernel is incompatible with rom.
Mwys
Yes i am S-ON. Can you tell me what the steps are to flash the kernel? I do not have a backup.
What is did was flash New Layout TWRP, did a complete wipe, then copied the ROM and G-Apps zips to the phone, installed them and then flashed boot.img.
Thanks for the help
Yup I also tried the same. but no luck. I tried to revert back to kitkat(by installing cwm, format the storage, sideloaded the ROM and gapps, flashed the boot.img) and still again in bootloop.
Sorry for the delay. I was a lot too busy with work.
Hey guys I'm running dn4 v2 on my mobile galaxy note 2, and whenever I wipe data in clockworkmod recovery it powers off and reboots.... everything else works, flashing ROMs, wiping cache and dalvik cache, but wiping data restarts the phone back into recovery. I ttried flashing TWRP but that recovery results in a boot loop, in which I had to flash CWM again from Odin..... I really do not know how to fix this, the ROM I'm running works so bad , and I really can't flash other roms without being able to wipe data......
search for Zoot's Super Wipe script and flash it with CWM, to get full wipe. Maybe it'll work
Try wiping with TWRP.

TWRP bootlooping for him
My bad. What version of TWRP is looping?
all versions had been looped
I have a Mi 9 se and i don't understand how the partitions work on this device (coming from mi 5) If i wipe system or cache or formate data from recovery after first flashing twrp it reboots into fastboot and i need to do a full rom flash again via mi flash tool. Can someone please explain to me what the go is?
Ok so after more attempts. Obviously you need to let it boot the rom before flashing twrp, but wiping system causes twrp not to boot still, can someone explain? thanks.
Thanks
System is where android is installed. If you wipe this it can't boot into android because it's not there so it boots into twrp instead. What are you trying to do?

I do realise that but wiping system shouldn't be an issue as the new rom will install the system right? The issue is that wiping system causes it to reboot to fastboot not recovery and i can't get into recovery again without reflashing the rom from mi flash and installing twrp again.

That is odd, you can can flash the rom without wiping system though I think as the rom will overwrite system anyway

Does it matter if system isn't wiped when moving between a MIUI based rom and an AOSP based rom?
@morgs640, it does: wipe is necessary. Some install-scripts contain a 'wipe system', otherwise you've to do it.
I am using mi mix 2 (chiron). I tried flashing oxygen os GSI (erfanGSI) (A only) through TWRP (latest version). While doing a system reboot after flashing it went into fastboot mode. When I tried to flash a custom rom after booting into recovery and wiping data, it boots into recovery but not into system. So, kinda stuck in recovery.. Any solution guys? Thanks in advance.
Are you just wiping data or "format" data too? Always do "clean install" Wipe dalvik, cache, data, then format your data. It may very helpful when you're going to another rom and minimalize any error behaviour.
