Care to share what you did to fix it?
This post is kinda pointless if you don't share what happened.
I say this only because mine is doing the same thing.
Sorry bout that, I'm not really sure. Just after a whole day of trying to get into recovery by holding the volume up, home and power I tried waiting till phone said booting recovery then I let go of all buttons and it worked. The day before I was continuing to hold all three after it said booting recovery.

Just get back into recovery and flash a different ROM. I had that happen a few times, it's just a bad flash. If the other ROM boots fine, it might have been a bad download.

Odin back to stock and start over if worst comes to worse. Don't worry this seems alot worse than it really is.

I have been a lurker in the forum for a while and now i regret not posting. I am stuck in a bootloop and there is NOTHING in the thread to help :/ can anyone help its a SCH-T989
What caused it? ie. Flashing a Rom, rebooting... Have you tried pulling battery? Details my friend.. details.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
see this is the tricky part. I have had it for a week and in the middle of answering a text it shut down and now it is stuck like this. nothing out of the ordinary.
Try pulling the battery for like 5 to 10 min, put back in and try getting into recovery. If you can't get into recovery try download mode and Odining back to stock, or stock rooted.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
nothing still. cant even get into download mode. all it does is vibrate.
Have you tried Booting into recovery or download mode? If you can get into your recovery try fixing permissions and reboot. .. or odin if you can get into download mode.. Where is your freezing or looping? boot animation?!
edit: did not see your post above, if you can't get into download mode you might as well try and get a refurb from Telus
Well...thank you anyways. My worst fear :/ i hope they will fix/replace.
Try a different usb port on your computer. Also for recovery try pull battery out hold vol up, down and power reinsert battery

So this is kind of a unique issue i'm having. I have the I-747 on AT&T and flashed AOKP rom (it was taking too long to get JB). It worked for about 3 days and then got stuck in the android boot screen (used the rom feature to get rid of the pink unicorns). after that, I booted into recovery and reset my phone, and it worked again for a few more days, then it wouldnt boot again (I dont believe I changed any settings between the boots). After this time, it wouldnt let me boot into recovery and would only boot to the android start screen and stop. I used odin to flash the stock rom, which only took me to the 2nd samsung boot screen and stopped (after the AT&T splash shows up). I looked online and saw someone say try CF-root using odin, tried that and it didnt help. Then tried using a custom kernel siyah s3, and now it will only show the initial samsung splash screen before turning off again. Any suggestions here? I figured I'd stop researching since i dont want to really mess up my phone worse than it already is

I have a similar issue, someone please help
Your main issue now is that you flashed siyah. We don't have one. If you can get to download mode, you will want to flash back to stock.

Thanks guys! So I used odin to flash the stock boot loader and stock rom, but it is still hanging up on the 2nd samsung screen like it initially did (the one after the AT&T boot animation). Any other ideas on what could be the cause?
How long is the hang? Sure is just not the 1st initial boot of the new rom?

The first boot can take as long as 5 minutes sometimes. So, if you haven't waited that long, then try out some patience. Otherwise, try booting into recovery (stock now) and factory reset.

bump!
I have this same issue. I have restored to stock rom and it does the Samsung boot, then AT&T, then it goes to Samsung pulsating with a blue pulsating LED.
I have left it in that mode for at least 15 minutes and it never boots.
I can still get into download mode.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Has anyone tried booting into recovery after flashing the stock ROM and wiping caches then rebooting?

I let it run for 2 hours (left the house came back and i was still on. And phone wont boot into recovery at all ( i tried many times, but it just boots normally and skips recovery until it gets to the 2nd samsung screen, then stops there).
I dont know if this is relevant, but while the phone is off and plugged in, i can still see the battery meter and the Green LED (so i'm guessing it's still working, it just wont boot)

I went into recovery many times before, I'm definitely hitting the buttons right but it still wont go into recovery, it just tries booting like normal. I can go into download mode easily, but that's it.
jbizz, did you start getting this error after flashing AOKP rom also? trying to figure out what could have caused the issue in the first place
I'm not really skilled on these things, but I once had a similar issue with my phone not booting and had to end up using Kies to emergency restore it. Odin wouldn't recognize my phone but kies would.
Although I think my issue with odin may be stemming from my computers usb ports...

I actually flashed a bad kernel and the phone wouldn't boot after that.
What is the proper way to boot into Stock Recovery?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Fixed it! What I did was go into Kies software and did a firmware upgrade instead of trying to flash from odin, then put it in download mode instead of recovery, but it still worked. Thanks for all the help, guys! guess it's time to move to a CM based rom?

Sure, I'm doing this largely from memory since I mostly figured it out by throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
Open Kies->tools->firmware upgrade and initialization->enter model name then serial number (they're behind the battery) -> put the phone in download mode and plug it in. it should take care of the rest.
Fair warning, this will fully wipe your phone, i lost all my pics (thank you google+'s instant upload or i'd be PISSED) and titanium backup (there goes my 3 stars on every level in angry birds and great scores in temple run), but at least you get a phone that can function as more than a paper weight, right?

Odion Back to the stock rom!
Can you boot into recovery?
Take battery out of phone then put it back in. At the same time hold the volume up button, home button and the power button, you should feel the phone vibrate and small blue text appear in the upper left side of the screen, let go of all buttons.
Tell me what appears, black background with blue text or grey background with blue text.

I would Odin the stock or root66 just to be safe. We have no clue what was actually done to the phone, so flashing back to stock is really the only way to avoid more potential problems.

I'm having a similar problem. I keep trying to odin back to stock but when its done and I restart it gets stuck on the Samsung logo. My lcd is also broken so the only way I can see what i'm doing is through mhl, making things are much harder to do
You'll have to factory reset. If you can't see the screen, boot to recovery and use adb shell to wipe the /data partition.
Unless someone else has a better idea.

Hi,
suddenly one morning my phone in continuously rebooting. it's alive for around 10 sec and then again reboots.
What all i tried:
1. Flashing custom recovery
--- flashing successful but after then when i goto custom recovery it goes to stock recovery. (Tried TWRP 2.5, and 2.7 also CWM recovery) same result with any recovery
I have flashed recvery various times but it ain't working this time
2. Tried flashing factory image
--got stuck while flashing system.img
tried twice, then pulled the cable and removed the battery and rebootted, still having same old android, seems erasing system and flashing system
never happened.
3. Tried hard reset from stock recovery
-- reset completed sucessfully
-nothing changed, everything same as before as if reset even didn't work.
Dunno whats wrong with this phone, Someone please help ????

You can try to lock the boot loader. If its unlocked on reboot you know for sure.. A replacement is not worth it unless you can find an extremely cheap mobo..
