[GSM x CDMA] S-OFF Assistance Thread - HTC One V

I created this for people who are confused on how to S-OFF, and would like some help. Just post and wait
Prerequisites for S-OFF:
Unlocked bootloader / Root
Insecure kernel (Any custom kernel)
Knowledge of fastboot and adb.
If you have troubles when using a Non-HTC Sense ROM, make a backup of your current ROM and flash a Sense ROM temporarily
Download links for S-OFF toolkit:
Windows Toolkit
Linux Toolkit
On Windows, open soju.exe
On Linux, be sure your extracted directory is in ~/Downloads, and open a terminal, cd to the rumrunner directory and do "sudo ./soju" (no quotations)
Be sure to thank beaups and the rumrunner team for getting us S-OFF
Again, don't be afraid to ask for help

Is it important to use a sense based rom??? Aospv based won't work???

Help me out..please...
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app

Not working on Ignorance, after rebooting fastboot mode (again) it gives FATAL and stopps by please press enter (chrm-kiss).
Same on Ignorance and TK kernel.
Same on full stock rooted rom with stock kernel.
S-ON persists.
Anyone tried a ROM that works OK for this?

I did it after using a RUU. Worked without issues

And, besides of flashing ROM zip with kernel inside trough recovery and getting rid of the red text, what are other advantages of having S-OFF HOV?

In theory changing CID is an advantage, and the possibility to reallocate partition table on the phone. Not an advantage today, but could mean thing in the future.

Okay have tried anything from RUU stock, myONEv, Ignorance (V4) with stock kernel, with titanium, with titanium-kiss and charm-kiss and nothing works. Could anyone tell a working config for this?

Yes, or use unused space there, and after reallocateing the partition table, bigger kernels could be flashed.

Ok guys so these are the steps i made to get S-OFF on my primoU.
I was using Shpongle (no halo version) untill last night, and in the post it said that it's best to have a SENSE rom, as close to stock as possible.
So i did the following things:
-Connected my phone to the PC, activated in phone ADB
- Relocked my bootloader, this is an essential and nonoptional step in order for the RUU to work. Make sure you have the "Unlock_code.bin" file needed to unlock your bootloader after the RUU is done
-Launched on PC "RUU_PRIMO_U_ICS_40A_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.22.707.2_Radio_20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.120_release_274703_signed" this is the RUU for CID: HTC_044. if you have this CID and need the RUU i can upload it on mediafire, it's quite hard to find nowadays.
-relocked bootloader using the "Unlock_code.bin"
-Flashed latest version of TWRP
-Flashed Super SU and booted rom, log on play store and allow super SU to upload itself and it's binaries to latest version.
check in Super SU for every request automatic response to "ALLOW". i had a couple of failed installs of soff because i missed the super SU request.
-reboot your phone in bootloader and flash a titanium kiss kernel. i used "boot-TK-USB-201305210014"
- now make sure there is no lock screen set on your phone (by default if you just used RUU it should not be) so no: pattern, pasword lockscreen. in addition i just set my phone never to sleep while connected to USB.
- launch the "soju.exe" with administrator rights (yes i am using windows at the moment)
- ????
-WIN

Yeah, but you don't need to relock everything  just take a sense rom and you are good to go
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app

Yes true, I did the RUU method because I was a bit scared I'll fail the installation, I thought, better safe than sorry

Try the Linux version on a Ubuntu Live CD/USB.
It should also work on Mac OS X, but I don't know how that works.

hm...i'm brainstorming here on what might be the cause of that fail...try this: go into super SU and set it to automaticaly accept root access requests. see if that helps in any way.
on the rumrunner website about that line of rows it tells:
ALL firewalls and internet security applications should be totally disabled. If you get stuck with rows and rows of dots during the connection test process, it’s network filtering or other network issue!

Okay, don't know what is the problem in my phone, tries anything suggested, still no luck...
Maybe I will try tomorrow at a different computer...

Ok now it works on i386 ubuntu, but no luck on windows and 64 bit ubuntu.

Surely this is a signed image though ? I am guessing the problem is that the previous posted needs to go through the "de-branding" procedure for his Bell Desire Z, so that he can flash a non-Bell DZ official ROM. Though of course turning s-off is an alternative.
Yes, but you need a gold card. A gold card will allow you to flash this to a Bell Z
If I run this zip file from the recovery, will it make my desire z go back to stock again??
I'm now running the stock rom Rooted and S-OFF.
And will I lose my root after this RUU rom?

Run this RUU ONLY if this was your original firmare (generic european)
IF that's your phone, this is official, You don't need root or S-OFF
This will restore absolutely everything to pristine, NEW condition (S-OFF and root will be gone too)
Thanks again.......it works!!

I noticed you posted in the Godspeed overclocking thread that 1.4GHz did not work for you.
I had the same thing.
I guess the 1.4GHz works for you after flashing this RUU ?
Or did you do anything else to get it going ?

HTC One X Walkthrough anyone?

First and foremost, please know that I have searched and searched again for hours and really have exhausted what in my opinion is my skill level for the rooting process. Previously hacked a PSP but that seemed easier than this.
I have tried the one click method and I have tried the HTCDev method. Both to no avail. I've run the .bat, I've tried the cmd cd Download cd OneXRoot... I couldn't get the One click .exe to run on my Windows XP even after installing .net framework. Can anyone help? I will divulge phone software versions, firmware etc if anyone decides to help me... And please only comment if you can specifically help... No trolls, no haters, no unconstructive comments.
Sorry for the noobism...
Thank you.

hi , try using this it should be what you need if you are going to flash custom rom's go to htc dev to unlock bootloader thats the first and foremost thing you need to do . Htcdev is just to unlock your bootloader and nothing else
http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
if i helped you say thanks =)
What issue are you currently having with 'HTCDev'? Did you successfully unlock the bootloader?
Try checking this post out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832891
Also, check this out, more specifically:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
Hope that helps
I promise you all those methods do not work. I tried to run the root.bat access denied. I tried the one where you open up cmd and type cd Download, access denied... Finally I tried One Click but the .exe wouldn't open due to wrong .net framework, which I then downloaded but I was told by XP was not able to install 4.0.3...
Obviously I am going to need a work around on this but like I say One Click is no good for me... I'm going to reply again with my phone's info... I'm guessing the cmd way will be best to eventually get to work for me...

have you got your unlocktoken.bin from HTC Dev? May be best to do it manually
---------- Post added at 08:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:17 PM ----------
have a careful read through this, this is the most complete guide for rooting manually, if you don't want to backup to start with you can go straight for unlocking your bootloader (after that to installing the recovery, then to installing the rom )

If I do this and unlock the downloader will it give me root too?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Hi mate, firstly u need to install the SDK etc,
Then you unlock your bootloader
Then you can install the custom recovery
Then you need to install the super user app (or SU etc) This will give your rom Root privileges (i.e you can install mods etc) This is not installing a custom rom
If you want to install a custom rom you can skip the step above as all custom roms have these root privileges.
Download your rom and stick it on your SD card
Make a backup through the custom recovery (you can revert back to stock if things go tits up)
Boot into fastboot and flash the boot.img via fastboot commands (or use a fastboot kit if one is supplied with the rom)
Go into recovery, flash your rom and reboot
The above is just summarizing whats on the guide I gave you so you should know what order you need to do things and where to look on the guide
If I do this and unlock the bootloader**** sorry predictive text!

Looks like the zip is signed incorrectly. If you know what I mean by an md5 sum, check it corresponds to the one the developer lists. If you don't know what I mean by an md5 sum, then try to download the ROM again and flash the new download. Which ROM is it by the way?

Slightly out of my depth here, but go to the thread demkantor posted a few posts up and read carefully, it will be very informative.
Also you appear to be using stock Android recovery, I'm not certain this is a problem but just to make sure I would find out how to use fastboot to flash clockworkmod recovery. Just Google "flash clockworkmod recovery fast boot" or something along those lines... If you already have android SDK set up, etc. Which I assume you must have being as you're rooted, it shouldn't be too difficult.
Sorry this is about as much as I can help, I'm sure demkantor will be able to help you through anything more than this.

THIS THREAD will teach you how to use fastboot to do
various things such as flash a new recovery. problem is you dont have a bootloader with fastboot
capabilities, well at least not many. do you know how the phone was rooted? if it was
done using the gfree method than you can simply flash one of the PC10IMG.zips from
post 30 in the thread linked above (done via bootloader) if not it could be an issue to use do this.
you can only flash update.zips through the recovery you have now and they more than likely would need to be signed by htc. if you dont have a working os right now then
you may need to flash an ruu (one that matches your phone) let me know where you stand on all this

Hei JMZ. What is the dif between RUU and just firmware flash. And what r the instructions fot RUu ing?
Sent from my HTC One VX using xda app-developers app
I need a tester. You need to be familiar with ADB and have this stockish rom flashed or my *NEW* JB rom.
Reboot to recovery and mount system
Push the unzipped file attached to /system/lib/modules/
reboot to system
As soon as it reboots out of recovery run the command "adb wait-for-device shell insmod /system/lib/modules/wp_mod.ko"
If it doesn't return an error then check if you can write to system and it sticks on a reboot.
I can't currently test as I'm not on this firmware right now. Worst that will happen is it wont work. 0 chance of anything breaking.
I am on vaca heading home tonight (18 hour drive). However, if no one tries before Sunday, I will then.
What's suppose to happen if it works...what's the point of this zip?
I tested this. I did not get an error on the script but I did not get anything back.
I used root explorer and created a new text file and I was able to delete said file. Is this what you are looking for or is there a better test?

It works great. It took some time because I had to find Win7 32 bit with direct internet connection (I'm on Win8 64 bit) but at the end it is S-OFF.
Thank you!
Now I have another problem. After S-OFF with this method I can not start Bluetooth. Tried with wiping data (factory reset) but no luck. It would be nice to have radio to download. Maybe that would help my situation.
For now I will try with different ROM.

A backup is always recommended anyway so you can flash whatever you want

you don't have to reflash the radio, just reflash a new rom (of course clean install)

Do I need S-OFF for custom ROM? After unlocking the bootloader I flashed stock rooted rom with custom twrp and now when phone starts it's in airplane mode and asks me to input decryption key. Wtf is that? I've never seen that on my other phones happen. Does S-OFF help here?
Thanks in advance.

Actually you don't really need s-off for cus-rom, except you want to tweak the device itself. For the problem recovery, I suggest to using cwm from developer '4m8' thread

I tried this on Windows XP- but i cannot run ADB and Fastboot
I tried it on Windows 8.1 too (installed drivers, there was "My HTC")- but when it turn phone in bootloader it says device cannot be recognized
I tried it on Windows 7 - It said that my device isnt't rooted (It is 100%) or I flashed unsupportable rom. I have flashed this one:
