(apologies if this is already posted, I didn't see anything similar on search.)
so one of the newer updates removed the option to skip the CC entry bit? and I really do not want to hand out my CC info to yet another company. (I've never even let Steam/Valve store it, which a couple years ago turned out to have been a very smart thing)
I read that some game stores in NA and UK will let you buy ouya codes and print you out a receipt with the number on it. sadly, not really any game stores near me much less ones that might possibly do that.
but I saw that amazon US has codes for 5 bucks and up, so that USD5.31 (thanks for the tax guys) easily got me past the CC screen. amazon CA also appears to sell them. however I don't see it on amazon DE JP or UK.
some info if you do consider buying it from amazon US:
- at the checkout, it told me "This item currently supports Mac OS X only" (tf?!)
- after I paid, it wanted me to download a "3K file" which turned out to be 1MB "OUYA_5_Digital_Token_Online_Game_Code_Downloader.exe"
("OSX only", huh? I'd worry more at this point if I *was* an Mac person)
- scanned the heck out of the file just to be safe.
- running the program phones home to amazon and eventually puts a couple HTML files on your desktop. 1 of the files has the key in it.
- typed the key into the waiting Redeem Code screen on the ouya, and all was well.
I've no idea what would happen if you were in another country and bought the key exe from amazon US. I worry that when it phones home it would know you are not in NA/US. unless you use a proxy?
Interesting.
Would one of the prepaid credit cards work? I have used the Wal-Mart one in the past for a subscription to a company I didn't really want having my regular CC info.
probably? I've seen more than a few threads on various forums with people reporting success with prepaid CC. I haven't tried it personally. I considered signing up for one thru my existing CC, but it still had monthly $1 fee and other stupid stuff, so the 5 bucks code was the best choice for me I guess.
I did try a lot of the valid "test" CC #s, which supposedly worked on Ouya in the past. but none of those worked for me.
you can use test cc numbers and just bypass entering a valid number completly. here is a link to a list of valid test credit card numbers pick one
http://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/vhelp/paypalmanager_help/credit_card_numbers.htm
Edit: I didnt see the dude tried these already I have 2 friends that used these test numbers in the past 2 months and it worked then so give it a try.
Here is a couple of them use any name
MasterCard
5555555555554444
MasterCard
5105105105105100
Visa
4111111111111111
Visa
4012888888881881
huckjam - to be fair, I only tried the test numbers on my ouya account webpage. I didn't try them on the actual ouya screen, which I should have. it's quite possible their CC validator is different between the web account page and the ouya screen?
prepaid credit cards work like a charm, i've used several that i had small balances left on to purchase games.

Offer good only in the 50 United States, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. You must purchase a new phone between November 2nd and December 31st 2011 to qualify
Thanks. I'll take $25 to go with the penny I spent on a Titan.
just says new phone nothing about second gen in terms and conditions so I bet if you never registered an existing wp7 device for some of the other eprize promos that were out you could probably redeem this as well even if you had an older device or if you grabbed a first gen device recently.

IMEI can tell a lot, which they ask for. You are probably correct that it does not have to be a 2nd gen device, but I doubt you could get by with any phone purchased outside of the promotion window.
On a side note, I bought my phone with one number but plan on using it for another, so which phone number would I use for the offer?
just went through the whole redemption thing, you can in fact use ANY wp so long as you have proof of purchase in the promo date range, you can also do 5 phones per address
This promotion is a pain. You have to enter a bunch of information and take pictures of your receipt and box. Then you finally finish and they tell you a card with a code on it will come in the mail if you're approved. They don't say when, so like mail in rebates, it will probably take two months. Wish they would just credit your account directly instead of snail mailing you a code to enter that credits your account lol.

Rebates are great.
Most people don't go through the work to actually cash in, so companies can afford to give more back with a rebate than they could by just discounting or in this case giving.
I've heard through pretty reliable marketing sources that only about 50% of rebates or less actually get filled out. So, the estimated cost to the company is only about $12.50 per device. So, if the rebate was automatic, that is what you would get or less.
By taking 2 months, they also can verify that you didn't just return your phone, since most carriers give you some time to try it
10 minutes of work. Get $25.00 in 2 months. Not too bad of a deal.
I think I still did better with my first gen Verizon HTC Trophy.
Verizon had a promo giving a free Xbox 360 game, I got Halo Reach (still going for $59.99 in the stores when I got it) and my phone had an issue, so I sent it back and got a new replacement. All they wanted was my ESN for a game. I also got Kinect Sports too(for the 2nd phone) $39.99 in the store at the time.
$25 or $100ish of 360 games...Hmmmm
I think I did all right... (by the way, My phone was an insurance replacement for my HTC TP2, my deductable was only $50)
They pretty much paid me to take the Trophy and No contract of any type.
Gota love it...
I got my confirmation from Citi that I'll receive my card in 7-10 days! I was concerned because the phone number I use with my phone (also the one I registered for the card with) is not the number I bought the phone with and is on the receipt.
Sent from my PI39100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Got my card in the mail today. Was a simple process and only took a week to get my card. I even totally forgot that it was headed my way, so I was surprised when I got an envelope from Windows Phone. lol
Why is it only US which gets all these offers??
So ive been having a lot of fun with my google wallet, but something is bothering me. Bestbuy stores have the NFC thing on the credit card machines but it does not work?
did best buy decide not to do them?
I spoke with a manager at one of the local best buy's here in southern california and she said they have had the machines for a year in the local stores (She couldn't confirm if it was nationwide) but they haven't activated them and last she heard they might do away with it all together.
when i google for bestbuy and nfc/contactless payment etc i dont really see anything about it.
why do they have the machines in their stores but not use them?
Thanks!
As far as i know, they haven't started using them ..yet
They backed out in hope of destroying nfc
Best buy, Wal-Mart and other retailers have teamed up to form MCX, which is basically some yet undefined payment method that they will offer. www.androidpolice.com/2012/08/15/ta...making-a-google-wallet-competitor-called-mcx/
As of sometime late last year, these retailers made it their policy to stop accepting Google wallet and NFC transactions in hope of killing it of before it gets to big.
Yea...i tried using google wallet at my local bestbuy here in Georgia and it basically says unidenfied payment....I gave the cashier a look of WTF? you sell the phones in your store but you won't except its technology....what a bunch of JERKS!!!
The NFC symbol on the card machines at the Best Buy stores is just for credit cards. I do know its a bit dated, but having worked at best buy for several years, I can tell you that my store has not received any new machines that are capable of it, and are just not using it. It's extremely frustrating (extra because I work in the mobile department) to not be able to use the tech in our own store.

Hi,
Just wanted to share a pretty neat new promo. I know We had this before, but it was $25 then. It is now $50! Before, $25 wasn't enough to convince me to do it, but this time around, I did it. It was much easier than I though (takes only a few mins to set it up and only 10-20 mins to receive $50). And, no, there's no hidden fee/charge, etc (the first thing I researched of course). You don't even need to give them your credit card into, which is sweet. What's even better, you can also get an additional $10 following the instruction below. That's a total of $60 free. Another added bonus is, right now, they are giving back $1 for every purchase of $1 or more (so, if you buy a $1 candy, you get the money back = FREE!). I highly recommend you take advantage of these promos. Here's how you can get free $60.
What you need:
- ISIS compatible phone (NFC required) The link of the first step below will show your phone, so you'll know then)
*If your phone is rooted, you will need to use RootCloak via Xposedinstaller
- ISIS compatible SIM card (if it is, it has isis branded on it - I hear some TMO stores will provide it free of charge while others may charge you)
Steps
- Go to ISIS
- On that page, select T Mobile as your carrier of course.
- Select your phone/device.
- Click on the Google Play link (You could install it directly from your phone, but if you don't get it through this web page, you will only get $50, not $60)
- Log in, choose your device, and hit install. This will install the app on your phone.
- Open the app and sign up for American Express Serve account via ISIS (by signing up through the ISIS app, they waive you the monthly fee, so you won't be charged anything at all).
- Follow instructions and create both ISIS and American Express Serve accounts.
- Once you finish the steps, including verifying accounts via email, you will receive your $60. Mine arrived after only 10 minutes, but the processing time may vary.
ATT and Verizon have similar offers, but theirs are only $25. I'm glad I stayed with T Mobile. Go TMO!
Cheers,
Obviously I haven't looked at the T&C or any of the details yet, but does anyone know if the monthly fee they waive is just one month, or a certain amount of time, or permanent?
Also, if you get an Isis compatible SIM, can you still use Google wallet?
Ill be looking into this a little later and will ket you guys know how it goes. Hopefully it'll bring me that much closer to finally fixing my S3 so I can play again!
Thanks for the post btw!
Does anyone know how to get this working on slimkat? The play store is giving me a device not compatible error.
Probably a build.prop edit is needed.
Yeah, it looks like that is most likely the case. I'm going to have to play with this one on both mine and my wife's phones.
Wow it's getting difficult to modify system files with 4.4. I thought i had my build.prop replaced but I guess not. Here goes attempt x2
how did you get the extra $10 to make the total $60? I only got $50
Is the promo still going on?? I got busy and completely forgot about it!
Thank you OP! I just got $50. But only because I had already signed up for ISIS but never have used.
I only got $50 when I signed up but I'm pretty sure that deal is still active.
Promo ends august 31
Has anyone used FastGSM before? What was your experience with them?
I'm trying to SIM unlock a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 that's locked to EE/Orange/T-Mobile in the UK. The easy method (detailed here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683) isn't working for me - it looks like it generally doesn't work for anyone on EE - and I can't get an unlock code directly from EE unless I'm a customer of theirs (which I'm not, hence the need for unlocking!) and have the phone registered to my account. I've ordered an EE PAYG SIM so that I can create an account, register the phone and order an unlock code, but that's going to take up to 10 days after I receive the SIM. So in the meantime I was looking for a faster service.
Enter FastGSM - they have a service on their website here -
http://www.fastgsm.com/en/samsung/galaxy-s4/unlocking/unlock-code
Which claims to unlock Samsung Galaxy S4s instantly using their software over USB (if your baseband version is older than ME1, which mine is) and it's only $14.99. I know, sounds too good to be true so it probably is, but they take Paypal payments and say they have a 100% money back guarantee, so it sounds like I'm covered. I also did a bit of Googling and, yes, found a few complaints about them but way more positive reviews that made the complaints seem par for the course.
Except when I clicked to buy the service, it wouldn't just let me pay $14.99 to buy the software. It said I had to buy 'credit' on their website first. I thought, okay, if that's the way it works, then fine, so I bought $14.99 of credit, which involved creating an account with them. Then I went to buy the software again and, now that I'm signed in with an account, it wants me to checkout using Paypal - there is no option to use the credit. If I go to my account I can see that the credit is there and there's a drop down list of services I can buy with it but the S4 unlocking software is not on the list.
So I contacted customer services, basically saying 'Hey, I'm trying to buy the S4 unlocking software but your website redirected me to buying credit first. How do I use the credit to buy the software?' Their response was a link to the instructions on how to use the software. That's great, except I don't have the software yet. So I contacted them again, restating that I have not yet been able to purchase the software, I only have credit in my account, how do I use that to buy the software? And they replied saying 'Yes, you have credit in your account. Here are the software instructions again.'
So this is quite infuriating because now we're going around in circles. I'm not sure whether there's a language barrier here (I think they're based in China?) or they're deliberately misunderstanding me but I'm not sure how many ways I can say 'Your website has taken my money but won't let me have the thing I'm trying to buy.'
Does anyone know how to use their website to buy this service using credit? Otherwise I'm going to have to seek a refund and get an unlock code the long way round, through EE.
UPDATE - I tried logging out of my account and going back to the website as though I was a new customer. When you click 'Buy' for this software option, without logging in, it takes you to a page that says 'Your shopping cart is empty. Why don't you buy some credits?', which is why I thought I had to buy credits before I bought the service. However, if you create an account first, then go to buy the software, it does allow you to purchase directly using Paypal, which is what I wanted to do in the first place. So it seems like there's a bit of a glitch/oversight on their website, which is forgivable, but I'm now hesitant to buy the software because then I'll have effectively paid for it twice and I'd have to fight for a refund for the credit I purchased with their terrible customer service!
Okay, so after 3 days and 3-4 e-mails to customer service, this is what I've ascertained -
You don't need to buy the software, despite how it looks on the website. The software is freely available on the website, what you're paying for is the unlock code. But you don't buy that directly through the website either. What happens is you sign up for an account on the website, load it with credit, and when you use the software you need to sign in with your account and it generates an unlock code for you (deducting the cost from your credit) and unlocks the phone connected by USB.
I can confirm that it does work and I now have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505, previously locked to EE, unlocked and running on 3.
I just can't believe how unclear the website is about how this works, or that it took so many e-mails to customer service for clarification (and even then it wasn't that clear - I had to just go ahead and try the software before I realised how it worked). It's also worth noting that both the Samsung USB drivers and software were considered malicious by my browser (Chrome, but I also tried IE and it said the same thing). That's probably because they're .exe files, rather than being contained in .zip files, but my anti virus also flagged them, which they say is a false positive (let's hope so!).
So while I'm not sure I would recommend the service, it does work.
Hi:
Today i received an unexpected e mail with cancelation of my pixel 6 pro/512GB, they explain " It doesn´t align with our sales terms ( of course I don´t violated any sales term, this sound like excuses and lies from google)
I contacted to customer support, they told me that this is happening to several buyers for system failures
Several tech homepages reported many problems in the last 48 hours with that pre orders
Does somebody suffer the same thing?
Thanks
Do you really want to give this corporation your money?
Well it seems your money is no good there... really they should pay you to take anything running on Android 11
Maybe you card's billing address didn't match the delivery address or used a different card that they don't accept.
Read their sale terms:
Google Store Terms of Sale for Devices
store.google.com
Did your order go through when the store was having issues ? If so, there might be some problem with them processing it..
If it was placed 4-5 hours later when things were working fine, it is more worrying.
I'm so sorry to hear this. It's frustrating to not know why!!
Edit: I looked at Android Central's forum and no one reporting a problem.

same here tried to order to mail forwarding since i am outside of google store coverage and it got cancelled after few days
Is there any reseller in literally any country where I can preorder UNLOCKED google pixel? Its not a question of free earbuds it sounds like i wont get this phone at all due to bs terms
Idk I could load my money to mail forwarding so they buy it with their card but how they can possibly do that if the phone availability is not stable
right now its out of stock again
This is what support told me
Google Store Terms of Sale for devices, the country of issue for a credit card must match the shipping address country. Google reserves the right to reject your order if you don't live in a country from which devices may be purchased via the Google Store. This might be also the reason for the cancelled order.

I do this all the time and never have an issue.
I noticed you're shipping to Miami. Are you by any chance shipping the phone to a freight forwarder? It's possible that google just doesn't shop to known FF addresses.
My order was cancelled about 15 minutes after it was confirmed. I went in and placed another order with a different credit card and so far so good. My 256 GB Pro is due Oct 30-Nov 3. I received my free Pixel Buds yesterday.

This is quite interesting that it happened days after you ordered. Of course it sucks.
I was active in a forum when the P6 came out, when hundreds there tried to order the phones - and had about reports of circa 15 people that got their order cancelled by Google shortly after getting through, just like you said here - but not after days. It was more like a maximum 60 minute mark. It's odd that this happened to you after this long time. I guess Google is manually managing/checking all orders, or maybe the system flagged your order and those that are flagged get manually re-checked. I can't think of another explanation why this happened after three long days.
