I recently installed the google play store. Whenever attempting to open it, the play store always says either no connection or connection timed out with a retry button underneath. Anyone have any troubleshooting tips?

So I just updated to KitKat with Google Search ver.3.1.8 and Google Play Store ver. 4.4.22. My device is not rooted and is stock.
Every time I try to search for apps in the play store, I always keep getting the 'connection timed out' message. The play store home page shows and I can access apps through the various home menus but I can't search for any apps.
I've cleared caches and even removed/re-added my account but still can't search for apps. Does anybody know what the problem could be and how to fix it?

Oh man I thought I screwed something up with my device and was beginning to worry. Thanks for the reply and the link.
I am receiving this pop-up error as well as a couple of other Google errors. I have an Amazon Firephone 64 GB through Straight Talk, and have the Google Play Store on it. I've tried clearing the cache on all of my Google Play apps, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling all of the Google play apps. Still get this error whenever Google play is active on my phone. The Google play apps still work, but I can hardly use my phone because the pop ups are so bad. Anyone know how to fix this? This just started a few days ago. Thanks.
Edit: Also, my phone is NOT rooted/jailbroken! I'd like to see if I can fix this problem without doing that.
Yup. Me too
I have been having the same behavior from my phone as well. It occurred when I let the battery die down so low it shut off. When it was recharged and started, it began exhibiting the "Google Play services have stopped" error. Clearly the reboot was the problem. Also, I can confirm my phone has not received any new updates.
UPDATE: Just noticed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/help/google-play-store-stopped-t3086235 and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/general/google-play-services-crashing-t3084355
Hello
Sometimes ( 1 or 2 times per day), my google app are buggy : I do have wifi or mobiledata connection, but google play or google behave as there wasn't any : google play show a blank page with an infinite loading, google map show the preloaded map, but can't load anything more or can't make any search....
Of course if I access these via the browser, everything work...
To fix this, I have to to manually force stop "google play sevice" (or reboot)
any idea ? I have tried
- resetting host
- cleaning app data off google play service and drive, youtube, maps etc...
I am root but these occured before rooting
Google Play Store stuck "Download Pending" or "Waiting for WIFI" HELP!
I have a new Galaxy S20+ that I've been using for about a week. Great phone but lately I noticed that I'm unable to download or update apps in the Google Play Store. It keeps telling me "download pending" or "waiting for download" or "waiting for WIFI" even though I have a full WIFI and 4G signal. I've tried the following
-Clear Google Play Store and Google Services Cache
-Uninstall Google Play Store Updates
-Full factory reset of the device
-Removing my google account and re-adding it
Nothing has helped. I'm becoming super frustrated since I'm trapped at home and I can't even use my brand new phone to download games or apps!
Does anyone else have this issue? HELP!
same issue on OnePlus 8T ... i have reset it to factory default setting like 5 times, tried to update the store APK manually ...still no joy... can't install anything.

go into Play Store>then the 3 horizontal lines top left corner>My Apps & Games>Installed(centre top)>then delete all the apps waiting for download.
and in case that doesn't work then follow the steps in the link below:

Hello, hoping someone has a recommendation:
I have a new latest generation Kindle Fire 8 Plus (9th?).
I did not root it, I just installed the 4 .apks needed to add the Google play store.
The installation went smoothly and I am logged into my Google account in the Play store, and I have used it to install several apps. However I'm running into two issues:
1) Google Chat downloads and says it's installed, but still not open. (Google chat work around is to use it through the gmail app-this works fine).
2) A game called Rise of Cultures works but to synchronize with game progress on other devices, requires to "Connect with Google Play". Every time I try to connect it, it says "account connect failed, try to connect at a later time."
Any ideas? Would rooting help? I didn't use the Kindle Toolbox because I only wanted the Google play store while retaining the Amazon skin since the primary use for this devices is to browse and buy Kindle books. Other Google apps seem to be able to sign into my Google account without any problems...
Any tips are appreciated!
Have you tried to wipe the application data with which there are problems?
Thanks, that was a good suggestion but it didn't work, still same issue.
If it is possible uninstall the google store and services (or restore to the factory version) and install older versions of the google store and services from apkmirror.
