I got Dr.Dre earphones http://www.beatsbydre.com/earphones/tour/beats-tour.html which originally designed for iphone/Ipod. But they only partly works on Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3, e.g. no volume control and microphone.
Seems like it's because pinout problem, iphone using CTIA and maybe i wrong Android using OMTP. After searching i found such adapter CTIA-OMTP converter http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-CTI...ile-Headphones-3-5mm-Audio-Jack-/200934239388 Will it solve my issue?

Hello, I have a Nokia 5800 which I use for listening to music. I want to buy the Samsung Galaxy i5800, but seeing as listening to music is the primary thing I will be using this phone for, I gotta ask: Does Samsung Galaxy i5800 have something like the Nokia HS-45 headset adapter? Since I'm a new user i cannot post a picture, but if you google images for Nokia HS-45 you'll see what i mean. Does Samsung Galaxy i5800 have anything similar to this device?
this?
you can use this with our phone
Can that be used on the Samsung? I mean, do the play/pause/stop/back/forward buttons work?
Hmm
I am also looking for something similar.
I still can't find a headset adapter with working play/stop/backward/forward buttons. Any help is appreciated. Tried several Nokia headsets, sound works, but controls don't.
Can the music on Samsung i5800 even be controlled with a headset?
I use this bluetooth earphones in which all the buttons works flawlessly:
http://shopping.rediff.com/product/bluedio-av890-stereo-a2dp-bluetooth-headset/10616877
But don't expect the sound quality to be good with its bundled earphones. Changing the earphones makes the sound a bit better.
i have both nokia 5800 and samsung galaxy 3.... the nokia 5800 headset cannot control the music on g3...
i use nokia bh-214 stereo bluetooth adapter... it can play/pause and fwd/back on the g3.... and the bundled earphones are quite good.... you can even plug any other earphones on it if you want...
I have a pair of Nokia WH-701 headphones
nokia.co.in/find-products/accessories/all-accessories/headsets/wired-headsets/nokia-stereo-headset-wh-701
(removed "www" so that this would be a valid noob post and no this isn't spam )
And the buttons(volume,call,play/pause etc) on these headphones don't work on my GT-I5800..Is there any way(maybe an app?) to make them work with our phone???
Is this an issue only with these particular headphones or is this the same for all headphones? If it is so then it would be of great help if our devs could cook up an app to make these compatible with our phone
Thanks in advance
P.S.: This is my First post so please forgive me if its in the wrong place
I dont think the buttons will work .. its a wired headphone so the harware is not supported.. had it been a bluetooth one then it would have been possible..
Yep, it shouldnt be possible to use the buttons.
No, it shouldn't work. It can't.
First of all, android doesn't support previous/next/volume buttons, only single button with multiple press options (single/double/triple, slow and long press). HERE you can find remote functionality for all android music players and some non-android as well, using standard headphones with single action button.
Below there is a table called 'P Version Compatibility'. It lists all of the android phone models that are compatible with standard TRRS (4 pin) jack. As of standard jack I'm thinking about that one which is compatible with iPhone and most of the music players (pins as follows: T, R1, R2, S). There is no Galaxy 3 specified in that compatibility table, which means it has kind of proprietary port.
In this proprietary port the microphone and ground pins are reversed (pins as follows: T, R1, S, R2). Many Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones are equipped with it, so they are not compatible with standard headsets mic/button functionality.
To be able to use this additional functionality you have to use Samsung's headset bundled with i5800 or similar (as of headset jack) phone or use TRRS to TRSR adapter, like THIS one.
In this case buttons and mic are totally incompatible with android OS, despite the fact that both (phone and headset) have the same (propably) pins layout.
To sum it up:
- you can use mic/button in Galaxy 3 only with specific Samsung/Nokia/Sony headsets or using adapter.
- you can (try to) listen to music on 4 pin TRSR device using TRRS headset, but mic/button won't work, and sound most probably will be heavily distorted. And vice versa.
- you can listen to music without any problems using any 3 pin jack (no mic/button) in any 3 pin or 4 pin device.
- not sure about both of 4 pin jacks in 3 pin port.
For example Samsung Galaxy S had Samsung's proprietary port, Galaxy S2 has standard port. Life has just become easier
Hello guys
My original earphones were broken and I thought that it would be a good idea to try again samsung's but another model this time.So I went for galaxy's note earphones that I found at ebay which says that is fully compatible with i5800
The fact is that they don't work properly. Their sound is very "deep" and when you are listening music singer is inaudible. The weird thing is that if I press the button for accepting/ending calls the problem fixes.
At first I thought that if I did some kind of "patent" to keep the button pressed everything would be fine( I use earphones mainly for music and not for calls) but if I keep the button pressed when I insert the jack earphones are not detected.
Finally I contacted the seller who told me that the one that they sent me were broken and sent a replacement but those have also the same issue.
Has anyone else the same issue? Can I do anything to fix this problem or it is a matter of compatibility so nothing can be done?
It's all written in my post above. Galaxy S2, S3 and Note use standard headset jacks, while older devices, like ours, do not. You can use only special Samsung's (or other OEM) TRSR earphones, e.g. from i5800/i5801/i9000, to be able to use remote control button. Every headset without button will work as well.

Sorry mate don't get angry with me.I asked for further info because the name of earphones at ebay was "
GENUINE SAMSUNG WHITE STEREO HANDSFREE FOR i550 I5500 I5510 i560 I5700 I5800" but undoubtedly looks alike those of galaxy note.(forum don't let me post the link of the product)
So I was wondering whether it was a fixable problem or not
Cool, I'm a very calm person.
The seller most probably doesn't know about this issue, it's typical all over the world (sellers' lack of knowledge). That's what forums are for, since OEMs didn't want us to use headphones other than bundled ones in the first place (audio ports are much more unified nowadays, thankfully).
So the answer is: no, it's not fixable. The only way to use in-line button is to buy a specific headset that works properly with i5800 (bundled ones or other that are proven to be working with proprietary TRSR port).
Good luck.
Edit: Try EHS48ESOME.
ok then I have to go for the same ones that was provided with the phone although I wasn't satisfied with their quality.Sound was very good but I faced serious problems with the speaker and in order for the others to hear me I had to hold it near my mouth.
That was the reason why I decided to buy another model.Of course I didn't know that it wasn't compatible with my device
Anyway thank
List for
Samsung ,HTC ,Sony (not sony erricson) and Nokia lumia headset and headphones that work all three buttons & mic

-Nokia purity

Yes, there are such adaptors. You'll find tons of them on ebay. The great thing about the Note is that both Samsung/Nokia and iPhone/HTC adaptors ( and handsfree earphones ) will work on it.
It's pretty cool how they managed to achieve the ultimate earpiece compatibility for the Note.
The compatibility is not 100 % for iphone model cables.
I have not succeeded in making the volume button work on the galaxy not, the mic is okay though.
the point is i don't want to waste money on adapters just to find out they will not work
after some reading i stumbled upon the sony ericsson mw-600, which is compatible with the note
So coming from from Sony Ericsson x10 previously and having only used the stock earphones supplied with my galaxy nexus I have a question I was hoping someone may be able to answer.
On my x10 Sony used some kind of non standard 3.5mm jack for headphones and it had this issue where certain headphones would not play music properly unless the mic button was presed or other wise perminently held into the pressed position, something to do with rings on the 3.5mm jack. Headphones advertised for iPhones or blackberry would not work unless the mic button was pressed perminatly but if the button was pressed then audio play back would be fine.
So my question is does anyone know if this issue is present or not on galaxy nexus?

Yeah I have the same prob with my Xperia mini headphones,if the mic button is pressed they work good,if not they sound like a bad FM station but with my big jvc PC headphones it sounds great. I think its something software related or maybe the wires are different.

The nexus supports the mobile headset standard which includes mic and single button. So any set like bose MIE2 will work. But i bet your sony headset will give the same problem then...
I have a pair of klipsch s4i headphones that work fine on my galaxy nexus (with exception of the volume buttons). On my att galaxy s3, the microphone doesn't work, the other party or recorded only hear silence.
It's this standard? If I get an "android specific" headset like the s4a are th get look Kelly to work fine?

I have the Etymotic Research HF2 and it's working fine.
I have the premium iphone in-ear buds (that unfortunately are no longer sold) Microphone is not working at all.
I had this same issue with my galaxy s 1... I had to get a special adapter to use iphone type earphones...
I have similar problem. I have Monster Jamz with ControlTalk. I used it with iPhone4, Galaxy S1 andS2. It worked fine on both (except the volume control on S1, S2). I recently upgraded to S3 (i747m Canadian version), and the Mic doesn't work at all. The bundled samsung earbuds works just fine. argh....
