After lots of flashing it has caused my phone to freeze with the screen off after about a minute (So I cannot turn it on, to reopen the phone I have to hold the power button to force reset) , the notification led stays in the some state as when I turn the screen off. the strange thing is that if I am listening to Music , this does not happen.
tested multiple android versions of android , kernels, roms and even using a stock rom
factory resetting. etc.
nothing works. the only thing I havent tried is pit flashing.
Any ideas guys?
help would be much appreciated.
To fix use redeye sleep toggle and turn cpu sleep off
Anyway to implement similar function into roms?
Deepsleep causing the error

I need some help/advice.
I have a launch Evo(hardware v.2) and recently I have an issue where the screen will randomly become un responsive. I usually have to press the power button a few times to toggle between the black screen and lock screen to get it to work.
The other issue I am having is the status bar will not drag down. Sometimes it does, and there are also other times where it will sporadically lower and hide over and over.
I am rooted, and this has happened with Mym's and Ava-Froyo's roms with different kernel combinations. I have wiped and flashed the rom each time to make sure nothing is hanging over from a previous install.
Is it something software related or is it possible the hardware is going bad?
Thanks in advance for the help!
I'm having an odd problem. When my G2 is sleeping (screen off, not charging) the backlight intermittently turns on and off. I'm currently running a CM7 nightly (#21) but have attempted to troubleshoot this by flashing several (non-CM7) ROMs, and the problem remains.
I've been unable to see anything in a logcat dump showing the screen or backlight activity.
Another symptom is that pressing any of the "hard" buttons (besides power) cause the backlight to momentarily activate, then turn off.
It behaves this way in any mode--airplane, wifi on/off, bluetooth on/off.
Otherwise everything else seems to function normally--as long as the screen is supposed to be on, it's great. Sitting on the table or nightstand flashing the backlight all night, no so much.
Anyone else had this problem, or is it time to start hunting for a "donor" device?
In Android 4.1--pretty much every iteration of it, including CM10--when I hit my power button to sleep the phone, the phone would go to sleep immediately. In 4.2 and beyond, there is a half-second delay when I push the power button and when the screen actually turns off.
This issue is present in 4.2 stock, 4.2.1 stock, 4.2.2 stock, 4.3 stock and every single version and nightly of both CM10.1 and CM10.2 that I've flashed. Disabling the CRT animation or changing the animation scale does not fix the issue; the device still hangs for a half second or so before turning off the screen.
This persists no matter what I do. The usual suggestions do not work; the problem persists. It's going to drive me nuts eventually, because I keep thinking it didn't take, mashing the power button a second time, only to turn my screen back on again.

Hello.
Add the "go to sleep" control on the notification drawer's power widget (Settings->Interface->Notification Drawer) and try it. If works, problem solved. If not, we can discar hardware (power button) issue.
I've never encountered the issue in everyday use. It has happened to me a handful of times, but only when the phone is heavily bogged down. Never under normal use. I assume you would know if your phone was being bogged down though?

Strange issue
a new samsung s4 mini, stock rom.
the screen will not turn off. whenever it enters sleep mode, the screen blacks out for a second, then turns back on.
this happens when it goed to sleep automatically, or when pressing the powerbutton
tried factory reset, same problem (no extra programs installed)
installed a wakelock ap, but that does not really show a reason why it should be turning on?
Anyhting obvious i am missing, or should i just return this to the dealer.

Have you installed any app like "Screen ON"?
I ve got this problem from time to time, when I lock the phone it wakes up for 5s and then turns the screen off although I have had twice the situation where the screen was on all the time till I pressed off button again...strange.
Had this problem long time ago with Note 1 and somebody said that the phone wakes up if it looses the signal and searching for it again......
dont know......
Im not really sure but might as well try.
Have you turned on Daydream ?
You can find it in Settings 》My Device 》 Display
Make sure it is off.
If that hasnt worked, if you have a cover on take it off and then see if you still have that problem. Maybe the cover is too tight and its presing on a button.
If that doesnt work, then now lets turn off Smart Stay. Swipe down your notification bar and look for Smart Stay and turn it off.
If none of these have worked then I'm not sure :/
Hope your problems gets fixed.

The model of my phone is SGH-T999. It is not rooted (I'm going to root it soon though), its running Android 4.3 and I do admit I've dropped it a few times but it has a cover. It shuts off at the most random moment and restarts itself, and sometimes it won't go past the Galaxy SIII logo before restarting itself once more. Theres a possibility the lock button has something to do because when it stays in that startup loop I play around with the lock button till it finally finishes the startup succesfully, but I don't know how the lock button can make it shut down on its own while its turned on without me touching the "power off" option in the window that comes up.
Let's assume for a minute that the Power Button is not the culprit of the reboot. Its certainly possible that the button causes reboots during Boot. Several people have discovered, this button can get stuck.
So given that, let examine your Reboot. You may have to try a factory reset to see if that helps. Typically if there are a lot of background apps running, the phone may get warm and reboot.
Speaking of temperature, you may want to use some Battery Temp monitor like TempMonitor. Stock firmware tends to have low tolerance for temperature and may force Reboot.
Holdin the power button will force a hard reset btw. So if itz sticking that'll do it.
