Hey guys,
I would like to start by apoligizing if there is a thread relating to this issue, but i have searched the forums and couldn't find a solution. The problems i am having is that Google just will not sync on my phone ATT Galaxy S3. I lost all contacts, google play, and google talk. nothing is working anymore.
Recently i tried to install "freedom" on the phone to get free in app purchases. then installed localepicker. now removed the locale picker and the freedom app and i am not sure if this is what caused the problem.
I dont know alot about all this rooting and flashing and stuff like that... i rooted the phone a very simple way from this website just to get game gaurdian on the phone to mess around with games.
So if anybody could helo with my problem thta would be excellent.
Thank you very Much.

When you go in settings and add account, do you get an error? Also, do you set it to manually sync or automatic?
Did it randomly stop or it was after flashing?

Can not establish a reliable connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues Call Customer Servic .
Thats is the message that I keep getting. And i noticed it this morning after I deleted all that freedom/locale pocket stuff. The Internet still works, it's just it refuses to sync the Google account.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

When you look at your signal, is it grey? When it is colored (blue most of the time), then it's connecting with Google, if grey, it's not.
I did a little google search (can go a long way ) and found a few solutions:
1- Just restart the phone without the SIM card, and connect to some WiFi network, so you can login to your Google Account. It will log you into the account, and then you can put the SIM card back.
2- Add YouTube app and login with gmail account
Go into Gmail App and add account if needed.
Sign into Gmail account wither username and password
Go through login process
3- Hard reset your phone. You will lose all information that is currently on your phone when you do this.
Select Settings -> Security -> Factory Data Reset
Once the phone reboots, input your google account information when the phone asks for it.

Tried step #1 and #2. None of these work. Just a quick question before Itry step #3 . Will it cause to brick my phone? The only reason I am asking is because the phone is rooted, by one of the methods on this site. That is my only worry, will anything happen if I do it that way or doni have to go threw Odin and that whole process again? Once again thanks for the help.

No you won't brick your phone. Although, make a backup first.

Thanks a lot. When you say back up - you just mean pull all the pics off and put them on my comp, right? Like i said before I'm a noob to the whole android rooting process and things of its nature. Thanks again.

You can go in recovery and make a nandroid backup. That will make a flashable image of your phone which you can get back to if something goes wrong.

Wow. Ok I totally lost you there. I don't know how to make backups and flash stuff. Guess I'll just try to take off the pics and videos. And start from scratch again. I would love to have the latest JB update w/o all the bloatware that AT&T puts on it, but that a whole other project in itself. Lol Thank you for all your help.

Fantastic.... all your ideas did nothing...
Still experiencing the same problems. same error message. its like its blocking my phone from syncing. Maybe i deleted a file. I think the best bet would be to flash a whole new ROM or reboot the whole phone, and make it a fresh one.

Do a backup and go back to stock. See if it works there. If not, it's a problem with your carrier, maybe even your sim card.
My i19082 goes into a constantly repeating reboot cycle if the "Sync" function is activated. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for any comments.

More details? Rooted, or installed any custom mods or etc? Try factory reset, if else not working then you will have to flash your firmware again.

Thanks for the response. I'm a novice - how do I find out if the phone is Rooted? How do I do a factory reset? Or, where can I find information on these issues?

Alright, if like that means you haven't play anything on your phone yet, To resolve that, go to Settings > Backup and reset > factory reset your device.
Warning all apps will be lose your apps and all will be reset to default. (*just like you have newly bought your phone)
You can backup your SMS messages using SMS Backup & Restore app. Search for it in Playstore, If you want to backup your contacts, just export your contacts to SD card.

Is there anything that I could try first that isn't so catastrophic that it wipes out everything on the phone ? . . .

Or, you can try remove all your account and add them again then disable the Sync, See if it helps, if not, try reset your phone. If you are very unlucky even after reset the problem still presist, you should sent to Samsung Service Centre, maybe is hardware related issue.
Hi
my phone has become unusable as my Contacts Storage app data keeps filling up internal memory. As soon as I try and uninstall an app to free some memory the CS app fills it up. I have checked with Diskusage app and it's now at 3.5GB+. Tried to backup contacts to perform reset but Contacts app as well as many other apps do not open due to lack of available memory as it is all filled up by Contacts Storage. I would not like to clear data from the Contacts Storage app and lose all contacts... but what to do? Is there any viable alternative?
Thanks
Marco
Hi there!
It sounds like you have a buggy app. Is Contacts storage part of the Operating system or is it a Play Store app?

Hi, I agree, this might be a problem with the app which is a Samsung app. From the net it seems some other people had the same problem on Note II, S5

If your N3N is rooted already, check this link out. You could make a manual backup of your contacts first using that method and then factory reset or flash STOCK back to it.
If you're not rooted, consider trying it out?[you should know beforehand that this will DEFINITELY trip your KNOX counter]:angel::angel:

Thanks for the advice. It's not rooted unfortunately. I will try that. Does routing erase the contact data on the phone?
I was hoping to find a way to fix the buggy app, whatever it is, but I'm afraid I have no other option.

Oh no, it does no such thing. Rooting only allows you permission to write to your system partition. See here and here for more information about rooting an android device.
Don't rush for a quick fix. Take your time to ensure your data is backed up safely before attempting any repairs or *risky* operations on your phone. Be safe, and enjoy :highfive:

Hi, I deleted 2GB of apps... and the problem disappeared. The Contacts storage space went back to 40MB.
I backed up the contacts with Super backup and then rooted the phone anyway.
Is there any way to see (using some root enabled app) which app is causing the issue of bloated contacts storage, after I reinstall the basic/main apps like FB, Google+ etc?
I have found some logging apps on play store but not sure which one might help

That's weird!
I'm glad you got it fixed either way. I don't think that that is normal behaviour for a system app, especially if you're SURE it's the one behaving like that. It seems the entire OS might be buggy.
Best bet is to backup data, make Nandroid backup, and flash back to STOCK or a custom TW custom ROM... Start afresh - so to speak

Can anyone give me contacts storage apk i accidentally uninstalled it now my contract isn't loading PS help!
I accidentally deleted everything on my S9 (SM-G960F) including the OS. Phone doesnt start however I can boot it into TWRP and download, when I try flashing the stock rom with Odin it gets to System then just doesnt work. It doesnt fail nor does it crash or freeze the bar just doesnt go up and ive been trying to fix all day so please can someone help me, its a new phone too. Atm im trying to download the firmware from XDA and see if that one works, is it possible it could just be that the stock rom im trying now is just missing something or could my laptop be the problem? Im open to suggestions and please help I beg.
Make sure to use ODIN 3.13.1 and you might have to check "Repartition" in ODIN options - it can take a while to flash, how long were you waiting for the bar to move?

When your TWRP is working, put a custom rom zip into your storage or sd card while beeing in TWRP and flash this. Thats it.
You can dowwnload all the nessesery files like rom, firmware and vendor here:

try to see if google photos automatically backup your photos,
even if you root your phone you may not be able to recover all your photos or even none of them

Thanks for the reply!
I checked and my Google Photos is not configured to backup. My videos were deleted by the DJI app when I cleared Cache. So should I try rooting or give up? Will I only access the files if I was rooted before the accidental deletion?

I have not installed TWRP before I deleted the files. Does this mean I have no chance of getting the files?
Also, I can't find the unlock OEM option in my phone despite keeping it on for 7 days or tricking the date.
Please tell me is there any way even small hope to get back all pictures I have lost ?? Was very important to me.

A flash memory doesn't work like a hard drive memory. When data is deleted it's gone. On a hdd, when data is deleted the data is just marked as ready to overwrite and is still physically there. As far as we all know, your phone uses flash memory, so all your data is gone, unless you had a back-up to google photos. If not, I'm sorry.

It is very natural to everyone. Please check out your backups such as Google drive, photos, notes , your PC etc.And restore all data as much as you can.You can also log in into your Google account while first boot so that if there is anything was saved to your Google account automatically it will be restored.
