Is there any way to overclock the kindle fire 2?.. I've only seen for the HD and 1st gen. My KF2 is rooted and has jelly bean 4.2.2 from Hashcode.

KF 4430 stock is 1 GHz
KF2 4430 stock is 1.2GHz(max rated speed for chip)
KFHD 7" 4460 stock is 1.2GHz(max rated speed for ideal chip is 1.5GHz) with a GPU max clock of 384MHz(same GPU as 4430 but higher max)

Hello,
Desire and Desire HD share the same arm CPU of 1Ghz, it is hard to get full board and chip-set specs of both.
My question is why there are lags when using a DHD ROM on the desire?
No, they have slightly different CPUs (chipsets).
Desire:
1 GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 200 GPU, Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon chipset,576 MB RAM

The CPU listed it as the same, but it is a newer architecture + more RAM = more juice.
Also, I'm using InserCoin HD port, and have no lags with that one.
I tried Reflex sense for a while but went back to non HD auraxTsense
I had no lag on reflex though - it was very good
I'm using owhne v4.2.3 , and have no lags with that one.
Hey,
So since the TI OMAP 4460 is actually meant to be clocked at 1.5GHz but Google decided to underclock it to 1.2GHz, Is there a way to overclock it to its maximum?
I've been looking at almost all Kernels at the development section but non of them states that the processor is overclocked to anything over 1350MHz.. which is the top right now..

I believe I read somewhere that they clocked it down to 1200 because they struggled getting it stable at 1500, that being said it is VERY individual how much you can overclock the CPU before it becomes unstable.

The processor is rated at 1.5Ghz.. that doesn't mean it is stable at 1.5Ghz for the masses.
I was just wondering how many out there actually use it. I personally DO NOT use that option out of fear of overheating and/or internal damage.

Generally speaking, 1.2Ghz for the KF is quite safe. I think most people with custom ROMs leave it as the default max cpu setting.

Was it that Amazon capped off the max at 1008 because of stability issues with their forked GB? I see the 2nd gen Kindle also has an OMAP4430 and of course it's stock 1200

I run mine 1.2Ghz because I can't sacrifice the extra smoothness and speed.
It's really safe though, it's not like a forced overclock, rather a reset of a underclock by Amazon as far as I know.

Two things:
One. Doesn't it overheat the kf? I know that I experimented once or twice in some early cm10.1 with “overclocking" to 1200 Meg, and it got pretty warm. Maybe some other stuff was involved...
Two. How much does that cut into the battery life? Do you do a lot of gaming?

That's why I don't use 1.2 and usually never use 1008. I can accept the device not being as "snappy" but I can't accept it being unreasonably warm. Mine usually has a max of 800 and I never have to worry about overheating.......heat = not so good things

I don't think you realise this, but overclocking to 1.2 only raises the Max frequency, not neccesarily the average. So depending on what governer your're on, the 1.2ghz would very rarely be used, or rather, only when needed.
Battery life and overheating is practically unaffected.

I definitely know raising the max on my Kindle to 1008 or 1.2 makes the overall temp go up a few degrees. I am a fanatic about my devices and treat them with ALOT more respect than my actual body.....literally
I'm on 1.2GHz

I would put if I could 1.5 as a maximum, because I can't feel "overheating" neither "battery life problem" with 1.2
Hey,
is it possible to overclock the kindlefire past 1.2Ghz? Maybe with the 3.4 kernel, or is it something impossible because it's something that comes from the hardware?
It seems it's possible to OC it past 1.2Ghz, http://liliputing.com/2012/05/overclock-a-samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-to-1-3-ghz.html

That's a Galaxy tab and you probably would damage the processor past 1.2 GHz.

They have the same CPU that originially ran at 1Ghz (like the Kfire one), so it should be possible.
You could configure the kernel to OC up to 2Ghz if you wanted to, but would it be stable? Absolutely not.
The highest I've seen the KF oc'ed to is 1.3Ghz, and it was only stable on half the devices. 1.2 Ghz is the highest and most stable benchmark for overclocking, which is probably why the new KF2s with the same exact CPU is running at 1.2 rather than 1.0
oh well, since half of the kfire's work properly at 1.3Ghz (sorry if I didn't understand you) there should be an option to enable the 1.3Ghz OC
You know, it's not bad to test faster speeds, the Kfire is aging a bit so a little extra juice won't hurt haha.
I guess that leaves you with two options. You can put in a request with the kernel's developer (which will probably be denied, if not ignored), or use this site for what it was originally intended by using the resources within it and learn how to do it yourself.
okie, thanks soupmagnet

Quadrant is over two years old and is pretty much a useless benchmark.
