Hi guys,
I have a HTC Desire (A8181) which has been rooted and runs Cyanogenmod 7. I recently upgraded to the Nexus 4 and gave this phone to my wife who wanted to connect to her office emails. When setting up the account, it failed with Policy errors stating "Device encryption is not supported on this device". I looked up and found that Android 2.3 does not have this.
My question: Can I get this device encryption feature by upgrading to a higher version of the OS like ICS? Or is there a work around to get this to work on the existing OS?
The details of my device:
HTC Desire A8181
Rooted with CWM
Running Cyanogenmod 7.2.0.1 (extended memory to 2GB using Data2SDInstaller)
Any help on this is much appreciated. I did look up the forum for similar posts, but didn't find any!

You try to download SSE - Universal Encryption App from play store..... I think you can get this feature
You could try an aokp rom which has 4.2.2 avaible for it which may have device encryption that the email requires.

Today, I recieved lollipop v5.0 update on my HTC DESIRE 820 ( Software update 2.10.720..1 for 987.53 MB)
I dont understand why HTC is releasing 5.0 after all this time...
It just promised Marshmallow by the end of the year right? So why give us lollipop now, that too, why 5.0, not 5.1?

It looks like just upgrade there.
HTC says will update 5.0 soon, but now it has been more than one year.And I can't find my update today in my country.
The official pronounces 6.0 by the end of this year, but it just followed the M9 and M8, so Marshmallow hits D820 maybe in the end of our planet.
So disappointed.
Maybe I won't buy HTC phone anymore, and maybe it will not survive next few year by it's acting.

Just checked again since this morning, the update is now downloading!! Lollipop update available in Belgium for single sim!! Oooow yeaaaaahhh!

I just saw the new update is released, but since it's not 5.1.x I'm kinda sceptic about downloading it. Considering user complaints on Android L of heating and battery draining issues... I just need a favor, could you just test if the top speaker play ringtone while having a call and let us know? I'd appreciate it, thanks in advance.

I`ve received the update before 20 hours.
I had a delay, but after returning to factory settings everything is as it should - amazing.

Also check the twitter, HTC promised to update D820 to marshmallow.
Update arrived in Romania. Takes a long time to download. 1gb size of update.
I downloaded the update but when my phone get into recovery mode it's start the installation and then stop anyone can help pleas?

Headphones error
Since I updated to Lollipop 5.0.2 the headphones stopped beeing recogniized by the phone. I am waiting for a new update.

you will die waiting before an update comes. do a backup of your phone, then factory reset it, clearing internal memory. then it should work.
from next time, always do a clean install for a major update. search on xda if you have any issues.

Thank you. After long pressing the Volume up + Power button (at least 10 seconds) the phone restarted, and the headhones start working again. 10x for your reply
Receiving here in Slovenia on mono-SIM 820, will make a hard reset after upgrade, just to be sure
So let's discuss this wonderful device , equipped with MT6753 octa core
We know it owns the same body as his older ( and stronger ) brother Jiayu S3. ( this one equipped with the MT6752 )
Until we get a proper forum ,or TAG. ( if ever ... ) Let's talk a bit here ...
I'm sure this will be another good device from Jiayu
And will receive much love from the company and community

Good phone with not so great battery.
is my first jiayu and I will wait for the new model from the company.
The problem is I can not find the easy root option and some apps like paypal can not be installed.
A message appear "your device is not compatible with this version" .
I bought from bangood and I have the last ota 17-12-2015.
I want to try the latest german rom https://jiayu.de/forum/index.php?thread/459-s3-plus-ota-30-01-2016/ and root the phone but i can not find instructions.

There's a mega.nz link in the op of German board. You need to flash system and recovery of this version, before you are able to update.
The version from there is rooted already, and recovery got replaced by twrp

Its a normal SPFlashTool ROM flash

The bugfixed rom (with Playstore properly working,...) which you mentioned in your post is only available by jiayu otair update currently. This rom was created by German reseller (not jiayu China) for their customers. If you didn't buy the device at jiayu.de you can buy jiayu otair service to receive this and upcoming updates immediately.
If you don't want to buy it, you need to wait a while to receive public update.
The rom from mega.nz is already rooted with custom recovery

There are 2 roms, one german and one official?
And there are 3 ways to get the german,
one if I install it from the mega upload, one if I install again something and then pay to get it immediately through ota and one if if wait to get it from officially a similar rom from jiayu?
The rom from mega.nz is the rom, initially shipped with jiayu.de devices. It is almost identical to the official chinese software, but rooted and with twrp recovery.
This software can be updated by ota app, and further updates also are going to be available through it. Current ota update has Playstore fixed, stagefright vulnerability closed and national roaming fixed in some countries.
Once there is a newer version available by ota app, the current rom is going to be available to public.
If you don't want to wait for this, and if you like to receive ota updates, you can get jiayu otair from Playstore. With it, you'll receive software updates the same way original German customers receive it (including the possibility to contact their official support in case something in the software isn't working properly).

Now I have this great phone without apps from my banks/paypal/vodafone ets.
The official rom have now is from 17-12-2015.
Even the elephone with rubbish roms did not have problems with apps, I do not understand why jiayu left this phone with this kind of problems those months.

Pretty much and to recap :
The Jiayu Deutschland ( Germany ) , haves their own software team
And haves their own rom ( usually its always ahead on software updates / security / features , when compared to the stock Chinese ROM )
If you bought the device on Jiayu Germany, you'll have free access to these new software updates .
If you didn't bought from there,then you have two options :
1) Buy the Jiayu Germany OTA app, and that will grant you access to their software
( pretty much it'll give you a Germany customer "status" , hence, you'll be granted access to all their updates ,and more ,)
2) Or, you could simply wait a while, since Jiayu Deutschland will also release their own ROM to the community , but, only when there's a newer update .
i.e. : when OTA ROM version 1.1 is available, then version 1.0 will be release for all the community
When ROM version 1.2 will be available for OTA , then version 1.1 will be release for the community, and so one ...
This is free of course ... We came from the community, so, we care ...

I've had elephone vowney for testing recently. Playstore crashes if you search an app with more than 6 letters... Don't tell me this is working better [emoji23]

I was thinking to install the initial release from the Germans but if the play store it is not fixed is it worth it?
And if tomorrow the official jiayu release a "good version I will install it through the custom recovery?
What you mean by official jiayu? China? They're still in new years vacation... You'd probably need to flash it by using flashtool... On s3 advanced no one ever wanted to go back to chinese software, after trying ours

yes but whats the reason to flash the phone to the german initial release if the problem with the play store is there?
Another think in Chinese jiayu is I can not find were is the support for our phone.
Maybe for other phones but for ours notging from support/last rom is there .
The problems with the elephone is similar, we have to install new custom rom to bypass them.
I feel disappointed generally for that my last purchases, 2 elephones and the jiayu.
I wiil give to jiayu another try if there is a new model with better battery / 4k recording / and no problems with play store but maybe I will go again to Huawei-one plus.

Hi guys, I just bought m8s from Orange. (no brand, no simlock, seems to be full stock)
I don't know where to start a topic because it's m8 forum..
My problem is:
I've got Android 5.0.2 Sense 6 - 1.16.401.10 version
My phone is lagging as hell.. I did wipe twice, animations are stuttering, phone runs like galaxy s1 on 2.3.3 beta.
Im serious, I can't even use fb messenger because typing letters is lagging, google chrome is lagging..
phone is not usable, even lockscreen have got lags.
SOME animations are okay but im honest I've never seen so laggy phone before..
I did benchmark on Antutu and it scores around 33k points.
I checked CPU and 8 cores are "working"
I did wipe in system and from recovery - nothing helped
I checked battery saving feature - disabled
I compared my phone to my friend's desire 820 and his is just smooth and fast, ten times smoother than mine.
Can someone help me with that? Im sure m8s is not that bad.

It worked, and phone was lagging same as on 16.10.
I just used my warranty, they told me it's looks like mobo/cpu failure,

Thank you Lonixlon, have you personally updated your X Force while having TWRP? I had a problem with installing OTA security patch as phone booted directly to TWRP. Do you know any workaround for that?

The version of the system says "retapac", which stands for "Retail Asia Pacific" - a retail version of the phone for Asia and the Pacific.
But I do not understand what is written in "On the phone" before upgrading to NUGA. Take on incomprehensible things, mismatches, in the version of Android, the Baseband version, the system version and the build number. In the build number is very old version of the system mpks24.78-8-12, in the version of the system is the latest version of the system with the upgrade to 6.0.1, but here the old version 6.0 and the old modem.
I have a lot of questions without answers ...

Well, may I express my opinion here too. I have an XT1581 Kinzie from China, it came with Lollipop 5.1.1. Workling perfect.
I go and update it to MM 6.0 using a Mexican or LKatin America rom, I keep the modem for the baseband from the Lollipop 5.1.1 Chinese rom, everything works almost better than before, not a single issue.
Now,m I tried to update it to Nougat 7 following the Google+ guide, a nightmare, although an enjoyable one!
First, I have only one sim working, no wif. Try anoth system, now I have two sims OK but still no wifi.
At the end, after many trials, I went back to my old MM 6.0 LAt rom, backed using TWRP, and the system is back to normal with everything working OK.
Did you ask me if I'm going to change? Nope, I'm happy the way things are, unless an official Nougat 7 ir 7.1.1 rom comes by, not loosing other time.
I agreemthere is a lot of confusion between the various roms and regions.
This news about the update and the video is very similar to the fake... Just why from such an ordinary case as an update do such a stupid circus?
