Stock 4.1 based ROMS... discussion, recommendations, etc...? - LG Nitro HD

I've been away from XDA for while and in that time dev work on the ported LG 4.1 has gone nuts... Rather than clog up the development threads with general info and questions, I made this thread over here.
So... Which version are you running and why? What works/doesn't? Does the new hangouts apk work well on it for SMS? Battery life... How has it been?
C/N: I am confused about which to flash, help plz!

[Q] ???????HELP!!!!!

I've been looking at a few ROMs but I'm not sure which I like most, so i thought i needed to learn to make one....any help would be great....I want to have the new gingerbread 2.3 in it as well.
slellll checck?
is that better
It is probably a bigger undertaking than you are imagining.
To address your 2.3 req, the only thing you are going to be able to use is the aosp code, and not a sense based rom.
To address the getting started question, i would begin by search in the q&a as multiple people have asked this question so you will find some links to get you started here and in q&a. good luck and have fun!
Stickies provide a lot of info and help me out. As far as ROMs, I would just head to the Dev section and start looking around, trying things out to see what you like. For 2.3, I recommend CM7, it's not totally stable yet for everyone, but has been for me. I'm on nightly 6 and it works fine for me.

[Q] Linaro in Sandvolds ICS ROM?

I do hope Sandvolt will pick up this post, since i'm not able to post in the development forum.
Hi Sandvold,
So i read about this today, and i'm wondering if it's possible to integrate this into your ROM?
androidauthority.com/linaro-android-is-up-to-twice-as-fast-as-stock-android-92831
It's supposed to make Android run faster on ARM chipsets.
Could someone who can post in the development forum refer to this post?
Many thanks!
Greets,
Nielzs
Sounds to good to be true, but would like to see it in sandvolds ics, too. If it works...
lets wait and see...
hmmmmm

[Q] Help needed choosing ROM and Kernel

Hello, I have recently rooted and unlocked my Arc and I am now looking for a Kernel and ROM to start my custom experience with. I do not want to insult or under value the hard work of developers by asking for advice on the "best" ROM, however I find myself becoming increasingly more confused with the options available.
I am looking for a Kernel and ROM that give me JB, no lag, overclocking, good battery life, camera, wifi, bluetooth, smooth operation non beta and is more interesting then the stock ROM. I am not a gamer and rarely use HDMI.
I have searched XDA and have read so many opinions and spun around so many times that I now find myself looking up my own arse.
Could someone let me know what has worked and continues to work for them.
Cheers.
These threads get closed for a reason. Stick with the stock ROM or read the dev threads and choose. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147836

Avoid AOSP roms!!

The thread is for users like me that i want it to try an aosp rom but i didn't know that it will ruine my GPS and the only way to fix it again is to go back to stock rom and again to root rom! So please if you don't want to loose your GPS don't flash AOSP roms!!! Only Touch Wiz.

This was a wasted and unnecessary thread, as well as naive and immature.
As far as we know, you did something incorrectly in your endeavor to transition from stock to aosp. Do not blame your mistake, a system error, bad download, etc on an aosp operating system that millions of phones have been flashed to and are running fine on.
My wife updated her stock S3 from ICS to jelly bean and had GPS issues for weeks. I had to wipe the whole phone and start over for her.
I would feel stupid if I was you.

It is a thread for newbies that they don't know the problems that an AOSP rom brings! I don't blame anyone dude i just want to warn people if you feel stupid for this so me too. And if you seek you will see many more people have problems from aosp roms so immature is your post ok?
I've been using AOSP based ROMs since October and not once have I had a single GPS issue. Sounds like there was definitely a user error. I don't think developers would release a ROM that knowingly disabled your GPS capabilities
I have been using Vanilla RootBox for months now with no issues whatsoever on my Galaxy 4g Touch. I don't understand why you say they ruin your GPS?

As i said before just look and seek about GPS problems there is a whole big thread about it....So and because every phone behaves different from others it's not bad for the users to know it.... I haven't a problem with Aosp Roms or developers i think they make great work. I just say my personal bad experience that is sure became from an aosp rom. Many people have the same problem. I think the forum is for saying the problems and to provide help for our problems....So why i am taking attack? Did i anything bad?

You feel attacked because no one understands your ignorance.
You you had a "personal bad experience" but tell everyone on xda, via this thread, that AOSP is broken and touchwiz is the only way to go. You obviously are overlooking all the posts concerning stock firmware issues. I'm assuming you're also judging an operating system (4.2) that's still in it's beta (nightly) stages. Grab a stable release, follow the directions correctly and be amazed...
The post is for users like me that want it to try TouchWiz ROM but i didn't know that it will ruin my GPS and the only way to fix it again is to go flash another ROM! So please if you don't want to lose your GPS don't flash TouchWiz ROMG!!!
sorry, had to vent opposite. i've had GPS issues with every kind of ROM (TouchWiz and AOSP). just be patient. re-flash the ROM, talk to the dev, or wait for a new version of the same ROM.
Aosp roms do not break gps.
Get your facts straight before posting this garbage, there is nothing true about your statement.
Only matter of time for a mod to lock this thread.

[Q] What rom to install?

What are your most favorite roms? Why? How much customization do they allow?
Please, list any suggestions, I'm currently using AOKP but it's kinda buggy (random reboots and no vibrations), so I'd rather get something more stable.
Sense is okay, as long it's standing on Android JellyBean or higher

Hi;
I was just about to post exactly the same question I'm on Android 2.3.5 and would like to upgrade to something that is going to improve my phone and is stable (Must have WiFi and 3G).
Sorry for bumping the thread
Thread moved to Q&A as it is a question. Thread closed as it's a best ROM thread, which is not allowed. Try out the ROMs you're interested in and form your own opinion
