It would appear as though my phone has died. I can't install another rom because it says bad zip, I can't install another recovery because of bad zip, and the constant reboots make this phone crap.
I am probably going to stop using xda, because without a phone, there's no point being on here.

You can manual install, put zip contain to sdcard, and run
dd if=something.img of=device
where something.img is file name from zip
and device is:
recovery:/dev/block/mmcblk0p8
boot:/dev/block/mmcblk0p9
But please make dump of your recovery:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p8
And one of sdcard where you found the problem:
internal sdcard:/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
external_sd /dev/block/mmcblk1p1
PLease do, then I could fix issue with my TWRP.
I think you can use adb for dump
adb pull /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 dump-file.img
Wait, wait.

How exactly would I do all of this?
I got my phone functioning again, but I still cannot flash anything in TWRP, ROMs, mods, or anything.
Now, if all of the things listed above are things I have to do in ADB, then we will be waiting a while, until I gain access to a computer with my phone drivers installed. (Home.)
So please, if you could, write out EXACTLY what I need to do, then I can complete it when I get home, and post the results tomorrow.
Thank you in advance.

If I cannot fix it, then sure, I guess I would be up for selling it.
I must warn though, I got it second-handed, and the original owner has a pretty bad (but not horrible) scratch in the middle of the screen.

Don't worry, it's a third hand, semi-bricked, 2 year old phone, it's not like you are going to get a lot of cash for it.

Got a slight issue...flashed system fine and messed up trying to customize my bootscreen...anytime I try to mount as a disk drive the phone freezes then reboots.
Only thing I can think of is the 'mount' command in shell. Didn't mean to run the command, but I did. Is there an easy way to fix this?!
I've tried re-flashing the ROM and fixin the permission...neither worked.

Last resort = RUU back to stock re-root and reflash..

Thanks for the help even though I posted WRONG.
I got my issue fixed by using a nAndroid backup..retsored and th issue was gone. I'm thinking the problem happened because I didn't have the droid SDK on my PC..fixed that too!
haha. mount by itself only displays the current mounted volumes. there isn't anything you can do with mount alone in order to render your system unusable.

I checked the forums and couldnt find my answer.
I am rooted and have twrp, and the android market installed. I would like to go back to bone stock.
I can just reset the KF under device right? How do I uninstall twrp?
Thanks
No thats incorrect you dont just reset the device you must wipe well and flash stock I must tell you numerous people are bricking themselves fairly bad attempting to do the same personally I would avoid it just flash modaco instead other than that the method to return to stock is in the second post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452
And actually it might even be a safer approach to revert to stock from a stock like rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916
Bricked beyond all recognition baby!

These are wise words indeed. Installed Twrp and MiUI ics rom and played with it but gave up after day or so and was headed back to stock... battery was/is apparently too low AND I keep getting 2 force close errors for (right after boot) ...
-android.process.acore

(happens right after the UI starts loading ... if Im quick enough I can get one of the homescreen apps to load, but I notice the settings menu item or none of the software buttons for home, etc are there
... then after I click the force close button it just starts to boot again... not enough time to try to get twrp back on to handle boot so I can wipe and try to flash update.zip (the fires stock rom).
Oh well, its only 200.00 and I'll be getting another one I guess. glad it was with this and NOT one of my smartphones I tinker with from time to time. lesson learned about playing with rom flashing when battery is low I guess.

Even if you want to go back to pure stock, keeping/reinstalling both TWRP and FFF are the safest and smartest things to do.

The only mention of ADB is "adb push C:\kfu\software\update-kindle-6.3.1_D01E_4107720.bin /sdcard/update.zip", which you can easily avoid if you don't want to touch ADB.
Just rename your downloaded file to update.zip (watch out for the file extension, Windows hides most of them on default settings), then just copy it into your KF like you do any other file. Do not place it in any subfolder.
Be sure to follow the steps carefully, or else you may end up with a soft brick (fixable).

I have the same problem, but my battery was 100% when flashing back. Is this good night for the kindle then?
It boots in to the 6.2.2 software, but these errors pop up and force close then eventually does a restart. Dammit!

No, that's not all you should do to get back to stock... follow ALL the STEPS. Wiping is VERY important. Ie, don't just rename the file to update.zip and flash it right away, or you'll most likely end up with a soft brick. I was only clarifying that one specific step.

Just a side note after restoring to stock you need to then perform a factory restore as well which will wipe your sd card if all goes well it should smooth out from there

Flashing back to stock will undo anything you've ever done or had on the device, except for the contents of /sdcard (the stuff you've copied to it from the computer).

I've been using my Galaxy Nexus for a month or so, with the official JB ROM (JR30C or whatever, deodexed and rooted) and today I opened Gmail.
That's it. I opened GMail, switched accounts, and my phone has been bootlooping ever since.
I wiped everything in CWM multiple times and reflashed it, and I can't get the phone to do anything else.
Any clues?
Do you have a working nandroid? Have you tried flashing a different ROM?

I do not have a working NANDROID. I wasn't sure about the Internet policies at work, but it looks like I can at least make it on here, I'm not sure I'll be able to download another ROM.
I'm confused though, I mean I know it would help to try as many options as possible (to fix it) - but this ROM has been working for weeks. And the phone died randomly, not due to a recent file change or a botched program. The only boot loops I've experienced before were on the Nexus One, and it was always due to a buggy/bad flash or a corrupted ROM download - this one just developed epilepsy on its own...
Here's my plan, since these are the only things I can manage to download due to restrictions on Internet usage at work.
Factory 4.1.1 takju image from here : https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#takju
Modified ODIN software here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586807
ODIN won't rewrite my bootloader, recovery, or userdata, since I already OEM unlocked, but will reflash a stock image.
EDIT: ODIN won't do anything with my device. Trying this ROM instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801664 was using bigxie OTA before.
is your (sd)storage recognized? thus is a similar symptom to when the stirage goes bad.
Hook the phone up to adb, boot it, and let logcat run. Maybe that will turn something up.

Hmm, you know, I'm not able to find the option to mount to USB in CWM...and just in case I forgot where that is, when I plug it in, I get the "hardware failed" noise from Windows and not the usual friendly "plug in" sound.

Got more than one additional ROM on there via adb/recovery - my clue that CWM hasn't actually been able to do anything since the phone start looping is I'm still getting my custom boot animation.
I'm using the toolkit to reflash a stock image now. What a mess.
Even reflashing a stock image via fastboot did nothing. WTF happened to my phone? Won't stay on long enough to get a logcat
I'm having the same problem as this guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827685&page=2
I just got finished trying to flash 4.1.1 using ODIN. It still shows me the custom animation from bigxie's ROM (which has supposedly since been overwritten 2-4x times).
Screw you Samsung...this phone is a month old, I flashed -once- to rooted Jelly Bean, and the phone dies when I open the GMail app.
EDIT: WTF - I write screw you Samsung, it boots to the Welcome screen! Just long enough for me to see that my files aren't on it anymore, then it bootloops again. And again. Now it's re-stuck in a bootloop.
And now I'm at the homescreen. I can't rely on this thing like this...is my flash dying or something?
Nobody?
It worked long enough for me to re-enter all of my different Google account information and now it's dead again. Now it only flashes the boot animation for a split second for bootlooping.
I'm thinking of a hardware defect.

Mee too. As you can see from my signature, I gave up and bought a One S yesterday night from Craigslist. Feels like a true successor to the Desire / N1. It's nice to finally have an AMOLED screen that actually seems color calibrated after the ugly mess that was my RAZR and my less than perfect GNex. It's a damn shame how much more painless flashing a recovery was on this thing.

This is how I un-hard bricked a T-Mobile Note 3 SM-N900T
Part 1: What you need
A SD Card that is the Same Size as your Phone's internal memory. Mine was 32GB and I used it.
The unbrick image which can be found here: mega.co.nz/#!wxZh3CwR!UU1OBBAHACKHEO0eMK4crHBjKXUKJ7y8-vqjkQGzsMY
A program to put the image on a SD Card which is here for windows users: sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager
The Stock ROM. I got mine here. samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N900T
ODIN 3.04 (this is what I used): mega.co.nz/#!xw4FHBzD!Zw9EMltI0g5AZYspg8aM6hFSXJFiiwCRORMqxoandW8
Part 2: Prep
Get the battery charged to 100%.
Find a PC and plug the powercord (microUSB Cord) directly into the motherboard. NOT ANY OTHER PORT.
Format the SD Card to ExFAT you need from Part 1.1.
Using the #3 Program from Part 1.3, burn the image to the SD Card. Its simple.
Part 3: Turn it on
Put the battery into the phone.
Plug the charging cord into the phone.
Put the phone into download mode by holding: <Volume Down> + <Home Button> + <Power>
Once you are in download mode press <Volume Up> to enter download mode. Now go to part 4
Part 4: Putting the ROM back on
Don't Deviate from anything here or do extras.
Open Odin from Part 1.5.
Press PDA and Select your STOCK ROM from Part 1.4
Wait a min for Odin to analyze the file.
Hit Start on Odin.
Part 5: How about someone get a MOD to fix the links in Part 1
How about someone get a MOD to fix the links in Part 1 as I was unable to link Properly. I am not going to do it because it pissed me off. :silly:
Notes:
Turn it on was just basic as can be, It just popped right on. Per the USB Ports I did use a USB-3 Ports on the back of my machine. I am not sure if that would make a difference or not.
Credits:
Credits are due, but I need to research who to credit again... It is Christmas Eve, and I am going drinking. I will do this on Monday when I get back to work.
So are these the instructions on the other thread I'd say is the original M

system did it automatically. I have no clue why. I do like how it boxed out the parts.
and it is the why you do it from the other thread... I was asked to put links to what I used and how I did it. Nothing pisses me off more than having to dig through a thread looking for the solution. I just put it on top of a new thread. This way people don't have to dig. It does make sense if you think about it.
Imagine how much digging I had to do about two months ago when it seemed like I was the only person in this forum asking about it. Reading the pages in the thread I created answers alot of questions, and has detailed information that could prevent future mistakes that could result in such. Also at the same time actually learning something about the way file system repair and recovery on android can work.
It's all in the way you look at it. I'd open a bag of chips, crack open a beer, and read the whole thing - especially if I could learn new things - no matter how experienced I am.

These are the steps zinnium took in order to get his to work, but the other thread is the original.
The other thread was pieced together from over a month of research and trial/error. We tried several methods, dug up some secret Samsung documents (credit given to those provided), and then came up with the OP solution by finally piecing some things from the sgs3, sm-n900a, and help from some experienced devs.
The important thing is though, that the method works.
Anyway, @OP, the image I have on media fire seems to download better. Take that link from the other thread and post here. MEGA sucks donkey balls IMO. There servers are slow, and always makes you wait forever.
ive never heard of anyone needing to connect the device before it would sdboot, so the following steps arent needed:
Find a PC and plug the powercord (microUSB Cord) directly into the motherboard. NOT ANY OTHER PORT.
Format the SD Card to ExFAT you need from Part 1.1.

(until a slip of a click and I wrote a backup of the NVdata to the EFS... =/ )
But, after I put the sdcard into my laptop, realized there's not nearly enough room to copy the .img to it...
***SO.... How am I supposed to be able to "dd if=/sdcard/unbrick.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1024 count=168960"?
I can't put the .img on the sd? Do I put it on the internal? or do I put it on another sdcard and put it in??
**** ACTUALLY, NVM.... THAT'S what I'm gonna do! XD ha

[email protected]:/ # dd if=/storage/extSdCard/unbrick.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1024

Dangit! STILL can't get it to boot back up without the sdcard in it...? =/
Did you flash the stock firmware in odin...?
Also are you SURE that you have a HARD brick? It sounds like you've got a soft brick which has nothing to do with the method we are using here.

you need to have teh sdcard in there, boot to download mode and flash a full odin tar that includes the bootloaders.
once that's all said and done youll be good

Yes, I'm quite sure. Read back through the original thread, you'll see my description of it.
**Oh, you know what? While I wait for a successful download of complete stock rom, I'm gonna plug back into the box, and see if maybe rewriting the original backup of the EFS will fix it... (It was originally a mis-click that bricked it to begin with.. Accidentally wrote a backup of the NVdata to the EFS 0_o)
Worst case scenario; I end up still waiting for the download anyway! (if I can ever get it to start dl'ing)

That would be AMAZING! I'd really apreciate it. Thanks!
Hahaha! Success!!!! >=p
WOW!!!
I gotta say, when the only Sign of life I got were "QHUSB_BULK" and Google only found FIVE hits relevant, which were all questions about it as well!?! I was pretty distraught. Thought for sure I'd end up having to send for JTAG, or worse, a replacement... 0_o
But Now, Beyond my most wishful thinking, an unbrick method so simply straightforward and effective.... I'm still trying to pull my Jaw back up...
Thank you all; msmercy42, noobtoob, ecs87, aiti1980, shabbypenguin, lm that guy, & especially zinnium (for testing/confirming)!..! And any contributors whom I failed to mention!
Thanks for all your experience and efforts! That right there is why these forums exist...
Hey I appreciate the thanks, you're welcome!! Just glad to help! This is exactly what I started the thread for! Couldn't have done it without the big time developer support, and from Senior members you listed above - we made a great team!! Merry Christmas!

@msmercy42, i really did think you had completed it back on the original thread. It was so goofy when it kicked on right before I read you email that you never got it to work. I was like, what?????
That download sucks right now from Samsung updates. With Hotfiles gone, we are all going to have to get use to slow ass downloads. Mine took like 10 hours and I even paid for one of the services.... TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT.
I still don't get how you thought that as I never once posted that I managed to unbrick mine. In fact mine technically is still bricked as I do not have the proper size sd card at the moment.
I never even implied it

Also a proper dd command in terminal will write the image to the phone, therefore negating the necessity of Odin. However that is entirely by choice. In my opinion, unless you are very comfortable using powerful Linux commands that could damage your phone, thus rendering it unusable - then Odin is a better choice as it is a powerful software flashing tool that can allow you to control multiple functions in a single operation.
I'll throw a N900T Odin tarball I have stashed away onto my mediafire account. It should deliver decent speeds and it won't get shut down for excessive traffic (COUGHDROPBOXCOUGH). Just gotta drag my ass into work today to do it.

HA! I posted the recovery thread via Heimdall here a while back, right before we met through this thread. Within 10 minutes, I hit my "threshold" with drop box. Moved to mediafire and haven't looked back.

Hey guys I want to get into twrp recovery but after staying on the 'entering recovery' screen it will reboot . It worked fine till today and I tried reflashing it to no avail. Any suggestions?

Boot into fastboot and type "fastboot erase cache" then flash the recovery.
Try it with both CWM and TWRP.

Yup. Wipe cache and install recovery again, usually solves this.

I tried this but it still wouldn't boot into recovery. I then tried installing an older version on TWRP and finally it booted properly. I was looking through it and something caught my eye. MY ENTIRE INTERNAL STORAGE WAS WIPED!!! I have no idea how this happened!! I tried restoring from my sd card but it couldnt mount /data. Would adb sideloading a ROM work do you think?

It may or may not. Or if it flashes, you might not be able to mount any data partitions or cache.
Try connecting to a PC, and formatting the internal storage with Device Manager.

Last time i couldn't mount /data i just rebooted into recovery and let it sit for a day then it was fine... when I'm about to try to reboot into recovery though it says "no OS installed, are you sure you want to reboot?" will it be safe to reboot?
I hope you get your issues sorted soon. Don't know what i can contribute to help you achieve that. You seem to have more issues than one, but i like to give you one tip and that is to stay in one thread only. I seen you around now in multiple threads and its getting confusing on your actual status. Please don't take this the wrong way, it's very well ment advice
Cheers.

Should be safe. You won't have an OS, so it will just boot into bootloader.

Thanks for your help. You answered many of my questions and were very patient with my questions. I regret to say though that my phone is now bricked. Only bootloader will show up, recovery is a black screen and so is bootup. This wouldn't be so bad if my /data is still corrupted after everthing i tried and no computer will recognize my device. I will come back to xda when I actually know what I'm doing and when my phone isn't as valuable. Thanks again for all your help.
Not sure if this is a similar issue or not but I had some issues getting into recovery after doing Sunshine S-Off today. Had TWRP installed and working fine, but after doing the s-off exploit I would see the recovery screen for a split second before the phone would reboot normally again.
Even running fastboot boot recovery.img to run it directly wasn't working.
However, downloaded and installed CWM instead and all is fine again. Phew

Its not bricked if the screen comes on. I sincerely think we can get this thing back up and running. A phone that doesn't work isn't "valuable" so you might as well keep at it.
Delete all HTC drivers, and connect the phone to a PC. Go to Device Manager, select the option to manually select drivers, and select the generic Android MTP device.

Looks like you solved it. But did you mean you were going to replace the phone? That shouldn't ever be necessary just due to software mods you did, as long as the screen comes on. I've seen only one exception so far, where several users here helped the user exhaust every possible fix to the memory not being mountable and nothing worked, and it might have been a fried emmc chip or similar hardware fault. In your case, I still had plenty of hope, as there were still several options that were not tried.

Control Panel, under Hardware. Also, if you click the Window button in the taskbar, you can just type Device Manager in the "Search Programs and files" area.

No OS is a known issue for some folks on TWRP. It is puzzling, since it only seem to affect some people. TWRP was pretty rock solid and reliable on my past device, so its a bit disheartening to see it appears to be considerably more buggy on the M8.
So is the phone fully up and running, no issues mounting memory?
