ROM help

Is there a place that lists most/all/many of the popular ROMs and their haves/not haves?
I had VaelPak on my old Evo 4g and it had a really neat feature that I could remove all the sliders from the lock screen and use gestures that I create to unlock it. I could also set applications to open with certian gestures. Would love that if any ROMs have it. I heard a while back that one of the CMs did, but not sure if CM9 or 10 have it.
I am looking for a very customizable ROM that can do call recording, I also really like the Samsung keyboard. And I want a ROM that all components (wifi/4g/camera/NFC) still work. also need wifi teather, but I think most ROMs have that.
I did look in the development forum, but many don't list the features and "broken" parts.

Just stick with touchwiz ROMs . and there isn't such a thing as the best ROM. Every ROM is great in its own way and all depends on the user. Touchwiz can do all that you are asking . unsure about call recording. There might be an app for that on the market.

And when you say that threads don't say what their features are. You must not read a lot. Every single ROM I see has a list of features and bugs section.

Whats wrong with something aosp based? Cm10 reached its stable release and runs flawless. even the nightlys of 10.1 are stable as hell for being brand new and expected to have bugs. Touchwiz sucks and lags like hell. Nicks that shiit, you wont regret it. And if youre looking to customize a lot try aokp. Youll spend days customizing it.

LOL Now now. I didn't mean to start anything. I know there will be several opinions and I expect to flash at least 3 or 4 ROMs just trying to not flash 20 ROMs. Takes too long to configure each one.
One question about AOKP. is that a "type" of ROM or is that "A" ROM? Also I find a lot of different things about CM10, but I am still not sure where to get the stable release. I am not interested in nightlies or test versions. And I have flashed my share of ROMs but what are gaps? That is a new one.

Which rom?

Hello all! I have the ATT variant of the Note II and I'm having trouble finding a rom that is like stock android but can use the s-pen. I'm not a fan of Touch Wiz. Can anyone help me out? I have also looked around and check some of them out before any tells me to go some reading...I'm not a rookie at this...I just want a straightforward answer lol. Thank you!

This belong in the Q&A section.......plus I believe the spen is tied down to touchwiz framework pretty much.
Edit: guess im wrong. Never used an aosp rom on my N2. Thx for clarifying CD

I'll say this I've tried many. And I always come back here. But I've always been a fan of darker themed Rom's which is better on battery life. IMO And the Oled loves to run black background's.

I'm running CleanRom ACE right now, I"m still on the fence about it, it does have some minus bugs.

Really, no one can give you a straightforward answer without knowing what it is about the S Pen you want to keep. The air view and the like? If so, JediROM has those TouchWiz features as I recall. Otherwise, just about any ROM for the SGN2 will work.

Wow that is a badass ROM, I am using right now CleanROM, I have been rooted for about 7 days and its my first time, I might give this a shot soon, that just looks too nice.

Trust me it is very nice. Your phone will love it! Especially with all the Inverted Apps! And another side note. We have a fully functional GOOGLE WALLET. But there's not enough I can say about this excellent master piece.

NFC Issue
I've rooted my GNII, I'm still with the stock ROM, and have GoogleWallet. I have an NFC that happens every so often. Mainly when I run my camera app, music player app, and GooglePlay. My phone will freeze for about 5 secs then a window pops up saying "unfortunately, NFC service has stopped". I have tried multiple "NFC Fixes" by flashing them in CWM and manually moving the files in Root Explorer with no success. GW works fine along with everything else. It's just horribly irritating. If I flash JellyThunder, will this alleviate the problem?

And I'm wondering what caused your problem in the first place. I bet it's how you got Google Wallet working on your stock firmware. Because I seen something b4, about changing/fixing your nfc file.:what: In order to get wallet working! So I didn't try it. And when Jelly Thunder came out and said Google Wallet worth no problems. I was very excited, with everyone eke that wanted it.
So all that being said: I WILL SAY THAT I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WYETH THIS ROM WHAT SO EVER!
So I would try to do a clean wipe of your system. Then install the Rom and give it a few days to c how it quirks out for you. OR you can just wait for the NEW RELEASE COMING SOON! !:thumbup:

WOW your right.... so sorry about that.... out side sun and auto correct is not good.. any how what I was asking was if there would be any developer interested in continuing the work done on a touch wiz Miui rom... this is the thread its located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2071480 ... They had one on the skyrocket way back if I'm not mistaken.. But I didn't like it. Not for me!!!
But never heard of any for our GN2 phones tho. Well I haven't looked for any cuz I wouldn't use IT..

I could have sworn the one he is talking about was TW, the dev even says to use a TW kernel with it. But at the same time it had the bug where when the other person hangs up you get a FC with phone

If I wanted miui I'd buy an iPhone

There are 2 different versions in the at&t thread. The cm edition is by far the better of the 2 and very few bugs. Some report MMS not working but I do not have this issue. As for the tw version, there seems to be quite a few different bugs other than the afore mentioned 1.

I've tried both and I think the TW version has some advantages. As mentioned, it has working s pen and other sammy apps but it also has better bluetooth, sammy camera and working miui torch. There is a fc when the other person hangs up first but it's a minor irritation that only lasts a couple seconds. Battery lasts longer and volume is much louder with out installing a custom kernel.
I used to kinda despise miui but this new v5 is making me take a second look. Per app permissions is a pretty cool thing if you got a kid. And because it looks like iOS, it takes a little getting used to for hardcore aosp types but the clean, light look is somewhat appealing. Heck, I'm even researching Xiaomi phones cus it looks like you could get one pretty cheap. Bleeding edge? Not quite but pretty good bang for the buck

Yes i would love to see an updated version of TW based MIUI i tried asking one of the devs who ports it for the GT-N7000 but couldn't help. Unfortunately i own a small business and don't have time to learn how to do it myself.
I did make the changes to EmotionMIUI_V2.6_AromaEN_3.7.5 And got it to boot but with errors and of course no lte
As for the MI phones I just checked on GSM Arena they all have quad band gsm and HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100, no LTE

its interesting how a dev will swoop in, make a nice miui port, work with it for awhile, then disappear...its happened several times with various phones over the years, and it appears the same thing is happenning with this phone....
I know that we shouldnt expect anything to go on forever, but its sad for us MIUI fans to get pumped when a new release comes out, then after an update or two, the dev disappears and the rom just dies...
and, I agree with Johnny, that the current 10.1 version is MUCH better than the TW version; however, it appears that after the first release, the dev working on it cant get the update to boot....

Big D has always said he gonna take his time and do it right. I don't think it gonna be anytime this week or next.

Yeah... I had initially set an internal goal for around Halloween, but it's not looking like that will happen. I'm entirely too picky with things, but to be fair I was pretty open about how it will take me a while to get things together.
I'm not huge into teasers or anything but I can drop changelog-esque updates here and there so people see how things are progressing - if folks are interested. No worries if not

Bacardi im surprised you dont like the stock ui. It kinda grew on me. Ive always had black apps on my n2 as a matter of fact every app that Team Blackout makes is on my n2. A bit of a pain to keep them updated as Google has been spitting updates out for their apps like I change underwear these days (once a week) but I love tinkering so it didnt bother me. Now with my n3 im actually liking the white dialer, sms, keyboard. I think this is the best keyboard ive had experience with on any samsung phone ive had.
I'll most likely change my mind tho once Alexia eeleases some of her magic. Happy right now tho.
Ive been going crazy anticipating Tweaked but calmed down a bit after realizing; let everyone expose and resolve all the new bugs in other roms and even stock for that matter thisway Dwitherell can incorporate them in Tweaked and when released it should be pretty much perfect like previous builds.

Anyone know how to get rid of all the letters that pop up when you long press a key on your keyboard? I just want to be able to use the symbol associated with the particular letter when I long press not 5 different letters from 5 different languages. I thought maybe I had more languages installed but it seems like I only have english. So what gives? Really slows down typing....

Guys im working on a debloat list but its taking me a little time to complete because im removing only a couple apks at a time and rebooting as to avoid issues. When I first got the phone I removed a bunch of apks at once and when I rebooted I was in safe mode and had a ton of issues and had to rebuild. So it might take me a day or too but if anyones interested ill post it so you can follow the list if you would like to do the same safely, even when Tweaked is out.
Fyi i created a folder on the root of my ext sd card called System Bloat. Im moving all the apks in there just in case I need them later or if something poses a problem I can move it back easily.

Loved the wallpaper selection in Tweaked, my personal favorite being the gangsta android with his arms crossed. Anyone have that since I mentioned it? Other than that, no worries, loved it the way it was.
Would be cool if some modified version of the air command pop up were implemented when the pen is withdrawn.. Definitely can't wait

So is this with Data off? With Wifi calling on/off?
I have yet to have an issue with Mms on any combination of data/wifi/wifi calling - I wish the rhyme or reason to the variability was known on this one.

I'm running this rom. It's pretty smooth. 1st try flashing had a bad download. Retried after downloading again and aroma started. Works well. I flashed Rin's new kernel and will give an update on battery life. FYI:after flashing kernel, the kernel info doesn't change but in faux clock, it shows Rin's kernel. I like it because the CIQ for T-Mobile doesn't have to be removed. No more T-Mobile boot screen, just the LG logo.

I like it because the CIQ for T-Mobile doesn't have to be removed. No more T-Mobile boot screen, just the LG logo.

Before flashing this rom I was using Zone + Sky Dragon, after flashing this rom (without flashing kernel) kernel info still Sky Dragon and in Faux clock also.
I like mini view best, I even never know about this G3 feature before.
Btw, do you feel the lastest Rin kernel a little lag?

Mine has no lag. I have my settings the same as the developer of the kernel though. What is mini mode? How do you use it?

Sorry. Not the developers settings on the kernel but someone posted their settings in the last 5 pages of the kernel thread and I set my kernel to those settings and there is no lag. Really quick.

How is this rom compared to zone? Is it snappier? How's battery? Is it worth flashing it?

I've been running all day today and it runs smoothly. I am using Rins new kernel and have it setup pretty good and undervolted. It is just as snappy as zone and no carrier iq to remove. Has more unlock animations and an animation like on the G Flex to let you know the charging cable is connected. Mine has been unplugged since 10 am and with heavy usage is just now at 58%. Just my opinion and opinions vary so try it out and I think you'll like it.

If you flash a kernel though, in the about phone settings it still reads that it is stock kernel but in fauxclock app it will show the kernel you flashed. In one of the Rin's posts it shows what settings I used to set it up. I really like the Rin kernel and hve not experienced any of the lag likenother people have complained about after i set up with those settings. Hope this helps you out. I'm sure other kernels will flash. I even flashed the volume louder fix with no problems. Good luck and enjoy.

MAKE SURE it is good download though. I flashed first time with bad download and thought it wasn't going to flash. I downloaded again and worked perfectly. There is no T-Mobile load up screen, just an LG one so don't freak out. Make sure you choose 851 variant in aroma installer though.
