Just updated galaxy note 8 to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 ( I originally thought it would be 4.3 ).anyway At startup it asks for info that requires input from the keyboard. But says “unfortunately android keyboard has stopped working” .can’t continue. Had to flash back to 4.12 any ideas
Did you flash the wrong gapps? I had this same problem when I accidentally flashed 4.2.2 gapps instead of 4.3 gapps. So I booted to cwm recovery and I wiped data, cache and dalvik cache and flashed the correct gapps and the rom again.
So I really think your problem is because of the wrong gapps.
If you updated from stock (samsung's update android) then I don't know how to help, you could try flashing the original firmware with your computer.

Thanks, that was the problem, downloaded an earlier date of gapps. Works now. Thanks again

Generally whenever I install a new rom (update or not) I will use the following steps:
download rom / put on sd
Wipe data / factory reset
Wipe dalvik and cache partition
Format System
flash rom
flash gapps
Reboot
This has always worked without fail and in this case it seems to have worked again.
However, I noticed in my settings menu that I no longer have "launcher options" under interface. Has this option been removed from the newest nightly? or has something gone wrong during my flash?
Used:
clockwork-6.0.1.2-d2att
cm-10-20121111-NIGHTLY-d2att
JB-4.2-Gapps-signed.zip
Phone:
Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH 1747
Carrier: Bell
EDIT: Also receiving: Android is upgrading, starting apps on every single reboot. Still loads fine but minor annoyance.
EDIT2: Figured it out, installing the 4.2 gapps was causing all problems. Reverted back to the 4.1.2 gapps and everything is fine. Thread can be closed.
SOLVED!
Could I ask: Did you have to reflash the ROM to fix this? Or just flash an older version of the gapps?
I have the same problem and just got all my apps back ... would rather not have reflash the ROM and then restore everything if I don't have to.

You do not have to wipe data if the rom is the same. Just wipe cache/dalvik and then reflash rom/gapps 4.1.2.
Installing home2launcher will also wipe away your option of launcher under settings. Which is unfortunate.

Hi
I upgraded my hboot to 3.1 so i could enjoy the InsertCoin jelly bean sense ROM, but now I want to go back to the cyanogen 10 stock jelly beam ROM and I'm having no luck. Is there something special i have to do to get it working with hboot 1.31? Is it even possible? It just restarts itself during the animation boot sequence at the start.
I have done a factory reset and wiped all the caches and formated /system before updating the ROM.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

If you have hboot 1.31/1.33 already , just download the boot.img and the ROM . Flash the boot.img then , do a full wipe ( cache , dalvik cache , factory and format system ) then flash the ROM and you're good to go .
You have to use another boot.img, not the one in the rom. It's posted in the bottom of the op in tbalden's thread for official cm10. Gps doesn't work with that though.
Hi, I recently helped my friend flash a 4.2 ROM and my friend doesn't know how to use it and says it's too complicated because it's not Touchwiz. So I said okay I'll flash you a 4.1 ROM instead. My question is, I'm just being safe and sure, is it okay if I Nandroid restore the 4.1 stock rom she had before I flashed the 4.2? Or does some stuff screw it up, or from what I also google searched; you have to flash the boot.img? & if I cannot restore, is it okay if I flash a 4.1 ROM but I'm on 4.2 now?
If anyone can help me answer this, it would be great because I'm not so sure, and I don't want to screw my friend's phone (I only use 4.2 and have no plans to downgrade lol)
Factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik restore backup. Wipe cache and dalvik, fix permissions. Reboot.

Remember 4.2 ROKS create a folder called 0 that stores all your data so if you go back to and can't find stuff..its there

You should be able to flash the full 4.1.2 stock odexed or deodex ROM over your 4.1.1 without issue. However, depending on how many hacks you've got in place (frozen apps via Titanium, etc?) it may bark and cause some problem. But generally speaking. If you have all apps unfrozen by third party apps (disabled in App manager is okay), you should be able to do a "dirty" flash of the new full 4.1.2 stock rom without losing a thing.
This is the typical method for a "dirty flash" with a custom recovery such as CWM.
1. Download files (ROM and Baseband FW) and put them on you external or internal sdcard.
2. Reboot into your custom recovery
2. Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache
3. Flash Firmware
4. Flash ROM
5. Reboot
Hey guys sorry about my English but. I would like to share how I fix my gps issue.
I was flashing almost every Rom that came out and didn't notice that my GPS wasn't working. I followed every guide. Flash via Odin to stock!!! Didn't worked..
How to fix it
1. Download Vanilla Root box Rom. located in original android development.
2. Download latest Gapps provided in the same thread.
3. Clean flash via recovery rom and Gapps.
4. Let the Rom boot. Install maps from the market.
5. Try to navigate
6. If Gps it's working go back to recovery and Dirty flash your TW Rom.
7. Wipe dalvik, dalvik cache, Factory Reset. Let ROM boot up and GPS WILL WORK AGAIN!!!
I'm just trying to help
Have a great day!!!!
