So I'm not 100% sure what happened to tell you the truth. I rooted without issues.. flashed a ROM.. still no issues.. Went to switch ROMs, wiped all cache, and than my phone was getting FC on EVERYTHING...
I decided I'd try and unroot and reroot.. but I'm stuck. I can now get into my phone without FC's.. but still no signal or Wifi. During this process of freaking out... I tried to relock my bootloader. so it now says "relocked." I can get into recovery to flash a different ROM.. but I'm getting an error about permission.. I'm assuming because the bootloader is locked...
I'm completely stuck... hopefully someone is able to lend a hand. My main machine is a Mac... but I do have access to a Windows if need be.
Any help would be appreciated as I'm now back to using my iPhone
Thanks!
Anyone?
I'd be willing to pay at this point.
Try wiping everything

It sounds like you just need to do a full wipe instead of only wiping out the cache and dalvik.
Anytime you switch rom's, you will want to do a full wipe of cache, dalvik, data, and system. You don't need to wipe your sdcard though, in case you were worried about anything saved on there.
I tried a full wipe as well..
But since I'm "relocked" for the bootloader.. I can't even reflash a ROM..
And I can't unlock it since I'm not on a stock rom
I worked with her one this via LogMeIn last night. I have a TMo HTC One rooted and SOFF, plus ive been in this for over 4 years now, so I have a lot of knowledge here.
Basically, she ran the exploit, but forgot to nandroid before flashing a rom, and i think the rom zip was corrupt. So if anyone has a VZW nandroid stock backup, this is worth a shot in restoring her phone. She has the TWRP installed, but cant flash a new ROM or even stock ROM because she gets an error message. Since her bootloader says Relocked, we think this is why the ROMs wont flash.
I tried to install the Rom.zip via RUU mode, and she gets a different error message than the thread to follow the guide to restore. Once again, i dont know the error off hand, but i can have her post it if necessary once she gets home from work. The Rom.zip's MD5 matches, so its completely good, just wont flash. The phone goes into bootloader and fastboot and recovery all fine. It boots into the phone, but she cannot access her Wifi or Mobile Networks. She said she might have ADB access though.
I told her to try to rerun the SOFF exploit, but it failed. I only assisted her via LMI and SMS messaging, but her phone does work outside of the OS. I had her try HTCdev for the hell of it and it doesnt work.
I dont know if a nandroid backup would work because of the fact that her bootloader is "Relocked" now, but its worth a shot. If she can restore the stock rooted system image and data, shell be fine. The kernel works, the bootloader and recovery work. Fastboot commands work as weel. So i think if someone would be nice enough to upload the nandroid for her, it could resolve her problem.
If she has ADB access, then i dont see why doing the current method to return to stock wouldnt work since that method uses ADB to relock it or whatever that command is.
Just trying to assist my friend,
So it's "re-locked" - is it still S-Off?
Have you tried the decrypted RUU ?
---------- Post added at 06:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:31 PM ----------
Actually, also check this thread (it's still short! ) - looks like you might be able to get it to show the bootloader as unlocked again - at which point (I think, anyway, based on my reading so far) you could run the RUU and that should get you back to normal...

I appreciate the help.. I did get my bootloader to go from "relocked" to lock.. and tried the "return to stock" post... but I get this error..
Sarah--MacBook-Pro:desktop sarahx1224$ cd root
Sarah--MacBook-Pro:root sarahx1224$ ./fastboot-mac flash zip Rom.zip
ERROR: could not clear input pipe; result -536854447< waiting for device >
Since shes now Locked again and S-ON, Im going to walk her through flashing the system.img file via fastboot. As long as we can restore her system we should be good here.
Last night, we tried but the md5 of the raw system.img file did not match. After downloading it again, the md5 still did not match, but weirdly enough, it was the same md5 as the first download.
When she gets off of work, we will try again to flash via fastboot.

Hi all.
I'll start by saying I have gotten in way over my head. I rooted my Evo with unrEVOked's one-click method, and then began to experience some problems with my 3g. Thinking I had somehow botched the rooting process, I tried to unroot using the two-step method I also found on xda (cannot post link.. further proof I am a noob ). More problems sprang up, one thing led to another, various fixes were tried (HUGE thanks to everyone in the IRC channel last night that tried to help my sorry ass..) but to no avail.
Here is where my phone is at now: booting using vol down+power shows me S-ON. Trying to flash mtd-eng.zip results in an error, so I am seemingly stuck with S-ON. Normally I would be happy about this (that's one step closer to unrooted, right?) but I notice I still have Superuser in my apps. My 3g is working again for whatever reason (no complaints here! maybe it was a Sprint-side problem in my area.. what timing!) but I'm confused as to whether my phone is rooted or not.
Ideally, I would like to go back to unrooted, since I have made it abundantly clear to myself that I am not yet prepared to embark in rooting. If anyone could guide me in the right direction, I would be very thankful.
You no longer have root access. Nothing you do at this point will allow you to run a .img on your own.
Your best bet would be to try and run one of the RUU programs to get it all back to stock.
I don't know if the Superuser application will be removed by this but you can try it:
Go to Settings>SD & Phone Storage>Factory Data Reset
Your phone should reboot and may have erased the Superuser app.

I did this, and my phone is now in RA-evo-v1.8.0 (it rebooted into recovery). Should I reboot the system now? I find it strange that it took me here in the first place.
The current PC36IMG that is flashed to the Evo is one with Amon Ra built into it.
The only RUU program that I am allowed to run (from the list that was given out in one of the unrooting evo threads) gives me the 170 error before anything happens.
You don't have root access, but your phone still has a custom recovery (Amon_RA) right now. No way to get rid of the custom recovery now except through an official update that replaces the recovery file.
Like I said you can try to run one of the RUU Official updates found in the Developer forum.
Don't know your location, but if you post it, someone close to you might try to help you out in person.

With a little digging and poking and reading, I found the proper RUU, ran it, and I believe I am now back to fully unrooted. Thank you very much for your help!
This afternoon my GSM Galaxy Nexus rebooted. It has done this before, so it didn't worry me much. It started the boot animation, and then it never stopped. The boot animation doesn't end as far as I can tell, after leaving it for over 15 minutes.
When this happened, it was simply in my pocket. The last time I did anything that could have caused this was the day before when I flash Francos r93 kernel. At the time I was running Modaco's IR12.
I have tried the following: wiping data, system, cache and dalvik-cache. Installing older and newer versions of both Modaco's ROM and Franco's kernel (in configurations which were stable in the past, but also in new configurations). I've also tried AOKP. None of these things have worked.
A few things I have not tried because I've run into issues:
I haven't yet flashed back to stock. I have downloaded the icl35f ROM from Google, but every time I try to flash it I receive an "Installation aborted" message in CWM.
I have a nandroid backup from a month ago, which I'd be more than happy to restore to, but I've deleted it off of my sdcard, and I only have a copy on my computer. I am trying to push the files back onto my /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups folder, but I'm having issues. I have pushed them back, but at the moment the files are just sitting the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups folder. Do they need to be in a subfolder?
I've taken a log from logcat via adb which can be found here. When I watch the messages come through in real time, the system appears to be initialising for the time that it would normally take to boot, and then all I get are a series of garbage collection messages, roughly once or twice at a regular rate per second.
So I'm asking for some help. I haven't found anybody else with a case like this. I can still easily access the bootloader and recovery screens, yet it just doesn't get past the boot animation.
Please help. I'd love to avoid sending it for a warranty.
Regards
-Nik
Did you undervolt?
As for the nandroid restore; if the folder with the nandroid backup is in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/<NAME_OF_ANDROIDBACKUP> you can restore that using cwm recovery?
edit: <NAME_OF_ANDROIDBACKUP> should be a folder (which contains a bunch of files)
And using this guide you can get your Gnex back to the state as it was in when you 1st opened the box, should that really be neccesary.

I have experimented with undervolting in the past, but at the time this all started I wasn't undervolted.
The part I'm having trouble with is the <NAME OF ANDROIDBACKUP> part. In my infinite wisdom I must have deleted the folder, so I'm not sure what to call it.
I'll try that guide tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply
Hmmm. You could create a folder with whatever name you want (I rename my backups, just don't use spaces and weird characters, I renamed my last one AOKP27), and put all the files in there, and put that folder in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
It might not work though because (I think) the created folder with the backup (named <time.date.year> or something) has a generated md5sum which might not be there now. Not sure about that. But still worth a shot.
As a last resort you could always go back to "stock" and move on from there.

Thanks for that. That was all it needed. I moved the files from the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup folder to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/080211 (the date of the backup) and now it's being detected.
I started restoring the partitions one by one, but when I got to /data I received an error. It happened very quickly after selecting to restore, so I suspect it may have been a checksum error. /data is by far the largest of the backup files, so I'm going to try pushing it via adb again tonight, just to make sure it works.
If that doesn't work, I'm going to bite the bullet and just revert to stock. I'm confident this will fix things, since the phone is clearly not bricked. Is locking and then unlocking the bootloader the easiest way to do this?

EDIT: Found a good tutorial on how to restore to stock. Link for future visitors. I hate it when somebody solves their problem and doesn't describe how.
What happens if you go to cwm recovery, select "backup & restore", then "restore" and then select the folder with the backup you created?
I get errors.
I bit the bullet and wiped. Restored back to stock. It boots fine now, which gives me confidence. It's definitely usable.
Interestingly, every time I install a custom ROM (so far I've tried Modaco's and AOKP) I get back to the old problem.
I've got no idea what's going on. I've posted my logcat to Modaco. Perhaps he can figure it out.
I'm going to try and document my experiences as best I can, just in case somebody in the future comes across this. There is NOTHING more frustrating than seeing somebody with the same problem as you solve their problem, and the person doesn't offer an explanation.
I'm now up and running with AOKP milestone 4. I have no idea why it decided to work this time and not the other times. I did make an extra point of wiping data/factory reset this time around. Perhaps I forgot all the other times and I'm an idiot. but I do remember doing it before.
I hope this helps anyone in the same situation.

Hi Niksko,
I pretty much have the same **** happening. I've posted a thread in androidforums however I'm yet to find the answer. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to my thread there since it contains video and pictures as well.
Anyway, mods feel free to delete it.

Meanwhile, I've tried your remedy. I downloaded fastboot on mac, ran it using terminal, i tried to flash the bootloader first with this command:
./fastboot-mac flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekk15.img
This came up:
sending 'bootloader' (2308 KB)... OKAY
writing 'bootloader'... ERROR: usb_read failed with status e00002ed
FAILED (status read failed (No such file or directory))
Any idea what's happening? I'm new to android and I'm not even sure if what I did is right. I just wanna get my phone gets back running. Hoping to get a reply from you.
Thanks a lot for sharing.

Glad you got it sorted out

I am having the same problem - I've unrooted and flashed back to stock, I even went back to a locked bootloader and restarted from there.
So far I have tried AOKP milestone 4, Gummynex 0.8.2, and one other rom I can't remember. The only thing that seems to work is the rooted stock version which works but it's like having a rocket launcher with no rockets. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

I'm always worried about wiping all my data because I don't want to be stuck in this loop. If I wipe all data and still get stuck, can I manually load to recovery using the power and volume buttons and reset to factory settings to get back to at least a stock rom?
Just wondering whether I should root the device first before flashing to another google images? Or unlocked device is suffice?
Hello All,
Due to my endless frustrations, this might be a long one so please bear with me!
So I purchased a Verizon Global HTC ONE M7 from the States, I am currently in Nigeria and the only thing that makes me sadder and more frustrated than the state of my phone right now is the incessant terror attacks in the country! Initially, almost everything worked fine when i popped in my new Etisalat sim card into the phone, except for the mobile hotspot (which just conveniently turns out to be the one of the top 3 most important features in a phone for me - probably the feature I use the most) this message kept popping up about how hotspot couldn't be used without a VZW sim, etc (also with the non-verizon sim warning when the phone boots up). I tried all I could, eventually deciding to flash a new ROM to clear out everything Verizon and start fresh.
Enter Viperone 6.2.0 - everything worked initially, but after a few weeks i noticed if I did anything like watch a youtube video or download something over a few MBs 90% of the time the data drops (no visible signs like changes from E to H or 3g or the likes, everything looks the same, just that the data stops), toggle mobile data on/off and data connection is back. It worsened and became more frequent over time. Upgraded to Viperone 6.2.1, no difference, so i figured its probably the viperone rom.
Enter Cyanogenmod - http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-oneplus-one-stock-rom-cm11s-verizon-t2857425 - and its the same exact issue from the beginning, so im guessing its not to do with the ROM at all (though there are one or two niggling issues with the ROM - cant change BBM display pic, etc)?! I've really tried to comb through the forum and see what makes sense that i could try without bugging y'all - I did a factory reset, wiped everything completely and its the same thing.
I've seen suggestions to similar issues like: flash stock recovery, update radio/firmware/kernel, flash back to custom recovery and some other things which are beginning to sound quite dangerous in my ignorance!! I did believe updating the firmware made sense but after digging deeper, i must honestly say i'm quite confused on what to do. what radio/firmware/kernel works with what software version, etc- most firmware that i've seen are 4.4.3 compatible, while this ROM is 4.4.4., some of them seem to be for stock ROMs only and a lot of other confusions.
So, I'm not gonna be a hero and brick my phone from trying to do what i do not understand, instead here i am, hat in hand, crying out for help after suffering for 3 months! Its really frustrating as, downloads break causing me to lose data, skype or MSLync calls always break and im beginning to look unprofessional to people! This is why I have decided to put up a post of my own specific to my case so i don't medicate for someone else's ailments. So please........ WHAT EXACTLY DO I DO??
PHONE DETAILS (typing it out as i've just realized on this ROM i can't take screenshots with Power+Home button combo anymore and can't be bothered at this point!!!)
ANDROID VERSION: 4.4.4
BASEBAND VERSION: 1.12.41.1112_2

Have you tried a stock version of sense? Essentially what our phone was meant to run. Viper uses a lot of custom tweaks for the masses, and sometimes carrier specifics get finicky. I would suggest santods stock Rom, bonestock, or ecliptic. I think nusense uses an international base and not strictly vzw, but you could also try that one...and santod can clarify about the details.
Hope you get it going.

Can you flash stock recovery from Santod's firmware thread and do a factory reset? It could be a corrupt nv partition which would only be fixed by doing a factory reset via stock recovery. (If you must, make a nandroid of system and data in your recovery of choice so you can restore your data if you wish).

So.. i found time to get to this and decided to go with your suggestion of Santod's stock rom... and now, i think i've done the unthinkable!! After WIPING EVERYTHING "All partitions except SD!" as the instructions stated... i attempted to reboot into bootloader and got a message saying "no OS installed, are you sure you want to reboot"... that scared me a bit, but i thought surely, it must be part of the process! I proceed to reboot to bootloader to flash the firmware and i cant seem to do anything!!
Fastboot is stuck on " waiting for device" for everything i try.
Also, i rebooted back into recovery and attempted to install the stock rom: i get the error message "unable to open zip file"..
Have i destroyed my phone with my own hands, people? :crying:

FALSE ALARM FOLKS!!! I decided to attempt flashing the CM11 rom i just uninstalled and it worked. Turns out its a known issue with the .zip file for that rom - i am now re-downloading from another mirror. Meanwhile the Fastboot thing was just a driver issue - though i'm surprised because i had all the drivers installed on the system and have used fastboot successfully - anyway i reinstalled the drivers and all was well with fastboot again.
NB: Don't get tired of me just yet please!

If doing factory reset from stock recovery doesn't fix it, it is most likely a burned SIM. It has happened to me. (Average 150+ GB a month in data, so I burn em easily)

Uz has it right, you need to flash a stock recovery and THEN do a factory reset, then reload your custom recovery and rom. I had the exact same issue before. Or you could flash an ruu file which would reset the partitions also.

Hey folks, apologies for the touch and go nature of this thread - i just don't have a lot of free time on my hands and other reasons..
Anyhow, i think I want to try out ur suggestion of flashing an RUU - I noticed that im unable to actually enter recovery after flashing stock recovery from Santod's thread (i flashed the latest three recoveries). I can get to bootloader, but when i select recovery, the phone goes black for a few seconds and then i get the RED TRIANGLE WITH THE EXCLAMATION MARK INSIDE, obviously something's wrong, few seconds later the phone reboots itself into normal mode. I did do a factory reset from bootloader, but issue persists.
So now to the RUU flashing issue - could you suggest one for me to flash?
By the way though, isn't flashing an ruu gonna take me back to stock completely (as in back to S-ON, ETC..)?
Thanks a whole bunch - IM DETERMINED TO GET THIS TO WORK!!!

That is in fact stock recovery man. When you get the triangle press volume up and power at the same time. You will enter stock recovery.
Any of my ruu will run fine. You won't lose s-off or unlocked status. You flash them in boot loader fastboot mode.

To start off, I installed ARHD 22.1 back in December and then upgraded to ARHD 30.1 just yesterday, successfully. I'm S-On, using Taiwan HTC One M8x 2.5 ghz unlocked.
I then decided to add the eXtremeBeats audio mod which is compatible to Android L. I followed the instruction there ( DL File, put to phone, flash via recovery, wipe cache & dalvik, reboot ). At the reboot the problem starts, after optimizing the apps, and then it says "starting apps" there it got stuck, I waited it for an hour and a half and decided to force shut my phone. So after turning it on again, it's now stuck on the HTC logo only. I decided to re-install ARHD 30.1 at that same day, successfully installed but when the phone starts, it says "Unfortunately, HTC Dot View has stopped" then followed by "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped". So yeah, I don't have any on screen bottons on my phone, no slide down notification, but can access apps ( no going back though ). I tried to wipe cache & dalvik again, tried re-installing the ARHD 30.1 again for the 3rd time, no luck.
I searched my problem at Google but mine's different. Their "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped" is like soldemly happening in the middle of phone usage and returning back to normal after some seconds, mine gets that problem at the very start up and the UI doesn't return.
What did I do wrong? What must I do? Thanks in advance!
Edit: I noticed that my OS is missing where it's supposed to say something like 3.28.xxx.x. I wiped everything including system at the time I install ARHD 30.1 the second time (where the problem occurred). I think this might have caused the problem? How do I fix this?
Restore your nandroid and see what happens.

Yes, I'm currently trying to figure out on how to do this. I'm having problems.
I have a Nandroid backup file in my PC. But I don't know how to push it to /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUP/. I tried the pushing file tutorial via mini-sdk and some cmd commands from ARHD's website tutorial, it can push to /data but I can't get it to work on /sdcard ( I tried to >mount /sdcard == gives error ). The other way I know is to transfer the Nandroid backup file from PC to phone normally via the file copy pasting, my computer can recognize my phone having the ARHD 30.1 (w/ UI problem) installed and USB Debugging on, though I can't access the storage or transfer files.
How do I push my Nandroid backup file from PC to /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUP ... ? Any advice please? I think this will solve my issue.

Yes, the syntax for adb pushing a TWRP backup to internal storage can be challenging. If you have a removable SD available, that might be easier, change the save location in TWRP to that. Then make a "mock" backup, purely so that the TWRP folder is created on the SD card. Then either copy/paste your nandroid to the SD with your phone connected to your PC; or use a card reader connected to your PC.
Alternately, you can try to mount the internal storage in TWRP instead of in the OS. That might work better.

Amazing! I understand the first method, but the alternative... can you explain a bit further? As I tap the Mount button at the main page of TWRP, it says "Select Partitions to Mount:", having System, Cache, Data, Micro SDCard, USB-OTG as options. And then nothing else to do, I see no any other button. Clearly I didn't understood the practice, and I google "How to mount internal storage to TWRP" but somehow didn't get any good result. Could you please tell me how it is done or link me to a guide?
Edit: The first method is fine, though I'd like to know how the second one is done. I apologize if you find me cumbersome but I'd like to learn, might come in handy at some peculiar point. I'm curious as what you said that that might work better but I can't perform the latter, it got me really cheesy
EDIT 2: I managed to do the BACKUP. But now it got stuck to BOOT LOOP. I tried to wipe data, cache, and dalvik... but still it BOOT LOOP. What now?
I'm having a similar problem, did you manage to fix it? How? Thanks.
NOT flashing the correct firmware / Kernel is a most frequent cause of SystemUI crashes. Flash the correct firmware/Kernel to correct this.
wth is wrong with my backup?
alright is there a specific solution to this? me and my mother both have the same phone so i took the lollipop backup from her, renamed it like mines and restored it. once i finish the restore and boot up im greeted with ''unfortunately system ui has stopped''. what gets me crazy and confused is that it works perfectly sometimes when i erase the system and everything then when i restore the same lollipop backup and here we go again, system ui has freakin' stopped! this doesnt happen to any other kitkat backup only lollipop.
i have twrp recovery 2.8.02
my hboot is 2.49
i am currently having s on.
i am sick of htc and their stupid s off and on thing like why should we pay 25 dollars i mean android hacking should be open source right? convert 25 $ to riyals and i cold live for a week, happily!!!

Hboot should be 3.19 in Lollipop. 2.49 is Android4.4.2 KitKat
Also, update your recovery. 2.8.7.0 works wonderfully.
Bottom line is you need to update your firmware before you try to restore a Lollipop backup.

Get into ADB/fastboot and do fastboot getvar all
Post the readout here minus your IMEI and serial# (that's private information you should never post on a public forum)
With that information, it will help us to direct you on the proper way to update, and to provide you with the proper downloads for your device.

Why bash on HTC and sunshine s-off ? You unlocked it, flashed twrp.....that's something HTC didn't nor the guys from sunshine. And you don't need s-off, it's not mandatory but it can make it easier.
I would kindly suggest to drop the ignorant attitude towards the wrong people and focus on the problem you have to solve.

That is not a valid hboot number for the M8 (which this forum section is specific to). I think you have a One Max.
But as mentioned, you can't just migrate a nandroid from one phone to another. The firmware needs to match also. Running a LP nandroid with KK firmware is going to result in issues.

Agreed. S-off isn't the problem, and not needed to remedy the previous user's issue. Main problem is lack of research before messing with the phone.
found an awesome solution. i used to have a nandroid of android 4.4.3, so i restored it, didn't do any kind of wipe and then restored my moms nandroid backup of android L. its working great! i have the htc one m7 dual sim m7_cdug 802w
--delete
So I think I just bricked my phone... I tried to update my phone by reinstalling the stock recovery as per this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPPT5J8xG6w
After updating, the phone got stuck on the error screen. I was able to go back into recovery and go back to the home screen. After some googling, I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/ota-lollipop-update-fails-red-triangle-t3015597
So I followed the steps and unrooted my phone and tried again. After the update, my phone won't go past the splash screen. I tried going into recovery and wiping the phone and rebooting, but it never gets past the splash screen. Help please!

How would I flash and RUU? And where can I find a Rogers RUU? I can only find US/Europe RUUs. Please bear with me, I'm new to all this, but I'm trying to read as much as I can.
Bump
I'm trying method 2 as per SneakyGhost's FUU guide, but my computer is not detecting my phone despite it showing up in the "Safety Remove Hardware and Eject Media" tab (Android 1.0). In addition, the phone is showing FASTBOOT USB when connected. Stuck at a standstill right now.
Just an update on the situation, maybe this will help someone in the future - Progress so far - I was able to flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 as instructed a guide on the Android forums (I wish I could post links!).
Working on getting a rom to flash onto it now... I think I'm getting close...

Same issue as you right now. Attempting to download a nandroid backup and then push it to my phone via fastboot and restore using TWRP and see if that works. Let me know how you make out.

I managed to get a nandroid 4.4 backup onto my device and restored it. Worked and now my phone is back up and running and going through the rigmarole of updating apps and restoring my media/data backups.

Fido, but my CID is Rogers001 (same network, probably that's why).
I used this thread as reference.
Downloaded the 3.34.631.4 - TWRP Recovery Nandroid from the CID Rogers001 part. Here's a direct link to the Nandroid backup.
From there, I unzipped the file and then transferred it to my M8 using my SD card (you can also push it straight to the device if using fastboot). I used the file manager in TWRP to move it into my backup folder (TWRP > Backup > Serial Number) in TWRP and then restored it.
Let me know if you've got any other questions. Seems to be working for me right now.

Seems like amazing news. Hopefully this works. Apparently after this is done the OTA has to be applied? Is that your next step? Will you be flashing a rom after your firmware is updated?

Right now, just going to keep things as is. I'm in a location with pretty spotty internet, so downloading 1+ GB ROMs isn't that easy. Probably just keep it so that I can use my device and then tinker on it when I'm back at home. I was notified that the Android 5.0.1 update is available for download, but right now I'm holding off doing anything else.
I'm just glad I got it back to working order now.
Here's what I got told to do:
If you want to properly update your firmware via FUU, you have to get to a stock rooted rom, stock recovery, s-off using Sunshine, apply the SuperCID mod, and then update your firmware. After that, reinstall TWRP and whatever modern rom.

After doing all this, I tried updating the phone from the Rogers pushed update. Unfortunately, that pushed me back to step 1, where the phone wouldn't boot up, so I had to start from scratch. Now that I have SuperCID, I'm going to try to apply a stock OTA from another carrier. Wish me luck!
So I started from scratch and the Rogers update just doesn't want to work. Every time it updates, it would show the red HTC error icon. I ended up taking the update off the phone's internal memory, as it could still boot, and pushing it via Method 2 seen in this guide as a reference. After pushing flashing (it took two times), the update finally installed, BUT it STILL GOT STUCK AT THE DAMN BOOT SCREEN.
At this point, I got frustrated and went straight to flashing a custom ROM as per the instructions given here. After long moments of waiting, it finally started installing. Very important to note, but I got stuck at the AROMA installer at the "Please Wait" screen. After pressing the power button and vol up, the got out of that screen and continued to install. Now I have a custom ROM, updated firmware and SENSE 7.0! Amazing. I hope that this post helps you in what you'll have to do next!
I blame Rogers for pushing out s***ty updates. But consider this problem SOLVED.
