I successfully installed the TNKernel and the Terok Nor ROM on my rooted GT-N5110, but my 64GB MicroSD card was not recognized even when I reformatted it externally as exFAT. I had to format it as FAT32 to make it work. Is this a known issue with the Terok Nor pair, or might there be something else going on? Thanks. {ProfJonathan}

Hey guys total noob here to android and flashing ROMs. I rooted my phone and flashed to TuchMi S3X 5.0. First installed 3.0, then went to 5.0. In both builds, my SD card wouldn't mount, i'd get a message saying "Preparing SD card" in the notification bar, then "SD card is safe to remove." When attemping to mount through Settings, nothing happens, and I can't mount in recovery either.
I've tried reformatting every which way I can think of, but still no luck. The same card worked fine in stock.
Any tips? I've searched all over the place but couldn't find anything pertaining to TuchMi S3X and external SD cards not mounting.
So i've determined that the issue is with the exFAT file system. If I format the card in FAT32 it works fine, but this is a 64GB card, and I want to use exFAT.
If i let the phone format the SD card when it is unformatted, it uses exFAT but the card STILL isn't able to be mounted...do I need a custom kernel or something?

So bottom line the card still showed 64GB and worked as long as it was FAT32?
I just got a 64GB Class 10 SDXC card from Sandisk(the sale on Amazon). My GS3 running CM10 reports it as damaged or corrupted. Trying to format it on the phone eds up with a perpetual unmounting notification. My printer says the card is corrupt and two computers (Linux Mint and Mac OS X) will not recognize it at all using a USB adapter. The most success I have had is when I put it in my Atrix 4G(even though it only supports SDHC cards). It got through formatting but the phone locked up immediately after and the card was corrupt upon rebooting. Does anybody know of a solution or should I request a return through Amazon? Thanks in advance!
Gotta format it FAT32 on computer. Windows won't do it. Gotta use a program. I forgot what it's called. Just Google it.

The 64GB microSDXC card comes formatted as exFAT, which isn't supported by AOSP kernels. Using a 3rd party Windows program or a phone that supports exFAT (ie. your Galaxy S3 running a stock/custom Samsung ROM), format the card to FAT32 and it should work properly. You can also try formatting the card to NTFS and using ktoon's test kernel, which has NTFS support.
I recently bought a brand new sandisk 64gb micro sdxc card for use with my e4gt. When I put it into the phone the phone reads it, but will not give me the option to format it. The only option I have is to mount it, but when doing so it just says it is safe to remove which shows that it is not mounting properly. Should I try buying an sd card reader and formatting it on my computer? Or what else could I do to get it to work? Also, it is running stock leaked GA10 rooted.
I have the same micro sd. For it to work on the phone (for me), I formatted it to fat32 and it worked. Most recently I lost my old card on a trip, bought a new one, I formatted it again to fat32, tossed it in the phone but the phone didn't recognize it, but gave me an option to format it which I did. Then it worked. It might have a bit to do with roms too (I was on stock, then moved to a CM rom)
So you formatted in on your computer? If so which sd card reader did you buy? Could you post a link if possible? And thank you.
Just use any sd adapter and use the format32 gui from Ridgecrop. Roms or builds shouldn't matter once it's properly formatted and mounts.
I have the same Sd card. Sniper and Avatar turned me on to that utility.

I am having problem with my SanDisk 32GB Ultra. If I format it in phone it gets formatted as FAT32, which I won't use, for it's 4GB file size limitation. And if I format the card via my PC to exFAT the card is not being recognised on phone! So what can I do? How can I format it to exFAT and that it will be recognised on my phone, without any problems?
Advises are very welcome.
PS: Never mind, it's the custom kernel I was using. Flashing back Stock kernel solves it.
I just purchased a new 64GB SanDisk SDSDQX-064G-A46A micro SDXC card from Newegg:

The card works fine in my S3 and in my PC, but it will not mount in my S4, not even from Clockwork Recovery. Both my S3 and S4 are running the stock ROM, but the S4 is rooted where the S3 isn't. I went to the local T-Mobile store and while they didn't have an S4 to test my new card in, they did have a Note 3 which mounted my new card just fine. Additionally the 32GB card that was in the Note 3 mounted just fine in my S4.
What is going on here?
Format the card to Fat32 on your PC and see if that works.

There is no option to format to FAT32, only exFAT. Additionally, from what I read here Windows cannot format FAT32 volumes lager than 32GB.

A bit more reading and it seems the kernel that removes the SetUID restriction causes issues with exFAT formatted cards. Thankfully the fix is easy, just needed to install this exFAT module from recovery. The entire process is described here.

There's plenty of software to format the 64gb card to Fat32. I'm running a 64gb card in Fat32 format right now.

shouldnt need to format to fat32 i have 2 diff sandisc 64g cards in tmobile s4's and they are exfat and work fine.. are you sure you are on stock kernel.. if you change it lots of kernels do not work for exfat.
I found guiformat made mine work. Same card and I was having issues, too.
