[Q] How to boot into recovery on lt18i

hi, guys. im sorry if im posting in the wrong thread but i need help w/ booting into recovery for my arc s.
ive downloaded and installed CWM but whenever i tap "reboot into recovery", it simply reboots the device and doesnt give the command prompt-esque sceen.
help needed real badly. thanks in advance.

hm... tried that but it just boots the phone normally.
tried just pressing and holding "BACK" and consecutively pressing "BACK" to no avail.

Have you installed cwm from market then installed into phone.
What I mean is cwm has a 2 stage install 1 install app
2 open app and then click install on to phone.
The shut down menu will not show reboot option. you have to shut down then restart manually when you see sony logo press/spam the back button constantly until cwn loads, if this not work try using down volume button again spam/ pressing continually

make sure that CWM is installed correctly

On xperia Arc S you need to press a few times the VolumeUp and VolumeDown buttons as soon as you see the FreeXperia logo. You'll notice that the led becomes violet when you're entering into recovery mode.

got it working, guys.
downloaded Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from market and worked like a charm.

works great

First you'll need a rooted and CWM supported kernel. Shut down the device. Press the power button and wait. When the boot logo came wait for a little vibration. Then press the Back or Volume Down button several times. There you go. You're in Clock Work Mode Recovery.

Hi guys
I have the same question... I want to install a custom ROM on my LT18i and i already installed ROM Manager but it says that requires a custom recovery..
In the option of install or update recovery it says that my device is not listaed. .
Can you help a newbie ???

Flash a custom kernel that comes with a recovery. How to do it? Use the search button. This question has been asked a million times.

my phone is xperia lt18i
i installed cm11 previously, it was installed properly and it had a problem that, battery discharging very fast
later i installed update version of cm11
first i installed zip file in recovery by pressing buttons
later i installed boot.img (karnal) using minimal adb and fast boot
now my mobile had a problem
if i press power button it will show only legecy xperia
if i press power button and volume down it will show only recovery simble (hat)
it is also not varying
can anybody help for this problem
how to go boot loader :crying::crying::crying:

Flash old kernel from 5/2015 build, then make a factory reset, then flash new kernel.

Stuck on first SE logo

Hey everyone!
So my issue is that I am stuck on the first Sony Ericsson logo.
Here is the process I followed as accurately as I can recall to get to this step:
1) Downgrade phone to firmware .42 by flashing it according to this guide:

Everything was great.
2) I then rooted it with zergRush 4. Everything worked great.
3) I then unlocked it with fastboot. Everything worked great.
4) I downloaded Xperia CWM Auto-Installer, installed CWM 5.
5) I rebooted into recovery mode (from Xperia CWM Auto-Installer)
6) I installed Arconium MIUI ROM:

7) I wiped data / factory reset
8) I powered off
9) Is where I am now, I tried to boot up, waited 5 minutes, removed battery, tried again, waited ~13 minutes, removed battery and tried again, looking at 10 minutes now this 3rd time.
I can't enter CWM Recovery since the blue LED only turns on later in the boot sequence.
What can I do to get this unstuck?

Did you flash the MIUI kernel from the rom?

Stuck on SE logo = Bad Kernel
Stuck at Boot Animation = Bad ROM

Boot into fastboot by holding menu button then connecting USB cable, place this kernel in the flashtool folder on your computer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520654
Then flash it and make sure your on baseband 70 aswell, it can be downloaded and flashed like any Rom using flashtool and remember to wipe dalvik, cache and user data before aswell, then reflash the Rom

Q- Arc s stuck on SE boot logo

I have an arc s stuck on the SE boot logo, even after successfull flashes with setool.
Clean board and no damage .
What could be the probleme.?

What did u Flash ?? locked or unlocked bootloader ?

It belongs to a not so smart friend,
so he doesn't know to tell me ...
I know its hard to guess a problem but what could I try?

ok Download Flashtools .
Then Flash a Framework file which is a .ftf file to the cell with flashtools. I think then it will be ok ...

hmmmm....i think its used for bootloader unlocking. ( not 100% sure though )...
just do the things i mentioned & u r phone should b (fingers crossed) running A ok.
Just for your referance of the Frameworks :-
Build no. Android Version
4.1.B.0.431 --> 4.0.4
4.1.A.0.562 --> 4.0.3
4.0.2.A.0.62 --> 2.3.4

Get flashtool download the lt18i firmware and flash it.The phone should be ok after that.Locked or unlocked bootloader it doesnt metter .U can find the stock 4.0.4 ics on the general section of the forum

again the same thing, stuck on logo..
The flash went OK with no errors, but still its stuck on the Logo.

Use SEUS, should do the trick. However, bootloader should be locked and phone should not be rooted.

Got my xperia arc s also stuck on se boo logo ... while i was trying to update it to ice bean 4.2 ... i have no idea what to do now, i tried flash tool but it needs me to shut down device and then plug it in, which i have no idea how to perform with this endless boot loop ... Please help

Pull the battery and try again.

Try to restore Nandroid back-up if you got one through CWM

I think its a boot loop...this might happen due to many reasons..is your phone rooted??bootloader locked or unlocked??
did u install any custom rom?? etc etc..
the solution is simple..just flash the stock rom (.ftf file)..

1. Remove Battery
2. Insert Battery
3. Start Flashtool, select Flash choose a FTF for arc/s
4. when preparing for flash finished press back button while you connect to PC/laptop
5. wait for flash finished and turn on..

SONY logo after custom image
Hi,
I want to flash my phone with a customised image.
Try`d with several different ones here at forum.
My phone is rooted (Flashtools tells me) but no blue led when booting, why?
I have installed x-parts and booted to recovery, then installed Update.zip from SD-card
but when rebooting it is always stuck at SONY screen, why?
After flashing with ftf it is ok again, but i want a new custom image...

I had same problem yesterday after flashed custom rom but i had flashed with LT18i 4.1.B.0.587 ftf nd my phone is started working!!

Stuck on Sony Logo (help please)

Hi I think I have bricked my phone, and I am looking for some help please I rooted and intalled CWM on a unlocked bootloader Xperia Arc S lt18i
This morning I flashed Beautiful ics 4.2.1 via CWM after doing all the wipes date, cache,dalvik,battery and then installed the rom.
When my phone came back on no led lights flashed and the sony logo is stuck on the screen. I have tried going in to recovery by holing down power button and pressing the volume down button but it doesn't work. I have tried connecting phone to my laptop but it doesn't see it any more.
I don't know what else to try,
Any help please.

Best install stock firmware by using Flashtool (or flash custom kernel so you have root already) and start all over again.
Be sure you wipe everything before flashing a new rom.

You get into recovery by pressing the volume button repeatedly when the boot logo shows.

hmm,
i have this same sytuation, be try the PC COMPANION REPAIR option will that fix firmware, but you must make root again :fingers-crossed:

I had exactly the same problem with this rom but with stock .587 fw on locked bl. Installed it using method for installing Ultimate HD rom (Wipe Data/Factory Reset; Mounts and Storage --> Format /System; Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats; Install zip from SD card) and it worked fine.

[Q] Atomic GB Not Booting Help!

Hi,
I tried using CWM to flash Atomic GB to my Xperia Play 800x, and when it gets to the loading screen, the logo thing just spins. It does not work. I tried getting back in the recovery system to restore my phone to my backup, but when I take the battery out, and turn it back on, it won't boot into recovery. I'm pressing the vol down button, but it won't boot to recovery. What do I do? Please help.

Forgot that I could use flash boot to reflash stock firmware. So I was able to start over. Whew...
