That's because the AOSP kernel is not compatible with exFAT. Try without the sd card or reformat to FAT32.

Hi all
I can't seem to figure this out
I passed down my gnex to the wife as I got a n4
Now when i had it there were no issues of random reboots
I have cm10 nightly loaded on it with the cm kernel and its getting random reboots
I cannot find out what it is... I have tried different kernels and still the same issue... I have tried diff ROMs. I tried fitsnugly cm10 and same issue,,.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do... I've tried everything I can think of
Its random as in it happens sometimes when she is browsing or it will jut be sitting on on the table and then reboot without anyone touching it...
Ugh. Help

I would put the last stable release on there, unless u don't mind working on her phone..
Do u format system in recovery when u install and new ROM?
Or maybe install ur nandroid backup and c if that works

Yup
I did a full wipe in recovery before giving it to her.
Actually what had happened is I wiped everything including SD card and it wouldn't boot so i restored to stock via Odin and toolkit. Then started from scratch. Installed fitsnugly ROM etc

Try a different ROM away from cm. Like aokp or paranoid and see if u have the same issues on those.

A full wipe doesn't format system.. U need to go into where u can mount the partitions and format the system partition.. Its worth a shot.. And I'd do a nandroid restore and leave it stock, from my experience my wifey doesn't know how to use any of the extra mods that come with the ROMs anyways, and its just a disaster waiting to happen... But that's just me

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Well wouldn't restoring stock with Odin wipe literally everything? Including partition?
And the current ROM and kernel is stock cm10.1
So whatever the latest nightly is.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk HD
Not sure if it does.. I don't use Odin.. If u do a nandroid restore and see if its still doing random reboots ull know if its a hw problem or ROM/kernel

Hello,

I tried this exact mod a couple weeks ago & could not get it to work. It made my internal show up as both internal & external, and disable my SD card completely. I dunno what I did wrong, I followed the instructions exactly & I have a TW rom too.

Download and Flash perseus kernel, then flash mod again. It should work after that. It does not work on note2core or saber kernels. I only tested on those three.. And make sure you download the correct mod zip as there are different variants depending on the kernel you have and if your sd card is exformat or fat32. I also recommend a format of the sd card before doing all these to start fresh.
Best way is to do a full wipe, flash rom, flash radio, flash perseus kernel and lastly the mod all before the first boot.

I noticed one of the biggest problems with storage is that apps that do save stuff to SD card were still saving to internal storage. For example Titanium Backup was set to save to storage card but was saving to an internal storage folder called "External Storage". That app has specific setting to move the backups which saved me over a GB of space. I'll try ExtSd2InternalSd next time I upgrade ROMs.

Just remember that your "internal" storage actually becomes your sdcard and your sd-external is your internal built in memory... so is reverse.
For example when you use your camera for the first time it will ask to storage on your external..but remember that your external is no longer that but rather your internal, so if you want pics saved on your new "internal" choose no. save to phone.

Got my 64 gig class 10 sd card Monday, and clean flashed Jedi Master 7 with Perseus kernel then this mod and it works great! I have every app, game, emulator, GPS program installed and still have 40 gigs left. Phone runs awesome too. No more storage worries or making room for new apps. I'd recommend clean flashing, it seems like most people who have issues are not starting out fresh.

I already flashed the Jedi 8X and the perseus kernel and I have a few questions:
1. Is it too late to flash the ExtSd2InternalSd mod now?
2. Do I have to do all the steps you mentioned again?
3. I have the SD card formated to extFAT and have a few GB of mp3 files in it. Would those file be wiped after the mod?
4. What would happen if I flash a new ROM in the future? Would I lose all the data in the "internal memory" i.e. the physical MicroSD card?
Thanks

I already had the perseus kernel when I tried this. I guess I'll try it again though. I really wanna get this working. Thanks.
I could be wrong but I think the mid has to be installed after clean flash and before the initial reboot after the Rom has been flashed. I flashed Rom, kernel then the mod then reboot. No issues with this method.

Just move everything from /sdcard/0 to /sdcard
As Android 4.2 has multiple users feature, all data will be on /sdcard/0 for the first user.

CWM doesn't recognise ExFAT formatted cards. Size isn't the problem. If you reformat the 64 Gig card with FAT32 then CWM will see it.
I think philz cwm have ex fat support, just have a look there.

TWRP is always recommended but it's all about personal preference. If you want my opinion I think TWRP is indeed better. It's got a much better UI and a lot easier to navigate, not to mention it's all touchscreen based.

Keep in mind that nandroids are recovery dependant so your current CWM backups will not be compatible with TWRP and same vice versa. If you're worried abput losing your backups what you could do is restore any CWM backup then flash TWRP and backup that ROM you had restored over to TWRP. You can do the same to all your CWM backups if you have any more but that'll take you quite a bit of time to do lol.
