Help With TomTom

Right so i have my Touch HD and i have installed TomTom 7 following instructions:

Can't help you with the freeware (aside from Google Maps, and the missus reading the instructions out loud, or maybe a map!)
To get TTN7 working (this is legally):
Go to this thread to get the link to 7.915 which works on the Touch HD.
In case you haven't installed stuff before:
Connect your Touch HD via ActiveSync
Copy the cab file to your touch (anywhere, I keep cabs I'm gonna install in a folder on microSD card)
On your HD click the cab to open and follow the instructions. I installed to the microSD card and it works fine, but people on here have said it works installed on the device too - whatever floats your boat)
Try running TomTom to check it works (you'll get a warning about having no maps, but it should give you the option to download a mall city map. I got the London map which only took a few seconds to download).
I'd then unplug the HD for the moment. Download the latest version of TTHome (this always give the latest version)
Before connecting your Touch you have to doctor TTHome to recognise the HD. Thanks to Noiz for helping me out here:
Go to C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\xul\chrome and paste this over the contents.
Now you can plug your HD into your PC and TTHome will recognise it.
Finally in TomTom Home or the website buy the maps you want (the USA maps are still down for TTN7 last time I checked, but you can get full Europe, and lots of others still, and traffic and speed camera subscriptions).
Once you've bought them they'll appear in TTHome. It shouldn't (after the Noiz fix) say the map isn't compatible, but it won't install it. It should let you download it, it will go to the download directory (you can set that in TTHome options). Simply go there, extract the zip file to the root of your storage card with a folder the same name as the zip file. Extract the cab file that begins activation in the same folder.
You can now download new cars, voices, mapshare updates, speed camera subscriptions.
Sorry if I've written any of this wrong, in front of a different machine with none of this installed so doing it all from memory and glancing at bookmarked pages.
(None of this work is my doing, I have just got some hints from people on the way and combined it onto one post). All thanks to them!

so i have got to the part where i have added my free map, but i have a quick question before i continue - can i move the maps i have downloaded to a new memory card or will i have to redownload / buy them?
as im using a 512mb card at moment as mine didnt arrive with its 8gb card
you should be OK using a different card, because TomTom uses Device ID (switching Phones wouldn't work) not Card ID
anyone know differently?
okay thank you for the help - i just wanted to make sure before i go any further

Can't get game to work, HELP!

So ehm, a friend of mine has a problem with his A100...
A few weeks ago he downloaded a, shall we say, less than legal version of NFS Shift, and despite numerous attempts at downloading the Data-file seperately, he never got past the "NaN Downloading Game Data 0 of 0MB" screen.
Bummer.
After trying for a couple of days, he saw a sale on the same game, bought it and downloaded it to his phone where it works fine.
The game IS compatible with the A100, but whenever he downloads the legal version to his tablet, he runs into the same problem as before.
Instead of downloading the (legal) game data file, he can't get past the "NaN Downloading Game Data 0 of 0MB" screen, and nothing gets downloaded.
My friend assumes that the cracked version of the nfs.apk somehow blocks or replaces the legal version from working. He has tried uninstalling the cracked version and installing the bought version several times, but so far nada.
Any ideas? Is there a particular file or directory he should try to delete?
Both phone and tablet are rooted, so is it possible to just copy the full game from the phone to the tablet?
Any help appreciated!
how do you know'the games is compatiable? I have tried the same version as your friend.
It's available for download in the market app.
Also, when you go to the www market: market.android.com, you can list which of your devices an app is compatible with, and NFS shows up as compatible with the A100.
(This is the NFS released by Electronic Arts Netherlands BTW. It's been released by a couple of EA-divisions, and a version released by one company, is sometimes compatible with different devices than a version released by different companies.)
I installed the apk that was included on my G2X and it works perfectly.
You could factory reset. It kinda sucks to do just to get a game to'work.
xxx
Downloaded files still doesn't work.
I downloaded the files on an Epic 4g and then just switched the sd card into my A100, and the game still won't work. They are in the correct location but Sim City still tries to download them and doesn't see them on the card.

The acer will not run game data off your sd card (mnt/external_sd) automatically. It has its own internal sdcard (mnt/sdcard) and that's where it stores game data. You will need to copy it in there but which exact directory I'm not so sure since I don't have the game installed. Maybe someone else can reply to that.
If you want to run from your external SDcard you need to use GL to SD app from market. Theres a thread here if you want to read more about the app.

remove the (_)
still a no go. the google play icon isnt even in my apps menu
Are you using a small /system partition? For a full-working system you need a 185mb partition (with mini-gapps) or a 200+mb partition with full gapps. A 20mb cache is recomanded by tilal itself (the dev of CFX). If you came from CM7/MPH/GSF or any other 2.3.x rom, the small /system partition might be the cause of your problems.
Open Terminal Emulator and type df . Then check the "size" of /system, if it's less than 185mb use a TPT in order to resize your partition layout
thanks i am gonna try it soon. because its indeed to small. i let u know this evening greets
wich tpt
wich tpt is needed to do this? because the one on this forum (gen 1 to gen 2) only gives me a space of 160 mb.

Use that only if u are gen 1 but as u can use ics it seems u are gen 2 so use tpt helper from the market and make your own tpt.
How to use it is written in the app or in its respective thread
Reflash your previous rom in order to have a full working system. Download TPT helper from the market, choose your gen (1,2,3, Updated from 1 to 2 with another TPT etc... there are many choice, just choose the right one that fits to your phone.), choose your bootscreen, CWM version, 196 or more mb (i've got ~20 mb free on a 196 mb partition after flashing CFX and mini gapps, so 196 mb is enough for ICS) for system, 20mb off cache and the program will self calculate the size of /data. After that, reboot, do the TPT and flash ICS.

Just backup your data and do complete factory reset/wipe data, cache & Dalvik cache, now flash the most common or latest gapps , reboot & wait few minutes. And you're done. for your info, the mini gapps worked for me without any problem.

thanks. i can now acces the market. greets

Market: "Download was unsuccessful please try again"

I have SuperNova ROM on the phone (Supernova_2.4.0.1_signed.zip). I have root and S-OFF (stock HBOOT image). Now that I have finally found a ROM that expands my internal memory some of the apps don't want to install. So the situation is that most of the apps do install, but when I try to install some of them I get an error message right after the download of the app is complete, and before the installation starts.
This is the error message:
Download error
Download was unsuccessful,
please try again.

One example of app that always fails every time I try to install it, is Angry Birds by Rovio Mobile. The download size is 33.83 MB (version 3.1.0) and right after the download completes it gives me the error that the download was unsuccessful.
What is this? Unsuccessful download? How can it be unsuccessful? I just saw the download complete!! This is more of an installation problem than download problem.
Why does it affect only some of the apps and not all of them?
I thought this had only to do with game apps, and/or apps with large install sizes. But I have installed Benji Bananas (version 1.9) which is 16.88 MB and some other heavy apps without a problem.
Does it have to do with where the app defaults to install? Default install location? Apps that install to SD (support Froyo App2SD) by default? Maybe this is somehow messed up with the App2SD+ and Data2SD that's integrated in this ROM?

Read this:https://supernova.droidzone.in/category/faq/ at 28.
Thanks Tonal! I actually visited that same FAQ page earlier today but I gave up after reading through half of the page. I didn't think that this issue was covered by the FAQ. I didn't expect to find it at the bottom of the page as the last Q & A. I feel like they should move this up to the top, maybe even make it the question number one, as I'm sure others have faced this issue before and it's probably a frequent issue.
Here is a copy of that Q & A for future visitors.
28 Question: I am unable to install large apps (typically >25 MB or thereabouts) on my phone
This is a limitation of Market cache. To solve this, you have to tweak your software a bit.
Beginners: You need to first install an app called Scriptmanager from the Market. Once done, download a script named cacheboost.sh from here. Run Script Manager, and select this downloaded script. Execute is as root (the icon with Skull and Bones must be activated). This script must be run after a reboot, and before you want to install a large app. The changed made by the script are lost after each reboot, though the app you installed remains installed. If you find yourself running this frequently, you may add the path to this script in an init.d script to execute it at every boot.
Advanced Users: Download cacheboost.sh script
Open a terminal emulator or adb shell interface
Code:
cd /path/to/script
chmod 755 cacheboost.sh
./cacheboost.sh
If you wish to load the script at every boot, add a line in /system/etc/init.d/01data

So this has to do with the cache of the Android Market app not being big enough. Go figure!
All of this is redundant however. Because I have solved it by simply manually installing the latest Play Store app (replacement of Android Market). It refused to install over ADB, so I had to copy the APK file to the SD and then open it with a file explorer.
Here's a short how-to.
Download the APK file for Play Store.
Connect the phone to the computer. If prompted, choose to mount as disk drive.
Copy the APK file to the SD card.
Disconnect the phone.
Go to menu, settings, applications, and enable unknown sources.
Start a file manager app (I used ES File Explorer, but ASTRO is good too).
Browse to the file (/mnt/sdcard/) and tap it to open. You'll be prompted if you want to replace a system app. Tap OK to continue.
I have included screenshots and the APK for the Play Store since I had it readily available anyway. But you can also check out this post at DroidLife and follow the download link there. It looks like they link to version 4.0.25. Mine is 4.0.27 which is even better.

No permission for Download Folder in Lineage OS 14.1 on Nexus 5

Hi,
sorry if I ask something that was maybe already answered, but i didnt find a matching Thread. If i am in the wrong section please move the Thread to the correct one.
I have a Nexus 5. Lately i replaced the original Marshmallow with Lineage 14.1. The process seemed to word as I could launch and use it. But when I tried to download something through my Browser i get an error. I tried Chrome, Firefox and Opera, too. When i wanted to copy a File by MyPhoneExplorer into Download Folder igot an error "unautorized". When i try to create a folder in Download i get prompted that I need root.
So I think somehow I dont have writing permissions there. Is this a known thing?
For installing i unlocked Bootloader by adb and flashed latest TWRP (3.0.3.-0) formated userdata and then copied lineage-14.1-20170124-nightly-hammerhead-signed.zip and a gapps.zip.
My old Backup from google was restored, i can use camera, take calls, play games, install apps etc. So I think the installation worked. Any ideas why I cant write in Download folder? (I can write in Movies though, tried it with MyPhoneexplorer)
I also tried the nightlys from January 31 and February, still no change.
Thank you very much in advance.
I had a similar problem with my Music directory, but after a reboot it came good.

I already did several reboots. I also tried to switch back to older images or the latest one. Still no change. You think i should wipe it an do fresh install?
Edit: Did wipe System, Cache and Data before giving it a new try. Now it works.
