Hey guys so i rooted my phone using odin and was attempting to put on cyanogen mod 10.1 when it failed and i restored to factory settings. then i thought ill restore to my previously saved backup and it stayed at the samsung screen that lights up behind the white lettters. now i tried going into recovery mode and restoring to factory and also tried clear cache and delvik cache. only problem is it still got stuck at the samsung screen so i then tried to reroot it on obin but since there was a binary count of 1 it didnt work what can i dooo
binary count wouldn't stop anything from flashing. after flashing a stock rom with odin again, make sure to go directory into recovery to wipe data/factory reset and then boot up the phone.
I got it working then I tried to put cyanogen 10.1 on and it crashed again idno what the deal is I put it on sd card and loaded it with root manager

root manager? or rom manager?
sent from my I747
Don't use rom manager to flash a rom. Odin back to stock (Samsung devices are special that way) or use one of the root injected firmwares in one of the stickies in the development section. Once you get set up, download goo manager from the play store (you must be rooted to use it). From the menu of goo manager install recovery script, you will then have twrp recovery installed. Then follow the instructions in the op for the rom you want to flash. If this seems foreign to you then Odin back to stock and stay there. If you want to continue to modify your device read and read some more. Tony stark has a thread with all the information you need. Just Google search.

It is easy once you do it once. First time can be overwhelming. I'm a visual learner so I found a YouTube video for the phone and followed it step by step. Now I'm almost flashing them in my sleep.

So I know I'm rooted right now on my s3 so do I have to go back to stock and reboot it before I flash a rom? Or can I just do it like in the video now and flash it from recovery mode

Just odin to stock and reroot, reflash recovery, and restore backup

It's only a soft brick. As long as you can get into download mode you can use Odin to return to stock.

If it was bricked you don't get a chance to keep bricking it. Stay with stock until you feel more comfortable with the process.

So playing around with stupid rom manager (should have known better had trouble with it on a different phone) put me in a boot loop where I cant get into cwm recovery but thankfully looks like I can get to Odin mode can anyone point to or instruct how I might be able to fix this?
thanks
Odin back to stock

Cant he just reflash cwm to the recovery and then reflash whatever rom back? Instead of going back to stock and then re flashing cwm?

I was trying the backup functions that started it. I was able to figure out myself to luckily get back to flashing stock rom etc. Now happily running jedi xx

Hey guys, im having a bit of an issue. I cant check for software updates because my device has been modified. Is there a fix for this, even after I Flashed the stock tar file, it still gives me this message :/ I have only flashed one ROM on this device, but since I forgot to make a back-up I resort to using Odin when I want to get back to stock. Now I read on another thread that root could be a cause, so I figured, complete restore with with Odin would help, but instead I get the same message.

You need to use Triangle Away to reset the flash counter.
This thread will show you how to.

There's no update right now anyway from T-Mobile that I'm aware of.
So I need to root again?

Yea, you need root to use Triangle Away. After you reset the counter, just flash back to stock.
I bought a galaxy note 2 off a bloke he said it was unlocked turns out it was rooted! I want to go back to stock but not sure what the original stock rom was I know it's definitely UK but not sure if it's factory unlocked or on a specific network! I've downloaded the UK international stock rom think it's btu or something like that! What's the dangers please will it brick my phone! Have tried to ring him but his phones off and has been all week any help be much appreciated

I'd say follow dr.ketans guide that would be your safest bet.
But honestly I'd leave the phone rooted, at least, for the time being you'll be glad you did.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Yeah it's OK rooted but quite a few apps keep shutting down!! But it is great I must say
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Which apps fc? You could try a factory reset, flash a custom rom or of course revert back to unrooted or Flash a new stock rom. If you choose the last option ensure you run triangle away first

If you made a backupour stock rom after su setup and custom recovery then yes you can as long as you are on the same bootloader the stock rom was on. Just restore after a thorough full wipe and use the the triangle away tutorial from the point after you should have opined back to stock, installed custom recovery and su. But you should Odin back anyways because this is unfounded and gremlins don't like to be aborted. Just remember you want to send your phone in for warranty and you want to eliminate all modded softwares and Odin will eliminate the leftovers!
You can try this
http://www.androidrootz.com/2013/06/how-to-unroot-galaxy-s4-without.html
Every time that I try to download the tar.md5 stock file it keeps saying bad file size.what would cause that.I tried downloading the file twice with no luck. Thanks
