Hello everybody!
I bought yesterday a Galaxy Nexus. I’ve rooted, installed clockworkmod and the ROM Android Revolution HD™ 1.3.1 | High Quality & Performance | GSM.
The big problem which I found till now is:
The screen rotates very very slow. (web browser, photos gallery, pdf documents…) with everything.
Sometimes even don’t rotate. I have deactivate all screen animations and the same duration. (2 seconds or more)
My nexus s was much faster with a beta rom with android 4.
Do I have an issue? Do you have the same problem?
Thanks in advance!
With stock rom is all so fast and smooth.
No problem at all.

Not sure how people are saying it's fast on stock. To me it's anything but fast... it's slow as hell.

Agreed. Sometimes I have to shake it after I turn it for it to even do anything. The accelerometer needs tweeking in the stock rom.
its very laggy .. and if that was " google choice " then i think it was a bad choice!
Can you guys quit repeating that google intentionally put a delay in it.
I noticed this as well - i'm quite aware of the difference between the screen not rotating and there being a delay.
There's something really quirky that's causing the phone to not recognize sometimes, I thought the new update fixed it but alas it didn't.

No, because it is a fact. There is a purposeful rotational delay.

So your screen doesn't accidentally rotate from holding it at a slight angle.

When it works right, after about a 2 second delay - it rotates.
But sometimes, it just doesn't work, I'll hold it for 10 seconds and it won't rotate like the phone didn't register it, so I have to turn the phone back and forth and the accelerometer seems to wake up again and works.
Does no one else get this behavior?
Im running the stock rom, no animations either and my screen rotation isnt all that speedy but i prefer it to my galaxy s which rotated at the slightest tilt of the phone. At least the proximity sensor on this phone doesnt lag like the GS did. I hated having to wait for the screen to respond before i could hang up the phone LOL.

See this is different.. I have not experienced this and had no idea you were talking about this. The delay on rotating the two seconds that you observe is intentional.. can't say not rotating at all is something I have experienced though sorry :/

Screen rotation is VERY poor on mine. Im not talking about a "lag". Sometimes there is no rotation.
Same here, if the screen is touched it rotates and behaves normal.
Please click the star here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22561
Not noticed any issues with mine, on stock or with android revo HD 1.3.1.
Then again, it really pissed me off when my old phone always rotated with the slightest turn. Hated it. Had screen rotation turned off most the time due to it.
Only time I do like to see a landscape view is in videos, where the 'delay' is not really an issue.
So I guess I'm one of the few people who can thank google for implementing such a useful feature.
But seriously, who uses landscape often? Why?
That said, I wish the lag upon pressing the recent apps button was removed.
Hello Brochachos from all over the world! I was wondering if there was any way to turn off capacitive buttons fully and just use the on-screen soft keys? That would be awesome. Thank you for your insight and help on this fellow xda members! <3 kse91holydiver

I had a mod for the nexus s that disabled the keys, I could adapt it to this phone probably. Using cm9 i'm guessing?
No, actually I'm using AOKP, does that change the difficulty in adapting it?
NVM I looked at your mod and adapted it myself, no flash zip necessary. For anyone else who wants to know you delete the text in /system/usr/keylayout/sec_touchkey.kl and then save changes in a root explorer app.
Is there any trick to turning the lights off on cm9?

Yeah I don't want to completely disable the keys themselves, I just want to turn the annoying, battery-wasting backlight off. The CM9 setting to do so does not work.

I want to know this too.
This was made by T.C.P. But I use it on CM9 Codename and AOKP. Turns off the lights but they still work. Flash in recovery and enjoy.

Push it there and reboot
Some ICS roms like codename have a "lights.sph-d710.so" file so push the the lights.exynos4.so and delete the d710 one then reboot (if that's the case).

That's why I said make sure you add the lights.exynos4.so after you delete the d710 file and then reboot.
Don't forget to set permissions before your reboot.
Why would you ever want on screen buttons instead. Phone screens are small as is, and youre choosing to use a portion of it to be dedicated to buttons you already have? Not to mention theyre not as responsive as capacitive buttons and theyre bound to get in the way sooo much more. I think its the worst part of ics, and Ill be dissapointed if the s3 ships without capacitive buttons, even if it does make ot look cooler. And the removal of search and menu is downright retarded
The .so file does indeed work. Thanks so much for the workaround.
Also on the general subject I would much prefer fewer buttons on my mobile device. My HP laptop has capacitive buttons and they are the cause of many headaches. Even the menu button on my E4GT sporadically activates on its own from time to time. Google did it right with ICS and the Galaxy Nexus. The keys are there only when you need them and auto-hide when you don't meaning the screen real-estate is not as much of an issue as one might think.

I am trying to do it because my hardware buttons randomly press themselves making the phone difficult to use. I get where you are coming from though.
I'm searching around trying to fix my phantom search button issue but don't want to flash a different rom or start a new thread... I'm rooted with framaroot (great system, so easy to do), have busy box, root browser- virgin mobile S2 SPH-D710, same as the Epic 4G touch. I found a thread in another forum talking about editing the button to simply no longer have a task, but in regards to the menu button and not the search button which is the one that is giving me the phantom issue. Thread is here:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...th-ics-jb-phantom-menu-keypress-easy-fix.html
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203059
Anyone know how to go about deleting the functionality of the search button?
I want to take this approach as it seems the only way short of a new/referb or hunting down a custom rom where the software somehow fixes the issue via programming. I did have virgin send me a referb and it had the same issue lol, so working on fixing it the xda way haha. For those with the same issue and wondering what is causing it, IMO the best explanation I found was from another forum, it seems to be hardware, where a screen replacement or capacitor addition is the fix because some S2s had bad quality control and a magnetic shield was not installed correctly and when the cell antenna is in a low reception area, it increases power and that causes an inductive voltage situation or some other power issue and makes the handset think the menu or search button is pressed. I found some who feel that even though it's a hardware issue, of course the software could be set to prevent the cell antenna from 'juicing up' in low reception areas.
I am looking for a rom with Virtual Buttons navigational buttons ( like Nexus 7 ). My phone buttons do not work anymore and need this work around.
I am currently running Jellyzeus with turbo kernel.
I edited framework-res.apk myself to enable it but I did not work. I think it is disable elsewhere in the ROM somehow.
It's called navigation bar, it should be available in FXP CM10 rom. Make sure you flash the boot.img from FXP152 to make it bootable.
Various other JB roms have it.

This ROM is awesome. Its exactly what I was looking for. I like it so much Im thinking about installing it on my nexus 7!
Now if I can just find out how to reassign the wake buttons. Ex. Wake the phone from sleep using any of the four buttons on the front of the phone.
On iPhone there is an app called activator, which you can assign different functions to any button or gesture. I am looking for something like that. Nothing Iev downloaded from Play store works, from what I have read it is more of a ROM feature than anything.
Gesture control might work but I don't know if it has a wake feature

Yep I think its great! There is a paid app on market that let's you wake your phone by shaking it here link https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImNvbS53aWxkcm9pZC53YWtlLnVwLnNjcmVlbiJd it's not free but gives you a 15min trial to see if works with your phone don't know if that's any good
Yeah I already have something like that for my tablet. That is not going to work for me because I walk alot at work and run at the gym. I dont want to have to remember to turn it on and off.
Simply, I just want all buttons to act like the "home" button on the lock screen.
This is really bugging me now. You would think that this is not hard to do and that I am not the first person to want this.
I'm planning to buy this phone. But bugs keep me from buying it. I shouldnt spend $700 with stupid issues it shouldnt have. Hope you guys know of a fix....
1. Can I turn off auto brightness without rebooting? Why no toggle for it in status bar?
2. No dark notifications... why aren't notifications dark?
3. Why does the EMUI look so outdated?
4. Some features not working with 3rd party launchers like Nova. Is there a fix?
Dont mean to sound like an ass. But I shouldnt have to invest almost a grand for a phone with issues other phones dont have. Its ridiculous. If you guys have solutions to these issues please let me know. Hope to join the huawei family without them.
.
The fact thet you're here in XDA tells me that you play more with your phone than keeping it bone stock.
1 - Nope, auto brightness isnalways ON which I find stupid.
2 - There is Dark mode that turn the system UI black including Notification panel but not Notification Banner.
3 - I hate EMUI
4 - You can't change launcher on most recent update and there no fix to that. You can on older version like 9.1.0.120 but you need an unlocked bootloader and root.
So do your self a favor and stay away from any Huawei Device and go with Oneplus or Xiaomi
Have bought this phone (UK version) but yet to recieve it.
Not being able to change launcher, is that an issue just for the china version or the international version too on the latest update? That would be a biggie.
Also are there any issues with notifications not getting through all the time (an affliction a lot of Huawei phones suffer from). I had the Honor note 8 (Chinese) and this issue made it infuriating to use. A phone without notifications working properly is a dumb rather than a smart phone in my book.
Lastly one of the best bits about the Honor Note 8 was the ability to clear the notifications by double tapping on the finger print sensor. Do you have that on the Mate 20 X?

Dunno, brightness never bothered me

who said that ? THEMES !! it comes will all sort of colors, just download huawei theme manager from playstore, it also including fonts as well
there is also a theme editor from the playstore where you mix and match and come up with your favorite theme all from your phone.
3. Why does the EMUI look so outdated?
because it is ! next month they are releasing a new version where they copied alot from OneUI, which is a good thing and they focused on smoothness and cleaner UI
4. Some features not working with 3rd party launchers like Nova. Is there a fix?
i am using nova, i think this is a chinese version issue not global

i have it for almost 4 months, and i got the note10+ with my renewal and trust me, i sold it without even opening the box. nothing comes close to Mate 20x as a complete package these days, its really fast, battery lasts forever, great screen, amazing camera, amazing charging speeds and one of a kind speakers.

You can toggle it ON/OFF whenever. It does not require a reboot. Adaptive brightness turns ON anytime the device is rebooted. It is not such a big deal do not worry about it if you are going to buy the device.

Hi, just updated to the new software (Dec firmware) but I am still having issues with auto rotate stack widget on my fold 4. Can anyone don't mind help me to test pls?
To replicate:
1) Have stack widgets on cover screen on home page and 2nd page, press and hold, edit stack and have auto rotate on for both pages.
2) Turn off cover screen mirroring
3) Unfold phone
4) Fold phone
5) Edit stack setting on cover screen.
Does the auto rotate widget switch to off on the home page? How about the 2nd page?
Thanks!

Yeah, this bug happened awhile back in OneUI 4.x (which got fixed by a keyboard update if I'm not mistaken) and now it's returned. I avoid using the Fold to reply in a forum... I have to resort to using different device.
