For SMS messages you could get Tablet Talk, I use it and it works great. Not sure if anything like it exists for whatsapp though.

[Q] Verizon Galaxy Note 2 native messaging app different than AT&T Galaxy Note 2 app
My friend just got the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 and I have the AT&T Galaxy Note 2.
I realized that my native messaging app will group the group texts in 1 chat, however, it won't show the name and the bubbles show a play button and says MMS. For him, the group messaging works flawlessly and the chat actually shows the name of the person who sent it.
The reason i want to know this is because I use GOSMS as my chat app, but the phone starts lagging like crazy when people group chat because the text message sends once to the individual chat, then again to group it into a group chat.
Does anybody know how to get the native messaging app that the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 has on the AT&T Version?
The verizon version is running 4.1.1 and my phone (AT&T) is running 4.1.2.
Please help! THank you!
Not sure about Verizon but Att messages verifies your phone number. So if it is working the same in that way for Verizon I would guess no.

I think the OP is talking about group texting like in iPhones working properly for Note IIs through Verizon.
I recall reading an article or thread (outside of XDA) about this, but I remember it was talking about either changing or adding some lines in an APN.
...Okay thanks for clearing that up for me. I went back and re-read it a couple of times.
Looks like the quickest way to find out who sent the text is to long-press the text bubble and select 'View message details' which quite frankly sucks as a solution. Just another reason I use GO SMS instead. Yeah it takes a few seconds to combine the text into the group text, but it's better than having to click a few more times to find out who responded.
That is odd though that the Verizon version works differently. Maybe someone can find you the Verizon apk.

Texting that syncs with note 3

Is there a way to sync my SMS with the tablet so I can go back and forth between the two?

If you have Verizon, you can use the Verizon messaging app. It works great.

It should be noted that it also works over wifi. Guess it would save a bit of power if you don't need bluetooth for something else and do use the wifi.

MySms and MightyText
I use both MySms and MightyText. They both work the same way basically, both allow you to send text messages through your phone, either from a tablet or their respective websites. But there are a couple of differences.
I've been using MightyText to send text messages from my (or any, actually) computer for a while. It works well, but sometimes it takes a while for a message to appear in MightyText. And sometimes a message takes a long time to send or isn't successfully sent at all. I think this might be due to my phone (GNex) and its age. It's clearly visible when a message hasn't been sent, so it's not a huge deal. The MySms phone-app is also an actual SMS app. Using this instead of the stock sms app has the advantage that message-reads are synced across all devices. You can also message other MySms users for free. I don't use the app as my SMS app on my phone, because then LightFlow wouldn't be able to show me different colors for individual people,
The tablet app costs some money, which is why I checked out MightyText.
MightyText is free for both the phone and tablet app. It's very fast, it's almost always the first one to notify me on my PC. What I don't like about MightyText is that the web app doesn't automatically update when a new message arrives like you'd expect from a messaging app. Instead you have to click on the popup chrome notification, which opens up a new window/tab every time. So if you're having a conersation, you end up with many open windows of the same conversation.
The phone app is only an SMS receiver, you can't use it to send messages. But it forwads your phone's battery status and notifications about incoming calls to your other devices.
Hope that helps.

Text Messages Screen Comes On

So as with the Note 3 the Note 4 follows the trend when receiving a text message the screen automatically comes on. This can be very annoying and dangerous when the phone is in my pocket. I was able to get around this with my Note 3 only after root and without root using GO SMS Pro which had the feature to turn that setting off. Now Go SMS Pro has updated their android app and it sucks... less than half the customization options and off coarse no option to fix the screen coming on. So what have you guys done to get around this or is there a fix?
Try handcent. Similar to the way go SMS pro used to be.

Try the app "Textra" for text messages. It's excellent and has options for waking the device or not.
Note came with Verizon text message called Message+, use this and you shouldn't have any issue.
Tried handcet and the private box feature doesnt work. the text messages still show up in regular inbox. the verizon+ doesnt have a private box so thats a deal breaker.

well you started this thread with screen turn on when receiving text, so we provide you with text apps that not turn on screen, now you dig more into feature of the text app, I suggest you should go into playstore and see what's fit your needs.

Help with responding to texts via voice

what app do you need to use to swipe left and respond to texts via voice? it doesnt work with the stock messinging app. it used to work for me with gosms pro, but now it doesnt. anyone know a good text app that will allow me to do this? without being able to repond to texts via voice while i am driving serves no purpose. BTW i have the same issue with my asus zenwatch, so it seems to be an android problem not a phone specific one.
I use Chomp for texts and voice responses via the Moto 360 works for me.

Note edge stock messaging app works fine, although if I pause speaking for just more than a fraction of a second, the watch thinks I'm done speaking and sends the reply.

How can I retrieve deleted text messages off a Verizon Note 4 SM-N910V running 5.0.1?

I REALLY need the text messages off a Note 4 I activated in Jan 2015.
The text messages somehow deleted themselves after I bought a new Note 4 and left the old one in my work truck.
From my understanding it is impossible to root this phone which may be the ONLY way to get these texts back right?
If someone offered a service to get these off for a fee I would do it.
Can't believe we are in 2016 with all this super technology and I can't access deleted text messages without setting up apps, etc...; I could swear I clicked on verizon cloud to backup sms but I cannot find them..
Please help
Google it

Use the Verizon message+ app. It has an option to recover text messages from previous devices. It's a shot in the dark but a pretty good one.
