Never heard of phantom hardware button issue. Anyone?
When streaming video over wifi (netflix or any other app like it) sometimes the volume level slides all the way to mute - - I'm not touching anything , but it acts as if I held the vol down button. Volume toast popup comes out of the blue, and I just watch it decrease volume to mute. I slide it back up, and it immediately slides back to mute. It will do it like 20 times in five minutes, then not for days... ANY suggestions? MOAR/MD4. No other issues... Thanks in advance for any ideas. Cheers.

Hi,
I have a AT&T Tilt2 on which suddenly the volume rocker up button stop working as volume button and then brings me to the home screen from within any app!! I am unable to figure out why this would happen - its a stock AT&T ROM with some apps that I installed like - OperaBeta, HDWallS, Resco.
Even when I hold down the call drop button for sometime, the device does not lock! It vibrates but does nothing - just shows me the home screen.
Any idea on why this would happen ? has anyone seen this happen to their cell too ?
Thanks
Dhanvi
My volume buttons occasionally acts up too. They suddenly act as up and down keys rather than volume up and down keys. Very rarely though. A soft reset makes it go away each time.
...guess it was having an identity crisis...
I've been having problems with my volume buttons. And soft reseting doesn't solve the problem. The volume buttons work in the lock screen. But when i'm at the home screen they just open and close the volume screen.
I have a tilt 2 with the stock rom.
My EVO is forever switching itself to silent mode without me doing it (that I am aware of). I never intentionally set it to that myself. It's either in full sound/vibrate mode or vibrate only. However, often while texting I'll sit my phone down, pick it up later, and see I have missed texts and the phone is in silent mode.
How does that keep happening? Is it something I'm doing while hitting the power button to shut the screen back off?
the volume keys can set the ringer to up, down, or on vibrate.

Right, but I have my volume maxed out all the time, and I know that during the process of sitting my phone down on the desk I'm not holding in the volume button and running it all the way down to nothing. Plus, I don't think you can alter the ringer volume with the volume keys while the screen is off, can you?
*ok I just figured it out*
What I must be doing is accidentally squeezing the volume up button as I grip the phone and press the power button to shut the screen off. That puts the phone in silent mode. Mystery solved!
Some (a lot) of ROMs, including stock, also have an option to silence/send to voicemail when the phone is placed face down, as well. Sometimes, it seems like these options can inadvertently be triggered by setting it down wrong, or even moving it around in your pocket. Just something I have noticed.

I forgot about that option. I always make sure my phone doesn't do that as I always have my hands in my pockets when I walk and almost always have my phone face down on my desk when not using it.
Hey everyone,
I have the push power button to end calls option enabled, but I have noticed bug with it.
When using the phone on spearkerphone, the screen still times out and turns black. Touching the screen or pushing the volume rockers does not wake the screen back up. So basically there is no way to add a call, bring up the dialer pad, etc. Pushing the power button obviously ends the call.
The way it should be designed: pushing the power button ends the call ONLY when the screen is up to your face (proximity sensor activated) or the screen is on.
hey there,
I'm using Slim ICS 4.2 and there is an option to wake up the phone with the volume buttons (don't know if this is 'general' on custom roms), which is very nice cause i hold the phone mostly with my left hand and so it's the best way to wake up the phone.
the problem is, when i have the phone in my pocket, i wanna feel from outside of the pocket where the volume buttons are and press them, and the screen turns on and cause the display is near my skin, buttons get pressed and lock the lockscreen for 30 seconds and more...
cause i don't wanna miss the unlock when i don't hear music, i would like to have it disabled when a headphone is plugged in. is there any chance that this gets or is already realized in another rom??
Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone is having similar issues. Issue 1 is when I am on a call and I have it on speaker and lay the phone on the table the screen repeatedly turns itself on. I hit the power button, it shuts and immediately turns itself back on. Anyone know the cause of this and how to fix? Issue 2 is using Spotify and songs stuttering for a second when I do anything. If I am listening to a song and I hit the power button the song stutters, if I hit the home button to open another app the song stutters, if I hit the back button to go back a page or close an app the song stutters. Anyone know what could cause that and a possible solution? Thanks!

The first issue, go back to Desktop or Home, then power the screen off. I have the same issue

So there is no fix, it's just a workaround? That's very annoying especially on conference calls for work, when you want to mute and unmute yourself you have to unlock the phone and open the dialer to get back to the call to be able to mute...ugh
